Josh Cavallo got engaged to his partner Leighton

Adelaide United footballer Josh Cavallo has surprised his partner Leighton Morrell with a marriage proposal on the soccer field.

Josh posted photos to Instagram of the beautiful moment on the empty pitch at Coopers Stadium in Josh’s hometown of Adelaide.

The out soccer player wrote that he was “starting this year with my fiancee” and declared “Mr & Mr Coming soon”.

Josh also thanked his club Adelaide United for helping him “set up this surprise”.

He said his club’s “endless support has meant so much to me” since he came out as gay in 2021, in what was a huge moment for his sport.

“You have provided a safe space in football, one that I never in my dreams thought could ever be possible, and encouraged me to live everyday of my life authentically,” he said.

“It felt right to share this special moment on the pitch, where it all started.”

We don’t know exactly how long the couple have been together. Josh made his relationship Insta-official in November, posting cuddly birthday pics with Leighton after he turned 24.

Leighton is a tradie and is a member of the Western Australian gay rugby club the Perth Rams.

Josh Cavallo came out as gay in 2021

In 2021, Josh Cavallo came out as gay, and at the time was the only out pro top-flight footballer.

He wrote on social media that he was “ready to speak about something personal that I’m finally comfortable to talk about.”

“I’m a footballer and I’m gay,” he said in a video message at the time.

Josh later said the flood of messages of support he received continued for months after his big announcement.

The midfielder is signed to Adelaide United until 2025.

Walhonding Canal Lock No. 9

The Walhonding Canal Lock No. 9 is located on State Route 715, in Jefferson Township, Coshocton County, west of Warsaw, Ohio.  The Walhonding Canal was a canal in Coshocton County that was used as a feeder canal for the Ohio and Erie Canal. A small canal, only 25 miles long, it was wholly contained within Coshocton County, following the Mohican River from Cavallo south to the confluence with the Kokosing River, which together with the Mohican forms the Walhonding River. The canal followed the Walhonding River southeast toward Coshocton where it met the Ohio and Erie Canal in Roscoe Village.   

     Building of the Walhonding Canal commenced in 1836 and finished in 1842. William H. Price, Charles J. Ward, John Waddle, Jacob Blickensderfer, Henry Fields and Sylvester Medbery were among the members of the engineering corps responsible for the Walhonding Canal. Several of these men also served as contractors on the Ohio and Erie Canal. In addition to these were John Frew, S. Moffit, Isaac Means, John Crowley, W. K. Johnson, and others. It cost $607,268.99, or an average of $24,290.76 per mile.  The first canal boat launched in the county was called the "Renfrew" in honor of James Renfrew, a merchant of Coshocton. It was built by Thomas Butler Lewis, an old Ohio keel-boatman.

     Traffic began to slow as other modes of transportation began to improve and need for the canal dwindled. In 1889, the Pennsylvania Company organized the Walhonding Valley Railroad that would follow the route of the canal from Coshocton to Loudonville. The Walhonding Valley Railroad was soon consolidated with the Northwestern Ohio Railroad, which formed the Toledo, Walhonding Valley and Ohio Railroad. The railroad was completed four years after the organization of the Walhonding Valley Railroad and it used some canal property on its right-of-way as it built the railroad, an action which led to a legal dispute.

     The state officially abandoned the Walhonding Canal in 1896 and the railroad that took its place continued to operate until 1936 when the Mohawk Dam was built for flood control, effectively cutting off the right-of-way.  The Walhonding Canal Lock No. 9 was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 24, 1986.

'Keep fighting': Soccer star Josh Cavallo hospitalised

Josh Cavallo’s followers have rallied to support him after the out Adelaide soccer star shared some devastating news.

Josh, who plays for his A-League club Adelaide United, shared that he was in hospital over an injury and was facing surgery.

“A year ago I had a serious injury, Achilles tendon rupture, I was a year without being able to play,” he explained in the Instagram post.

“There were many days of pain and suffering, but a lot of learning.”

During a match in February last year, Josh Cavallo tore his Achilles tendon. In January, the soccer star finally returned to the field after 323 days stuck on the sidelines.

But sadly, Josh has confirmed he’s not out of the woods, alluding to more surgery and rehab.

“Unfortunately, now I have to live with a similar situation, which I will face with the same mentality,” he wrote.

“I want to thank all those people who support me through surgery.

“Football is my life and no matter how many obstacles they are, I will always have the enthusiasm to keep fighting for my dreams.”

The soccer star was flooded with messages of support from followers after sharing the social media posts.

The boys made the relationship Instagram-official in November.

Last month, Josh surprised Leighton with a marriage proposal on the field at Hindmarsh Stadium in his hometown of Adelaide, with the help of his club.

Sarà il Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, al confine con la Svizzera, a fare da cornice alle esibizioni live dell'edizione 2023 di Musica in Quota, che dal 28 maggio al 24 settembre vedrà undici concerti gratuiti ambientati in scenari tra le Alpi Piemontesi e i laghi Maggiore, di Mergozzo e d'Orta, ad altitudini comprese tra i 600 e i 2.300 metri. Molte nuove sedi ospiteranno le esibizioni di quartetti, singoli artisti o piccole orchestre, che andranno a comporre un programma di assoluto valore. Musica in Quota prenderà avvio domenica 28 maggio nell'incantevole cornice del Lago delle Fate, in Valle Anzasca, ai piedi del Monte Rosa, dove il concerto del gruppo Talamh si svolgerà in concomitanza con l’evento In Joëlette con le Fate, organizzato dalla Scuola di Escursionismo Est Monte Rosa di Macugnaga. Il viaggio successivo condurrà gli spettatori, domenica 18 giugno, a Pian d'Arla, nel Parco Nazionale della Val Grande,  per il consueto concerto al tramonto realizzato in collaborazione con l'Associazione Cori Piemontesi ed eseguito quest'anno da ArSunàCanta. Domenica 9 luglio Musica in Quota sarà nel piccolo alpeggio di Bertogna, affacciato sul Lago d'Orta, per il concerto dei Village H, che tornano a suonare su un palco open air del Festival dopo alcuni anni dal loro debutto in quota. Per domenica 16 luglio si torna tra le cime più alte, nell'anfiteatro naturale dell'Alpe Deccia della Valle Antigorio, per le musiche dal mondo dei Twinpeas. I musicisti della Banfi Bazzari Casucci Band si esibiranno invece all'Alpe Solcio, in Valle Divedro, palcoscenico più volte sede di Musica in Quota, domenica 23 luglio, mentre la piccola orchestra Musiche selvagge porterà il pubblico a raggiungere una delle sedi più ad alta quota del 2023, il Passo San Giacomo, in alta Val Formazza, sabato 5 agosto. Protagonista del concerto della vigilia di Ferragosto sarà, con lo stile dei suoi musicisti, la Banda Osiris per  lunedì 14 agosto all'Alpe Blitz, in Valle Vigezzo. Domenica 20 agosto il percorso del Festival si spingerà nuovamente nel Cusio: affacciati dallo spettacolare Belvedere di Quarna Sopra, dove gli spettatori potranno assistere al secondo raduno internazionale di Alphorns, noti come i Corni delle Alpi, con special guest Lisa Stoll. A cavallo tra estate e autunno domenica 17 settembre si andrà a Cheggio, in Valle Antrona, per il progetto musicale On the bare rocks and the glaciers, realizzato con Novara Jazz, e per il  gran finale  domenica 24 settembre a San Salvatore di Premeno, affacciato sul Lago Maggiore, con il Sonia Schiavone Quartet. Musica in Quota si conferma come una delle più amate rassegne musicali estive dell'arco alpino e la sua componente escursionistica contribuisce da sempre ad accrescerne il fascino, ripagato dalla bellezza dei teatri naturali, quanto dalle proposte artistiche sempre innovative e coinvolgenti. Tutti i percorsi dovranno essere affrontati in autonomia, mentre le guide saranno presenti alla partenza per assistere e informare gli escursionisti e alla meta per illustrare le peculiarità delle sedi del Festival, inoltre i canali di comunicazione di Musica in Quota presenteranno le informazioni tecniche utili per intraprendere al meglio i sentieri che portano in quota. Gli Oscar 2023 sono stati assegnati e, come ogni anno, i vincitori e le sorprese della serata non sono mancati. Tra i grandi vincitori della serata ci sono i film “Everything Everywhere All at Once” e “Niente di nuovo sul fronte occidentale“.

Sono stati entrambi premiati in numerose categorie: rispettivamente 7 su 11 e 4 su 9. Il film dei The Daniels, “Everything Everywhere All at Once“, è risultato vincitore nei seguenti ambiti: film, regia, sceneggiatura, montaggio, attrice protagonista, attore e attrice non protagonista. Il film tedesco di Edward Berger, “Niente di nuovo sul fronte occidentale“, tratto dal romanzo di Erich Maria Remarque, ha vinto i premi Oscar 2023 per il miglior film internazionale, fotografia, colonna sonora e scenografia.

Vincitori degli Oscar 2023: miglior attore

La serata ha visto anche una sorpresa per il pubblico: Brendan Fraser vincitore dell’Oscar 2023 come miglior attore per il film “The Whale“, che ha anche vinto il premio per il trucco. La vittoria di Fraser ha suscitato grande emozione, soprattutto perché l’attore ha fatto un ritorno straordinario sulla scena di Hollywood dopo essere stato messo da parte dall’industria del cinema.

Gli altri vincitori degli Oscar 2023

Altri film che hanno ottenuto riconoscimenti sono stati “The Whale”, vincitore di due premi agli Oscar 2023 (miglior attore e trucco), “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever“, “Avatar: Le vie dell’acqua” e “Top Gun: Maverick“, tutti con un premio ciascuno.

La premiazione dei vincitori è stata anche contraddistinta da alcune sorprese, come l’inaspettata esibizione di Lady Gaga agli Oscar 2023. La popstar si è messa in mostra con una versione unplugged di “Hold My Hand” da “Top Gun: Maverick“.

Da notare anche la battuta di Hugh Grant sull’età della collega Andy McDowell: “Siamo qui per fare due cose. La prima è sensibilizzare sull’importanza vitale di usare una buona crema idratante. Andie ne usa una ogni giorno, da 29 anni. Io non l’ho mai usata in vita mia. Quindi lei è stupenda e io sembro praticamente uno scroto“.

Miglior trucco e acconciatura: The Whale , ossia i makeup artist Adrien Morot, Judy Chin e Anne Marie Bradley.

Miglior fotografia: James Friend, per il film Niente di nuovo sul fronte occidentale.

Miglior cortometraggio: An Irish Goodbye, regia di Tom Berkely e Ross White.

Miglior documentario: Navalny, regia di Daniel Roher, Odessa Rae, Diane Becker, Melanie Miller e Shane Boris.

Miglior attrice non protagonista: Jamie Lee Curtis, per il film Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Miglior attore non protagonista: Ke Huy Quan, per il film Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Miglior film d’animazione: Pinocchio di Guillermo del Toro, regia di Guillermo del Toro e Mark Gustafson.

La cerimonia è stata una vetrina per le case di produzione indipendenti. A24 e Netflix, hanno fatto un balzo in avanti rispetto alle grandi major del cinema.

La serata si è conclusa con la carrellata dei defunti “In Memoriam”. Tra questi spiccava il nome di Olivia Newton John (la compagna di John Travolta nel film “Grease”), che ha commosso l’attore.

#8 Argentina pasca Junta Militer

Dua Presiden memimpin Argentina dalam prosesnya memulihkan demokrasi di negara itu; Raúl Alfonsín dan Carlos Menem. 

Alfonsín menjadi Presiden terpilih pertama Argentina sejak kematian Juan Perón yang memerintah tanpa pengaruh pihak militer. Ketika Alfonsín memulai masa kepemimpinannya, Argentina sedang menghadapi salah satu krisis terbesar dalam sejarahnya; investasi menurun drastis, pengangguran meningkat, dan inflasi meningkat tajam sebesar 433.7%. Selain itu, Alfonsín harus menghadapi peninggalan rezim militer sebelumnya, termasuk tindakan brutal yang sudah mereka lakukan terhadap segala bentuk oposisi publik dari rakyat, dan instabilitas politik yang diakibatkan kekalahan Argentina pada Perang Falklands yang telah merusak citra Argentina di dunia internasional, terutama dengan Inggris yang memiliki hubungan ekonomi dekat dengan Argentina sepanjang sejarahnya. Untuk mengatasi masalah ekonomi Argentina, Alfonsín menerapkan rencana yang disebut Austral Plan. Carlos Menem memberlakukan serangkaian reformasi berhaluan neoliberal, dipimpin oleh ahli ekonomi, Domingo Cavallo. Cavallo meyakinkan Kongres Argentina untuk mengacukan Peso kepada Dolar Amerika Serikat pad ajumlah yang tetap menggunakan devisa Dolar yang diakumulasi pemerintah. Ini berhasil mengatasi permasalahan hiperinflasi di negara itu. Menem juga berfokus pada privatisasi aset negara untuk menarik perhatian investor asing. Dengan terkendalinya inflasi, dan masuknya modal asing, ekonomi Argentina akhirnya bertumbuh dengan sangat pesat antara tahun 1991 – 1994. Pertumbuhan ini mendorong pemerintahan Menem mengejar reformasi neoliberal dengan lebih ambisius – mereformasi dana pensiun kepada sektor privat, privatisasi perusahaan kereta api, gas, dan industri milik pemerintah, serta menyetujui terbentuknya area perdagangan bebas Mercosur pada tahun 1995.
