maybe it was the thought of mason moving to the other side of the country, but a sadness sat with the triplet. in amongst all of the panicking she'd been doing as to why they'd been summoned together in the way that they had, the thought of one of the family moving somewhere far away hadn't actually crossed her mind. she liked that they were all close together. but it did seem like a more likely option than one of their parents being incredibly sick out of the blue.

"wait, what?" caroline's appearance at least meant that the sisters were safe and sound, another worry crossed off the list of potentials. now there was a whole new problem to deal with. "where did you hear that? did dad tell you? and why did he tell you first?" in a family as big as theirs, there was always going to be someone who knew the details first –– rachel just didn't like when it wasn't her.

"tell us what you know, right now." they still had time, before their parents turned up she was sure. "you have to spill. triplet privilege and all that."

The eldest of the Charlotte King and Cooper Freedman triplets, Georgia spent the first few weeks of her life fighting for it. Thanks to modern medicine, she was able to survive after being born at only 26 weeks old. If you ask her, this would have been enough to get her interested in neonatology, even without the influence of having two parents for doctors and various more surrounding most of the adults in her life at an early age. There was nothing more obvious than to give back to the universe in the way she had been saved. Unlike her sister Caroline, her eyes were never set on leaving California.

High school was a bit more lax for her as well. She played volleyball and soccer and spent time volunteering at the hospital in any way her mom could get her through the doors, but she also made time for her friends and a long term boyfriend named Liam. She worked hard in school and was accepted at USC and later the Keck School of Medicine. Even as an undergrad, she was focused on networking with the neonatology adjunct faculty from the moment she stepped onto campus. Despite going to different schools, she and Liam had agreed to stay together, but they broke up after he was outed for cheating on her by a mutual friend during her sophomore year.

Upon medical school graduation, Georgia completed her her residency and fellowship at USCF Children’s Hospital in San Francisco. Upon completion of her fellowship, she accepted a job at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles through her position as an clinical instructor at her alma mater. While staying at USCF, one of the top hospitals in the US, Georgia had decided she wanted to stay close to her family. Ultimately, she couldn’t imagine settling anywhere too far from them especially when Caroline announced she would finally be returning from the East Coast. Georgia has hopes of being the head of the department one day, but for now is ecstatic to go to work every day to save the lives of babies and inspire medical students to work hard to do the same.

Georgia & Charlotte Headcanons

1. Charlotte has different go-to lullabies she sings for each of her children. Georgia’s is most definitely “Georgia on My Mind”.

2. Although she’s a triplet, Georgia is considered the “baby” of the family. They get into fights because Charlotte is so protective of her.

3. The CharCoop family is very musically talented, because Cooper plays piano and Charlotte can sing and play guitar. Georgia ends up being the most musically gifted child, and Charlotte secretly loves to teach her new songs and stuff.

4. After giving birth, Charlotte has frequent nightmares about Georgia not making it. Cooper consoles her (he’s had a couple himself), but she can’t fully calm down until she holds Georgia in her arms.

Georgia pivoted in the doorway, the tone in Rosalie's voice not lost on her. There was no way she could deny her friend's request without feeling like one of the most terrible people on the planet. Her parents would surely understand why she'd be out past curfew that night, wouldn't they? Either way, she'd shoot them a text once at least the majority of the other blonde's problem had been sufficently solved.

"I'm not goin' anywhere," she promised with a small hint of a warm smile for further confirmation. "Do you wanna talk about it, or would silent support be better right now?"

rachel leaned back in her chair, fingers playing with the ends of her hair. it was true, this was the worst. she hated waiting around, she hated not knowing, she hated being unsure. and being summoned to the king-freedman dining room to wait for their parents without any information as to why. “okay but really, what’s going to happen?” she asked, looking over towards her sister. “mom’s gonna be pissed for a while, dad will calm her down and tell her it’s not a big deal. it’s what always happens.” but they’d never been summoned and sat around the dining room table for so long without knowing at least a little. “unless you think something’s happened? what if they’re sick? or caroline? where even is she?”

Georgia King Battle (May 25, 1895 - September 23, 1980)

Georgia King Battle was born in Kinston, NC on May 25, 1895, the daughter of Harriet and Frank King. After completing all the education that was available to her as an African American in the Kinston City Schools in the early 1900s, she completed high school at the Mary Potter Academy in Oxford, NC.

Battle graduated from Lincoln Hospital Nursing School in New York City, and returned to Kinston where she became the county’s first public health nurse in 1922. Battle briefly moved to Washington, DC, and worked at the Freedman’s Hospital, but soon returned to Lenoir County. She resumed her job as a public health nurse and stayed almost 40 years until her retirement.

She received both a Service Award and a Certification of Merit from the NC Division of Health Services. On May 29th, 1977, the Lenior Memorial Hospital Nursing Alumni Association honored her as a “Pioneer Nurse” at a tea.
