Summary: When your boyfriend Javi is overworked, you take him away from all the stress of work, where the two of you can just be together.
Word count: 1,548
Notes: Just a little drabble. This wouldn’t leave me alone after I first put the idea in @ezrasbirdie inbox of whisking away Javi to swim with me. Also, I think we all deserve something nice. Written in the drafts so any wonkiness is mine.
Warnings: Age gap (older man/younger woman, not specified, but I’d put the age gap at anywhere between 7-10 years), established relationship, lots of kissing, fluff galore, mentions of sex, alcohol mention, authorities mention.

Without bothering to knock, you gently push open the door to your boyfriend Javi Gutiérrez's home office. In front of him sits a pile of paperwork that he’s poring over. You frown at the sight.
“Javi, baby,” you chide. He looks up, some of his dark brown curls that he’d just shoved a hand through falling into his eyes. “You’re always so busy.”
Striding across to him, you stand above him, the only time that you’re taller than him, and stroke his face. “You look beautiful today, mi amor. But, you always look beautiful.”
You lean down to kiss him before sitting down on his lap. “And you look tired, my love. When was the last time you had a break?”
Javi glances at his watch. “This morning.”
You tsk as you push some of his errant curls out of his eyes; he closes his eyes at your touch. He still doesn’t know how he got so lucky in finding you. You’d started as his assistant, but he’d quickly fallen for you. Your kindness and your sweetness a ray of sunshine in his life.
It didn’t surprise Javi at how quickly he fell for you; what surprised him was when you told him you felt the same. He’d been expecting a kind, gentle let-down from you, especially given that you’re younger than him by almost ten years. But when he had told you at dinner that one night six months ago that he saw you as much more than just an assistant to fill the clerical void that Gabriela had made when she left for America to go to school last fall, you’d just beamed.
“Mr. Gutiérrez?” you’d breathed when he kept talking — rambling more like.
“Yes?” He had looked so nervous, you’d reached up and stroked his cheek gently.
Heart pounding, you’d said, “Shut up and kiss me.”
Javi did as he told, filling you both with warmth as his mouth finally, finally brushed against yours.
A lot more than his mouth brushed against you that night as he finally showed just how much he cared for you.
And now, six months later, the two of you are happier than you’ve ever been. Except for now. “Your cousin is working you too hard, Javi. Does he not understand what figurehead means?” you ask. “Do you not know what figurehead means?”
Javi shakes his head. “I know, amor. But Lucas is confident that he can make a new alliance with the Rodriguez family. He’s making a strong connection with Miguel.” He hates the lie he has to tell you, but the detectives had been quite clear not to tell anyone what he is actually doing.
You play with his hair. “And what, my love, does that have to do with you?”
He just shrugs. “I’ve always been good at the paperwork side of it.”
You frown. “Since when does paperwork have anything to do with forming an alliance with another crime family?”
Javi gives another shrug. “Lucas likes to be well-prepared.”
“Well Lucas can do it himself. Since he’s the actual head of the family. It’s a beautiful day, Javi.”
“Not half so beautiful as you, mi amor.” Javi presses a kiss to your jaw absently, keening a little when your nails scratch his scalp soothingly. His beard tingles against your skin.
“Charmer,” you murmur before getting up off Javi’s lap. “Come on. It’s such a nice day. Lucas can do this himself if he wants it done so badly.”
Javi hesitates for a minute, not wanting to fall behind on this, even if it’s mostly finished. But you look at him with such determination and such pleading in your expression. If there’s one person he hates disappointing more than anyone, it’s you. And you have a point. “All right,” he agrees. “Where are you kidnapping me away to?”
“We’re going to the beach.”
- - - -
It’s autumn, meaning that tourist season has come to an end. Not that many tourists come to this part of Mallorca, since it’s privately owned by Javi.
“Do we need anything?” Javi asks as you take him by the hand and lead him away from the idiotic paperwork. “Food or anything?”
You shake your head. “I have everything and it’s already in your boat.”
Javi marvels at you. How did he get so lucky? He wonders if you saw what he has hidden away in the picnic basket that you prepared. Javi knows how he feels, knows how you feel. He wants to spend his life with you.
Hand in hand you take him to his motorboat. Picnic basket and towels already seated on the rear seat of the boat. If you know what’s hidden in there, you give no indication.
You’re already wearing your bathing suit beneath your sundress. Javi quickly gets into his, choosing his speedo instead of his trunks. When he comes back out from the poolhouse, his orange shirt, the one that you love so much on him, hardly has any buttons done up. “Let’s go,” he says.
One of the many things you love about living on Javi’s compound is the privacy. Since it’s out of the way, no one knows about it. It’s just you and him for miles andd miles.
The sun warms your skin, though not as much as Javi’s touch does. You came to Mallorca to get a job and to work on your Spanish. Falling in love had never been part of the plan. But looking at your beloved boyfriend now, you don’t think you want to stick to that original plan of yours.
Helping Javi tie off the boat when you arrive at your destination, you take the picnic basket in one hand, placing the towels on top, and Javi’s hand in the other.
Spreading out the towels, you set the picnic basket down. There’s plenty of time to eat, the afternoon is still young. And you have ulterior motives for bringing him out here besides just a day of fun in the sun. You have an idea, and you want to tell him away from the eavesdropping Lucas. The man who makes you so nervous and uncomfortable and makes Javi’s life a living hell. But first. “Let’s go swimming.”
Stripping off your sundress you feel Javi’s eyes on you. He loves you. And you love him. It still thrills you when he kisses you or gives you lingering looks. You break into a run and bound into the water, squealing as Javi grabs you from behind. You lean into his kiss.
Idyllic. That’s how you’d describe today. You wouldn’t change a thing.
“You know what I think, amor?” Javi asks as you swim.
“What’s that?”
“I think that you are a siren, here only to call me away. And you know what else?” he asks. “It is working.”
You swim towards him, kissing his cheeks, his nose, and finally his lips. “Yes, Javi. That was my plan all along.”
Once you’ve had your fill of swimming (for the time being. Both you and Javi never truly have enough of swimming), you sun yourselves on the towels you have spread out. “This is nice, mi amor. Thank you for doing this, pulling me away from the paperwork.”
Now or never, you suppose. Taking a fortifying sip of wine that Javi had poured for you, you say, “Run away with me.”
Javi blinks. “What?”
“I just... I want to be with you. And Lucas is dangerous. You’ve said that yourself. We have moneyy. We can go anywhere we want. I just want to be with you. It doesn’t matter where. It just... maybe shouldn’t be here if Lucas is here.”
You watch him as he processes what you’ve just said. He takes your hands in his. “I have to tell you something, mi armor.”
So he tells you about what his paperwork really is. How he’s turning Lucas in to the authorities, dismantling the family from within. “Because, sol... you are my family. No one else matters to me but you. I want this to be our home. Our home. And...” He bites his lip nervously.
Pulling free one of your hands, you bring it up to cup his cheek. “And?” you repeat.
“It’s too soon and we have not discussed it...”
Javi’s beginning to ramble, as he does when he’s nervous. “Javi. Baby. What is it?” you ask.
“I want you to be my wife,” he says.
It’s your turn to blink. “Javi...are you asking what I think you are? Because you already know what my answer is, what it’s always been.”
“I want to spend the rest of my life with you. We don’t have to go anywhere, or we can go wherever you want. I just want you.”
You nod, kissing him. “I’ll marry you. I’ll help you. I’ll do anything you need me to.”
Javi’s grin outshines the sun as he kisses your face. “Right now, amor, all I need is you. And to show you just how much I love you.”
You were thankful before for the privacy of Javi’s beach, but now, you’re extra thankful for it.
You don’t return to the compound until after dark, fortified with your plans, with your love, with Javi, anxious and excited for what is to come.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 4 is shaping up to be the show’s most nostalgic season yet, and PEOPLE has the exclusive First Look at the stars in character, including Joshua Bassett (Ricky), Sofia Wylie (Gina), Julia Lester (Ashlyn), Dara Reneé (Kourtney), Frankie Rodriguez (Carlos), Joe Serafini (Seb), Liamani Segura (Emmy) and more.
Following a transformative summer away at camp, the new season follows the East High students as they enter their senior year — and it doesn’t take long before the drama picks up, both on and off stage. As the students prepare to put on a stage production of High School Musical 3: Senior Year, their plans are quickly derailed when it’s announced that Disney is making the long-awaited High School Musical 4: The Reunion movie at their high school, and they'll all be playing featured extras.
When PEOPLE visited the HSMTMTS set last year, many of the stars teased that this season feels like a “full-circle” moment as many OG High School Musical stars make cameos, including Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel, Bart Johnson, Alyson Reed and Kaycee Stroh.
“We've been manifesting it since day one and here we are four seasons later and we finally get to be with the OG Wildcat Group,” explains Lester, 23. “They embody the OG Wildcat spirit, we embody this new Wildcat spirit, and two groups blended together has been so wonderful.”
Bassett, 22, adds that it was especially moving to witness the OG HSM cast’s emotional response to returning to East High nearly 15 years after the final film wrapped. “It was really special to share that,” he says. “It was truly a beautiful thing and beyond what we were hoping for to have so many original people back.”
This season will also feature two new recurring cast members who stir things up for the East High students.
Descendants: The Rise of Red’s Kylie Cantrall plays social media star Dani, who sounds like an HSMTMTS take on Ashley Tisdale's Sharpay. “She likes the spotlight and when she wants something, she goes and gets it, even if it means stepping on people's toes a little bit,” teases Cantrall, 17.
Meanwhile, Doogie Kameāloha, M.D. star Matthew Sato joins the cast as a sitcom actor named Mack, who he says “develops a really interesting relationship” with Gina as the season progresses.
Naturally, this season will feature countless nods to the original HSM franchise with the music, storylines and even costumes. “It is so meta,” showrunner Tim Federle says of season 4. “It's like Inception with jazz hands at this point. I think there are Easter eggs in every episode.”
The major storylines in this season also draw inspiration from the third High School Musical movie, as many of the characters go on journeys of self-discovery in their final year at East High.
“We chose High School Musical 3 because they're literally graduating,” Federle says of the significance behind the students’ musical for this year. “Troy and Gabriela have these stories about being potentially pulled apart by circumstance and by growing up and that's exactly what Ricky and Gina are going through,” he adds of Bassett and Sofia Wylie’s characters, who share a passionate kiss at the end of season 3.
As for that season 3 cliffhanger, Bassett teases that fans will continue to see the “aftermath” of that relationship in the upcoming season. “They're both really nervous about getting it right,” he says of Ricky and Gina. “It’s fun to see [them] in this light and actually see them in a healthy relationship because I think both of them have had pretty not great relationships.”
Relationship drama and big decisions are key themes in season 4 as the characters prepare to graduate high school. “Kourtney is going through these massive decisions about wanting it all as a college student,” teases Federle, 43. “Ashlyn goes on a journey where she discovers her own queerdom in the series.”
“Those are all things we're able to address in a way that I think celebrates the original franchise but puts a stamp on it in our own way,” Federle adds.
As for what Federle hopes the show’s final stamp will be? The importance of community. “In the streaming era, there's something real about the phrase ‘It's now or never,’” he explains. “[To] still be on the air after four seasons is a blessing alone.”
“I hope what people take away [from the series] is that in a mean, mean world, it's really important to find your people who have your back,” he adds. “The world is mean enough, and there are certain pockets of the world that you can find your people and soar and not apologize for who you are.”
He continues, “That goes for our audience, and that goes for these characters and ultimately, it goes for the real-life cast, hoping from me that they carry this with them for the rest of their lives. That they had a place to go that was safe and where they were celebrated for all of their colors.”
“This was my first TV show,” he adds. “And what I promised Disney was that if they let me hire real theater kids, they wouldn't let me down. I'm so proud of them because when the world beats them up, they still show up for me and for each other.”
For @time-for-a-grandkid-round-up, based on the prompt: “camilo cheering up his family.”
I’m only going to do one person as doing everyone would take forever. And as Camilo cheering up his (side of the) family is a little overdone at this point, I’m going with his favourite cousin. Enjoy!

Throwing Away the Dry Petals
“I win.” Dolores exclaimed, placing down her ace card.
Camilo groaned. “You win every time. You’re clearly cheating.”
“I’m better and smarter than you, Camilo, that’s hardly cheating. You can’t be mad just because I wasn’t dropped as a baby.” She said.
“Hey! I wasn’t dropped as a baby! Tío Bruno caught me! He just let go for a little…” Camilo trailed off. “Besides, Tía Julieta would’ve healed me. I’m her favourite.”
Casita’s front doors swing open almost hitting both the siblings as Isabela storms through, barely noticing them at all.
Dolores is unfazed, she no doubt heard Isabela coming. She doesn’t even flinch. And Camilo would be lying if he said he wasn’t amazed by how well his sister can keep herself so poker face, even when she hears everything. And almost got hit by a door.
“Hey, Bela! You wanna play with us?” Camilo asked.
There’s no response. Isabela just continued walking away.
“Isabela? Hello? You okay?”
Still nothing. Though, to be fair, she’s probably go far down the path to town to hear him now.
“What’s wrong with her?” He turned to his sister. Her gift was annoying most of the time, but it did mean she knew everything about everyone and it came in handy.
“Ramona broke up with her last night.”
Camilo was speechless.
“Isabela, Isabela Madrigal, was broken up with? But she’s always the one that breaks up a relationship!”
“Exactly,” Dolores said, dealing the cards. “She’s been distant all morning. I don’t think she’s slept either.”
“I really liked Mona. She use to give me and Toñito sweets.”
“Isabela did too.”
“But… why? Things were going well, right? It wasn’t like Viviana, who just flirted with Luisa the whole time, right? Or Sola, the one who just wanted to date a Madrigal? Or—” Camilo cut himself off with a gasp. “Tell me it wasn’t like Gabriela who didn’t like cacti.”
Dolores sighed. “No, it wasn’t like Gabriela. Gracias a Dios, ella no quería tener que lidiar con eso otra vez. Well… Ramona didn’t really give a reason. Just something about Isabela not meeting expectation.”
“Sounds like something Abuela would say.”
“Why do you think Isabela has been acting this way?”
Camilo stood up.
“Wait, where are you going? Don’t you want to play?” Dolores inquired.
“I’m gonna cheer up our cousin,” he answered, determinedly.
“If it’s egging Mariano’s house again, I swear to God I will tell Abuela—”
Her statement fell on deaf ears as Camilo was already sprinting away and laughing at the thought. It was always a good idea and it did always brighten Isabela’s day.
However, he really doesn’t wanna have to deal with Abuela or his parents making him clean the entire Guzmán house again. That thing is huge!
They always could throw eggs at Ramona’s house. Or anyone of her other exes. They could plant cacti outside of Gabriela’s. But he suddenly had a different idea in mind as he began searching for her in town, amongst all the chaos and people.
Camilo found Isabela sat by herself on a bench, staring off into the distance.
She watching a group of young adults, laughing and having together - though Isabela didn’t seem to be looking at them at all. Rather staring straight through them.
“Hey, Isabela? You doing anything?”
It took a moment, but Isabela did turn to him. Shaking her head, as though she’d been pulled from some vision like Bruno.
“What do you want, Camilo?” Isabela asked, not sounding angry but not friendly either.
“You know Eduardo Rodriguez? My age, plays football? Anyways, his older brother, Miguel, is getting married today.” He said.
Isabela blinked. “Um, congratulations? What does this have to do with me?”
“I promised Eduardo that I would go to the reception with Dolores, but she has a date with stupid Mariano and I don’t wanna go alone. So I was wondering if you wanted to go to La Hora Loca with me?”
His cousin didn’t immediately reject the idea, even looked to be considering it. A wedding wasn’t Isabela’s ideal way to get over a break up.
However, Camilo was nodding his head eagerly and encouragingly that she couldn’t bring herself to disappoint him again. Why Dolores didn’t just take Mariano to the wedding, she didn’t know - wouldn’t a wedding be a better date than dinner with the family? Never mind, this would be a distraction for Isabela and it wasn’t like she had any plans of her own.
“Okay, I’ll go. But you better change. You’ve split something on your ruana.”
“What? You of all people can’t seriously be complaining about stains! Have you seen your dress? It’s covered in who knows what!”
“Alright, I’ll change too.”
Camilo smiled, satisfied. He was going to get his cousin to smile too before the night was over. Isabela got up and grabbed him by the shoulder as he turned to walk.
“Insult my dress again and I will plant belladonna in your stomach.”
“Noted.”
~~~~~~
An hour or so later, having changed several times over based on the other’s complaints, they finally arrived at the wedding reception of Miguel and Vanessa Rodriguez.
The lateness was definitely the fault of them both considering themselves style experts.
It was times like this that made Isabela realise how many people were in Encanto and how few she actually knew. There were a few faces she recognised but she couldn’t associate them with any name or memory. While Camilo was effortlessly smiling and waving as he pulled her through the crowds of people.
He hadn’t really conversed with anyone though or even congratulated the bride and groom, but she didn’t really think about it. There was plenty of time for that.
Camilo was distracting her with a story of the last wedding he had attended - an old school friend of Félix’s. An event he ruined by sneaking off into the kitchen and eating the entire cake.
They’d been laughing and drinking for almost two hours at the bar when Isabela hopped out of her chair and extended a hand to him.
“Right, let’s go. We’re not sidelining this party, we aren’t Mirabel. Introduce me to Eduardo and the rest of your friends or the random people you know here from babysitting.”
“I don’t know ‘em. We’re crashing.”
Isabela stumbled backwards a little. From shock, not the cocktails she’d been enjoying.
“You don’t know anyone? I thought you knew Eduardo. You said he’s your age and plays football.” Isabela demanded, whispering.
“Yeah, he’s in my class and on the other football team, but I don’t know him.” Camilo shrugged in response.
Isabela raised an eyebrow. Then she snickered. “That’s a lie. You’re just trying to piss me off.” But Camilo’s signature smirk, usually one given to Dolores, made its appearance. And Isabela paled.
He wasn’t joking. He had invited her to a stranger’s wedding.
She quickly started downing a series of shots that some other guest had ordered and regrettably left unattended.
Camilo was all but losing it, clearly enjoying himself. Though he did lean over and say, “We can leave whenever. Just have fun and relax. What’s wrong with your cousin trying to cheer you up?”
Though Isabela wasn’t yet drunk enough to completely abandon her moral compass, she grabbed Camilo’s hand - a little tighter than necessary - and dragged him to the dance floor.
They weren’t hurting anyone or ruining anything. They were having fun. And goddam, they were good drinks.
So as long as they kept to themselves and nobody caught on, it was okay.
For the next few hours, the pair danced and definitely outshined everyone in the process. Pepa was an excellent teacher.
They took breaks every so often to return to the bar - Camilo did keep Isabela from getting herself totally drunk, which was just as challenging as Dolores complained it was. Though Isabela’s alcohol tolerance was impressive. In turn, Isabela did her best to keep Camilo from drinking alcohol altogether.
They partook in the snacks and cake, and even several photographs. Quickly heading to the bathroom when someone started to question them.
It wasn’t until Camilo ended up chatting with the groom himself that their plan had totally fallen apart.
“You must be a friend of Vanessa’s, how did you meet?” Miguel had asked, innocent enough.
“I’m not. I don’t know her at all.”
Camilo hadn’t meant to say that. He might have been able to save himself, claiming he was someone else’s child, but the way he flushed red and his eyes widened with guilt, there was no chance.
Meanwhile, Isabela had found herself chatting with the younger sister to the bride, Elena.
So when Camilo suddenly sprint by and pulled her away by the hand, she was confused but not particularly surprised. It didn’t take long before she matched his pace and they ran out the building, with several angry family members chasing after them.
They continued running until there was no sound of footsteps and shouting, and they were safely hiding in nature. They stumbled along a clearing overlooking their town under the moonlight.
For a few moments, they were just panting and laugh every time they caught each other’s eyes.
“We got kicked out of a stranger’s wedding,” she wheezed.
“And we had fun while doing it,” Camilo retorted. “Don’t tell the adults though.” He added, just to be sure.
“Why?”
“Why? So we don’t get in trouble?”
“No, I mean, why did you take me? You could have taken one of your actual friends.”
“Because you were upset and I wanted to cheer you up. Dolores told me about Ramona.” He admitted, gently. “You wanna talk about it?”
Isabela just returned to being distant at the mention of her ex-girlfriend. She had almost forgotten about her. The memories of last night resurfacing as she watches the stars.
Ramona had liked stars, was planning to go study them abroad. Isabela had ransacked her Abuelo Sancho’s collection of books to find some about constellations and astrology to impress Ramona with facts and things, and it had worked.
But she hadn’t changed or hidden any part of herself. Ramona was dating the Isabela she had always known.
Which is what made the comment about her not meeting expectations rough. They hadn’t discussed any expectations for each other - relationships didn’t require them. So how on earth did Isabela fail to meet something that didn’t exist?
Fuck. Dating Mariano was simpler than this. At least Isabela knew where she was screwing up: hiding herself.
She gasped when Camilo threw himself into her arms in a hug. Immediately, she pulled him tighter.
“What’s this for?” She asked.
“For you, duh.” He mumbled. Camilo was trying not to cry, laughing as a cover. “Fuck Ramona. It’s her loss, you’re brilliant. And you don’t deserve to be sad because she’s a loser.”
“Poetic.” Isabela said, sarcastically.
“I try,” Camilo flipped his hair dramatically. “I mean it. Fuck Ramona and her expectations, whatever they were. You don’t have to meet expectations. Expectations are just stupid. You’re you and you’re amazing. You’re one of my closest friends and role models—”
“That’s concerning.”
“Stop making me laugh. You’re ruining the moment.”
“Can’t help it.”
“I’m trying to be serious right now.”
“Good luck with that.”
He almost laughed, genuinely, that time. But he wasn’t going to let himself be distracted - this was too important. For good measure, he put a hand over Isabela’s mouth. She was smirking underneath; he could feel it.
“I know things about perfect expectations are still kinda hard for you, but don’t let this one idiot bring you down. Ramona doesn’t know you like we, I, do. There’s nothing about you, on the inside or outside, that needs changing or hiding, just because some random decides it’s not good enough for them.”
Under his hand, there’s a muffled, “There’s nothing wrong with my outside. I’m gorgeous.”
“Great! So apply that same logic and confidence to your inside. You can’t really believe that someone knows how you should act better than you do. Trust me, I’m an actor.”
“I can’t. It’s different.”
“Why’s that?” Camilo asked, removing his hand. Isabela was no longer smiling. He wasn’t asking to catch her out or tell her she’s wrong, but just willing to offer an ear— God, he’s more of Dolores’ brother than he realises, isn’t he?
“I don’t know. It just is…” she shrugs a little. “My inside was the part I changed, the part I believed was wrong. People are forming real connections because they like or dislike me, not my appearance. I’m not bothered…” she sighed, turning away. “We were doing so well and it just came out of nowhere. Mona couldn’t even give a reason. If it’s something I’ve done, how am I suppose to fix it for my next partner?”
Camilo nodded in understanding.
He couldn’t relate to his cousin, but what she was saying made sense. He could see why it upset her and why she blamed herself.
“You can’t,” he said. “You can’t fix it. Someone will come along and maybe they will like you or maybe they won’t. Not everyone likes everyone. I don’t think you’ve done anything wrong. If you had then Ramona would have an actual reason to break up, right?”
“I guess.”
“So whatever it is, it’s on her and it’s out of your control.”
Isabela nodded. She smiled a bit.
“Do you feel any better?” Camilo asked. Admittedly, a little hesitant.
She snorted. And for a minute, she looked like she was about to say no. Then she softened, “Yeah, I do. Thank you, Camilo.”
“Good, I’m glad,” he said. “It’s my job to make people happy, but I care about you. So it’s from a place of love, not work, okay? But, uh… Did you have fun tonight? Or last night? I’m not sure what the time is.”
From the grin covering Isabela’s face, he could already guess the answer, but being pulled back into a hug was the real confirmation.
“The most fun I’ve had in years.”
An idea crept into Camilo’s head, just as they started making their way back home.
“Hey, are you tired yet?” Camilo asked. He stopped and Isabela looked at him, strangely. “I’m not tired and I’ve got an idea how we can make this night even better.”
“I’m listening.”
When the pair awoke the next morning, they were instantly questioned by the adults of why they had been out so late and why there were several angry townspeople waiting outside Casita. They shrugged it off and laughed, claiming they had no idea. Ultimately, nobody worked out it was specifically them who had crashed the wedding. But the town was ripe with gossip about two infamous wedding rashers, and Dolores seemed to be suspiciously glancing their way.
And, well, watching Ramona clean eggshells off her roof was just the icing of the cake.
Gabi grew up watching her mother date a variety of men, none of them truly giving her what she needed. A slow resentment toward her biological father began to grow, as she watched her mother experience heartache after heartache. She became an angry little thing, defensive and emotional. When, as a young teen, she witnessed bullying at school, she responded with violence. Everything from punching the bully in the face to setting their car on fire. She got detention frequently and was suspended on numerous occasions. It was only when she saw how her actions affected her mother that she stopped and straightened herself out.
It was through a DNA kit that she found Christian Reeves, her biological father. She didn’t want anything to do with him, but law school was expensive and she needed the money. She contacted him to ask for the funds, and to her surprise he gave them to her.
It was in her first year of college that she ran into August Leiman, an old bully from her teen years. At first she was cold to him, but once she realized he had changed and genuinely wanted to be a better person, she warmed up to him. They started hanging out more frequently and eventually started dating.
Unfortunately, when August came out to her as aromantic, she did not take it well. Believing that everything had been a lie, she broke up with him, accusing him of never having cared about her and other cruel things. It was in this anger and feelings of betrayal that she sent a long email to Christian, releasing those same feelings that she had toward him for leaving her mother and never being around during her childhood. To her surprise, Christian didn’t respond out of anger. This started a back and forth between them, slowly working on a relationship of open communication and support.
She ran into August nearly a decade later and apologized for how she’d reacted. By this time she’d researched aromanticism and realized that the love he’d had for her had still been real, even if it wasn’t romantic. Over time they got back together and even got married. She remained in contact with Christian, and decided to surprise him with a visit so she could introduce him to August. Unfortunately when they arrived, Christian was gone. Finding out where he went, she and August followed him, down into Huntsville.
Earlier this week I posted a dreamcast full of Courtneys as a nod to the high number of Courtneys in Six. I’ve also been working on a few others whose names had also been used three or four times. This time…the Gabriel(l)as/Gabrielles.
