SWV vs Xscape

SWV > Xscape

I see SWV & Xscape have a joint reality tv show coming out. I get it, everyone is trying to get their bag. However, in my humble opinion, they’re not even in the same category. At best, Xscape sounds like a really good high school talent show performance. Whereas SWV had that R&B & Hip-Hop mix that the 90s were so good at delivering. Even hardcore Hip-Hop heads dug them. I won’t even mention the Biggie line that he said about Xscape. Google it if you’re curious, haven’t heard, or have forgotten it. In my ignorant, semi-misogynistic youth I thought it was hilarious. Now, when I look back on it, I wonder how they felt about it. I wonder if they turned off Biggie songs when they came on the radio, or if they stopped dancing when they were at the club and the DJ played “Mo Money, Mo Problems’ or ‘Notorious Thugs’. Anyway, besides SWV being dope, they were one of the first R&B groups that I remember sampling other artists when they had a mashup with the King of Pop Michael Jackson’s ‘Human Nature’. With all that being said I’m sure I’ll watch for pure nostalgia. I’m also a sucker for reality shows, the worse the better see Bad Girls Club, Party Down South, and either one of the shore shows that MTV gave us.

The abridged version is that Fullsail University had some collab with Roosterteeth around 2020 where students could submit grimm designs with one being chosen to appear in the show proper. It eventually gets to the 5 finalists, and is opened to public voting in this constantly exploding powder keg of a fandom. Now, of the 5, there are two of note: one being that whole skull deer head often referred to as a wendigo, the at the time frontrunner, and another being a rather basic rhino that, by complete fucking coincidence, was submitted by a member of krwby productions, former makers of rwby abridged. As modern trends go, there's an increase for votes due to affiliation. Fine. Sure. But then you get to people who, in an attempt to bring down the wendigo's popularity, start claiming it's appropriation, or, hilariously, sacred like nobody's played Until Dawn, seen The Descent, or The Ritual. This escalates to the point where both drop out, public voting closes, and the winner is a silver fish that, via pack tactics, can Voltron up with a swarm of itself that made a very brief appearance in volume 8.

I swear to God, the discourse around the Wendigo went from 'this isn't just another generic monster, so please do your research if you're going to use it in your project' to 'Noooo, this is mine~! You can't use it, you big meanie~!'

All the while, legitimate research and discussion that could transpire from interest and exposure is just... Forsaken for the sake of yelling.

Riposte: Portal's main mechanic was from a small student game, Nabarcular Drop, which was the final project of a team of students from either FullSail or DigiPen. Newell saw the project and liked it so much, he hired their entire team right out of school, and they iterated on that original game to make Portal.

Thus, Portal has the soul of an itch.io game you pick up for 5.99. If you took any 6 out of 10 game from that environment and injected it with a full team and a budget and Erik Wolfpaw, yeah, it'll turn into a Ten Out Of Ten. But we know where the soul is.

Also, it was not even "Portal" to start with, it was a bonus game of the Orange Box, and out of the other games included (Half-Life 2, HL2:E1&2, and Team Fortress) it was the least promoted. It becoming a smash hit was a complete surprise, but now I'm getting into Arc TED Talk territory, so I'll stop.

i inquired on nasm personal trainer cert, devslopes cybersec cert, and fullsail cybersec cert. fullsail is like 98k before loan and scholarship, devslopes is $250 monthly (all i remember from that call), for nasm cpt its $99 down payment and then $60 monthly until $1198 (?) is paid. in short, since fullsail is far out of my reach atm Id be paying $349 for the first month and $159 onwards. Two easy acceess career paths to work my body and mind, and I'm guaranteed two remote jobs when I complete them. I would still do fullsail just for the benefit of putting a bachelors degree on my resume, bc besides college just being scammy in general it wouldn't be useful outside prestige. but I am pretty confusable for a kid even after I eventually obtain this experience. Those last four months are nothing compared to my plans now.
