I know there are ardent Mace Windu defenders on here so can you guys explain why Mace Windu Did That with the Boba Fett situation. That is a genuine question and my biggest hang-up, I’m desperate to understand his thought process. Like, it would be considered a radically conservative move HERE in OUR WORLD to decide that a deeply traumatized 13 year old raised by a criminal who was then guided by a gang of adult criminals into committing acts of terrorism should be thrown into a HIGH SECURITY ADULT PRISON for YEARS as a punishment. How does Mace the monk in the religious order of justice not step in even nominally and go “hey this doesn’t seem wise or just. In fact this is deeply immoral. Why don’t you put this kid in a high security rehabilitation clinic. Why don’t you get him some therapy.” In fact if I remember correctly (?) Windu actively endorsed this course of action. In-universe explanation?

(Not an invitation to argue that trying kids as adults is morally right if what they’ve done is Bad Enough so they can be punished like adults. Because a) you’re wrong and b) shut up. Go read about prison reform. That’s not what I’m asking.)

why didn’t anyone tell me this flamboyant figure skater, his anxious fanboy protege, and the mean russian kid were so endearing have you all been keeping this a secret this whole time??

Super niche, but I just saw someone comment on something saying that they can't comprehend the fact that figure skating qualifies as a sport and as a figure it kind of just ticked me off? Of course the skaters seen on TV are really good at it and they make it look easy but the amount of work that goes into training that isn't seen in competition isn't as pretty as what's shown on the screen. There's a lot of off ice training for cardio and strength in the form of fitness classes and there's also the on ice cardio training which is running program parts in addition to the full run through. AND THEN, so it looks good, there's ballet, and on ice movement, and theatre on ice etc. etc. etc. which makes you THINK it's more of an artform but I've gotten so many bruises from falling that I don't think I can call it art, more like pain. Honestly figure skating is a dangerous sport, there's so many risks that can lead to injuries, I've a couple of friends who have gotten concussed from bad falls and I call myself very fortunate for not having gotten any bad injuries that cause me to take time off (knock on wood) but all of the gross stuff that happens out of the shiny costumes is what gives figure skating the right to call itself a sport.

I love how Shoma is thought of as the baby of men's figure skating, just a little guy, ridiculously good at skating but still, he's just a little baby, so sweet and innocent, just the little brother looking up at the stars and then his list of medals looks like this

I was tagged to do this au/fic generator thing and took so long thinking about it that I never actually posted it BUT the idea I came up with is so cute I can’t not share it:

rules (more or less): use this au generator to assign you an au, and this fanfic trope generator to give you a trope/situation/sometimes another au, feel free to keep clicking until you get something that inspires you.

then try to come up with the title, plot, vibe, and details of a fic including whatever the generators gave you. you don’t actually have to write it, just put the concept into the world! this is basically just a thought experiment.

let’s plot:

Think Bring It On, Whip It, and sexy summertime romcom movie all wrapped into one

Ian’s the captain of the local queer derby league, The High Rollers

Mickey moves back to town with his sister after the death of their father

Mickey and Mandy used to be super into roller blading, Mandy hears about how popular roller derby is in town and decides to try out for the local team

Mickey thinks it’s lame as hell until he goes to a practice and sees how brutal and rough and FUN it is

Ian’s team is practicing on the other side and Mickey definitely doesn’t mind the view as he watches him skate around ramming into people

He feels a certain weirdness about trying out, maybe it makes him feel vulnerable? Something about putting himself out there?

Ian sees him skating at the park and it’s an incredibly adorable sorta meet cute where they’re both skating and trying to show off

Ian dares him to try out

Mickey rolls his eyes but he’s not one to back down from a dare

Etc etc etc somehow Ian ends up helping to patch Mickey up and blows on his knee like Adam does to Eve in Blast From the Past, you know the scene

Cue sexual tension on roller skates
