Alright class, settle down. Now, I know you're all excited to get out for the holiday break, but we still have almost a full week left of school before then. I do realize, however, that half of you already can't stand to be here, so I'm going to give you just this one assignment. I would like it turned in by the 21st, but I'm willing to make extensions. Alright, here goes: I'd like you to write a 300-word essay on why you think Disney failed trying to reuse the same idea, where shows like Phineas and Ferb are praised for this reason. I'd like you to use:
At least two arguing points, each backed up by at least one source each
a simile, denoted in red
a metaphor, denoted in blue
a quote, denoted in green
and a chart, no matter how simple.
You will be graded on an A-F system (if I get around to it) based on your usage of the above, along with readability, spelling, and grammar.
[For extra credit, include a section on how the format of these media and their success relates to how comedy and humor is presented on Tumblr.]

LSS Ads Graded #2
It's time again for my incredibly useful and mind-blowing opinions:
Airmax: C - A woman standing around in a backroom where some men hiding in the corner turn on the industrial fans and blow her clothes off.
The gradual blowing off of her clothes is great but a lot of the shots are either from pretty far away or are in the dark.
NEXT Directory: B - A woman dreams of an endless corridor filled with doors that change her outfit. One door leads her to a party where she's suddenly naked.
An ad where the build-up to it helps. She's going through all the doors and appearing in different outfits, and you have the thought in your head that maybe she'll walk through one door and end up in her undies. Well you're wrong, she ends up naked instead. Great yet brief ENF reaction before she wakes up. Beautiful.
Siemens: A - A napping woman's clothes escape from her body in search of a washing machine.
The concept for the ad is great and fun, and makes for an entertaining ad in its own right even before you get to the naked lady. Oh right, the naked lady. So she wakes up from her nap to find all her clothes have gone AWOL from her body, her reaction is fantastic, she's very hot, and her walking over to her window and hiding behind the curtain is great. The only drawback is that the shots of her clothes leaving her body at the beginning are brief and don't show more under-layers. Her pants starting to unzip, close-up shot of her torso with some shirt movement, that's about it. Would've been nice if we got a shot of her in her underwear before those inevitably came off, but considering everything else in this ad is done so well it's enough to still scrape into the A-category.
Colin's: C - A modern-day pied piper steals the clothes from a group of club-goers who protest by the window in their underthings.
Great concept for an ad, the execution is a bit male-heavy though, I wish there was another shot or two of a woman's dress falling off or something. Also the only copies of this I can find are pretty poor quality which doesn't help, maybe a hi-res one means I could notice more details which could bump it up a grade. Maybe not.
C&A: C - A car wash filled with people in their underwear dancing and getting intimate with each other. The ad keeps cutting to a pair of vertical brushes which rip the clothes off of women who pass through them.
It just falls short of B, it's a great ad but those shots are far too brief, plus they are already pretty skimpy outfits before they're stripped. Some more women going through the brushes would've been great, it's just mostly the same woman, though that's not a knock on her.
Brahma: B - A woman in a bikini and her male friend are parched and want to walk over to the beer stand on a hot beach. As they do, they start to literally melt into puddles. They reach the beer just in time and re-solidify, only to find that her bikini top is now on the guy and she is topless.
This is a high-B, almost an A, just because there's actual toplessness here and also her reaction is pretty cute.
Lovable: A - Two women walk through three different scenarios where their clothes suddenly fly off revealing, you guessed it, Lovable lingerie.
Their reactions when the clothes fly off is great every time. They're not embarrassed at all, though they seem a bit surprised the first time, they seem to be having a laugh about it by the end.
Migros Total: C - A man enters a laundromat and his chosen detergent causes WaCkY tHiNgS to happen. At the end, the lady who has been watching his antics receives said detergent from him and her dress is promptly sucked into the open washing machine door.
It just falls over in execution a bit, doesn't it? She's hot, and it's great in theory, but the shot is too far away, it's a bit brief, and arguably her underwear isn't much more revealing than what she was wearing. BUT, it's fun and I like what they're doing here.
Kacemaster: C - A woman walks through a black void toward a Kacemaster washing machine when her dress is suddenly sucked into the machine, along with her hair falling out of its bun. She is seen again at the end of the commercial wearing a towel.
Would probably get a B if the ad didn't cut away half a second after she starts to react. However, her hair coming down is a nice touch, AND at the end she's wearing the pink towel and NOT her one-piece lingerie, implying the machine ate those too. It's those little details that really make it shine. Just not enough for a B.
Tati: B - French clothing ad. One shot features a woman wearing a navy dress choosing to spin around, causing her dress to disappear into thin air. She briefly reacts in shock before shots of her smiling and being playful about it.
I think this gets a B, it lingers just enough to really let it sink in, and she's very cute, and very cute about it.
----
That's all for today, maybe this introduced you to some ads you haven't seen before. I'm likely to post another one much sooner than the time this took.

Small thing that breaks my heart:
When I was in third grade, I told this boy that it would be my birthday in four days, and he said, “okay, then I’ll buy you flowers.” Four days later he comes up to me and says, “my mom wouldn’t let me get flowers but I found you this violet in the grass.” That in and of itself was iconic and so so sweet, but it gets better.
A month later, I had to move, and because it was third grade, the teacher made everyone write me letters to say goodbye. His said, “I hope you have so much fun in your new house that you forget about me. I hope that you’re always happy and you never miss us. I’m sorry I never gave you flowers, but I can give you some now.” And he fucking. Drew me flowers.
No, Joey, I never forgot you. You are the reason I have standards in this life, and I’m so grateful to have known you. I hope you’re happy, wherever you are, and I hope that the rest of your days are filled with as much joy as you gave to me. I spilled water on the card about five years ago, and half of it is a a jumbled mess now, but I still have it. It’s the only card I still have.
The funny thing is this dude and I hardly ever interacted. I knew he played football because he was on the town’s kids’ team and my brother was on the middle school team, and I knew he was one of, like, three Joeys in our year. I had a crush on him but obviously never communicated that because it was fucking third grade, but somehow those three interactions imprinted on who I am as a person. I am forever changed by Joey from third grade.
