Sisterhood of the traveling music. I meant to kept writing the ask in, but then I would get to tried.
But I’ll give this list a listen. I’m always on the look out for new music. I love throwing YouTube and Spotify algorithm for a loop.
I would also love to hear your recommendations for Deep South rap, I think you mentioned it in a post and I got super curious.
Also I haven’t kept on every post but I think I saw that you live in Hawaii? If so I wanted to know have you discovered any cool Hawaiian singers or music? Local or big.
I’ll come back as 🎶 when I finish listening to your list tho.
🎶
Omg I love the idea of that!
🎶🎼🎵 🎶🎼🎵 🎶🎼🎵 🎶🎼🎵 🎶🎼🎵
A lot of the rappers on there are dirty south—ATL, Memphis, Houston, and most of like Mississippi and Alabama rappers fall in this category. Maybe I’ll do a pussy poppin’ playlist after you listen to this one and that one will be all dirty south club bangers.
Yes! I’ve been listening to some island music. I’ll share some here but I have been Shazamming like crazy and am working on a playlist. If we become besties for real let’s trade Spotify info :) then you can see all my playlists :)

Today’s compilation:
Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Masters Collection, Volume 2 1999 Hawaiian Folk
This is an album with very relaxing and very pretty Hawaiian folk guitar music, but it's not something you really need to give your undivided attention to. It moreso complements a certain type of vibe rather than serves as a centerpiece. I'd say that, for the most part, this album's perfect for something like a tropical outdoor beachside café type of setting. Excellent passive listening material; unobtrusively stellar ambiance.
So, with that said, as someone who considers themselves to be an active listener—meaning that I can sit and stare at a wall for hours on end with music in my ears and be thoroughly entertained—only one track in this collection truly impresses me: Cyril Pahinui's "Hurrah Lani Ha'a Ha'a," a song that puts some of Pahinui's elite dexterity as a fingerstyle guitarist on display. That's a tune that contains some of that complexity that I'm always craving.
Fingerstylists are collectively the most slept on guitarists in the world. People crow for Hendrix, Page, etc., and rightfully so, but those people who can manage to sound like they're somehow playing more than one guitar at once by using multiple fingers to play different sets of notes in rapid succession are the true GoATs in my book. Won’t see them on any kind of “Greatest Guitarists of All Time” list though 😒.
Highlights:
Cyril Pahinui - "Hurrah Lani Ha'a Ha'a"
