Note
I watched Francesca Gonshaw in The Hound of Baskervilles (1983). I wouldn’t be surprised if Nicholas Clay and Francesca didn’t want to do the scene where Hugo rapes the girl. I can’t help but feel that this is a reason Gonshaw retired from acting. this is massively unpleasant. I wouldn’t believe this was acceptable TV in the 80s.
The scene was very uncomfortable to watch, so I'm sure it was uncomfortable for the actors to film. It is surprising that a scene like that got through the censors during the 80s since some less disturbing things were so strictly kept from the screen.
It's too bad that Francesca retired early because she was great in Allo Allo, but hopefully she has been more happy with what she's been doing outside the film industry.
