I like to imagine Gordon getting increasingly flustered at the vortigaunts' nonstop praises. Just like, face slightly going pink, rubs the back of his neck and looks away all "aw, shucks".

Like, yes, Gordon Freeman is an unstoppable force of nature, but he's also like. Just a guy. He's a nerd and probably a little overwhelmed with suddenly being this Big Hero™️ that everyone is in awe over.

He's the guy who single-handedly WRECKED the Citadel with nothing but the gravity gun, destroying everything and/or one in his path, but like. They kidnapped his friends. NOBODY touches his friends without feeling the wrath of ten thousand supernovas.

But he's also the guy who fiddles with stuff in his friends' labs like a kid in a candy store. He's a man of multitudes.

This is also the time where I introduce my hc that Gordon's parents are VERY well off, financially. Based on very loose ideas of his travel to Austria in order to observe teleportation experements very soon after graduating from MIT. Where the fuck is all that money coming from. He's like 25 then.

Soooo, he had a hysterectomy early in his life, before coming to work at Black Mesa. Theres also hc stuff about his parents and how they would feel but ill get into that in another post, if ever. God hes turning into an oc at this point.

I finally managed to snag a Gordon Freeman off of eBay and can finally complete the orange box trio :D

I love all the sculpted details on the Freeman figure, scratches and little minute deets...the carbon fiber looking undersuit, his handz, the folds... teehee. The figure came with some alternate hands, the gravity gun, a spore pod, and a headcrab! ..that doesn't fit on his head lol. I was just really charmed by the crowbar though so no pics with the other stuff :p

While Heavy would've been more true to the box, Engineer will have to do (if you'll have him). Look at them. They're having fun. Ladidadidaaa

Overall, I do think Gordon Freeman is likely the best manufactured of the three. He's got nice details, he's well painted, and he's pretty damn well articulated. Also I just like how... thick he is. He's pleasantly shaped. I like holding him. He's also the most expensive (who'd guess). A HL1 Gordon I would give my kidney for but its fiineeeee.

I think Chell comes in second, honestly. I love her sculpted details, especially on her jumpsuit, and the portal gun is a fantastic prop with its little LED. Some of her joints are awkward, but her mobility isn't bad. Honestly her worst feature is her unfocused eyes, which can be fixed by only looking at her at certain angles. She's also the only one with a base (because she has a lot of trouble standing on her own).

Unfortunately that puts Engineer in last. I'd argue that getting the class card and special item with the figure is pretty sweet. The sculpting on its own is also really unique, and extremely faithful to the game's art style. Also I'm really biased because I love Engineer. Unfortunatelyyy, the mobility is pretty poor - the joints are really stiff - and sometimes the ball joints just fail (my engineer has a loose foot). Some figures get more stuff than others, and I think just generally the figures are all kind of silly looking with variable paint jobs. But it's worth it to have funny tf2 man on the shelf.

They all look great on my shelf and really that's what matters.

Hi buddy, can I request athletic Gordon from you? I think Gordon is very strong and agile considering what he does in both parts of the game in his heavy HEV suit...

This is what i always thought he would eventually look like cuz Gordon is a guy who probably sits at a computer all day or does whatever reseqrch assistants do. The only reall athletic things hes doing are in the test chamber and thats not gonna do much.

Thats what the hazard courses are for: they asses your physical ability in running, jumping, and swimming in order to determine what they need to drug you with.

Yeah im saying i think Black Mesa drugs its employees and that the only way a man like Gordon wirh the job he has made it out of Black Mesa is because of the gallons of morphine hes pumped with at all times and because Mesa is dosing him with steroids.

so i’m almost certain someone’s noticed this before, but i want to talk about it anyway.

i was walking home from therapy and listening to the half-life 2 soundtrack when i noticed something interesting. in a lot of the tracks (especially the ones that play in ravenholm) you can hear manhacks, turrets, etc in the background. this was shocking to me because when i first played through half-life 2, i would constantly get spooked by enemies that weren’t there. if i didn’t use subtitles to help me see when there were actual enemies, i would have been 10x more anxious and vigilant, i think. and i’m sure that anxiety and constant wariness was intended, especially in ravenholm where everything is new, dark, and more dangerous than before.

so i was wondering if gordon freeman could logically hear those sounds too, or if they were just there for the player experience. and i have discovered that it is pretty likely that gordon would also have been hearing these non-existent enemies.

although it’s not common, it is possible for morphine to cause hallucinations. since gordon has been doped up on morphine for about 3-4 days straight (in his perception at least) from the HEV suit, then it makes sense that he could be experiencing some unusual side effects. hallucinations are also more likely if the patient has underlying mental health conditions or personality disorders, and i think that the high-stress and traumatic situations that gordon’s gone through would count as one of those.

he would also have a bunch of other miserable side effects probably, like nausea, dry mouth, sweating, sleepiness. i imagine he’d get injected with adrenaline as well as the morphine, otherwise he’d probably pass tf out all the time.

It's also a score for the ground teams that swoop in to salvage any useable ammunition, plating, living enemy assets... that little candy can take even the most unstable enraged pilots and turn them into a cute drooling little cock sleeve for the entire clean-up team...
