Hello wish! I've followed you for a really long time (and have almost wondered for just as long):

What makes Rewind sans think differently of Hunter!Papyrus as opposed to being attracted to his own Pap? If it's still #fontcest, then why wasn't he simply interested in rewind!Papyrus too?

With lots of love for you and your characters (and hop I'm not too out of line with this ask) I anxiously await your response ^^'

The answer is very simple: Snares (Huntertales Papyrus) and Ghost (UndeRewind Papyrus) look and behave differently from each other. Even the universe they originally come from is very different in setting and tone.

To clarify this reasoning; I've always treated the same characters from different Undertale AUs (like Sans) as looking different from each other, even slightly, unless it's truly intended for them to look and act the same as the OGs by their creator. Unfortunately, skeletons don't have skin, hair or noses and what else to make them stand apart from each other like humans do, so it's the slight differences like facial bones, socket shape, height, bone color, soul/eyelight color and so on that count.

For example, when Rewind meets Underfell Papyrus for the first time in the 'Kill or Be Killed' fanfic, he didn't instantly think "this is my brother"; he didn't recognize him. Even after UF!Pap introduced himself as Papyrus, Rewind refused to believe him right away. It wasn't until UF!Sans popped into the scene that he started to doubt his own disbelief. Granted, this was the first time Rewind met an AU Papyrus, but it remained rare to find another Papyrus that looked exactly like Ghost during his journeys through the multiverse.

The truth of the matter is that I myself don't consider Rewind and Snares to be fontcest; they don't see each other as brothers, at all, and aren't reminded of their own brothers when looking at each other. But because they are technically a Sans and a Papyrus, other people will consider it as such (no matter that it is cross-AU) and that is why I label it as fontcest; so anyone can block/mute the tag/word and not see it if it bothers them. I do this mostly out of respect for people rather than the belief that this ship is true fontcest.

I shipped sanscest when I was younger (specifically cherryberry) and when I went on holiday to turkey at the ripe age of 13 I wrote the ship name in the sand on a beach and I think about it all the time. I even took a photo 😭

hey do you guys remember when like. brother/brother and sister/sister and brother/sister ships werent just normal, they were really common? parent/child ships werent as widespread as sibling ships but you still saw both of them a lot. like you used to see incest ships all the fucking time.

now though, with the huge resurgence of evangelical puritanism in western fandom and the massive influx of alt-right christofascist antishippers, nothing is allowed to just be fiction any more. braindead little conservative assholes and bigots will scream and shit themselves over people shipping the elric brothers because fandom isnt allowed to be fun any more. antis will see someone talking about sebaciel and start spewing their disgusting rhetoric at everyone and being TERFS and wannabe cops until nobody wants to participate in fandom any more.

I saw this post about wanting to bring back the energy and vibes and community that was in the 2016 era of the UTMV community. And at first I was elated. I joined the fandom in 2017 and I look back fondly on the community I found myself in. Lots of fanfic comments. Lots of RP Roleplays. Lots of Askblog activity and in-character answers and all these wonderful things.

Yes, there were toxic and mean things too. There always are. But I never really found myself in any of it. I only remember the fun and the joy.

And I initially reblogged that post excitedly responding to it. And I went to the blog to see if they posted anything else good.

And I saw their DNI. "Proship DNI".

Their pinned post literally said to me "hey disclaimer just so you know 'i dont support harassment', but if you (also) dont support harassment, if you enjoy shipping, if you think censorship is bad, then don't talk to me because I think youre a terrible person and deserve being harassed."

And they wonder why the 2016 era of UTMV died.

I would have loved to interact. I would have loved to gush about AUs and fanworks and art. But that person left a big sign saying they think I deserve hate for enjoying fiction and that they dont want to talk to me.

Like. Bro. That is kinda the reason youre not getting 2016 UTMV back. You dont wanna associate with "nasty proship" people. Who uh. sorta made UTMV. UTMV (and lets face it, fandom in general) was built on the backs of Proshippers. (although that is sort of an anachronistic statement -- the idea of "proshipping" is new because it was the default, expected political stance. it wasnt "proship vs anti", it was "everyone (aka proship) vs trolls and haters (aka anti)") Then a bunch of haters started being nasty to frans and papyra and fontcest shippers, and puritanical rhetoric ripped apart what was left of the fandom after art theft and the tumblr purge drove the artists away.

The fandom isnt going to knit itself back together unless we foster a community mindset, which we can only do if we all agree to ship-and-let-ship. Block and mute tags you dont like, learn to recognize when an AU isnt for you, and dont play in tags you dont actually like.

But like, just because I like the color Green doesnt mean I cant appreciate Blue or Red. You can hate Green all you want but alienating Green likers is just going to make it harder to live in a society where nobody is making you like Green.

I dunno I just feel like its not fair to ask for a community effort and simultaneously condemn the very people who would have been part of your community for not being good enough for you. It's mean spirited. It's rude. It's cruel.

I want 2017 UTMV back. I would be more than happy to get to see 2016 UTMV with my own eyes. But it isnt coming back, because it takes people to make a community and nobody wants to make a community welcoming and safe.

i think incest is bad and weird and even in fiction its still gross and when portrayed as another cutesy normal ship it desensitizes people, especially younger audiences, to those subjects and can in fact make them ship it as well.

if you post dreammare art religiously, some 11yo is gonna see it, think it’s cute and ship it themselves. and then bam your weird fetish became some child’s unknowing process into a community surrounding the normalization of being sexually aroused by the rape of characters or fictional children being assaulted by adult characters. that 11yo who entered the community, who make a lot of content of their new favorite ship, will become even more desensitized to pedophillia, incest, and rape in fiction.

believe it or not, this does in fact affect reality. if all that goddamn kid sees is grown adults talking about how sexy it would be if this character was raped by a relative, that child might not feel anything is wrong with the way their uncle grabs their waist because that’s sexy, right? they may even begin having a misplaced crush. or how their older brother asks to practice kissing with them. that’s what everyone online ships and thinks is cute, and that child thinks it’s cute in art, so they don’t think anything is wrong with this.

and this is probably the most simple way of explaining it. that’s not touching on how the proship community makes people angry by promoting an us vs them mentality. “people against proshippers are puritans!” “anyone against proship is an anti, and they’re terrible people who will dox and harass anyone!” (don’t believe me? i got an ask just like this ~1 week ago lmfao)

guess what? that kid will see that and believe it. if someone tries to say what they’re participating in is weird, they’ll register that person as an anti and refuse any help. that kid will be pushed further into the community and grow up on the internet alongside it.

this isn’t my exact story, but i know this because i was basically that kid. i started consuming frans content at age ~11 (a victim of SA btw), which then developed into shipping other unsavory things, which then developed into participating in the proship community (around 2020/2019? the time when it got an established and popular name for itself). and then im fifteen years old and willing to date adults on the internet LMFAOOOOO. not fun. I don’t think this kind of shit should even be given the time of day especially on my page but i also feel like someone sending this kind of question irks me as though there was a possibility i’d say yes to liking it or whatever. also:

So who has Rewind canonnonly dated?

A few characters, for sure, though I wouldn't call it "dating" for most xD Rewind is demiromantic so "love" is mostly reserved for a very special someone.

Rewind had a little thing going with Dr. W.D. Gaster (Rewind!Gaster aka Penumbra) back during his scientist days. Nothing serious though.

He was happily married to Rewind!Toriel for around five years after she became queen and Rewind!Frisk "completed" the Neutral run.

After Toriel's 'disappearance' and the corruption from multiple RESETs and hacks affecting his universe, he had on-and-off flings with Rewind!Grillby and later on Rewind!Asgore. Once again nothing too serious, though he tried with Grillby.

Once he was able to venture through the multiverse, he made several friends with benefits but never really dated anyone. Some FwB are/were Big B (@underswapcolor AU), Diva (Fame & Magic AU), and Slate.

During his (rather long) first visit to @stankychee's Huntertales, he unexpectedly fell in love with Snares. Unfortunately, he refused to accept his own feelings because he was on a mission to save his AU and the broken soul of his brother; he couldn't stay. It took a while for Rewind to come to terms with his feelings but he eventually did and moved into Huntertales to officially date Snares.

As I mentioned before It's important to note that I do write ✨Comship/dead dove✨ content, and as a psych enthusiast, I believe exploring darkness through fiction can be a positive and safe experience! I've written stuff about anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, disability, all sorts of trauma, lots of that.

I've written Major character death, violence, and some mild gore too! A lot of that is for The Horrors in the Wilde, so keep that in mind, lmao.

Honestly I think that's all I have, which is kinda L, maybe I need to step up my dark fiction game if this is all I've got. (It can get so much worse and istg I will write worse stuff to spite anyone who's tossing around hate like it's confetti. And I'll tag it properly so they don't have to see it if it makes them uncomfortable. I'm just cool like that.)

Oh btw if you're not tagging your stuff properly or make a fuss about tagging things when someone tells you that you didn't tag something properly, you and me aren't cool. Nothing about that is okay. I have been writing for about five years now for the fandom, and I've been here since about the very beginning. Like when we were still figuring out that undertale had a genocide route, lmao. I actually got into UMTV through CPAU and never managed to make it out, lmao. I started posting my writing back in early 2020. I was watching a short talkimg about emberlyn talking about how belongs in hell. As a joke, it flashed the title page of a Undertale fontcest comic. Now usually I'll just be grossed out and keep going with my day.

This time though, something bothered me. Morbid curiosity possibly, I don't know. The name I saw on the title page was called 'No Safeword'. I looked it up just to confirm if what I thought it was was correct, be ause you never know it could have just been a comfort fic/comic.

But strangely enough, I couldn't find.. ANYTHING on it. Only the image of the title page again. So huh, THATS WEIRD. The image was blurry as well, but I managed to make out who commissioned it (I will not be saying their name as I don't want them or the artist to be harassed. If you know who they are- uhm. DONT ATTACK THEM)

I go onto their Twitter. It was pretty normal yk. Mostly just retweets of undertale fanart. The kinda acc younger me would have loved.

And then.

There was a hidden post. I had mild curiosity, so I opened it.

It was fontcest. Luckily nothing graffic, but that's what it was. This confirmed that this twitter acc was the same one that commissioned the comic, and it confirmed that it indeed wasn't a satire or something.

Sarah and Penelope sat in the car and drove to store, they see that they've already started to have fall/Halloween items on the shelves. They both felt that euphoric feeling of fall that a lot of people get when it's cool out. It was also between 40 degrees and 59 degrees Fahrenheit. They only came there to buy groceries, so they bought some things for their dinner and a couple other things for the meals for the next few days.

Author's note: I always feel euphoric when fall come or when we're close to it, and when the leaves change. so nice!

They have finally paid for everything and brought back their groceries. After they have put the groceries away, they now have left their house, and walk to the area where they have many trees with orange leaves.

Penelope: SARAH, DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN WE MADE THAT PUMPKIN RECIPE WHERE YOU MAKE DOUGH AND ADD SOME SORT OF ORANGE SUBSTANCE THAT YOU MAKE WITH VEGETABLES? BUT IT WAS SWEET, I LIKE THE TASTE, BUT IT THROWS ME OFF THAT THERE'S A VEGETABLE IN IT.

They found that there were a couple of humans that looked just like them.

*leaves crunching* Penelope: *points to the pair of humans* HUMANS!!!

Sarah: pen, are you sure that those are humans?

So both human and skeleton Penelope would have to do it while the chicken’s cooking in secret without human or skeleton Sarah knowing so they don’t eat them all.

Human Penelope: SHHHH!!!

So they start eating their desserts, and (human) Sarah and Penelope do this thing where they grab a cream puff and they both eat that same one little by little, and then they kiss as (skeleton) Sarah and Penelope were watching them. They blush, smile, and they fangirl… LOL.

Human Sarah: you should do the same. here, take a cream puff.

Sarah: ok.

So (skeleton) Sarah and Penelope do the same thing except Sarah takes a bigger bite so she can get the kiss quicker and have most of the cream puff. Silly girl. Haha!
