The best thing about the Super Secret Evil Organization in Detective Conan is the soap opera level of dramatics between all the members, like Bourbon hates Rye because he blames him for his bestie Scotch’s death, Rye is in cahoots with Kir to fake his death which means Bourbon also dislikes her because he wanted to kill Rye, literally everyone hates Gin because he is the worst (except for Vodka, whose sole job in the Organization appears to just be being Gin’s emotional support henchman), but special shout-out to (1) Vermouth who might be sleeping with Gin in addition to hating him, and (2) Rye who hates him in an intense and weirdly romantic way because Gin killed his girlfriend, said girlfriend has a little sister who Vermouth and Gin both really hate and whose death Bourbon nearly caused/faked. Rum is in there somewhere.

Do you think fictionjunction could do the ending or opening for the new madoka movie? I feel like since kalafina doesn't exist anymore, the more logical option to me is fictionjunction, Keiko is still there after all :( I would love so much if they get at least an insert song or something like that, it would give them huge exposure as a band, I feel like I'm the only one but I wish FJ could be like the continuation of kalafina in some way T_T

This feels like such a throw-back to 2021 when "Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Walpurgisnacht – Rising" was first announced. I made a post about it here =>

Everyone was super hyped and hoped that this would be Kalafina's best chance for a reunion. I think they even trended on Twitter for a while thanks to everyone's speculations. Who would have thought that it would take the creators another two years to get to a point where they could finally make some proper announcements and reveal a tentative release date. However, we still don't know who is going to be in charge of the OP/ED...*sighs* Just a couple of days after I had made the above post, I received an ask about whether or not I thought that Kalafina would be involved in the project.

Not much has changed about my opinion since then. As long as Wakana is with Space Craft, I don't see a reunion happening so it is very unlikely that Kalafina will be singing any of the tie-ins. As for other options, I still feel like a solo gig for Hikaru (maybe as FictionJunction feat. Hikaru?) would be the best idea. This way, the work is paying tribute to the original Kalafina songs but there's no weird sense of replacement. And let's be real here, no one needs a proper breakthrough more than Hikaru. I hope that she will eventually be able to sign up with Highway Star. In her current state as freelance artist, I'm afraid the Madoka Magica creators won't even consider hiring her (connection to YK notwithstanding). Having the support of a solid agency could probably restore some of the credit she has undoubtedly lost as artist during the last year.

Re: FictionJunction => Maybe it's just me but I am not particularly eager to see FictionJunction or even Hikaru and Keiko be in charge of a song because it would feel like they are trying too hard to be Kalafina 2.0. Yeah sure, Joelle or LINO can take up Wakana's role but for me, Kalafina is not Kalafina without Wakana.

I see your point of course and for many this option would probably be better than nothing but I wonder if huge exposure for FictionJunction is even something Yuki Kajiura would want...I don't think it has ever been her goal to gain mainstream success with her FictionJunction project. But who knows...

Maaaan, I love this era of Detective Conan currently airing in Arabic right now, the art style was at its absolute peak in the anime. Love the more grounded, undersaturated colours. It gives it a feel like a live action mystery show, it's really nice. Love the highlights. It feels like the anime took a more realistic approach to how it drew, while still largely being very Aoyama Gosho about the faces and proportions... it's just really slick and clean.

(It's around The Clash of Red and Black.)

I especially love how Gin is drawn in these episodes, it's more grounded. I am not a fan of how he looks when the anime tries too hard to mimic Gosho's style later on, what works in his style, does not always work animated or drawn by someone else...

Plus: I miss when you could see so many individual strands of hair like that, isn't it great? It looks like hair.

The episodes around the 400s to the 600s in my opinion are the most appealing Detective Conan looks.

Haibara also looks her absolute loveliest in the episodes where she has to make her decision whether or not to go through a witness protection program (maybe around the 340 point?). I do miss the gold highlights her hair had in the first art style, though! ;_; She looks like she just has light brown hair. Her chappatsu/tea-coloured hair should have a touch of gold to it...

The episodes where they're trying to figure out who Okiya is, the Bourbon mystery... that's the closest Haibara ever looked in the anime to the way Gosho colours her (he gives her very light blonde hair in his illustrations, it's a little funny, it looks more kinpatsu/gold-coloured hair...)

There's also the period of time where she's depcited more like a strawberry blonde, which also fits how Gosho coloured her hair in the past (you see it in the standard Sherry's Soliluqoy/Sherry's Own Comment illustrations, where Sherry gives her thoughts on each new chapter, on the Conatsu website!)

Strawberry blonde Haibara was also pretty accurately depicted in the anime for a while!

But for all newer illustrations, like the Christmas ones, he gives her very light blonde hair with just a hint of red/orange.

Gosho changes up how he colours Haibara's hair in his colour pieces as much as shoujo mangaka change up their characters' hair colours in colour pieces...

... yeah, this was originally a post appreciating my favourite eras in the Detective Conan anime's art style, but I had to go off on a tangent about my favourites' hair. (I actually really liked the blonde hair Gin had in the beginning of the anime, silver definitely grew on me, and that in-between dull and silvery blonde in Clash of Red and Black is pretty cool, as they slowly made him look more like his manga counterpart, who was depicted with silver hair as early as Street Corner of Betrayal.)

The other characters are easier, with their more standards black/very dark brown hair, it's Gin, Sherry, and to a degree, Sonoko, who have other hair colours that stand out, and some of the foreigner characters (and whatever Vermouth might be)...

Info: Yuuno became overprotective of her brother in childhood because he would often get bullied. She would hit first and ask questions later whenever she saw her brother cornered, but this behavior led to a form of codependency between the twins with Yuugo relying on Yuuno to always get him out of trouble and save him. Yuugo chooses to go to a farming trade school out in the sticks to get away from it all, and Yuugo goes with to watch out for him. However, in this new environment and surrounded by interesting new people, Yuugo and Yuuno slowly learn to find their independence from each other, branching out from their small closed-off world. Yuuno especially thrives here, loving the animals and fresh food while figuring out what she wants to do with her life.

it's about time the rest of the mafioso meet the mystery lady that is the wife of the boss herself.

warnings. possible slight spoilers and grammatical errors.

the boss of the port mafia is like a pandora box. sure, the government knows him; the armed detective agency knows him; his subordinates know him. but that's it. he is a dangerous individual one wouldn't want to run into. know or see too much, and you might see what's inside that pandora box yourself. so no one really bothered (nor dared) to look more into neither his life nor the mysterious lady both the boss and elise sometimes bring up.

mori is a peculiar man. the same can be said for you, the very spouse of the fearsome boss of the port mafia. you are an interesting enigma of composed maturity and gleeful adolescence. you can be responsible and controlled. but being young as you are, between you, your husband and elise, a childlike petulance and exuberance sometimes peek out like a loose lint.

elise sees you like a mother. your somewhat similar childish side makes mori thinks that you really are destined to be her mother. (you both bond over by regularly bullying mori. but let's not tell him that).

it just so happens that it's this side of you that the rest of the mafia get to witness first. mori doesn't exactly keep secrets about his little crime organization, since you essentially work for him and a mafioso yourself. you've read the profiles of some of his subordinates, and they look quite.. severe. so naturally, as the spouse of their boss, you have to wear your "cool mask" if you get to meet them someday, right?

that was the plan. but your husband wasn't exactly helping. you weren't informed about any ongoing meeting. so you just skipped your way and barged into the room like some shoujo protagonist, excited to greet mori and elise.

a stifling silence meets you. various eyes suddenly flit to your form, peeking from the dim lightings of the meeting room. if not for a little dose of uncertainty on the mafia members' part, either gin's steel blade, akutagawa's rashomon, or the katana of kouyou's golden demon might end up pressed against your neck; threatening you for your identity.

"oh, my wonderful wife! how nice of you to visit us here!" mori's voice reaches out from the back of the long table, cutting the tension like scissors against a taut string. no sound came out from the others. but you can tell some bodies shift in their seat and some blades are sheathed to its place.

if anyone dares to drop a comment, it will be the regal wielder of the golden demon. "you must be the boss' spouse?" kouyou raises her voice among the silence. "you are indeed beautiful, like how he likes to brag around," she titters, her sleeved hand closing against her laugh.

as the wife of their boss, you command respect, and with respect did they serve you. much more so after you decide to join the unusual meeting, cutting in during precise moments and offering effective, almost scarily cunning and shrewd inputs.

exactly because of this, most members like hirotsu, gin, and the others regard you highly. the mafia is in good hands. while mori is a splendid leader—despite a few loose screws—and you are more than capable of covering any existing loopholes.

tachihara might want to keep a more watchful eye on you. you're a dangerous individual, that much he can tell—you'll know what i mean once you catch up with the hunting dogs arc :)

kouyou gets along well with you! it's been a while since she got the company of a fellow refined woman. she's heard stories of someone described as "wonderful" and "beautiful" as the boss' spouse. but once she gets to know you, she finds your occasional childlike side refreshing and endearing. (mori, at some point, might sulk at how often you hang out with with kouyou ever since).

chuuya is relieved by your presence. as stated before, mori has a bit of loose screws. so his decisions can bring out the best for the organization, yet sometimes be a little bit extreme. despite your intermittent laid-back side, chuuya trusts that with your presence in the mafia, he can be rest assured to continue pledging his loyalty. (if you're close enough, he might start calling you "ane-san" like how he does to kouyou).

higuchi looks up to you! especially by how quick you shift to your professional mode at the meeting. since you're young, you shouldn't be that far off in age. 'what if higuchi is as reliable and admirable as you?' she would think—not that she isn't reliable and admirable herself. but akutagawa might notice her by then, and maybe they can make an amazing couple like you and mori.

akutagawa's current concern is to prove himself, especially to his former senior. so it's likely that he wouldn't think much about you except that you're the boss' mysterious spouse. regardless, akutagawa needs help; he's a splendid member of the mafia, but he is still a raw, unpolished diamond. you can choose to mentor him like how mori mentored dazai and kouyou mentored chuuya. but be careful of doting him or expressing worry for him because he might get offended and thinks he's weak, then becomes more unstable.
