The "how to draw manga" series produced by Graphic-sha. These are for manga artist but they give great advice and information.
"Creating characters with personality" by Tom Bancroft. A great book that can help not just people who draw cartoons but also realistic ones. As it helps you with facial ques and how to make a character interesting.
"Albinus on anatomy" by Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle. Great book to help someone learn basic anatomy.
"Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Paul Richer and Robert Beverly Hale. A good book if you want to go further in-depth with anatomy.
"Directing the story" by Francis Glebas. A good book if you want to Story board or make comics.
"Animal Anatomy for Artists" by Eliot Goldfinger. A good book for if you want to draw animals or creatures.
"Constructive Anatomy: with almost 500 illustrations" by George B. Bridgman. A great book to help you block out shadows in your figures and see them in a more 3 diamantine way.
"Dynamic Anatomy: Revised and expand" by Burne Hogarth. A book that shows how to block out shapes and easily understand what you are looking out. When it comes to human subjects.
"An Atlas of animal anatomy for artist" by W. Ellenberger and H. Dittrich and H. Baum. This is another good one for people who want to draw animals or creatures.
Etherington Brothers, they make books and have a free blog with art tips.
📝As for Supplies, I recommend starting out cheap, buying Pencils and art paper at dollar tree or 5 below. If you want to go fancy Michaels is always a good place for traditional supplies. They also get in some good sales and discounts. For digital art, I recommend not starting with a screen art drawing tablet as they are usually more expensive.
For the Best art Tablet I recommend either Xp-pen, Bamboo or Huion. Some can range from about 40$ to the thousands.
💻As for art programs here is a list of Free to pay.
Clip Studio paint ( you can choose to pay once or sub and get updates. Galaxy, Windows, macOS, iPad, iPhone, Android, or Chromebook device. )

So do with this information as you will but as you can tell there are ways to learn how to become an artist, without breaking the bank. The only thing that might be stopping YOU from using any of these things, is YOU.
I have made time to learn to draw and many artist have too. Either in-between working two jobs or taking care of your family and a job or regular school and chores. YOU just have to take the time or use some time management, it really doesn't take long to practice for like an hour or less. YOU also don't have to do it every day, just once or three times a week is fine.

Another thing that’s got me thinking a lot is this take I keep seeing in regards to darker fiction, even relatively tame whump stuff, people going “it doesn’t matter that they’re fictional, it’s still wrong and you’re wrong and bad for wanting to write about it”. And it just seems like at some point people started thinking of characters as like. Real enough that you could actually hurt them. So it doesn’t matter if they’re fictional because what you’re doing in fiction is still harmful. And I try to chalk it up to an age thing, but there are grown adults doing this, and also, I was that age once. There’s a bunch of things in fiction I find uncomfortable and off putting and that I wouldn’t want to read about or watch, and I had friends at that age who felt the same way about the same things, but it wasn’t like. An identity. It was something we hardly talked about or thought about because we just. Didn’t like those things. And I guess I can’t tell if this really is something newer that appeared at a certain time, or if it was always here and I just don’t remember.

We did it boys we got our first game crash in oni 🎉
#rat rambles#oni posting#it's not even that far past cycle 300 yet my laptop just sucks ass#Ive made it further with more colonies and dupes before without a crash so I was a bit surprised at first#but also this is my first time coring out my starting planet so thats probably why#Im going to try to stick with this save as long as I can handle it but Im definitely not going to be able to make more colonies#or at least not any like active and populated ones#my current plan is to use my current dinky rocket to help me make a shit load of databanks and then research straight to the radbold engine#I've never rly worked with radbolts outside of research stuff so I thought it'd be a good experience to have#plus I usually use petroleum and well quite frankly I dont think I can do that rn#well I mean. I Could. but Id rly rather not until I can get my rocketry program set up properly#mainly because I rly don't wanna rely on the teleporters for my renovations of my teleport planet as I want at least a digger and a#scientist going over there and prefferably an extra dupe or two as well#theyd be there in atmo suits to activate the material transporters and dig into the oil biome and set up pipes and shit for the oil wells#and then Im going to transport the oil back to my home planet using the transporters and refine them there#then I can Finally get a gas range going and hopefully set up some extra generators#Im not sure if I want to use either full time yet but depending on how many oil wells there are Ill consider it#once I get all that set up then Ill probably start working towards setting up more farms so I can upgrade my food quality some more#and then grab jorge 👍#after that idk if Im super interested in doing too much more#I might do the rest of the story traits for funsies but other than that Im not sure if I can manage this world for long enough to get to#the real late game shit considering it's already chugging like hell rn#Ill probably have to deconstruct a bunch of latters and shit pretty soon to try to manage the lag better#and also sweep everything outside up even if itll take forever#Im at a good point where everything is rly stable eccept for my power gen#my power gen is currently perfectly acceptable and it will keep being good for a good while but its definitely not a permanent set up#I just dont have enough hatches and pips for my coal production to keep up and my pip ranch us become increasingly more and more of a issue#mainly because of how cold my base is and how annoying its been keeping the trees alive#another future issue I have to worry abt is my water tank overflowing#but thats a much easier problem to fix I just need to build a bigger tank

I got bored so here's a movie chart
I went to the List of biggest box-office bombs wikipedia article and put all the data into an excel sheet. I simplified the data by taking the highest estimates anytime there were ranges of estimated loss/budget. Then I made a neat little chart.
On the left axis you have the amount lost in millions, adjusted for inflation. Each dot represents a film and is placed at the year it came out.
So! What does this tell us?
This tells us that, even accounting for inflation, box office failures have been more and more expensive and more and more frequent. Which means two things - films are getting more and more expensive as are their failures... but also, those failures are no longer enough to kill studios.
It used to be that even a major production studio could risk dying out from one or two big budget bombs. It is no longer the case. A lot of the later ones, the second half of the 2010s and the 2020s, are Disney productions.
In fact! out of the 25 films on this list that came out in the 2020s, 15 are Disney or 20th Century productions (20th being owned by Disney). That's completely ridiculous. Those films all have budgets of 150 million dollars at least. They all lost at least 100 million dollars. And that is not accounting for the marketing budget of the films - it is generally accepted that a modern film's real budget is double its production cost, because studios will spend around the same amount marketing the film as they do making it.
The fact that Disney productions is not currently reduced to ashes is complete nonsense.
And that, dear readers, is what monopolies do for you. That is what "too big to fail" means. It doesn't mean too big to encounter failure... It means too big for any failure to really affect you.

#i dont even have anything against him other than the general bitter aftertaste of bbc sherlock#but like#do the people who make movies know that there are other guys out there#i dont need to see him pretending to be autistic ANYMORE!!#anyway louis wain is one of my favorite artists and his declining mental health actually did not have any provable effects on his artwork#he continued to paint cats in his iconic style alongside his experimental kaleidoscope cats at the end of his life#and he helped decorate the institution he lived in for christmas over multiple years with happy christmas kittens#he did not 'descend into madness' and even if he was schizophrenic that doesnt mean his surreal artwork would be a product of his condition#to imply that is to pretend schizophrenic people cant be creative and also to discredit Wains range as an experimental artist#his ceramic future cats are proof that he was interested in different styles even before he was institutionalized

Inflation genuinely might be what makes me go vegetarian idk
#went to co-op today looking for ~healthy snacks~ and girl whyyy are prawn cocktails £6 each#bro the other day i rang the pizza/burger takeaway just to get chicken nuggets; chips & barbecue sauce and my total WITH DELIVERY was £6.50#i love cheap yorkshire takeaway restaurants lmao#anyway is it any wonder people are not eating healthy. like that prawn cocktail is just part of my lunch. the nuggets and chips#were a WHOLE meal. it’s a generous portion!#anyway so i moved on from the seafood bit because it was just upsetting and £3.50 for one pack of HAM#i was like thanks but i can get a whole thing of marmite for that price and make god knows how much toast#or buy an actual GOOD block of cheese lol#i think the only meat product i got was some chicken bites that were on offer for £1. fruit wasn’t badly priced#so i got bananas; grapes and a yellow melon. and then i had an existential crisis in the yogurt aisle because i couldn’t remember#which one i tried at my friend’s house and liked. and i didn’t want to pay £2 to risk getting a bad one#being a grown adult who doesn’t like yogurt with bits in it is honestly a trial#but i bought breadsticks; a thing of crackers and a low salt sour cream dip. so i’m feeling okay#you know sometimes i really wish i liked nuts. they’re just not for me is all#personal
