College/School edition
I am about to start college, and I've been a practicing pagan all through high school (I am almost 23, I'm starting college a little late bc of finances)
So here are some tips!
Moon water in your water bottle - keep yourself energized and cleansed.
Crystals in your bag (or on your person) for focus - Clear quartz, amethyst, lapis lazuli off the top of my head (do your own research) (I will make a masterpost of crystals eventually)
Sigils on/in your notebooks/laptop - make a sigil for focus and memory or whatever else you think you need help with. Can be the same for every class or a different one, as sometimes you need help in different areas.
A penny in your shoe to attract luck as you walk around campus (if you can handle a penny rolling around in your shoe) (you could also put it under the insole if you want) - I did this all through high-school and the penny is so worn its pretty much a flat copper circle. I'm gonna get a whole punched in it and wear it around my neck. (I graduated with a 3.5 gpa)
Eating proper meals and snacks through the day - nourish your body nourish your mind. If the only thing you have is a redbull and a snickers, go for it, but genuinely trying to eat better (and taking in less caffeine on average) will help you (Coming from someone who used to drink monsters mixed with 5hr energy to get through the day. Please listen to me.)
Veiling - keeping yourself protected from outside energy, keeping distractions away from you. Can be done using things as innocuous as a jacket or a shirt, or it can be a scarf, bandana, headband, etc Traditional veiling covers the head and hair, but welcome to the 21st century. If you wear it with intent to veil, congrats. You're veiling.
Studying around your altar - devote your studies to your deity (if you do deity work) or devote them to your practice. Part of witchcraft is opening yourself up to learning for the rest of your life. And, at least for me, if I view it as work for my deity/practice, I'm more inclined to do it. Invite your deity to study with you. Read the your textbooks. Light a candle (or whatever) turn on their Playlist and vibe together while you study. My whole college life is devoted to my Godesses. They helped me realize what I wanted to study. I'm doing it for them.
Meditation before class - meditation is not sitting criss cross on the ground chanting "ohm" unless that works for you. Meditation can simply be taking a moment in the hall/bathroom/your car/your dorm and listening to music to get you into the learning vibe. Taking deep breaths and trying to clear your mind. I hear you, fellow adhders. You have "cannot focus 'normally'" disorder. I understand. I do too. Use fidgets to help you. Use the tools. Please. Lock in.
Do not touch AI - AI is antithetical to witchcraft and paganism as it directly harms creatives, academics, and nature. It is horrible to the environment and one of the biggest parts of this practice is the preservation and care for the environment. Beyond that, if you can't pass a class without AI you won't be able to work the field without it and that is dangerous. There are plenty of people who can do the work without it and would gladly take your spot. Stay. Away. From. AI.
Audit classes that relate to your practice (for college kids) - look at what classes are going on during your free time and just walk in. Especially classes on things you're interested in. Auditing a class means taking the class without being enrolled in it. Meaning you won't be graded, it won't affect your gpa, and you can actually pay attention. If you work better with background noise, take whatever work you need to get done and sit in the back of a class and do it. College is full of people learning and exercising their free will. No one is going to stop you, and if they do, just go and find somewhere else. Many classes could benefit your practice, such as agricultural science, natural history, geology, botany, classic literature, even world religion or theology/philosophy courses.
