Mazda RX 87 Concept, 1967, by Bertone. Presented at the 14th Tokyo Motor Show, the RX 87 was the last Mazda designed by Giugiaro while he was still working for Bertone. It went into production in 1969 as the Luce R130 Coupé and remains the only front wheel drive rotary engined car Mazda ever produced. It sold very badly, with less than 1000 cars being made

ASA 411 GT
An ASA is a rare appearance, as it was produced in low numbers. If you're lucky, you may run into a rare 1000 GT, but the chance that you will find the ultra rare 411 Berlinetta is next to impossible. ASA (Autoconstruzioni Societa per Azioni) was a relatively unknown Milanese manufacturer, who, despite its short existence from 1962 to 1967, makes up a special piece of the Italian automotive history. Enzo Ferrari laid the foundation. At the end of the 1950s, he set out to place a smaller car on the market and saw to the development of the "Ferrarina" - the "Small Ferrari". Big names were involved in the development of the car. The bodywork was designed by Giugiaro at Bertone, its tubular frame was created by Bizzarini, and the mechanical part including the engine came from Ferrari itself. After completion of the project, Enzo Ferrari, afraid of reputation damage, stopped short of placing the mini Ferrari on the market under his name. Orionzo de Nora, an Italian industrial, took over the project from Ferrari and founded ASA in 1962. At the 1962 Turin Motor Show, ASA made its world debut with the ASA 1000 GT. The 1000 GT delivered a brilliant performance with the 1032 cc engine supplying 91 hp and a top speed of 190 km/h. In the early 1960s, only 2 litre sport engines could deliver such results. However, the 1000 GT had one huge disadvantage: its extravagant cost. Car sales did not really take off, and in total just over 100 examples were delivered. At the end of 1965, ASA, ailing by then, tried to revive the brand with the introduction of the 411 Berlinetta, a further development of the 1000 GT. The engine size of the 411 was increased to 1092 cc and the car was now bodied in aluminium. It is said that only four examples were built of the 411 Berlinetta, three of which were used for competition purposes and equipped with synthetic glazing for weight savings. The only 411 Berlinetta which was not used for races, but delivered for regular driving and fitted with glass windows, is this car.

I heard some bad news on the Golf... Feels like it's the end of an era. People chose bigger, non practical, weird looking, non rational SUV's and the epitome of function over form in car design is no longer a best seller. That's sad and tells a lot about our day and age.
Nonetheless, I've always been fond of the Golf. Maybe it's the aura of a Giugiaro design, maybe it's the simplicity of its lines or maybe I just like little boxes. It's true, newer generations have lost that mojo. Mk5 is dull, mk6 is blobby, mk7 was pretty interesting on the other hand. Mk8... well, let's not talk about it. Yes, I like the boxier ones. More boxy, more better!!! So, with that in mind, I just doodled something more faithful to it's boxy giugiaresque origins. And that's all.

😳1984 Alfa Romeo Sprint Quadrifoglio Verde "Grand Prix”😳 The Sprint used the front-wheel-drive platform and flat-four engine from the Alfasud. It was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign in the 1970s, but by the 1980s, the styling had evolved with bigger bumpers and spoilers and a revised nose. The Grand Prix special edition was just 100 cars based on the Quadrifoglio Verde with a 1.5-liter boxer engine. • • Visit www.Story-Cars.com • • #storycars #carpage #conceptcar #conceptcars #rarecar #rarecars #prototype #prototypes #giorgettogiugiaro #giugiaro #giugiarodesign #alfaromeo #alfaromeosprintquadrifoglioverde #alfaromeosprintquadrifoglio #grandprix #flat4 #flat4nation https://www.instagram.com/p/Cg0HWfHJHz2/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The much-anticipated ‘The Golden Age of Rally’ exhibition has now just opened at @mautotorino in #Turin #Italy #goldenageofrally #bellamacchina Think of rallying in any decade since the 1960s and there’s likely to be one or two cars that stand taller than the rest. That’s not just down to their #speed or agility, but because of legends behind their inception and the successes they earned on the rally stage. For the late Luigi ‘Gino’ Macaluso, it was the Fiat 124 that he co-drove in the 1972 European #Rally Championship that would eventually lead his son to create this #incredible showcase of rallying masterpieces. Despite abruptly turning his back on #rallying to focus on his new watch distribution business just a few years into his emerging rally career, Gino remained a car-lover, and appreciated them far more than most. As Gino’s son, Stefano mentions, “He thought cars resulted from the genius of designers and engineers. Michelangelo created artworks and sculptures during the Renaissance, but my father held Alec Issigonis and Giorgetto #Giugiaro in the same esteem.” #classiccarsdaily #getoutanddrive #classiccarspotting #retrocar #schudecar #vintagemotors #instacar #asundaycarpic #automugshots #carspotter #drivetastefully #SaveTheManuals #wickedwheels #carporn #auto #automotive #cargram #carstagram #carspotting #carsofinstagram #lancia 📸: @remidargegenphotographies (at Turin, Italy) https://www.instagram.com/p/CmMqt_qPJxI/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Maserati Ghibl Spyder 4.7L
The Ghibli design by Giugiaro at Ghia was masterful. This stylish model, presented at the Turin Motor Show in 1966, was the ultimate development of the front-engined V8 Maserati, allowing the marque to take a well-earned place in the market for Grand Touring cars. This was helped by the magnificent four-cam engine designed by Giulio Alfieri, powerful and robust, that was capable, in the 4.9-litre version, of powering the Ghibli to well over 250 km/h. Cars capable of such speeds were rare at that time. Keen to maintain their reputation for sophisticated styling, Maserati gave the car a level of finishing that was particularly elegant and polished. A pre-oil crisis baby that appeared before the widespread introduction of speed limits, the Ghibli represents the pinnacle of Italian GT cars. The Spyder version, unveiled at the 1968 Turin Motor Show, was even more striking with a hood that disappeared beneath a special panel to give the car a beautifully clean, pure line. Adding to the good looks and luxurious finishing was the outstanding engineering.
