Being a “Nice Guy” is holding you back

Look at your life, everything you have, everything you own and everything you do. Is this what you want or where you expect to be? If Yes, Congratulations to you my man. If not, why? Ultimately you have full control of your life so why are you not “winning” at life?

I was asked this question the other week and in all honesty, I am miles away from where I feel I should be. I have a lot to accomplish and many of those missions are ones that I should have been able to do years ago. No one stopped me because I never tried. I was the nice guy. I thought of others, did what they want to do, went where they wanted to go and agreed with what they said even if it didn’t truly feel that way. Anything to keep the peace and be the nice guy. I am the REASON why I am not where I want to be in life, being a nice guy was a move I made thinking it was the right way to be. 

Now I am not saying don’t be nice but be honest and stick up for yourself. If you disagree, say so. I am 31 and still have people talk down to me and they expect me to agree or even be interested because I have always looked to be. Something I have better knowledge within or experience of seems to go astray if I don’t back my own corner. Its no one else’s job to stick up for me, that’s down to me and me alone. 

Now what I can say is now I see this I have changed my strategy without being a bulshy pr*ck people can tend to be. The biggest truth here is now I have seen this and I start acting how I feel I should people start leaving you and you cant look at this as a bad thing. If they do not want to hear the honest you and only want the agreeable you, they are not good for you. You need people to support you, big you up, motivate and support you which is what you should do in return. Be the best hype man you can be. If they cannot do that for you, you don’t need them. Your better off without. Its a 2 way street, that is fair. If someone whether that is a friend, partner, family member or just a simple person you know cannot offer you support or be willing to be there when you fall especially when your willing to do that for them, lose them. YOU choose your friendship group, you do not need people in your life so be choosy. If you offer a lot then expect the same back from them in return. Nice guys would not do that and then be abused for the fact the are a pushover. 

Reach for the stars boys, do not let anyone stop you doing from what you want to do. If they do not support you then do not worry. You do not need them. This is how you need to think. You and your responsibilities come first. What are you if your not happy? Your wasting your time that is what you are doing. 

Look at it in a different way, how many fella’s do you know that are absolute C*nts where all your mates agree with that fact yet the odd woman always says “He’s alright”. You all know what I mean and you all know one of these. Hated by men, liked by women who they will normally use further down the line. That is not a nice guy but that is not what I am saying you should try and be. Those fella’s are the bottom of the pile in my mind, dont try and change peoples mind. Your not here for that. People will always do what they want to do and that is exactly what you should do. Do not become a women eater and text 15 different women a night. Keep yourself on track and aim to be honest, successful and win every battle you have. Bored of your job, get a new one. Know your worth. Want to dress better, research what goes and buy a new wardrobe. New hairstyle? Go for it. Tattoo? Get as many as you want just remember you will age one day.  

I have sold all my clothes and bought a new wardrobe. Growing my hair (not much choice in lockdown) so will be rocking a new style. Tattoo’s arranged when we are allowed out again. Holiday due next year. Starting to do more and more at work, push for that promotion if there is a possibility of one. THIS IS NOT A CRISIS! This will seem like one but all this is, is just the first time you are doing something for YOU without having to consult anyone else. 

There are no excuses boys. Do you want to live miserable and live a mundane life where you are not happy? Or do you want to be successful, surround yourself with people that are good for you to be around and actually live the life you want? I much prefer the second option.

Work on you, I know you can’t polish a terd but you can give it a good go. This is my current ramble of day to day bits where I try and make an effort... for the first time in long time.
