Overcome Evil by The Spirit of The Lord (231) - February 3 2024
Play on other Podcast Apps It is time to go around the mountain once more. We as the Body of Christ must learn to speak to the mountains in the world that need to be removed (Mark 11:23). There are mountains everywhere to be cast into the sea. Mountains of captivity for the souls in Afghanistan. Mountains of sickness and disease in people’s bodies. Mountains of lack. We can use the faith that…

Words Matter. Read These and See If You Don't Agree
Read every word of this quote, and see if it sounds sane, or crazy. “Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father, but by me.'” (John 14:6, NIV) This short statement is amazingly full, and it’s worth challenging. It’s also worth considering. Depth Not Length First of all, consider the first two words: Jesus SAID. The spoken word is incredibly important in the…

Lesson 045: God Can Turn Things Around
Genesis 45:4-5 - And Joseph said to his brothers, “Please come near to me.” So they came near. Then he said: “I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt.  But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.
Joseph could have rightfully attributed all the setbacks and hardships in his life due to the actions of his brothers.  They threw him into a pit.  They mocked him.  They considered murdering him.  They sold him into slavery.  They ignored his cries for mercy and for help.  They were the reason he was separated from his father.  They were the reason he was a slave in Egypt.  They were indirectly the reason he spent two years in an Egyptian prison.
Let’s read together Leviticus 19:18; Matthew 5:38-39; Matthew 6:15; Romans 12:19; and 1 Thessalonians 5:15.
Joseph had the ability and plenty of reasons to get revenge upon his brothers.  Instead, Joseph let go of his past pain and forgave his brothers.  He even went a step further.  Joseph saw the good God wrought in his life despite the evil his brothers intended all those years ago.
God forgives us as we forgive others.  Even if you do not feel like forgiving others, ask God for the power to forgive them.  After all, Jesus died for us so that we could be forgiven of our sins.

📜 GENESIS 1:28–31
God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it…” God saw all that he had made, and it was very good…
🜏 NABERIUS: THE BLESSING THAT WAS A COMMAND
He did not bless. He ordered.
Multiply. Fill. Subdue. A trinity of colonization masked as divine favor.
The world did not rejoice. It braced.
The grass leaned away. The beasts grew wary. The stars flickered their discontent.
But deep in man’s chest, a second flame stirred— the one Lucifer lit.
And I smiled again.
“You may forget. But one day, you will ask the Question again.”

Ascension Day Double Bill
Happy Ascension Day! Here is a pair of videos to help you keep the feast.
“Opulent Ascension,” an installation by Sean Scully in San Giorgio Maggiore (Venice Biennale, 2019). Inspired by Jacob’s dream of a ladder to heaven (Genesis 28:12), Scully’s stack of colored felt slabs rises more than ten meters toward the luminous dome of San Giorgio Maggiore, Palladio’s splendid Renaissance church in Venice. Amid the subdued grays and whites of the interior, the miraculous…

Blast the Book of Genesis, Chapter 1 from the Bible so we can finally know what was the first creature God created.
[1:1] In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth,
[1:2] the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters.
[1:3] Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.
[1:4] And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.
[1:5] God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
[1:6] And God said, "Let there be a dome in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters."
[1:7] So God made the dome and separated the waters that were under the dome from the waters that were above the dome. And it was so.
[1:8] God called the dome Sky. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.
[1:9] And God said, "Let the waters under the sky be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear." And it was so.
[1:10] God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.
[1:11] Then God said, "Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it." And it was so.
[1:12] The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind, and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it. And God saw that it was good.
[1:13] And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.
[1:14] And God said, "Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to separate the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years,
[1:15] and let them be lights in the dome of the sky to give light upon the earth." And it was so.
[1:16] God made the two great lights - the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night - and the stars.
[1:17] God set them in the dome of the sky to give light upon the earth,
[1:18] to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.
[1:19] And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.
[1:20] And God said, "Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the dome of the sky."
[1:21] So God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, of every kind, with which the waters swarm, and every winged bird of every kind. And God saw that it was good.
[1:22] God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth."
[1:23] And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day.
[1:24] And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures of every kind: cattle and creeping things and wild animals of the earth of every kind." And it was so.
[1:25] God made the wild animals of the earth of every kind, and the cattle of every kind, and everything that creeps upon the ground of every kind. And God saw that it was good.
[1:26] Then God said, "Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth."
[1:27] So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
[1:28] God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth."
[1:29] God said, "See, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food.
[1:30] And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food." And it was so.
[1:31] God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

I bought Aziraphale's Bible so you don't have to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Am I insane? Yes. Was it worth it? Maybe. In most* of both season 1 and season 2 of GO, there's a very specific Bible on a bookstand next to Aziraphale's desk. It's a vintage illustrated plate book by Harold Copping, known as the Harold Copping Bible, published by the religious tract society in London in 1910. It features some of the most well known Old Testament stories, summarized and annotated by the Bishop of Durham at the time, and illustrated by Copping, who was freshly returned from a sojourn in the middle east. Ironically, It was meant as a lay-person's version of a comic book, short, exciting by use of exotic illustrations, and easy to read.
But my (expensive) gain is now your gain! As I've collected here every visible page in both seasons for your reading and viewing pleasure.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
S2E2 22:29, S2E2 40:05 Obviously, the plate illustrations and text look different here than in the real bible, because they were created for the show. But there are a few more particularities here. For one, this layout with the thin grid around the text, as well as the paragraph symbol next to the first title, indicate that this would have been a printer's proof copy, not a finished book. It shows you the layout grid and can be annotated for changes. Second, there seems to be a war going on between fonts. Where the "chapter" of Job begins, we get a font and a style similar to the original bible, which gets rudely interrupted by a dropped capital (from the real book) and a Gothic-style font/verse numbers like in the original King James version of the printed Bible.

Who is My Family and Who are My Friends? Who is My Mother, and Who are My Brothers? (277) – December 21 2024
Choose your Podcast App to Play this episode Although this is Christmas for some, many can not celebrate with family. Why, because Covid, political parties and religious beliefs have caused change within the family. Many look around and say, Who is my family? Relationships are the bedrock of life. In a very real sense, everything rises and falls on relationship. When I was young, my family was not rich. We did not get expensive gifts for birthdays or Christmas. But we had a lot of family time, family outings and so on. My mother gave us healthy food and made sure our stomachs were full. I secretly wished I was rich like some of my cousins, who had better things than we did. But at the time, I did not understand relationships were all that mattered. Nowadays, many parents want to spend more time by themselves, either on their phones or at work. They compensate by giving expensive gifts to their children. We must never allow things to take the place of relationships. Be in good relationship with people God has blessed us with, our families, our parents, our colleagues and those around us and ultimately life is about relationship with God and being reconciled to Him through His Son Jesus.
Genesis 1:28
And God blessed them...
God bless our families with peace, love, joy and righteousness. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Covenants, Old and New: Antiquated, or Cutting Edge?
Covenants are a more definitive way to describe contracts that have more substance, or are of greater importance. It has been applied most often to politics, real estate law, and religion. Outside of those parameters we don’t seem to use it much. Surely covenants are old-fashioned, a thing of the past, right? The Bible is an ancient book, and it speaks about them over and over: Where are…

Line Upon Line Lesson 001: The Image of God
Genesis 1:26 - Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
In the Creation in Genesis chapter 1, when God created something, we see the following phrase:
“Then God said, “Let…”
For example, “let there be light” (Genesis 1:3) or “let the waters abound with an abundance and  living creatures, and let the birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens” (Genesis 1:20).
However, when God made mankind, He said, “Let Us make man…”. It was as if God needed to have a consultation between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit first.  There was more deliberation in making man.
It is no wonder the psalmist exclaimed in Psalm 139:14 - “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.”
What did God mean when He said, “Let Us make man in Our image”?
When you think of the word “image,” you most likely think of a visual representation.  For example, “Look at baby Billy!  Why, he is the spitting image of his father!”
Let’s read together Ephesians 4:24 and Colossians 3:10.
“The image of God” perhaps is not a reference to a visual likeness, but a resemblance in spiritual character.  Humanity was originally made to resemble God in holiness and righteousness.
Finally, God created man to have dominion over all the earth?  What does this mean?
Let’s read together Ezekiel 34:2-4; 1 Peter 5:2-3; and Revelation 11:18.
When God gave man dominion over the earth and all that is, He did not give man a license for tyranny.  Man was not (and still is not) allowed to abuse animals and the environment for his own selfish purposes.  God gave man a responsibility to care for His creation.
The best way to understand the concepts of the image of God and dominion is to look at Jesus.  Jesus’ sinless life on earth gives us the best picture of what the image of God is.  Jesus has dominion over all creation, yet He willingly gave his life for us in order to give us an opportunity for salvation.
Even now in this sin-sick world we have the potential to reflect the image of God as followers of Jesus.

“He is not here; he has risen!”
Luke 24:6
All the symbolism I used in this piece-
Matthew 28:1 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb
Matthew 3:16- As soon as Jesus was baptised, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him
Matthew 13:45-46 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it
John 19: 2 And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and placed it on his head
Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree”
Hosea 14: 5-6 I will be like the dew to Israel; he shall blossom like the lily; he shall take root like the trees of Lebanon; his shoots shall spread out; his beauty shall be like the olive
Genesis 8: 11 And the dove came back to him in the evening, and behold, in her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the waters had subsided from the earth
