hello hello hello everyone!!!! local weird archivist, lesbian, and mythology nerd here. did you know I also make stuff? now you do, and even better you can get some custom stuff!!

I make a lot of book recommendation lists for friends and work (check out some examples here), and I realized I have a lot of fun doing it, so I want to do it for other people!! if you would like custom recommendations on any topic you’re interested in, fill out the commission form here and I’ll make you one!!

I also have a literal degree in music, and one of my friends recently commissioned me to transcribe some of her favorite songs into (viola) sheet music; I hadn’t even thought of that as a commission idea before but now that I’ve done it I think it’s super cool, so if you want a song for you or a friend or sibling or parent put onto sheet music and you can’t find it online, commission me here!! I really want to do these, so please do commission me! I can translate vocal lines to instrument lines, straight up notate existing vocal/guitar/bass lines, and even do extra stuff if you have more time and money (email me, I would love to do complex projects!!)

I wish there was a way for people to make music anonymously.

(I know people do that but hear me out)

I've seen so many extremely talented artists who stopped putting out music because they didn't like being in the public eye.

Tracy Chapman and Shiloh Dynasty are good examples of this.

Shiloh's music and voice are pure gold and she wanted to stay completely anonymous while creating. In her words "I'm not a look, I'm a feeling". But the bigger her music got, the more people started digging into her personal life and then they started posting pictures of her face online. Assumably leading Shiloh to disappear from the internet completely. She stopped putting out music. People even thought she was dead. But it was apparently because she didn't like the spotlight.

Sia also tried to be anonymous by covering her face but the minute she became super famous, she was basically doxxed instantly.

That's why I feel like we'd be getting a lot more genuine, unique, breathtaking music but fame scares people away and discourages them from sharing their talent. And I don't blame them.

Not everyone wants the popularity and accolades. There's nothing wrong with wanting those things but its not for everyone.

"FEARGHAS!!!" Emmet jumpscare! "A little bird reminded me that it is your date of arrival today. Actually. It was a big bird. A verrry big bird. And Archeops did not really do anything particular to remind me... I am not sure if she even knew herself-" He mostly just remembered because of her resemblance to a majority of Fearghas's own passengers.

"I am getting off track. Let me start over. Happy birthday! I am not very good at giving gifts, but I got you this!" He held out a little wooden whistle that was carved and painted to look like a Rookidee. "The store clerk said it is a bird whistle. I am not sure if that means it is a whistle for flying types to use, orrrr if it is a whistle that resembles a Rookidee's cries... But it is definitely a whistle!" He gave a few excessive nods. "So I hope you are able to find some use in it." Whistles were technically a kind of instrument, right? Sort of? Maybe???

“Aye you're right Emmet,” Fearghas explained as he looked at the whistle. “A whistle is a wind instrument, like a flute. I would say that a flute is a larger version of a whistle in a way, but before I go on a tangent about wind instruments…thank ya Emmet for giving this tae me!”

He thought it was fantastic that it looked like a Rookidee, since it reminded him of his Corviknight Bishop back when he was one. 

Smiling at Emmet, Fearghas exclaimed, “This is well detailed, it’s pure quality! It’s well nice, thanks Emmet. Maybe I will put it on my shelf or desk, since tae me it looks tae beautiful for me tae actually use. When my ban from Unova is over, I could bring that with me tae Gear Station and test it out there. I think the sound would have more echoes due tae how large the station is…I think. I can compare it tae what it sounds like in tae stations in Galar and see if it sounds different.”

heya! Hope you’re well! Had a nice day today :) Woke up around 10:45, it was a hot night so I didn’t fall asleep until the early morning. I fried up some bacon and had it with some toast for breakfast (I had that passionfruit curd on my toast again, so yummm). While trying to make a coffee I thought I broke the coffee machine. I felt like I was pulling a lever on a train track when I was pressing the pod in the machine. Turned out I hadn’t emptied the receptacle for ages and dirty coffee water started flowing out of it lol. I thought it broke on the inside or something. False alarm tho.

After enjoying my coffee and breakfast I got ready to leave the place I was house-sitting with my sister. Packed up my clothes, cleaned up my room, and made sure I had everything with me. We took the dog with us for a lil car trip to meet my mum at my home. She was so sweet with her. We went for a good walk and then I said goodbye to my sister and the doggo. I had such a fun time chilling with them, so I was a little sad. After that I unpacked my stuff and relaxed with Prue for a while. I missed her so much!

I also unpacked my Christmas stocking, which I hadn’t realised was stuffed! I wasn’t expecting it as I just wanted to take it out as decoration. I got a really sweet assortment of gifts including one of my favourite sweets, a cool Mario Bros ornament, and chocolate coins amongst some other nice things! (Check out the attached pic!) Such a lovely surprise. We then had dinner (the last of the Christmas leftovers), and I’ve been chilling on the couch with Prue until now! I think I’m gonna work on the vocals for ‘Achilles’ tomorrow! I’ve been itching to get to them but was too tired after all the social stuff of December. I’ve also been listening to the track list of ‘elsewhere’ with my cheap earphones (or earphone, the right side broke ages ago) to see how it sounds on a different listening device. It’s something I do with everyone one of my releases before I put it out, and the songs sound great! A bit more treble is present in the sound, but the songs still feel balanced and close to the listener. Alrighty, I think that’s gonna be all for now! Thanks for reading and take care of yourself <3

Some people get so unfathomably judgy and self-righteous about artists and authors of fan content asking for comments and shares for their art, as if this is some greedy, grubbing, bottom feeding behavior. Do you look upon the street violinist with their hat out to receive tips with disdain? Do you not consider it rude of a man to stand and listen to the street saxophone player’s entire set, and leave no tip? Do you despise the cast of the play expecting applause after each scene? Is it vile and pathetic that the person who gives you a gift each year on the day of your birth excepts some smile or, “Thank you,” or a hug for their presenting you a present?

Genuinely, if you are someone who has some issue with artists being owed some positive feedback or thanks for their work, look at a paper on Gift Reciprocity, because it is and always has been an intrinsic part of human society, and if you’re ignoring and not just refusing to partake in it, but actively hostile against the rest of your species for behaving in a way traditionally innate and expected, not to mention beneficial, you personally are the one acting out of line and failing to properly engage in human society, and it’s important to understand and remedy that. Genuinely.
