Part of delivering on the vision is nailing the tone, and if you're a fan of media in general, then you know where the story needs to go to hit the emotional beats, even if you're not sure of the exact details.

So for example in Just One Of Those Things, I knew I was writing a kissing story with a romantic, nostalgic, almost classic feel. Like an old Hollywood movie. I didn't know where the characters would end up by the final lines, but I knew what I wanted to imply to the reader. I even debated going for something more implicit!

Thankfully I was talked out of my moment of lunacy there.

(It ended up being 12 pages, wasn't posted until June, and it does indeed end with a kiss. On a starlit balcony, no less.)

On a technical level, knowing exactly where and how a story is going to end comes dangerously close to "planning" and "outlining", two things which I already pointed out don't contribute positively to my workflow. I also appreciate the adaptability it affords me in the event that the work evolves during the writing process, which is a thing I enjoy.

9. What inspired you to write your first fic?

Hah, this is an easy one and also a fun one: It's all @geometricfractal's fault. :-)

Once upon a time, in July 2020, Fractal wrote a lovely Good Omens fic titled Breaking And Entering Can Be Angelic. I beta read said fic... and in the process ended up successfully tempting them into writing a short epilogue involving Crowley talking to his front door. It made sense in story context, I promise.

What might have made a bit less sense, on the other hand, was the fact that, a day or so later, I was abruptly seized with inspiration to write a story of my own from the perspective of said door.

So, I did it. As a joke. I wrote the six-thousand-word story of Crowley's Door, peppered throughout with footnotes, horrible puns, and far more angst than should be possible to have about a slab of fiberglass.

At the time, I was positive this was a one-time thing, a fluke, and I was absolutely never going to write a piece of fanfiction again. I was under the very firm impression that I was missing the fanfic gene or something. Simply didn't have the capacity to do it.

Let the record show that I was, apparently, mistaken about that.

13. Describe your writing style. If you were to participate in an anonymous fic writers guessing game (like The Masked Author), what writing habits do you have that would be a dead giveaway that it's you?

See, this is a really funny question to answer, because I do in fact participate in a Guess the Author game (through the Soft Omens Snuggle House Discord server), and have done so every month for the past fourteen months!  So you’d really think by now I’d know the giveaways that make people guess me.

Except, the only real theme that’s emerged so far is that I apparently have a secret fic twin (Luinlothana) who — for unknown reasons — frequently gets guessed as the author of my works and vice versa. XD Tonally, I tend to err on the side of fluff, with some feels and humor thrown in for flavor. I often use footnotes, soft themes, and/or non-standard outsider POVs (see also: as mentioned, my first fic was from the perspective of a door), but none of these things are at all unique to me in the Good Omens fandom. Beyond that, I’ve really no idea.

BUT I asked around, and the wonderful ArcticRose, who has beta read several of my GTA ficlets, offered this answer:

I think your biggest tells are that your fics are always really character driven- always dive into their minds and feelings. They're often light on description, letting the reader create their own setting from what you do give, which really pairs well with the first point. You use a lot of speech as well, with your stories being more speech than not sometimes. This again means the stories are driven by the characters, not you.
