Freakazoid! 

Created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm for WB Animation, Freakazoid! was a slapstick superhero possessing a variety of strange powers.  The teen computer prodigy, Dexter Douglas, became Freakazoid after accidentally typing a random formula into a computer, transporting him to another dimension where he gained the ability to change into the blue-skinned being with super strength, invulnerability and reality-altering abilities.  As Freakazoid, he would go on to use these powers to act as a superhero, battling a variety of odd villains, including The Lobe, Cave Guy and Armando Guitierrez.  

Actors Paul Rugg and David Kaufman provided the voices for Fraekazoid and his human alter ego respectively.  The series debuted in September of 1995 and ran for two seasons.

"oh, dexter douglas would have a job in computers as an adult --" reeeeespectfully, i disagree!

while i understand where this is coming from (and far be it from me to bash on other's ideas), you have to consider why dexter liked and had a computer in the mid-90s.

he's a nerd. a massive one. the whole point of his character is that he's one of the most dorky, loser-ish misfits in the whole show (and we love him very very much for it). his OWN FAMILY tells him that he's boring them when he talks about his interests. he's the kid who gets shoved into lockers at school, and that's why it's funny that, out of everyone, he turns into freakazoid.

that, and the internet and computer technology has evolved so much since the show's conception that it would be hard to translate that into that same level of nerdiness. it's not lame to be into computers because almost everyone has one, to the point where a career in tech is seen as respected or even exciting. he should definitely still do work with computers, maybe as a side hobby, but it shouldn't be his job, per se.

but! given his interest in economics in the show (remember dance of doom, where he's planning his retirement fund?), i propose an alternative:

adult dexter is a tax accountant and retirement consultant. he gets excited over stock portfolios and 10-99s and misplaced decimals in ledgers. he's mind-bogglingly boring to be around. if freakazoid has to hear him expound upon the benefits of a roth ira over traditional one more time, he's going to bash his head into the freakazone's walls until there's an embedded imprint of his face.

i've been thinking about freakazoid in the context of a dnd / fantasy au, and while the immediate instinct is something like, "oh yeah, dexter is a wizard and freakazoid is a paladin, they multiclass", please consider instead:

dexter douglas is literally Just Some Guy trying to get by magic school, when he gets a spell book as a gift. there's a bit of an accident with his familiar when he's trying out a ritual, and he ends up unleashing a blast of magic powerful enough to rock the weave. he's now getting actively hunted down by gutierrez, an archmage and cult leader trying to contact otherworldly forces for personal gain.

what they did not plan on (and neither did anyone else) was that dexter now accidentally has a warlock pact with the most friendly and maddening great old one patron imaginable, and said patron has been dying to try out a mortal vessel for a looooong time.
