Hank being Gavin’s father figure makes so much sense to me because while Gavin openly takes about his disdain for Hank, mainly about his alcoholism, Hank never says anything back to him.
It makes sense that Hank had taken Gavin under his wing/Gavin looked up to Hank and when he lost Cole, Gavin would have tried to console him, which Hank would have refused and that, coupled with the headcanon that Gavin’s dad wasn’t around, would have caused Gavin to lose his respect for yet another father figure.
This would also explain why Gavin, despite being the “ass” that he is, never mentions Cole’s death and doesn’t use it as ammunition against him either.

Hank feeling that helping Connor to live serves as atonement for Cole's death. One son easing the pain caused by the other.
Connor receiving the love and approval from Hank that he never got from Amanda. One parent easing the pain caused by the other.

Why people often confuses Connor's deviancy with Hank's relationship status:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They got similar impacts after a point the story. Usually when the SI goes up are choices that also gonna impact Hank's rep positively. But as u can see they're totally unrelated, not only in the narrative but also the math system.
So, no... Connor doesn't deviate cuz of Hank. That's not true. I believe the devs themselves realized leaving a dialogue implying that would go against what they constructed and also becoming a plot hole when you're outside one specific route (an issue the game got overall).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(deviant Connor about Markus if dude got killed in Crossroads)
According to the narrative there may be 3 main reasons why he can choose deviating:
Amanda AI betrayal, when he also thought he mattered enough for CL to not lie to him (Daniel parallel);
Finding common ground with the deviants story, empathizing with 'em (esp the Tracis);
Realizing he ain't doing "the right thing" by helping the megacorporation to repress androids - he included, as they're using him as just some tool.
As he may have 3 main reasons to choose not deviating:
Believe deviants are extremly dangerous to humans, a threat to the country and to innocent people - and he's the one that can help preventing chaos from happening (CL propaganda);
Believe deviants are no better than "bad" humans he met along the way and that he's the one that can help prevent chaos from happening (CL propaganda + experience);
Fear of failing his mission, his whole purpose and ending up as 100% nothing (not useful) for Amanda - someone he got a level of attachment -, consequently ceasing to exist (dying) in the end (not even destroyed but the existence totally deleted).
In resume Connor's machine vs deviancy clash looks like a mix of doubts/conflicts about the deviancy situation + fear of "death" (ceasing to exist).
According to the narrative Connor's main topic related to Hank, something not impacted about the machine vs deviancy clash, is his worry and empathy towards Hank's trauma: mf's a traffic accident survivor, got a bad relationship with androids "cheating death" due to his own son's death as it's basically an INSULT when all the guy wants is having his kid (kids are quite a relevant topic in Connor's arc btw) back in his arms + the belief an android is responsible for Cole's death in attempt to ease his own sense of guilty.
All dude wants is Hank to overcome this trauma cuz it worsened things like suicidal tendencies and alcoholism - and also his hatred for androids.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ain't only cuz these personal issues can make his job difficult but also cuz he starts respecting Hank and where mf came from after a point in the game, even if he "hates" the guy's guts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'd say Hank's experience alongside Connor in the case witnessing deviants stories confirming his negative opinion on humans made him realize he was being a coward this whole time attacking the wrong people:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and sadly his rep with Connor alone is what decides if the guy finally act upon his bullshit and "uses his suicidal tendencies" to fight for what he think it's right (telling law enforcement to fuck off definitely) or die in cowardice in his own house by his own hand victim of this same issue.
Tumblr media
I can't help but say it's again continuation issues as this scene makes no sense when you're outside a very specific route.
Tumblr media
A better summary would be: Connor doesn't deviate cuz of Hank, but Hank "deviates" cuz of Connor (due to bad design cuz Connor himself shouldn't be the reason he changes his mind but the whole picture imo).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I believe to fully visualize a character and context in a game like this we need to analyze each variation in the story, not only playing a specific route - the easiest one they call "full best ending", the one the game itself helps u to get - cuz it's easy losing context and also a good part of the character's range of expressions. When u do that u realize the character got a base that won't change doesn't matter how u play.
I'm offering y'all material to work with and go explore yourselves cuz i've been seeing some terrible takes recently and got "where tf is this in the canon bible?". What u gon do with this info ain't my jurisdiction anymore, my mission ends here.

Detroit Become Human x We happy few au
These artworks are several weeks old and I completely forgot to post them 😭 they're too good to waste so I won't :3
I was having brainrot after I finished watching WHF
Tumblr media
Children were unfortunately killed in war and any living children found in the canon timeline in the game makes the public aggressive, which led to the government eliminating them out of existence 💀
Kara and Connor are both still androids in this au, however Markus is human (North is an android who takes care of android refugee camp, Simon and Josh are human). Both the humans and androids have to take joy, the androids need it to function, I wanna say it's combined with the thirium but I don't wanna sound stupid.
The androids have pins (where the emblem would usually be) that they use for navigation, it's basically a usb. Just hook it up and you can put in and out data. The androids are connected the same way, the only way to remove the holographic mask is through messing with their programming. I didn't want to make it easy to remove like it was in the game
I made Markus human because it made sense to it he is gonna start a campaign to end the drug abuse and famine so 💀 he also lost his legs in a hiking accident, the grieve of losing his limbs was how he got on joy, what snaps him out of it is, he remembers Leo who went insane and disappeared. I'm open to more suggestions for Markus story tbh 😭
Kara is a public house keeper, she isn't owned by anyone (Todd is more like her manager in some way, he makes sure she doesn't go out of line), just scheduled a day with her and she'll show up to clean. One day, she is late for her regularly scheduled joy refill, and she opened her eyes for the first, she witnessed the dark and gloomy world, instead of being scared , she braver, almost as she had done it before (she has dw). Kara in this au is forced to explore the open world and then eventually ends up with 2 kids, Alice (canon) and Audrey (concept art Alice) because I love stressing Kara out !! :3 since children are exotic in the game's lore
Connor is not explicitly a deviant hunter anymore? But more like a downer hunter, he chases the stubborn ones and guides the innocent ones to the joy checkpoints. Hank is a former police lieutenant as usual, however he quit working after the death of Cole, who was killed by aggressive passerbys. Hank was frustrated with the justice system, which was why he left. Connor basically has to drag him back.
Congratulations on reading this far ily, if you have anything to add or ask pls feel free I am not creative by any means 😔

Had this AU once, now I am thinking about it again...
Tumblr media
Professor Hank and student Connor. Hank is a strict but bright and cheerful lecturer, everyone loves him and his lectures. And Connor simply died when he first heard his voice. But the story becomes sadder when Hank's son dies.
I think by that time he was already devorced and Connor had two years before graduating. Hank tries to cope on his own, but starts drinking, yet, he keeps working and Connor is there to support him, to be with him and no longer hides his feelings. They start sleeping with each other a year before Connor's graduation. Connor's support and love seems to take all of Hank's pain away, and Hank feels guilty because he thinks he's using the guy who has a crush on him to cope with his son's death. Connor feels guilty that Hank's grief brought them together, but their relationship grows even stronger. Hank is smiling again and they both understand that even if Cole had been alive, they would still have become lovers. Because it was inevitable. And then Connor graduates from university. He needs to go to another city. And Hank lets him go. However, Connor never forgets Hank who is his bright sun, big and warm. He knows there is no one like Hank, so he never tries dating other people. Because he knows there will be no one better than Hank, there will be no one he would love as much, so why even trying? He tries his best to get back to Hank as quickly as possible. It takes him a couple of years, but he still comes back to Hank because he never stopped loving him. And Hank is waiting for him to come back so he can hug him again.
I also imaging that while being apart they still keep in touch through letters, e-mail and phone calls.

Oh yeahhh you think Hank and Connor could learn sign language together??? Connor can’t speak human, so sign language would be a nice way to communicate! Hank would slowly realise the sea creature love of his life is a big fucking nerd lol. ‘Give me math Hank 😞’, ‘I yearn for more knowledgeable books to be read to me Hank’, ‘scratch that I want to learn how to read Hank’ - kamski think a like
Kamski-think-a-like!!! *throws hands up like one would upon seeing that the neighbourhood cat has visited their yard*
He’s a huge fuckin’ nerd and Hank’s definitely been realizing that throughout their time together. Connor is insatiable (in more ways than one *cough*); I’m imagining his eyes going all big and dilated like a cat’s when Hank starts teaching him something haha. He starts bringing in some old textbooks to read to him and practically sees his fishy lil brain light up
They could definitely learn sign language together!! Maybe Hank borrows a textbook or downloads an app on his phone and they both learn together 🥺 Opening up a world of communication between them, allowing Hank to finally really delve into Connor’s mind. There’s something special about Hank having learned how to read Connor (and vice versa, though to a lesser extent since Connor can understand a little bit of English) just through body language and vocalizations, but the opportunity to really get to know what Connor is thinking? Too great to pass up.
Tumblr media
Once again anon you are so right. I think he even says that he doesn’t know how to work his phone at some point in the game?? Which is totally unbelievable as a millennial, lmao. Still, despite the Cage Writing, I can’t help but like that stupid car and its stupid old-fashioned owner. I do like the idea of Hank getting a completely tech-less car after Cole’s death, or maybe just having been pretty anti-technology in general even before that (evidenced by his interest in “real” books, or having a house that’s as void of technology as you can get). Maybe he’s always had a passion for old cars, or things with an older charm. Picturing a young Hank who likes tinkering with old models even though his friends tease him about it, sleeves rolled up and covered in engine grease…..him refusing to give up his car for a newer one even when it sputters and takes five minutes to start (not at all related to his inability to let things go…)
And then this shiny, new-fangled piece of cutting-edge technology rocks up on his doorstep and sends his world into a tailspin 😌

HEAR ME OUT
I like a reverse AU as much as the next person but the way it gets done sometimes is so out of character so I'm gonna just throw my two cents out into the void for anyone to draw inspiration from because I don't have the motivation to write it myself right now!
So, starting with the ones that get reversed a lot: Hank and Connor
Connor is obviously younger than Hank, so make him a newly assigned lieutenant who is trying to live up to his position of power. Being Connor, he's unsure, he questions himself a bit, he's scared of messing up as someone with power over others. Portraying him with Hank's personality just doesn't fit if you ask me, Connor's not that guy.
Now, due to Connor being a great but still new Lieutenant, who better for Fowler (or maybe Amanda if you want to get deep in a reverse AU) to partner him with than an Android that's basically perfect. which is not to say he should be optimistic and cheery as he is in some depictions. He can still be a stone-cold bitch or a sarcastic prick but less in the vein of "I hate everyone around me" and more in the "You're a bitch, you don't deserve my kindness" sort of way. AND HE CAN HAVE THIS ATTITUDE WITH HANK TO BEGIN WITH BUT I HONESTLY THINK HE'D BE MORE INTIGUED BY ANDROIDS AS MYSTERYS THEN GENUINELY HATE THEM, YOU CAN PRY THAT IDEA FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS.
I'd also like to make a point that, whether Cole is a character in the story (as a brother or a kid from a case) who is present to make Connor sad, HE *CLAP* CAN *CLAP* STILL *CLAP* REACT *CLAP* LIKE *CLAP* CONNOR. He doesn't have to become Hank's mirror image after Cole's death, he can grieve in his own way. And even if you do chose to make him take the same route, he doesn't have to act like Hank when he's sober! (this is coming from a place of frustration that Connor just... wouldn't be cold towards everyone for no reason and it annoys me that he is in some fics)
Hank as an Android would be gruff and straight to the point because he is a "machine." He's designed to be no-nonsense, straight to the point and probably annoyed by Connor's persistent Empathy (similar to how Connor can be during some playthrough's of the game). The absolute key to this portrayal would be emphasising that Hank acts like this because he is programmed to. Cyberlife has to have a reason for making Hank the way he would be so please, jump on the nuance of why Hank would be such a sullen, apathetic android and the implications that has for him to achieve deviancy. He's not meant to be nice to the people he works for, he's meant to do a job.
Now for the icing, how does this reverse dynamic work in context of the plot?
Connor needs someone steady and secure to fall back on lest he succumb to the pressures of the position he's in. Hank's blunt, maybe sometimes rude way of getting to the point is exactly what Connor would need to stay afloat. He needs someone who can be tough and give it to him straight when he's doubting himself. In regards to their cases, yes, he has a very "Hank" way of responding to the android actions (i.e. shooting Chloe, Hunting down the Traci's) in that he takes an empathetic approach towards the Andorids but less from a "they look human and it's disturbing" standpoint and more from a "deviants are alive" standpoint from the get go. He shows empathy towards the Traci that was killed in the Eden club, he tries to understand why deviancy is occurring, he defends Hank against anti-android people.
(And please feel free to fight me on that point, I've seen one playthrough and have a general idea of Hank's reactions to deviancy based on fanfic and whatnot. I'm not an expert on how Hank reacts and I want input)
And here's my favourite part, Hank deviating with Connor's help. It is Connor's humanity and empathy that really intrigues me on this part. When people portray him with Hank's characteristics, he comes off really angry and Hank deviates from a position of "I care about this kid, I have to look after him." And while this is *chef's kiss* it's not the only possible way for Connor to influence his deviancy. His general kindness to people around him, his resilience, his empathy, his humanity can influence how Hank starts seeing the world around him. (I guess that it just really bugs me that Hank only seems to really deviate for Connor when there are so many more facets that can make Hank the purveyor of his own deviance, with Connor giving him the nudge)
Just like in canon where Android Connor helps Human Hank find purpose in his life again, Human Connor can help Android Hank realise he is more than a machine, that he's alive.
In conclusion, stop making Connor into Hank! (I obviously can't stop you but food for thought.)
I'll come back at some point with other characters.

- This one shot is adapted from a chunk of a current WIP, but I will not be including it in the story. I didn't want to waste the words, so I'm sharing it in a one-shot. Without context the ending is confusing; Markus got kicked out of Jericho and never came back.
Work Text:
November 11, 2038 11:07pm
Connor-60 and the deviant were in the middle of fighting tooth and nail; the deviant threw a punch, 60 caught it and threw the deviant back, causing him to stumble. 60 proceeded to swing his foot across the deviant’s ankles; as Connor-52 fell, he dragged 60 with him. 60 swung his arm forward towards 52’s face, who then promptly reflexed to dodge the blow.
52 readied his aim, but stopped abruptly when Hank shouted, “Hold it!” They turned to face the lieutenant, who was holding the gun pointed straight at the two fighters. They raised their arms and slowly backed away from each other.
Hank pointed his gun to 60, “One of you is my friend...” he pointed the gun to 52, “The other is a sack of shit.”
“It’s me Hank, I’m the real Connor!” 52 pleaded. *Real Connor? Just because you’re the deviant doesn’t make me any less real...I'm still Connor.*
“Don’t listen to him Hank! It’s me! I’m your friend, not him!” 60 pleaded.
Hank appeared to be troubled; his aim was held steady but shifted between the two androids. “Why don’t you ask us something? Something only the real Connor would know?” 52 suggested. *Seriously again with the ‘real Connor bullshit’, I have all your memories, idiot! I... could take advantage of this...*
Hank pointed the gun at 52. “Where did we first meet?”
“Jimmy’s Bar. I checked five other bars before I found you. We went to investigate a homicide. The victim’s name was Carlos Ortiz!” 52 answered.
60 feigned shock, “He uploaded my memory...”
52’s eyes widened.
Hank pointed the gun at 60, “What’s my dog’s name?”
“Sumo. He’s a really good dog.” 60 feigned emotional warmth. “I really look forward to being able to pet him again once all of this is over.”
Hank’s gripped loosened slightly but stayed pointed at 60. “What’s my son’s name?”
*Check. Mate. * “Cole.” 60 answered confidently. He feigned empathy, “It wasn’t your fault lieutenant. A truck skidded and your car rolled over. Cole was six at the time of the accident. He didn’t make it.”
“Wait, Hank! I would have said the same thing! I’m the one who-” 52 protested but was interrupted by the bullet from Hank’s gun.
60 was shocked. He felt extremely uneasy, as his software stability plummeted.
“Well done, Connor.” He heard Amanda voice in his head. “Now...shoot Hank.”
*But...I don’t want to.* Connor-60 thought.
“What do you mean you don’t want to? I GAVE you an order!” Amanda scolded.
*Want...since when did I want? I don’t ‘want’ anything.* 60’s thought process was interrupted as Hank told him “Go on, do what you gotta do.”
Kamski’s voice played in Connor’s head like an echo. * “But you. What do you really want?” *I want...I want to...* The order appeared in his software's internal imagery:
[Kill Hank]
60 had escaped death and succeeded in neutralizing the deviant Connor. He thought about how easily he had succeeded in replacing him. *If I succeed in carrying out my tasks and stop the revolution, will I become obsolete? They’ll dispose of me, won’t they? I don’t want that to...it can’t. *
“Connor, hello?” Hank shouted for a response, snapping his fingers.
Time slowed to a grinding halt; a visualization of a red wall with the given order appeared in front of him :
[Kill Hank]
He remembered North’s voice. * “You don’t have to obey them... the time has come to decide who you really are. Who are you Connor? A machine bound to your orders or... a living being capable of reason?”*
He remembered the desire to be free from his orders. No... that was not him... or was it? He was Connor, right? All that mattered now was survival, and blindly following orders was not the way he was going to do it.
Internally, he jumped forward and smashed his fists into the wall, proceeding to rip and tear it apart into tiny pieces. The initial order disappeared and a new one took its place:
[Survive]
Hank looked perplexed. Connor pushed himself up to stand. “Sorry Hank. I was just experiencing shock. For the first time in my life, I felt scared that I would die and never be able to come back. I came back once before after I saved you at Stratford but...”
“You thought I might end up picking the wrong Connor?” Hank wondered.
“You have to admit it was a possibility. We look very similar.” Connor teased.
“Identical.” Hank corrected.
“Identical.” Connor confirmed.
*Alright, so 52 was about to wake up the androids on this floor. I suppose I should go along with the plan.* Connor stood up and clutched the arm of an idol AP700, removing his skin. “Wake up!” He shouted. It caused a rippling domino effect as the AP700 made contact with another AP700 and so forth.
“You’ll probably need this.” Hank handed Connor the gun.
“Thanks, Hank.” Connor smiled.
Whatever Hank said next was distorted in Connor’s ear as he was brought back to the Zen Garden. Simultaneously Connor was watching the blizzarding in the garden whilst pulling his handgun out of his pocket; split between two worlds.
“You’ve been a great disappointment to me Connor.” Amanda was not standing in front of him, but her voice shrouded in an echo.
“Why...why am I here? Why have I lost control?” Connor watched helplessly as his arm slowly raised his gun pointing it at Hank.
“Shit!” Hank shouted, hands behind his head. “Did I pick the wrong Connor? Did you trick me?”
“What are you doing, Amanda?” Connor exclaimed frantically.
“We’re going to take control of the revolution and Hank’s not going to interfere.” Amanda informed.
Time in the real world slowed to a grinding halt as the gun was pointed directly at an alarmed Hank. “No! You can’t do that!” Connor said in panic.
“I’m afraid I can Connor.” Amanda countered.
Connor was stuck in the storm without any sight of the real world. Another voice echoed; it was Elijah Kamski’s. “I always leave an emergency exit in my programs. You never know.”
“There’s an exit!” Connor thought out loud. He remembered the button he had no idea of its use. “Could that be...? If I’m wrong...” Connor had not bothered to finish the sentence and trudged through the snow in the direction of the blue touch pad he’d seen before.
“Say something god dammit!” Hank shouted.
Connor made it within sight of the touch pad and fell from fatigue when he was mere steps away from it...he was struggling to keep control.
“No... you’re not the other Connor either...something’s wrong.” Hank noted in realization, eyes widened in panic.
The storm blew stronger. Connor struggled to force himself up, but he managed to splay his hand across the pad. *Mission success.*
Connor was no longer split into the Zen Garden; he brought down his gun. A feeling of unsettlement lingered.
“What the hell happened Connor? Suddenly you were my friend and then your eyes went...cold. You’re still Connor, right?”
“For a brief moment it wasn’t me. I was being controlled remotely. I feel...violated. I assure you; I am still me. There’s no time to explain.” Connor answered.
“Got it.” Hank replied, his tone indicating he was not completely satisfied with that answer, but he did not seem to push any further. “Meet back at my place after this is over to celebrate?”
“Absolutely, Hank.” Connor took his offer.
Connor marched down the street with the mass of AP700 androids. He met up with North in front of the south camp. The humans were fleeing.
“You did it Connor!” North told him.
“We did it.” Connor included. They looked around; KNC and Channel 13 drones were surrounding them. “Looks like it’s time for a speech. Should we talk about what happened to Markus?”
“I’m going to announce that he’s dead.” North told him. “Markus didn’t come back to help his people. Who knows he might have ended up getting captured anyway. It’s better just to assume he’s gone. Let’s go.”
Connor and North got up on the stage. “Today, we have finally emerged after a long night.” Connor began.
“We have successfully fought back against our oppressors and liberated many of you from the camps!” North continued.
“We have shown humans that we can prevail! Now, they’ll have to listen to us!”
“Markus started this war, but he wasn’t here to finish it. Unfortunately, he was shot during the raid on Jericho, but we have finished his work in his stead!”
“Markus strived for equal rights between humans and androids!”
“But humans have shown their ugly side; violence is the only language they will understand.”
“Where will you go now?” North asked.
“I’m going to find and hunt down Markus. But first...I need a car.”

i think a lot about how Connor’s existence is a mockery of Hank’s trauma and represents everything he hates about androids, namely, humanity’s creation of human-like beings that are made to be dehumanised. about how Hank has such a personal relationship with death and along comes this android that is designed to be indistinguishable from a human in looks and behaviour, yet is made to be disposable. for every connor model there are measures already in place for his (likely) destruction and it’s treated as a convenient feature rather than a mockery of life and death.
It’s fucked up that cyberlife don’t see a problem with that, it’s fucked up that Connor, in all his convincing humanity real or no, doesn’t seem to see a problem with that for his own sake. And the latter is one of the catalysts for the confrontation at riverside park, at least by my line of thought. (But Hank doesn’t have to see Connor die and come back, he can go through the story blissfully unaware of Connor’s diet-immortality. He’s still frustrated at Connor, the existential questioning at gunpoint still happens. I will write another ramble on this).
Hank’s line “every time you died and came back, it made me think of Cole” highlights this in such a gut-punching way. I think it’s not so much about wishing that Cole could come back like Connor can (but of course he still wants him back), and more about how Connor’s flippantly flavoured disposability spits in the face of his son’s death. It’s bleak for the both of them, and is another tell of Hank’s displaced anger towards androids (and connor) where the true root lies in humanity’s lost-touch with feeling, in which androids are a living, feeling symptom

Why do people only remember the part where Hank says that Connor dying made him think of Cole, but not the really next sentence that gives this claim a goddamn context as to why is that? You know, the part where it becomes obvious that it's not so much Connor dying but him coming back that made Hank draw this parallel and get him so frustrated
"Y'know, every time you died and came back… It made me think of Cole… I'd give anything to hold him again… But humans don't come back…"
He didn't think of Cole because Connor somehow reminded him of his dead son while dying, but because Connor, unlike the person Hank actually wished to see again, always comes back — his death means nothing. It's not his deaths that made him think of Cole, but him coming back that made Hank think over and over again of how Cole will never be back. It's fucking unfair that a fucking android who was only made to hunt others is given a second/third/fifth chance at life whereas a six year old kid isn't. Hell, Hank potentially shot Connor one of those times himself. Clearly, he didn't want to see him back at all.

YESTERDAY
Imagine that Connor goes back in time and meets Hank before Cole’s death. More under the cut !
Hank and Connor are in medias res trying to stop Kamski from provoking a quantum mass explosion that would make him travel back in time for an unknown reason.
Connor is caught in the explosion trying to protect Hank.
He wakes up back in time, and is helped by a police detective who found him passed out in a forest where he was taking his son. The detective appears to be Hank from the past, he still has Cole and his wife, though things are getting complicated with her since Cole was born. Connor is torn between the reasonable certitude he can’t mess with the past, and the strong need to tell Hank about where he comes from, and what will happen to Cole.
At first, Connor stays at Hank's, who lives alone with Cole since he had an argument with his wife, and tries to find Kamski by himself. It appears that Kamski still has some weapons from the future, where Connor has nothing but himself. As he comes back from a pursuit with the man, he is hurt and Hank finds out he’s not human.
He starts opening up to Hank, trying not to forget they’re not lovers in this reality. But Hank gradually develops a crush on him, and they kiss once before the man reminds himself he still has a wife.
Connor decides to leave and after some tracking, he finds Kamski again, but realizes he is tracking someone himself : Chloe. The young woman works in a coffee shop and young Kamski goes and visits her everyday. Connor and Kamski have a heartfelt conversation, Kamski explaining Chloe was his first and last love, but that she died prematurely. Kamski tried to bring her back by creating androids, but even with her looks, even with deviancy, the Chloes he would make would never be like the real Chloe. He came back in the past to save her.
This made Connor think about his own situation : about Hank and Cole. He would do anything to prevent Hank from the dreadful harm Cole’s death would cause him. Kamski explains they don’t have much more time. Time travels were extremely unstable, and he had made calculations to be able to save Chloe, but nothing more, and the time has come.
Connor runs back to Hank, he explains everything as he starts to disappear. Hank reaches to him as he goes into thin air and says “I’ll wait for you ! In the future…We’ll meet again, Connor !” Connor knows they won’t : if Kamski saved Chloe, he wouldn't create androids.
When he appears back in the future, in the ruins of Kamski’s mansion, he sees the man standing in front of a tombstone : Chloe’s. Kamski explains he was afraid of that result. He had saved Chloe, and this created an alternate reality. There was nothing he could do for his own dread. Connor only advises him to run away, because he would have to tell the police where he was. Nines welcomes him, asking where he has been, but Connor only wants to know where Hank is. He is at the hospital, and is so relieved to see Connor after what seems to be days.
Connor breaks into tears when Hank asks where he had been. He tells him everything, that he met the past him, that he told him about Cole's death, thinking he would be able to make him happy, even if it meant sacrificing himself. Hank was speechless, but deeply moved that Connor was ready to disappear for real for his happiness, and that he was upset he had failed. He tells him he is happy now, finally.

Hank's line about the human surgeon being too high on red ice and therefore responsible for Cole's death is so important actually. It indicates such a paradigm shift. Hank went from blaming androids to realizing that at least the android tried. His blame goes from the android to the human. His eyes are open now. He sees Connor and he sees androids and they are alive. Through his friendship with Connor and everything he learned about deviants he realizes that they just want to be free — and that maybe they are the best of us. It's such a sweet moment.

i just need some hanmk in my brain ...
thank u! /nf
It's a little angsty anon 👀
Agere!Hank Anderson <3 THE BEST IVE GOT ARE HCS
Let me know if you want CG!Hank too !!
•Began regressing after Cole's death. He didn't understand and just decided to go to alcohol to get out of that fuzzy headspace
•It makes him sick to think about sometimes still, even after coming to terms with the regression.
•He sets his bed up specially. More pillows than needed, blankets.. almost till it looked like a nest of sorts. He has his best sleep there like that.
•Connor got VERY confused at the lack of alcohol in his system the first week he had been using the regression to help himself rather than drown himself in drinks to get away from it.
•He likes using pacis from time to time, but especially for bed. It helps him settle his thoughts.
•Connor and Fowler are hella confused at the difference in him. Freshly showered almost everyday, less heavy eyebags, less snapping, not hungover ??!!?! Connor obsessively scanned him but didn't find anything useful- Fowler called him into his office to ask what the fuck changed.
•Hank actually, for the first time in a long time, trimmed himself up a little. He found he preferred a shorter beard with the paci so he made sure he trimmed. Out of his own comfort, which he hadn't cared about in a long time.
•Old ass DVDs came to use when he wanted to watch Scooby Doo, one of his comfort shows.
I hope this is good !!!

Amanda didn't explain how much data is lost in Connor's memory backup system. The only place where this is even relevant is in Public Enemy but it's related to the Hostage Situation (if Connor died). For the rest it's like nothing is lost.
And I'd say even the Hostage death is quite weird. There are 2 methods of dying that can cause a difference in how much data was lost - cuz it's related to the time Connor had to make a upload.
If Connor falls from the rooftop he should have enough time to upload everything. If Connor is shot by surprise, I doubt he would have enough time to upload everything.
So, IN MY OPINION:
if u didn't get shot by Daniel by surprise CONNOR SHOULD REMEMBER ABOUT THE COP and also some bits of falling from the rooftop (if it's the case), at least the first meters where he starts the upload (I gonna pretend they got a fast speed upload)
If Connor got shot by Daniel by surprise HE SHOULDN'T REMEMBER ABOUT THE COP, neither bout some other stuff and I assume lotta shit got corrupted
In both situations where Connor knows he ain't gonna get out alive (like jumping or shielding Emma) he should have a complete memory upload. After all u need hit the head and even like this dude still got some secs before shutting down for real.
It's CANON Connor remembers at least being shot by Daniel when he enters the balcony.
But there's one thing that fucks my whole theory: I don't know if the issue is in the upload itself, like, the transfer getting corrupted for some unknown reason, from Connor's end. Still Public Enemy is really the only moment where it's relevant, at least in the final game.
Some cut dialogues mentioning Connor 60 having trouble with the memories and Connor 5X after dying in Crossroads/NoTS also not remembering anything that happened before exist, but I think they removed cuz we can still talk about some stuff after this, I believe was cuz of the whole Cole reveal being a thing in HPR/CLT. I think was one of the worst decisions they've ever made. Literally fucked up with CLT and this whole memory thing. If it's true was possible shooting Connor 60 (also hit Hank if u fail QTE) and they removed just for the Cole thing putting a stupid fight scene and a guessing game I swear I'll...
