10 Micron brings high level Italian craftsmanship to the world of astronomy with their GM1000 HPS Equatorial Mount. Behold- the step of evolution that comes past perfection for German Equatorial mounts in the shape of 10 Micron's GM 1000. Built for the most demanding astronomers, the GM 1000 refines the design principles of German Equatorial mounts to provide the utmost possible quality for your usage.

The movements of the mount are driven by two servo-brushless motors, with timing belt reduction for zero backlash. Both axes utilize worm-wheel and worm gear driven systems in conjunction with the included absolute encoders to provide smooth, stable movement of the mount head when tracking or slewing. The worm wheels are constructed from Bronze, have 250 teeth, and are of a 125 mm diameter. The worms with which they link are constructed from an alloyed steel, ground and lapped, and rendered 20mm in diameter. The Axes themselves are crafted from a 30mm diameter steel alloy for maximum rigidity and stability. The double dovetail mounting plate guarantees the maximum compatibility with a broad array of telescope manufacturers.

Another part of this mounts most excellent composition is the control box in which the majority of the systems electronics are stored. This independent control box is easily removable, convenient for portability. The connections between the motors, encoders, and hand-pad all feature security lock screws for your safety and peace of mind. This mount can be controlled through the included extrnal keypad without any need for a PC to be connected to the mount itself. That keypad in question was built to maintain the maximum possible readability in a wide variety of light conditions, and to provide a convenient, portable interface for the scopes electronic Go-To system.

It is another extremely useful and quality product from ScopeStuff. 100 compatible replacement for the original Meade 507 cable, control telescope from computer with astronomical software Works for Autostar II and LX200, Meade 497 Meade 494 Auto-star telescopes,and Meade 494 Autostar telescopes. The long AutoStar II cable certainly made using a wired AutoStar a joy with the large 12" telescope. I just had to watch out where the long cable was draping to ensure it would not catch on something. It was not quite as convenient as having a wireless AutoStar, but almost the same. Using the longer AutoStar cable was almost like I was not tethered to the telescope. This is the ScopeStuff cable in use at the 12" LX600: The ScopeStuff " Meade Autostar II Hand Controller Cable" comes in the plastic bag (seen at the top of the page) and a shipping box. The simplest and best solution was to get the long HBX cable from ScopeStuff, a well-known and reliable source of useful telescope accessories. Yes, I could get a coiled analog telephone cable, which with the proper pinouts can be used as a long AutoStar HBX cable. Having decided that I needed a longer AutoStar II cable, the next decision was where to get it. However, for some reason the same Wi-Fi adapter connection to the LX600 is incompatible with the Wireless AutoStar II, necessitating use of the wired AutoStar II when I want to use Wi-Fi. With my Meade 8" LX200-ACF I could use the Wireless AutoStar II at the same time as I was controlling the telescope using smartphone apps via Wi-Fi. I worried about straining the end connectors if the coiled cable was stretched more than shown above.Įven if I can repair the old Wireless AutoStar II handcontroller, there is still a need to use the wired AutoStar II at times. Meade Custom Hand Controller Replacement Cable for LX200-GPS, RCX400 LX600 LX850 for Autostar II & Autostar III controllers. This photo shows about the maximum stretch of the Meade cable: Holding the wired handcontroller and walking around the telescope while it is slewing is also rather limited with the short Meade cable. Why did I need a longer cable? Simply put, the 12" telescope is so large that the supplied coiled cable does not allow holding the AutoStar II handcontroller at a comfortable and usable distance from the telescope. Cleaning the key mechanisms might or might not cure the problem, but before I would attempt cleaning I new that I needed a longer AutoStar II cable than the one that Meade supplied with my new 12" LX600. Key presses were no longer reliable, making the wireless handcontroller less useful to control the telescope. Those familiar with using the corded version of the AutoStar II will easily master the Wireless AutoStar II with its new button arrangement and familiar two-line, sixteen character scrolling LED display.My Meade Wireless AutoStar II handcontroller, purchased in October 2010, just before it was discontinued, was beginning to show its age in early 2016. The adjustable brightness, red back-illuminated buttons with improved tactile-response send instantaneous commands to the telescope. The latest in technology from Meade, the Wireless Autostar II features enhanced ergonomic design for hand-held comfort.

Each controller is on a separate communication code so that any number of astronomers observing together using Wireless AutoStar II controllers will not interfere with each other. It can be used for a rapid telescope targeting with help of mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets. Compatible with any telescope controlled by AutoStar telescope control system. You can also use the software to control your telescope remotely via the internet.

The system uses radio frequency signals instead of infrared, so you won't have to be in direct line of sight for proper operation. AutoFi is a wireless adapter for telescope control systems such as Meade ETX, LX90, LXD. An AutoStar Update Tool in the software keeps your AutoStar II computer hand control current by downloading the latest system firmware updates and comet, asteroid, and satellite data from the internet.

A milestone leap in telescope control, now you can operate your LX200GPS or RCX400 telescope wirelessly! Just plug in the wireless receiver into the handbox port of the drive base, turn on the Wireless AutoStar II controller and you'll have wireless control of every feature of the telescope.
