Wide-Angle, Panoramic Feel to an Image Captured by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While at a roadside pullout at Forrest Gump Point with a new looking to the southwest down the road with a backdrop of the sandstone buttes and formations present in the Monument Valley. This is along U.S. Route 163 not far from Halchita, Utah. My thought on composing this image was to have a view looking down the road and center myself with the stripe leading off into the distance. I decided to angle my Nikon SLR, camera slightly downward and create more of a sweeping view, bringing the horizon higher into the image. I wanted the image to have a panoramic, wide angle view, so I knew that I would cut off some of the foreground to my front.

A mother's word for word transcription of the imaginary phone call her four-year-old made to Santa Claus in 1911.

Through some outrageous case of serendipity I found a recording of another phone call this same child made 60 years later. Though I have to say his choice of conversational partner is a definite downgrade from the first call.

It looks too far-fetched, but...The Godfather: the story begins with betrayal.Forrest Gump: a love story that began in childhood is ending.
Tumblr media
NOT ME COMPLETELY MISSING THE TWO GIANT ASS MOVIE POSTERS HANGING ON THE WALL EVEN AFTER TAKING SO MANY SCREENSHOTS OF THIS SCENE IM ✋😭 i blame the vice versa brainrot for this............
honestly i don't think your analysis is too far-fetched like if it were another show maybe i would say that the choice of movies was made without much thought behind it, but so far the trainee has put a lot of care and attention to the props and colors it's using to help the narrative along, so i doubt the posters don't hold some kind of meaning
i feel like i would need to rewatch both movies before trying to do a proper analysis because it's been ages since i last saw them, but there's definitely something that could be said about the way these two very different stories treat love and how that applies to tae and bahmee's relationship: in the godfather, love is deeply connected with betrayal and suffering and grief, and the moment you forsaken the love for your family and your partner for the love of power you end up alone, while in forrest gump the love and acceptance forrest and jenny give each other from an early age is, in its kind, the only one they get to know
idk i wonder if these movies work as a sort of warnings for both tae and bahmee: do not forsaken love for something else, but while the love you've known when you were younger will always be important, maybe it's not the right one for you
(kinda terrified that they're gonna go with the 'at the end jenny realizes forrest is the only man who ever loved and treated her right' interpretation instead but let's not go there)

Desert Road in Monument Valley, Arizona, is one of the most iconic and picturesque stretches of road in the American Southwest. Officially known as U.S. Route 163, this road winds through the dramatic red sandstone buttes and mesas that characterize the region, offering breathtaking views that have been immortalized in numerous films, advertisements, and photographs. The landscape is marked by towering monoliths that rise from the desert floor, creating a surreal and timeless vista. This area, located within the Navajo Nation Reservation, holds significant cultural and spiritual importance to the Navajo people, adding a layer of historical and cultural richness to the stunning natural scenery.
Monument Valley itself is not just a natural wonder but also a cultural landmark. The road offers access to various viewpoints and trails where visitors can experience the grandeur of the landscape up close. One of the most famous viewpoints is the stretch of road leading up to Forrest Gump Point, where the character famously ended his cross-country run in the movie "Forrest Gump." Traveling along Desert Road, visitors can stop at designated pullouts to take in the panoramic views, enjoy guided tours with Navajo guides, and visit landmarks such as the Totem Pole, the Mittens, and John Ford's Point, named after the legendary filmmaker who frequently used the valley as a backdrop. The experience of driving through Monument Valley on Desert Road is not just a journey through a stunning landscape, but a passage through a living cultural and cinematic heritage.

Monument Valley Road Trip - Part 1
May 2023 – Valley of the Gods, Goosenecks Park, Forest Gump Highway & Monument Valley Our weekend adventure this time took us to the south east corner of Utah and the north east corner of Arizona. Our road trip was a total of 1460 miles give or take. We started around noon on Friday as we drove through traffic of Southern California Highway 15 to the 40. Once on the 40 we went straight through…

I will fight tooth and nail against people who badmouth Jenny from Forrest Gump like she's not a gold digger she was a woman who was beaten and sexually abused by her father then when she grew up fell into the wrong crowd and drugs and came to believe that her very existence was poison and didn't want to drag Forrest down with her so she kept pushing him away not believing that she was good enough for him or deserving of the unconditional love he had for her. She only started to accept him when she hit the point of almost committing suicide and finally let herself turn to him for help. But she still didn't believe she was good enough for him despite the fact that he didn't care about that so she runs away one last time.
It isn't until years later that she finally accepts that she can be loved the way he loves her. But she's not calling him for money because she's managed by this point to build a good life for herself and her son. Like she has a job and an apartment and is clearly doing well for herself when she contacts Forrest again.
Like she's dying and she has no one to turn to to take care of her son and she knows there's one truely good person in her life who will love their son as wholly and unconditionally as he loved her and that's Forrest.
Like the whole Jenny subplot is about a woman who's gone through an entire journey of healing from her trauma and accepting true love from the man she thought was too good for her to ever deserve. I will fight to the end for Jenny cause people don't appreciate her story for what it is.

is there anything you'd love to see in intellectually disabled characters in books TV etc?
romance and sexuality ! romance and sexuality that end good for characters and not one die or something . like forrest gump did that , good place … sort of did that , weird situation will understand what mean if know show . tired see die and either need mourn not be happy because partner die or not exist anymore because self die .
sidenote : not think use direct names , but jason is describe as legitimately , medically have smooth brain during MRI tests , which is something that often lead to intellectual disability . so another point : directly name disability if setting allow … and also , not use mental age or compare with kids , oh hate that so much .

FIRST LOOK “Here”
“Here takes place entirely from one fixed point of view. The camera never budges. It doesn’t zoom and never even turns. What does move—and rather quickly—is time. More than a century of life in one American living room plays out during the brisk 104-minute story.
Here is a Forrest Gump reunion of sorts, both in front of and behind the camera. The film, which debuts in theaters November 15th, stars Tom Hanks and Robin Wright and was cowritten by Zemeckis and Eric Roth, all of whom collaborated on that earlier Oscar-winner. Little has been shared about Here's unusual point of view until now. “That’s the excitement of it,” Zemeckis says. “What passes by this view of the universe? I think it’s an interesting way to do a meditation on mortality. It taps into the universal theme that everything passes.”
Here has some parallels to a traditional playhouse experience, since the film takes takes place in one location, but it differs because the set itself is constantly evolving and changing. “When you’re watching something on the stage, you are the editor and the filmmaker,” Zemeckis says. “You decide, ‘Am I going to watch that character or am I going to look over here and see that guy who’s sitting on the sofa?’ What we do with the panels is we guide the audience to what we want them to see.”
Using these panels, flashes of the home’s many inhabitants over the decades weave together throughout the story. A World War II veteran turned salesman named Al (WandaVision’s Paul Bettany) and his homemaker wife, Rose (Yellowstone’s Kelly Reilly), move into the house shortly after he returns Stateside after surviving heavy combat. Hanks’s character, Richard, is their firstborn, which sets the core of Here’s story in motion. “There were men in the 1930s and ’40s who lived through the Great Depression and then World War II, and then entered the buttoned-down ’50s where everyone had this conformity,” Zemeckis says. “They didn’t have the tools to express their feelings. And so, there was a lot of anger and a lot of lashing out.”
Al is not abusive per se, but he’s got more edge than the Father Knows Best era acknowledged. Rose is no pushover either, even if the doors open to her are vanishingly few. “The whole point was to make the story identifiable,” Zemeckis says. “We didn’t want people [in the house] to be criminals or spies in highly dramatic situations. There are some people who probably won’t like the fact that the conflicts in the movie are not over the top—that they’re pretty rooted in reality.”
The clashes between the generations show how quickly a culture shifts as children grow up and parents grow old. “I think that the film speaks to the truth that we have to accept that everything changes,” Zemeckis says. “Where we get in trouble is when we resist that reality of life, and then we get dug-in and miss out on opportunities.” - Vanity Fair

Just some best friend fluff with jake sully🫶🏼
Nad!!! Naddy on ice Naddy the baddie this request was so cute and funny I actually got side tracked writing blurbs to piggy back off of this request my moots and friends keeping my imagination on overdrive. I hope you enjoy my lovelie
Take Me With You
Paring: human Jake sully × fem human reader (platonic)
Warnings: non just fluffy cute Jake and his friend
Word count: 1k
Summary: you are the only marine besides Jake who has any care for pandora outside a meal ticket. And now you want to go with him.
You walk down the halls to the scientists wing one of the few Marines that ever ventured there or even was liked by the scientists. You didn't know why they liked having you around Maybe it was your interest, genuine interest in their work the forest of Pandora the plants the place as a whole. You couldn’t deny this place was amazing you came here with nothing else to lose back from Earth and felt a sense of longing to know what you had to gain out there but you weren’t here for that you were here as a hired gun. But also you could live vicariously through your best friend Jake Sully…. You both became fast friends over the fascination of Pandora alone also you were just as idiotic as him when it came to impulse over deep thought.
You walk into the labs getting greeted by many there "hey y/n you have to catch up on your Navi you missed yesterday" Norm said in passing making you nod "yeah I know there was a meeting with the Colonel I couldn't ditch I'll come back by later" you say walking backwards not paying attention.
Unaware you were being stalked like prey as you walked backwards you felt yourself get swept off your feet and falling back into Someone lap "damn y/n you weigh a ton" a familiar voice groans. You roll your eyes laughing dryly "oh very funny lieutenant Dan" she mocks calling him the legless soldier from Forrest Gump. He pushes your back laughing "says the one with 2 working legs yet still trips over nothing"  you laugh and push his head to the side punching his arm "shut up that was like 2 or 3 times" they laugh as he wheels them over to their little corner to talk.
You listened to him with fascination as he recounted the things he did and saw as an omatikaya to be and his training. You would kill just to see it and would die to experience yourself. You could see the shine in his eyes as he spoke of his experiences and his time with the infamous Neytiri. "You like her Jake I can tell" you say still in his lap leaning against the wall as  you look around him. You laugh seeing him blush but say nothing. "That's not the point here Y/N" he laughs.
You smile and laugh "I know but honestly Jake you should enjoy it more…. It's better than here" you says you had grown sick of the constant kill kill kill we are at war…. A war we fucking started. You look up seeing Jake take your hand "the colonel on your ass isn't he" you sigh and groan "take me with you Jake" you mutters more to yourself than to him. Jake pushes your head over to look at him and you both share nothing but a series of expressions, something learned i the military to learn and read body language but you both perfected it out here seeing body language was more than a subtle sub language, it was a secondary to the first. Your eyes said it all, you did not belong there but here. Sure you’d seen war done some unforgivable things but this was different this violated any type of Geneva convention if that even existed. But you had your own morals and you weren’t a monster and the things the colonel was asking you to prepare to do was…monstrous.
Jake smiles at you sadly as he could relate to your emotions. He looks over to Grace who is doing an audio log “ Hey Grace could you think we could convince the tribe to let a friend of mine visit the village”. He watches you snap your head to Grace you looked almost ready to beg for the opportunity. Grace looked back at him and then to you as she stopped mid sentence. “ i think she knows enough Na’vi to be able to go you’d have to speak to the clan about it” she says giving you a even smile.
You couldn’t contain your excitement at the possibility of being able to visit, your mentality had been shifting as things became tense at least in the military department. There were talks of shock and awe campaigns, blasting the home tree, even going for the tree of souls. You look down not wanting to dampen the mood or tell what was classified information know Grace would come at them with the wrath of a thousand suns. You quickly return to the subject. “ so I heard through th pandora grapevine that you are going to tame a banshee i say i want pictures but i want a detailed explanation of the event and don’t worry if I happen to make friends with Neytiri which I will, I will be getting her side of the story so i know the whole truth.” You laugh as you hear Jake groan, knowing that you’d never let him live it down just as you did with the Thanator incident. “I swear you are worse than tsu’tey when it comes to poking fun at me” he grumbles.
You look at him and smile “ what kind of friend and surrogate sister would i be if i didnt give you a hard time.” You tease as you stick your tongue out at him knowing soon you couldn’t disguise yourself you’d have to make a choice us or them. "Plus without me you'd be all brooding and boring" she pokes his his cheek as he wheels you both around the lab effectively brightening your continuously darkening days.
This drabble was really cute I may start writing more for human Jake he's a sweetheart little bean.

what’s wrong with Disney’s first film? And can you clarify how “off” seems to u?
Tumblr media
First, that Snow White is 14 years of age and her darling Prince Charming is 31 years of age. That's the part I truly find unsettling. And while I have not seen it I have for sure heard of it. And well, doesn't Prince Charming simply kiss her as she is supposedly "sleeping" (poisoned technically) without any reason to.
Of course, I am not saying anyone can't enjoy it. I simply find it strange, personally on my part. Many films have problematic aspects to it and you can still enjoy it as a story even with things (I suppose ignoring the odd aspects to it or acknowledging them. However you wish to enjoy your films) such as stereotypes, racism, sexism (lack of women), homophobia and of the like. For example many beloved classics have such things within them: Dumbo, Forrest Gump, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Grease, etc. Many famous films with incredible storylines do include these aspects unfortunately. Its a rather complicated issue and I am not sure if my point is coming across that well. I am quite aware that since then there has not been that many disturbing age ages in Disney films from then on.
Tumblr media
All in all, my point is, movies may be problematic but in no way am I policing what people enjoy even if it has problematic aspects. In regards to Snow White it seems Prince Charming is a pedophile but it is not inherently apparent in the film. And the kissing scene is glazed over as an act of romance even with its odd nature. It is a children's film after all and these parts were trivial in the making of the film in that time period (the 1930s).
