My pretty little hátová salt vessel

Hátová salt, is salt consecrated on St. Agatha’s feast day in Czech folk tradition and used in protective folk magic.

This charming little glass vessel is actually a specialized vase called a bulb forcer, from the Jamestown Glasshouse in Jamestown, Virginia. It is based on a design from the 1650s. My mom bought it for me as a gift the last time they were out east. I remember visiting when I was a child and have clear memories of watching the glass blowers work their craft.

Bulb forcers were used to force a variety of flowers to bloom indoors. One would fill the bulb vase to the neck with water and place the bulb on top of the vase. Making sure the bulb roots were barely touching the water.

All of the Jamestown Glasshouse produced pieces are hand-blown and crafted by local artisans. Since every piece is hand blown and crafted there are slight variations in shape and size, and therefore no two items are exactly the same.

I started working with this batch of salt on Hromnice, firmly planting my hromnička in it upon the altar.

thinking about the title "the stranger" and you know what actually i love how characters in the acolyte are like tarot cards in their own way. we got the stranger which is his own thing who interestingly doesnt neatly fit into this analogy, the twins another one that doesnt fit exactly, the sun (sol), the moon (qimir), the father (sol again but not an official tarot card), the high priestess (mother aniseya), the hierophant (sol lmao), the fool (osha and mae), the hermit (kelnacca and torbin), the lovers (oshamir). theres so !!!!!!!! much to think about

ok I am attempting a Run 2: this time much more slowly (and I'm not taking the good laptop with me for Thanksgiving and will be away next weekend as well, so it shall indeed be much, much slower) bc I know the story and will hopefully become patient with doing things like "finding the gotdamn chests". I am ALSO going to attempt to play a mage this time, and if I do not die IMMEDIATELY I will up the difficulty to Easy, AND I'm saving Minrathous and romancing Neve and generally being a much more snarky and pragmatic Rook than the idealistic and somewhat headstrong romantic that emerged last time. also real talk between figuring out controls/fighting immense nausea/not knowing the setting well I have already forgotten anything but the core events of like, the entire prologue.
