Little Dance
Tumblr media
Forgive the title, I couldn't think of anything better and I just wanted to put this out since I said I would. Kinda rushed towards the end because it's almost my bedtime and I was too excited to post. But behold, the scene of a little dance between reader and Greg Tarzan Davis (also this is one of the few gifs I could find of him?? And idk how to make gifs myself so I guess this is just what's being used). This turned out to be a lot longer than I intended cause I got carried away once I started lol
I tried my best to make this gn!reader, but let me know if anything slipped up!
Warnings: none that I can think of while writing it and reading it back, but please let me know if anything stands out to anyone and I will certainly add it
You stayed in the studio after the dance class was over, practicing your choreo for a dance you were going to be teaching a few nights later. Being in the dance community, this was a common occurance among a lot of you; even though your fellow dancers had left for the night, sometimes you decided to stay for a little while after to perfect some moves, or just being in the moment with the music.
You were fairly well known among most actors and musicians, as most dancers are, since you collaborated with a lot of them for projects like music videos, movies, and the like. That's why it was no surprise that within the past year, you had met and became friends with the Top Gun sequels own Greg Tarzan Davis, who was actually supposed to be meeting you here for a few minutes before taking a late night flight back to wherever he was filming his next movie.
As if on cue, you see a figure behind you from the mirror wall standing in the doorway of the studio, arms cross and leaning against the frame. You stand up straight, a smile on your face as you walk to your speaker to pause your music.
"'Bout time you showed up," you began to walk in his direction, as he pushed himself off the doorframe, a smile on his own face as he met you halfway, holding his arms out for a hug as he did so.
"You know I could never leave without seeing my favorite person in the world."
"Oh, I know," you rested your head on his chest, arms wound around his body as he chuckled, it causing a slight vibration to reach your head.
"Don't get cocky now," he spoke, and you looked up to see him smiling back down at you. Greg had the most beautiful smile. It always seemed to reach his eyes and light up his whole face. His happy demeanor always made you warm inside; you were so glad to have someone like him as a best friend. It was very rare you had ever seen him in a bad mood. His chipper, goofy, fun personality always affected your own mood when he was around you.
You slowly started backing away from him, hands lingering on his sides as you did so. "Come here, I want to show you what I've been working on before you leave."
You walk back over to your speaker as you talk, pressing play once more as he took a few steps towards you.
"So, you already know I'm teaching a class in a few days, and I've been practicing some of my choreo for it, but I also want to somehow incorporate some moves from the Formation dance in Will's class. And I know you know those moves, you do them with me all the time to make fun of me, so you're going to do it with me. Come here."
He rested all his weight on one hip and crossed his arms, that perfect smile of his reappearing on his face. "Oh, am I?"
You raised your eyebrows as a way of saying "duh," and pointed at the ground next to you. "Yes, you are. Get your ass over here." He did as you told him, you sending him a sweet smile as he did so. "Thank you. Now, let me start the music back over cause we missed our cue, and then we can start." You did as you said you would, and walked back over to stand next to him again.
"Ready?" you asked him. He tsked at you in a playful manner before saying "you know damn well I got this."
"Okay, then prove it."
He smiled once more, and then you both began dancing. It started out innocent enough; you watched yourselves in the mirror to make sure you were getting the moves right, you laughed at each other, and you began a silent, non-agreed upon bet to see who could dance harder than the other.
Eventually during your small battle, Greg's moves caused him to move directly behind you, and you felt the ghost of a hand on your waist as you both continued to dance.
As the song came to an end and it was time to perform your last move, you turned around to face your dance partner. Using your right hand to grab his shoulder, you threw your head back and brought it back up, touching your forehead to his as his left hand found your waist again. Only this time, his grip was more firm.
Breathing heavily from dancing non-stop for a few minutes, you looked into each other's eyes as he spoke. "Was that good enough for you?" As you stared at him in silence for a few moments, a smirk grew on his face. You let out a breathy laugh.
Tilting your head slightly, you responded "it was okay. I think I was better." He smiled at you once again, shaking his head slightly. "Yeah, you were pretty good."
Heat flushed to your cheeks, which caused you to realize how close the two of you still were. His grip tightened ever so slightly, leading you to think he noticed as well. Your thoughts were confirmed when you noticed him begin to lean in.
"Can I kiss you?" he whispered. You spent a few moments looking into his eyes, thinking there was no way this was happening. His personality drew you to him very quickly, so it wasn't too long after you met him that you developed a crush on him. You've been hiding this crush for so long, thinking he could never like you back, and yet here he was asking to kiss you.
"Yes," you answered, hoping your pause wasn't giving him the wrong idea. He began to lean in a little more, and allowed you to lean in the rest of the way. And so you did.
You pulled away after a few moments, your breathing picking up as if you were just dancing again. "I'm not going to lie, I've actually wanted to do that for a while," you smiled at him again, feeling him relax at your words, in turn causing you to relax in his embrace and place your left hand on his waist.
"I'm sorry I did that right before I leave the country," he spoke softly, resting his head on yours once again.
"Don't be. I'm just glad you did it."
"I'm really going to miss you when I leave." You moved your hands to rest around the back of his neck, another smile appearing as you did so. "Well, I can always come visit."
"I'd like that."
"Just make sure you come back."
He pressed a quick kiss to your nose before responding, "I'd always come back for you."

We had the pleasure of interviewing Nikki Yanofsky over Zoom video! Montreal based jazz singer Nikki Yanofsky returns today with the release of her new album ‘Nikki By Starlight’ via MNRK Music Group – a 15-track voyage through vintage jazz standards from storied musicians Frank Sinatra, Chet Baker, Billie Holiday, Miles Davis, and more. ‘Nikki By Starlight’ was co-produced with the JUNO-winning producer/composer Paul Shrofel and features contributions from Stevie Wonder’s bandmate Greg Phillinganes, Nathan East (Eric Clapton, Herbie Hancock, Michael Jackson) and the iconic Cuban-American jazz trumpeter Arturo Sandoval. Yanofsky recorded these songs on a vintage RCA 77C, the microphone that was used by Ella Fitzgerald. Yanofsky’s transportive musical touch brings the Great American Songbook into the 21st century, providing a chance for new audiences and existing fans alike to fall in love with a refreshed style. Ultimately, ‘Nikki By Starlight’ is a mix of ballads, uptempo tracks and sambas that make you believe in teleportation. “Comes Love” has a real slinky vibe reminiscent of an old-fashioned speakeasy, “C’est Si Bon'' is a nod to 1960s Paris with a very classic French arrangement, “West Coast Blues'' features a pocketed ensemble with Greg Phillinganes on organ and a Lalo Schifrin inspired horn solo, and “Estate” is an Italian classic featuring Arturo Sandovel’s signature trumpet. With ‘Nikki By Starlight,’ Yanofsky continues to prove her artistry – stemming all the way back to when she sang the National Anthem on live television at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in front of 3.2 billion people. Yanofsky’s self-titled album ‘Nikki,’ released in 2010, gained the attention of the late prolific songwriter Rod Temperton (“Thriller,” “Rock With You,” “Boogie Nights”), who took her under his wing becoming her mentor, creative coach and musical champion. Her sophomore effort Little Secret, found Yanofsky exploring the velvet-clad sweet spot between jazz and pop with bold sentiments that signaled a self-assured coming of age. In 2020 she released ‘Turn Down The Sound,’ a 10-track LP (eOne Music) that showcases her independence and marks a newfound departure for her career as a young musician, earning praise upon release from Billboard, Uproxx, and more. 24/05/22. Around 9 am.
Last night. First, I started watching random musical performances. Popular musicians concerts. Chris Martin and this dude from the crowd performing Everglow together. The crowd singing Pompeii at the top of their lungs when Dan's mic stops working. Then classical music composers. Ben Folds composing a new song on stage when someone shouts Rock This Hall. Then random comedic performances. Greg Davies's My Nan Your Nan. The Play That Goes Wrong.
And then subway musicians. Bucket players. Buskers. Crowds singing along to songs played by buskers. The best thing about humanity.
Then I listened to a bunch of songs. My Type by Saint Motel. Counting Stars by OneRepublic. Can't Hold Us by Macklemore. Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood. Some Nights by fun.. High Hopes by Panic! At The Disco. And more. Just in my bed. Legs resting on the wall and back resting on the bed. An L-shape. Flailing my arms and legs around to "dance". Earphones fully in. Volume fully high. Trying not to scream the words to not wake up my sister next to me. The best feeling when everyone's asleep.
Then I read Solitaire. I think it's my favourite novel. Alice Oseman is a genius. And then they kiss. Deeply unhappy by this new development. I stop reading.
I try to sleep. But I can't for about half an hour. Then I'm asleep. Dreaming about nothings.
I wake up at 6:10 I think. Take my supplement for acidity. Think I'm going to wake up fully now. I fall asleep again. I wake up at 7:30. I don't know what happens for the next few minutes. I wake up fully sometime between 8:00-8:30. I'm definitely fully awake. I don't really want to get out of bed. I stay there. Just be. Don't use my phone. Don't look outside the windows. Just be.
And then I open YouTube. After last night's watches, youtube recommends a sax battle on a subway. A minute and 30 seconds long video. I watch and smile. I want more. I search for Sax Battles hoping to find other talented musicians breaking into songs in public places. I find a 6 minutes and 30 seconds long video of the same subway sax battle. I watch it. Smiling wide. It's beautiful.
Humans are beautiful. Fundamentally good. And creative. I love humanity. In that moment, I love humanity.

When you get this, please reply five things that make you happy and send this to the last ten people in your notifications 💙 (you don't have to answer this if you don't want to)
This is such a cute ask! 🖤 Sorry it took me so long to answer but here's my five things:
1] G/T Fluff!
Of course this is my first choice! I always find it so comforting to read/draw/daydream about cute g/t scenarios. I have pretty bad anxiety, but imagining a giant holding me and helping me through it always makes me feel better 🥺💕
I still need to get better at writing and drawing it, but you guys are always really supportive when I do post and it makes me love this niche interest + community even more! 🖤
(Plus the Iron Giant is my favourite animated film of all time and I'm 80% sure it's the reason I love giants, robots and animation as much as I do-)
Tumblr media
2] YUNGBLUD!
His music just means so much to me and I love everything that he stands for! I've been to four of his concerts so far and I swear he gets even more amazing every time 🥺🖤
When I saw him with my mom last week I completely burst into tears when he performed 'God Save Me (But Don't Drown Me Out)' cus I absolutely adore that song and being able to just shout along with the lyrics "I won't let my insecurities define who I am! Not gonna waste my life cus I've been fucked up!" Was something I really REALLY needed, he performed it at 3 of the shows I went to and every time it was perfect 😭🖤 Honestly a LOT of his lyrics resonate with me on a really personal level, but that one is definitely one of my all-time favourites 🖤🖤🖤

3] Collecting Things!
I have so many figurines, collectibles, plushies and things like that, I literally need new shelves to fit all my stuff on 😭😂 Plus my Ita Bag is stuffed full of pins and keyrings, I preordered the new NSP ALBUM which comes with a Pin and I'm gonna have to rearrange my whole bag to fit it in 😅
My parents are the same too, I blame them for making me such a nerdy hoarder 💀
I'm too lazy to find a pic of everything but here's my Funko Pop! Figures of Hologram Rick, Dom and the Iron Giant! 🥺🖤

4] Cartoons
I literally wouldn't be where I am today if I didn't watch cartoons, I literally want to make them for a living! 😂💕 I just adore animation so much, I won't list all of my favourites cus we'd be here for way too long but my Top Five are South Park, (Classic) Simpsons, Rick and Morty, Futurama and My Little Pony! 🖤 (And that's just the TV shows I like, if I listed films we'd definitely be here for too long)
Those shows have inspired me a lot over the years and I really hope I can make something as awesome as them one day 🥺💕🖤
Ooh and one other thing is Shoocharu's NSP Animations! Those seriously inspire me a LOT and I'm hoping to try animating a full music video soon too 🖤
(Also I'm just a massive simp for some cartoon characters okay-)

5] Taskmaster!
It's one of my favourite TV Shows of all time! I love how ridiculous it gets sometimes, if I'm feeling a bit down I'll just watch clips from it and it cheers me up a lot 😂🥺💕
Plus I usually end up simping for at LEAST one contestant per series (and Greg Davies ages like a fine wine so every new season I love him more 👀😂)

Thanks again for the ask! 🖤

FredFilms promises...
Creators first.
I've always believed that we owe you, our fans and now at FredFilms we all take it as gospel. We owe you our best work, of course. But beyond we examine everything about ourselves constantly, to assure ourselves and you that we’re trying to stay on the right track. To that end, whatever work I’ve done –whether it be in the music business, the network television business, and certainly, cartoons– has been done with making public promises that try and assure you that we’ll deliver.
To that end, I thought it would be good to print out a new set of our limited edition postcards to make the FredFilms promises completely clear. This one’s the first.
As throughout my entire cartoon career, and now at FredFilms, it’s been my  mission to let exceptional creators do their thing. We’re not in the business of micro-managing our creative talent. Instead, we seek out and nurture creators who have a story they need to tell and give them as much room as possible to tell it.. We go to festivals, art schools, comedy clubs, and explore the dustiest corners of the internet to find folks we know we have to work with.
We believe there are new stories to be told.
We promise.
.....
It might seem extreme, but I thought it might be interesting to list all of the creators that have worked on my productions, starting in 1995 with What A Cartoon! at Hanna-Barbera and Cartoon Network in 1995. If you look at any of the 140 individual links (!) you’ll see that almost all of them have had estimable careers in cartoons or animation adjacent (comics, video games, VFX and the like). Some have created hit series with me, some without (sigh!) and some have become quite famous. One way or the other, they’ve all been amazing.
