UNDER THE RADAR: JULY 2023
July’s Under The Radar is our kind of Vancouver Special. Check out these summer releases from SaBand, Haley K Turner, Fake Shark, Not Sisters, Hillsboro, and Jonah Ocean!
1) SaBand - “We Don’t Like The Sun”
"We Don’t Like The Sun” is apprehensive and callous as it explores the “frustration and rage” of a strained relationship between father and son. I liken it to a dramatic garage rock song that has the smashing guitar solo and danceability, but a layered emotional core. It delves into the presence of an absentee parent while referencing ideals and ancient rituals (Mr. Righteous and “dance with Dionysus”); their enigmatic approach bears a rousing factor all on its own. The ultimate disappointment is heavy, but not surprising (“You failed to read my gaze / your smile remains”). SaBand does an excellent job in the sound department, working with producer Felix Fung to form a frenetic yet matured energy. The back half of the track really shines as the sorrows intensify. We care more than we like to admit when it comes to family.
The band’s new album What You Paid For is out now.

2) Haley K Turner - “Can’t Find Her”
Haley K Turner’s latest single, “Can’t Find Her,” takes aim at disposable dating culture – a harsh reality for many. The alt-folk tune was recorded with Juno-nominated producer Tom Dobrzanski (The Zolas, Said the Whale), and is an amalgam of piano, guitars, and orchestral strings with uplifting intensity. Turner addresses those who abandon a relationship for the excitement of someone new, asking what happens when the cycle doesn’t repeat. Her voice has a timeless quality to it, weaving in and out of empowerment and heartache.
Turner grew up in Kelowna and as I currently reside in the city, I can’t help but assume her imagery alludes to the unfortunate but oft Okanagan wildfires. It adds a personal touch to music that is textured, relatable and gentle; the essence of being human.

3) Fake Shark - “Bummer Summer”
“Bummer Summer” is a bit of a self-inflicted pity party; the repercussions of burning every bridge at the solitary forefront.
It is concise but eye-catching. Eerie falsetto, a deepening hook and even rawer lyricism harbour a sense of longing throughout. While some of the band’s recent releases showcase more jangled, electronic-inspired sounds, their knack for shout-along punk and tight musicianship remain unmatched. “I used to be so much stronger / now I hang onto pain like it’s worth something,” frontman Kevin “Kevvy Mental” Maher sings with nonchalance. Billed as an anti-song of the summer, “Bummer Summer” drips with intrigue and sarcasm—a tragedy of one’s own doing.

4) Not Sisters - “Shades of Blue”
Online dating can be a tumultuous time as alluded to in “Shades of Blue.” The bedroom pop duo, comprised of vocalist Amanda Doucette and producer/multi-instrumentalist Tom Maguire, revels in the anticipation of a new flame and the brooding repetition of nights alone. It has a bubblegum sound but does offer lyrical depth beyond the lighthearted exterior (“I was trying to beat fate / cause this sh*t’s never calibrated in my favour”). Recalling a “rough four to five months” in Doucette’s past, the song muses over the prospects of love found and lost, unfortunate timing, and what it could mean for the future. Her vocals are playful, at times layered as inner thoughts are expressed. Their music is modern and fun while amplifying how our feelings can permeate into all aspects of our life—especially where hearts are involved.
Their self-produced debut EP Feelings Make Us Human is out now.

5) Hillsboro - “Exit Plan”
I love a good west coast introduction—having not been familiar with Victoria’s Hillsboro prior to their pitch email, I am now well sold on their grungy, indie pop rock marriage. Lead vocalist and guitarist Nima Walker’s own tortured past is at the core of their upcoming debut record, reflective of his “newfound intoxication with self-ruin” at the start of the pandemic. “Exit Plan” is the pain; actions and thoughts driven by destructive tendencies and delirium. It lacks pleasure and redemption while unraveling with alarming ease (“No sleep with all the noise and speed / Just find me when you want to leave”). Their sound is distorted vibrancy, reaching for resolve amidst agitation at every corner.
A forewarning of the shame and anguish associated with self-loathing and longing, with the essence of 90′s alternative, “Exit Plan” is devoted to their burden. I feel saddened by the lived gloom, but hopeful knowing Walker’s recognition of his limitations burned a gritty path forward. The band’s album will be released on September 15.

6) Jonah Ocean - “Heaven”
Gorgeous choral harmonies open Jonah Ocean’s “Heaven” – as much a feeling as it is a place. Floating synths and grooving guitars form the melody; a drum knocks like a heartbeat. Akin to a breezy summer night, “Heaven” portrays the euphoria felt from music and from sharing that experience with others (“Hold me just like I was in the womb / Like god was in the room”). Jonah has a diploma in jazz/contemporary guitar, also integrating pop, rnb, and a killer croon. Lush and imaginative; desire without worry. You can’t get much closer to a moment than this.

One Tree Hill Thread - Part 2
Nathan driving, looking for Haley. Old Naley scenes (They showering together, they recoding the voice mail). My heart breaking again and again. GIVE ME NALEY BACK!
so season 2’s ending & everyone is unhappy! Keith leaving Karen is sad cause she ruined K’s wedding, Deb is taking pills, Dan is the same bastard as always, Jake & Payton are stressed cause Nikki’s back, Brook was about to leave (but not) & I can’t even start w Naley.
right now I would love to dedicate my life to watch one tree hill cause 1) I love it 2) I can’t stop thinking about it 3) Naley and last but not least 4) I CANNOT WAIT CAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH THAT WILL HAPPEN THROUGH THE FOLLOWING SEASONS I’M ALREADY DEAD.
These two saved my 2018.
Don’t you guys think that Amanda Leighton could be the 2018 Bethany Joy Lenz? They are look alike and idk they give me the same vibe cause Emma (or am I mixing everything?) and Haley were both tutor girls, right?
Brooke in bed with Chris Keller was discussing.
I had to stop watching one tree hill bc I was getting too exited about Naley and was constantly thinking about them and well, I took a break but I miss them so much now.
Skills is me every time I watch a show. (link to the post)
My mind traveled to Hellcats for a second with these siblings.
i’m guessing (based on some -not really sure about- spoilers) that this Peyton and Derek sibling bound is fake and it’s gonna end up like shit ohhhhhhhh maaaaaaa gasshhhhh
update: accurate
Episodes 9 and 10 from the fourth season are: annoying, boring, sad, cheesy, confusing and many more random and not clear things, I was suffering through the whole tenth because I cannot bare with that type of episodes, I find the so unwatchable.
So, to everyone who criticised them I’ll leave this quotes.
The first one is from one tree hill and it says:
you can drive at 16, go to war at 19, drink at 21, and you can retire at 65, then, how old do you have to be before your love is real?
The second: Miley’s words.
2020 update: i won't ever quote real life situations again but I stand by the whole follow your heart idea.
that was WAY TOO CHEESY.
Skills stepping up for Haley to stop Reachel from touching her is the friendship content i’m here for.
okey but Reachel is a great friend for Brooke so how am i supposed to choose?
I never get what “clean teens” stand for, none of them remained “clean” lmao (which was the right thing to do because all of wanted to “break the rules” and they should do so)
I don’t wanna buy “good Dan” but the actor made it seem like Dan was being actually nice, i can’t trust Dan buy he’s making so hard.
some times it looks like i don't read my tweets before i click on "tweet" but the worst thing is that i do but somehow most of them are written wrongly.
today i saw the next episodes which are really different and made me feel a lot:
-04x12: boring
-04x13: great, loved all the messages and frases, a must watch
-04x14: THE END SNAPPED
chase seems to be looking for reasons to break up with Brooke more than looking for reasons to be with her, go away judgy little dick.
everyone looks SO BEAUTIFUL in the second part of season four, Hayley and Nathan specially, if you ask me, they look a little older but so shiny and cute.
is there some sort of second part of the season glow up? lol
OMG OMG OMG I WAS NOT READY FOR 04x15 END BECAUSE IT’S A DOUBLE SNAP AND I’M NOT OK NOW.
bitch Chris Keller is back omg I screamed.
they can’t make me watch Nathan being rejected by schools. they’re all losers for even live. Nathan is the best thing that could ever happen to them and if they miss him, it’s on them.
(note: I'm such a Nathan supremacist lol)
i can’t believe they’re finishing senior year and i’ve like 5 seasons left to watch them grow in another step of their life, give birth, fight and mess up, i’m emotional and exited.
Turner is a dickhead. just facts.
Lucas lost it wow.

Sundance 2022: Day 4
Number of Films: 4
Best Film of the Day: After Yang
892: A non-heist movie. Abi Damaris Corbin’s fact-based film has some of the trappings of the bank-robbery thriller, only, its protagonist, former Marine Brian Brown-Easley (John Boyega) isn’t interested in the bank’s money at all. Instead, when he walks into an Atlanta-area branch of Wells Fargo one morning, claiming he has a bomb, what he’s after is a platform to air his grievances with the VA, the byzantine agency that withheld his benefit check based on a clerical error. At the beginning of the film, we meet Brown-Easley, a decorated veteran with severe PTSD since being honorably discharged, living near the poverty line, and on his way to becoming homeless. Separated from his wife, Cassandra (Olivia Washington), and the couples’ young daughter, Kiah (London Covington), he has little recourse when his disability check is lost in a sea of bureaucracy. Pushed well past the breaking point, he calmly enters the bank, and respectfully informs the pair of bank managers, Estel (Nicole Beharie) and Rosa (Selenis Leyva), he is carrying a bomb in his bag. He encourages them to call “everyone,” including the police, the fire department, and the media, giving him as much opportunity to express himself as possible. From the start, it’s clear he’s a different sort of cat. Unerringly polite (everyone is “sir,” or “ma’am”), and conscientious (at one point, he fields a call from a customer, and writes down their information to give to an appropriate bank employee), he’s also completely aware this action will result in his death at the hands of police, a point he makes more than once to the lead police negotiator (the late Michael K. Williams, in his last role), working hard to diffuse the situation. The film’s air of menace is well-crafted by Corbin and her team, dragging out the tension as Brown-Easley makes his case, both to the police, and to the media, via a phone call to a local news producer (Connie Britton). The end result, while expected, still comes shockingly, leaving a bevy of unanswered questions Corbin rightly has no interest in answering.
After Yang: I hadn’t planned to see Kogonada’s emotional drama set in the near future about an expired robot, but after its premiere, the intense buzz about it became too much to ignore, and I’m very glad I added it to my schedule. Emotional, yet restrained, it’s the kind of film whose very ineffability adds to its considerable power. Set in the near future, where lifelike robot companions are common, we meet Yang (Justin H. Min) very near the end of his use cycle, to the unhappiness of his current family, including Jake (Colin Farrell), owner of a high-end loose tea shop, his wife, Kyra (Jodie Turner-Smith), a marketing executive, and their young adopted daughter, Mika (Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja), whose Chinese heritage the couple hoped to connect her with through Yang, programmed with Chinese history, in the first place. In an attempt to restore Mika’s beloved companion, Jake takes him to various tech outlets, eventually learning his core has been corrupted beyond repair, but leaving his key memory module intact, enabling Jake and Kyra to view his recorded memories, both of his time with them, and with his former “employers,” including several other families. Joined by Yang’s at-first mysterious friend, Ada (Haley Lu Richardson), the family slowly unwinds the robot’s past life experiences, allowing them, at last, to have a better understanding of their former companion. Kogonada’s style, meticulous and measured, plays wonders with the material, based on the short story by Alexander Weinstein, moving in subtly effective beats instead of rising dramatic tension. Philosophically complex, dense with strikingly beautiful imagery, the film hints at much of the inexorable tragedy of the human condition, constantly losing things, while desperately trying to hold onto what we can via our very fallible memories. The film never asks you to cry, but you likely will, and probably more than once.
Nothing Compares: It’s nowhere near often enough, sadly, but sometimes a much maligned figure, whose views are considered apostatic at the time, lives long enough to see the world finally come around to them. Such is the case for Sinéad O’Connor, the former mega-watt musician and singer, whose direct challenging of both the patriarchal music industry, and Catholic Church made her a pariah, and the subject of countless hit pieces by the media in a futile attempt to shut her up. In the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, after the worldwide success of her first two albums (in particular, the Prince-helmed single “Nothing Compares 2 U,” which became a global number one song), O'Connor, a small-but-hardy woman of uncommon strength and will, used her new found fame as a bully pulpit, calling out systemic racism, condemning hawkish politicians, and, most famously, tearing up a photo of the pope on live TV during a performance on “SNL.” At the time, these acts mostly cost her career (though she still recorded and performed with regularity), but with the benefit of time — and the worldwide scandal that enveloped the Church in the years since her outburst — her decisions, and her fearless outspokenness against hallowed institutions have granted her much in the way of retroactive appreciation. Fellow Belfastian Kathryn Ferguson’s hagiographic film, which she admits, is representative of how she has always viewed the controversial singer, focuses primarily on those years between 1987-1993, when the diminutive singer went from unknown waif to global superstar, and back down again, utilizing a combination of archived footage under VO’s by O’Connor and various friends and associates. With the recent suicide death of her first son, Jake, O’Connor’s life has taken another tragic turn, but nothing takes away from her body of work, and the courage with which she has lived her life.
Alice: In a sort of inverted version of the 2020 film Antebellum, Krystin Ver Linden’s film, based on a true story, follows the life of its heroine, Alice (Keke Palmer), who lives at the plantation of your ubiquitous horrible white slave owner, Paul Bennett (Jonny Lee Miller), suffering along with the other slaves under his brutal hand. When she finally resolves to run away, shortly after seeing her husband, Joseph (Gaius Charles), shot down in cold blood, she runs wildly through the woods only to end up standing next to a superhighway in Georgia. Despite everything she was led to believe by Paul Bennett and his equally horrible wife, Rachel (Alicia Witt), the time period isn’t pre-Civil War, but 1973. Quickly befriending Frank (Common), a kindly truck driver, Alice takes to her new reality rapidly, reading everything she can get her hands on, and learning to appreciate the talents of Pam Grier socking it to Whitey in Koffy. Almost immediately, she plans a raid on the Bennets’ illegal “plantation,” to free the others, and enlists Frank’s aid to help her. You can certainly see what director Ver Linden is going for here, starting with a plantation depiction and morphing it into a “blaxploitation”-era type revenge thriller, but the film suffers from tonal dissonance, and clunky, expository scenes that move Alice too quickly from confused, terrified cultural alien, to assertive, wise-cracking, gun-toting badass, such that everything feels too forced and contrived to hit its marks. Tarantino does a similar sort of trick in Django Unchained, but for all his foibles, he is a brilliant subverter of existing genres, a skill, at this point, the callow Ver Linden does not have on offer. There are good things at play here, not the least of which Palmer’s high-wire performance, but too many wrong notes eventually ruins the symphony.
The Sundance Film Festival has returned, albeit in virtual-only format. We might not be skating on the ice and snow of Park City, but we’re still going to take in a whole bunch of independent films, some of which might be the best things we get to see this year. Let’s see how it goes.

UNDER THE RADAR: FEBRUARY 2021
February’s Under the Radar is as much about loss as it is love, courtesy of songs from ICELANDIA, glimmers, Haley K Turner, Laterdays, Lucky Monkey, and Alicia Clara.
1) glimmers (feat. lostbody) - “Not Good At Goodbyes”
I feel as if pop rock is making a comeback, and glimmers could be one of the acts to revitalize the Vans Warped Tour era. The Atlanta band (fronted by Maggie Schneider) channels their best in the radio-friendly anthem – a confession of love and letting go, from the perspective of a hopeless romantic. Taking listeners back to the punch and sentiment of We Are The In Crowd and Hey Monday, it’s a track that wanders through the clutter; on the verge of another separation, but with full, grueling disclose.
Why the universe gives us love, to pull it away once it runs its course, is a question left unanswered. “Not Good At Goodbyes” airs out the bittersweet, a valiant pushback to what often goes unsaid. Worlds Apart is out April 23rd on Common Ground Collective.
Written by: Chloe Hoy
2) Laterdays - “Losing Touch”
Former pop punk pals turned surf rock beach boys, Laterdays is feeling low and lost in disconnect. Nik Pang and James Songalia form the bright new band – their latest holds tight to a deteriorating relationship, matter of a fact speech about an anomaly that puts them on a brink. It has an earnest, unhurried vibe that keeps the ear interested, and breezy guitar lines for a mid-afternoon sway. I love that it doesn’t write-off the problem, and without addressing it in specifics, it centers on the narrator’s feelings coupled with boundaries, and verbal interaction. It’s as much about communication, as it is about love.
Sometimes it’s the tracks that focus on distance, that feel the most close to heart.
Written by: Chloe Hoy
3) ICELANDIA - “Video Game”
On “Video Game,” Kelowna synth pop trio ICELANDIA ruminate on remorse—a bruised history that repeats itself despite one’s best attempts at reinvention.
Anthony Martens’ vocals are part dream and part metaphor, washed into crystalline synth and warm, slow morning strings. The song hits a pretty damning revelation in the bridge before pacing beautifully into cello, courtesy of Dutch multi-instrumentalist Ardie Son. “Video Game” is bright and bittersweet; the rustling of leaves, and old photo albums, before giving oneself to grief.
Written by: Natalie Hoy
4) Haley K Turner - “Alice”
“The Kool-Aid they, they’ve been selling / Can’t you see the imagery / and what is lurking underneath.”
I just love that this was inspired by Alice in Wonderland; it has the whimsy sound of mystery and wonder, social convention playing its part through storytelling. It borders between naïve innocence and action, the social awareness that we either seek or stay quiet to. The critique is striking – being ostracized and facing pressure from others can force rash decisions, ones with outcomes we too feared. It’s a justice that can only come in numbers, voices that speak and ask together. In sound, it has a brisk contemporary pop/indie folk aura, down the dark rabbit hole we go.
“Alice” is emboldened; don’t fall into a trap without the knowledge you need, our rights are ours to keep.
Written by: Chloe Hoy
5) Lucky Monkey - “Mirror Man”
The new single from Kelowna-based rock outfit Lucky Monkey is a 90s-style throwback that features the band's special blend of funky, rhythm-driven rock. "Mirror Man” is reminiscent of grunge-era groups like Extreme, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains – especially in regard to vocal styling. The verses have a solid groove and the chorus is catchy with its soaring vocal hook. A display of the band's musicianship and talent, this track will definitely satisfy the 30-something dad rock crowd looking for something new to add to their rock playlists.

6) Alicia Clara - “Stones Like Eyes”
There is a hypnotic quality to “Stones Like Eyes” that feels out of the 80′s; talk of the ‘good old days’ and somewhat stoic to the revelation that happy endings—they’re not assured. Ethereal and sophisticated, Clara’s (Montreal) warm sonic sound is the personification of a kindred spirit. It carries the broken shards of our innocence, hopes and fears, a small part to play in a larger universe that we will never fully understand.
“Stones Like Eyes” is evocative, sun-kissed dance pop, save for a bit of pessimism to keep it real. Outsider/Unusual is out now on Hot Tramp Records.

1971: The Year That Music Changed Everything’s Sound Chief Talks Revolution
https://ift.tt/3yw2CuP
The revolution is being televised. Fifty years later. Apple TV+’s 1971: The Year That Music Changed Everything highlights how musicians were in touch with what was happening around them even as they were making things happen. Marvin Gaye lays down “What’s Going On” in the first episode, and the remainder of the eight-part docuseries builds the basic tracks which became the soundtrack to a changing world.
Solo ex-Beatles took to the streets and concert halls while The Rolling Stones, as a group, went deep into exile. Aretha Franklin went to the courthouse to post bail for former University of California philosophy professor Angela Davis, charged with “aggravated kidnapping and first-degree murder in the death of Judge Harold Haley.” Bill Withers quit his day job but held tight to his lunch box. David Bowie twisted a knife into the hippy movement, and Alice Cooper went to hell to celebrate.
The sonic examination was inspired by the book Never a Dull Moment: 1971 the Year That Rock Exploded by David Hepworth. The documentary includes clips and licks from the likes of Elton John, Graham Nash, Ike and Tina Turner and Bill Withers. Almost every genre of popular and underground music is included. We get reggae from Bob Marley, classic rock from The Who, acoustic strums from Joni Mitchell, street cred from Lou Reed, and a little “Evil” from Stevie Wonder. There are sections on David Bowie, Carole King, James Brown, and for some inexplicable reason, the Osmond Brothers, who say they always wanted to be Sly and the Family Stone. Some of the interviews are new, most of the footage is archival nuggets, and all of the music is authentic.
This was assured by Iain Cooke, the music supervisor who conducted the business of the accompaniment. Cooke previously worked with co-director Asif Kapadia on the Oscar and BAFTA winning Amy Winehouse feature documentary AMY, Oasis: Supersonic about the Gallagher brothers, and such TV series as The Fades, The Night Manager, and Gangs of London. Cooke spoke with Den of Geek about the mayhem and the music of half a century ago, and why we’re still listening.
Den of Geek: I know the documentary was based on the book Never a Dull Moment, so were you given a list of artists to choose or did you suggest artists?
Iain Cooke: I was first made aware of the project six years ago when we were over in Cannes for the Amy premiere, with the same team, with James Garrison and Asif. James told me about a manuscript that he was hoping to option called Never a Dull Moment. He shared it with me. I think it was literally in July of 2015, and I read this amazing story. And then as it developed, we had some broad conversations and then the edit team went into the edit for a good two years.
The book was a reference for us. We weren’t trying to make the series of the book. A lot of the initial work, early on by the producers and the directors and the editors, was really to find what the story was. They toyed with different story strands or chronology. The 1971 Never a Dull Moment was almost a broad headline. It was up to the team to go in and find what the stories were and what the story arcs and story strands were.
What was your role in choosing the music?
A lot of it will be the performance and the story that it takes, the choice of song. The edit team as a whole deserves a huge amount of credit for the selections. A lot of my work was focused on the rights and negotiation and really trying to make sure that we were able to tell the story that we wanted to do, but also to secure the rights to some of these huge, huge catalogs.

You did a pretty deep dig into the music. I hadn’t heard The Last Poets, so thanks for that. Did you make any personal song discoveries while doing the work?
That’s a really good question. I think it’s such a pivotal year. Obviously, we’re knowing that the 50th anniversary of a lot of those albums when they were either recorded, or being released. I have to say that I was given a copy of There’s a Riot Going On when I was about 16, 17, off an older friend who was very, very into music, and that’s remained one of my favorite albums ever since. It’s an absolute masterpiece. And in my personal record collection there’s many, many of these albums, but I’m glad you picked up on The Last Poets. I think Gil Scott-Heron, and The Last Poets themselves, were possibly one of the real heroes of the piece. I think most people will know about Marvin Gaye and The Stones and those artists, but I really hope that a whole new audience will discover the Gil Scott-Heron music, that songs, like “No Knock,” it’s mind blowing when you hear some of those songs they wrote. Absolute protest music, and they sold, I believe they did sell like a million copies.
It got to a wide audience. And that I’m really glad that a lot of people got to hear that message at the time, because they were really, you know, that The Prisoner as well, the episode around the Attica prison riot is one of my favorites without a doubt. And I think to have that interwoven with Gil Scott-Heron’s music is a real triumph. Yeah.
Were you surprised at what artists were getting away with that was available to the public, on records or right there on the radio?
Yeah. But then even within the series there is a bit about radio stations being under pressure not to play certain records and hold that back. I think there’s also a lot of the musicians talking about hearing clicks on the phone and that paranoia about people listening in, the FBI. And that was later revealed that they did have an agenda against some of these protagonists and realized how much influence they have, how much people listen to what they have to say.
Do you think there were more connections between the social and the music in 1971 then today? When you factor in things like the K-pop stans and technology?
I think it was an incredibly political time without a doubt. You’ve got the backdrop of the Vietnam war and Nixon’s economic policies and a real disenfranchised youth. I do feel that there was a particular moment in time around this time where people were prepared to be particularly political, like: Marvin Gaye releasing “What’s Going On” as a protest to his brother being drafted to the Vietnam war, John Lennon singing “I Don’t Wanna Be A Soldier, Mama, I Don’t Want to Die,” Bob Dylan writing a song about George Jackson, Neil Young writing a song about the Kent State massacre. I feel like rock stars really were influential, the most influential people of that era. And they were prepared to use their voice. I think someone says in the documentary that it’s not the society that influences the music. It’s the other way around. It’s the music and the musicians that can influence society. I think that’s true.
Were there any artists who you think were left out? You’re a musician, do you think prog was skipped? Aqualung came out that year.
Yeah. I was going to say Jethro Tull is a notable exception. I think it’s really, really hard. There are actually 150 songs across the series. There are 58 different artists. There are 108 different songwriters. And when you take into account that we include The Stones, John Lennon, Marvin Gaye, Sly and the Family Stone, and Aretha Franklin, Gil Scott-Heron, Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers, The Stooges, I mean, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, the list goes on and on and on. Pink Floyd. It’s insane. I guess there came a point where, really, the producers and the edit team wanted to spotlight and do a deep dive into some of the particular artists and their story rather than to perhaps dilate it and to try and encompass the whole story of 1971.
I mean, like you say that there’s many, many different albums that there’s still a story still to tell. Maybe there’ll be a part two of the series.
