Took this garlic & butter French loaf and stuffed some processed cheese into the gaps of the pre-sliced bread. Wrapped it in foil and heat it for about 15 minutes in the oven and out came this toasty Cheesy Garlic Ficelle (S$2.20 for the loaf). Yum, crispy, buttery, cheesy with the flavours of garlic and chives.

i have been trying for three days to get french toast but theres only one place near me that does french toast outside of weekend brunches + the first day i showed up at 11:45 and found out they stop doing breakfast at 11:30, and yesterday i showed up at 11:05 and found out they'd decided to stop doing breakfast at 11 for no reason. it is day 3 of this quest and if i dont manage to get french toast today i may riot

Blacked out at work while going through our leftover bakery items and somehow ended up taking home 3 loaves of bread and 4 cookies. But at least they were free.

Still coping with homelessness and doing my best to count my blessings when I can.

Though I still haven't found a permanent home within my means, I'm happy to share that I have a safe place to stay since last night and for the next six nights. It's a huge relief not to have to scrabble every couple of days to find a place to lay my head (including the breakroom at work), and I'm so grateful to have access to hot showers and a bed.

However...

The bad news is that this comes at the cost of leaving me severly cash strapped. Between my checking account and my pocketbook, I've got exactly $40 to last until my next paycheck (August 31). I have groceries enough to feed me the next few days and under a quarter tank of gas (the only driving I do is back & forth to work). So, as much as I don't want to ask for help again, I must because next Thursday is still ten days away. The town food shelf is open one morning a week, and that's while I'm scheduled to work. I would greatly appreciate any donations people can spare to bridge me to the 31st.

I've read Lithuanians have high respect for bread.

Apparently ripping and stabbing bread is disrespectful. None of it should be tossed out, gotta eat it all even the crumbs.

Sis messaged me saying she is coming home with some breads from Johan Paris. This Japanese bakery of French origins makes some of the nicest breads and buns in Singapore. Particularly, the Fluffy Cheese Bread (S$12.40 whole or S$6.20 for half loaf) which is filled with cubes of Cheddar, Mozzarella and Gouda. It is topped with red cheddar cheese and baked till the outside is golden-brown and crusty. How can such a savoury loaf not be yummy and delicious.

Also from the same bakery located in Isetan Scotts is this Spicy Cheese Bread (S$3.50). A French bun filled with cheese, bacon and sprinkled with black pepper. The bun is slightly chewier than the fluffy cheese bread with plenty of cheese and occasion encounters of bacon.
