I’ve been getting into the Magnus archives… and I decided I wanted to draw one of the characters- so here’s Michael! This isn’t usually what I post but I didn’t really know where else to put it
(I have just found out I gave him bones when I shouldn’t have- I might take these down out of sheer distrotness and self-consciousness)

Gertrude and the cat-avatars
Summary: Gertrude let one cat in. Said cat has a habit of bringing in other cats.
A/N: During @dcartcorner's stream the topic of avatars as cats came up and I decided to write a little something for it. I have another part with the Distortions that might be posted later. Also worth noting: I do not own a cat, never have, I'm horrible with cat breeds, so I've tried to describe Simon/Peter/Elias through this art and Mike's look is taken from this
Lastly: Not beta read by someone else, just me and my lil google document.
Pt 1, You're here! / Pt 2, Michael and Helen Distortion, Agnes / Pt 3, Annabelle, Jude, Oliver / Pt 4, John, Jane, Maxwell, Manuela / Pt 5, Jon, Martin, Sasha, Tim / Pt 6, Melanie, Daisy, Basira, Georgie / Pt 7, Jared, Gerry, Nikola / Bonus, a visit to the vet / Halloween bonus!
Simon was the first cat she actually adopted. It had been one of her coworkers who had wanted to get rid of him due to their financial situation and asked Gertrude about it. Claiming that he was old and an inside cat, easy to take care of. She had agreed. Thinking it would be easy and that, in the worst case, Simon would not live for long after getting him. She could not have been more wrong.
Sometimes he could have passed as a kitten. Rather small for what he was meant to be, thin despite the amount of food he ate, his gray fur was not fluffy enough to hide how thin he could look. Despite it all, the veterinarian had claimed him healthy. He was also not that much of an indoor cat. Sometimes, whenever he felt like it, he would wander out of the house, sometimes gone for days. Gertrude did not mind it that much. He was a rather loud and talkative cat after all.
Simon also had a habit of getting more cats to her doorstep.
One day she opened the door to see small Simon standing proudly in the middle of two new cats. One looked nearly ridiculous next to him. Light beige and at least three times bigger and fluffier, with yellow eyes that sort of made it look like he did not want to be there. To the other side was a mainly brown cat, who seemed to be in a perfect middle of size and fluff. A bit of white around the eyes, nose, stomach and paws. He looked at her with judgemental green eyes and for a moment she worried if a cat could actually see into someone’s soul. Since they kept coming back she had named the two Peter, the fluffy cat and the other Elias.
Peter came and went. Similarly to Simon, he could be gone for days, maybe even weeks. Whenever he was home he was with Elias and/or Simon, being quiet and calm. Elias was probably the most judgemental cat she had ever come across. He was not really loud or overly talkative, but he could spend hours in a corner just looking at her without blinking. It was a bit creepy and sometimes it felt like he was secretly planning to kill her in her sleep.
Four months ago Simon was gone for a week, only to come back in with a very disgruntled cat. Looking rather similar to Peter, though smaller, thinner bit of brown around the eyes, paws, tip of ears and tail, including a branching scar most visible on the back. Despite the cat not being a small kitten, Simon still managed to drag them there. The cat had seemingly accepted its fate, making Gertrude question how far from home they were.
She had taken the cat to a veterinarian the day after. It was a male, named Mike, who had once belonged to a couple that passed two years before in a house fire. The scar was older, though it had gotten infected over the two years. She had gotten more of a rundown of everything that was wrong with Mike and she planned to simply let him up for adoption, except Simon did not seem to leave Mike’s side. So, Gertrude accepted Mike in. If only until he was healthy again, by then Simon would hopefully be over it.
Since then Gertrude had tried to throw Mike back on the streets while Simon was away. Except the pair kept coming back. Which caused her current situation. Sitting on her sofa, trying to watch TV, except she found herself staring at Mike, who had made himself comfortable on the shelf next to a vase, glaring back at her. His paw slowly raising towards the vase, never breaking eye contact. Gertrude narrowed her eyes. Until -
There was no crash. The vase was no longer on the shelf but it was also not shattered on the ground. Her eyes did not leave the falling - flying? - vase. It did not really stop the small cat from glaring at her.
Gertrude had no real clue how long it was like that. The vase floating on the spot, her looking at the vase and Mike glaring at her. Like a picture, frozen in time. At least until -
CRASH
Well fuck.

MR BONZO IS HERE TO STAY, DAMN EP 12
HOLY SHIT OKAY
Forgive me here, I am two days out from a massive final so this is technically procrastination, but shhhhh.
RIGHT HOLY SHIT.
I am seeing people say all over the place, and I totally agree, that this is one of, if not the most intense, gruesome, and AWESOME episode of TMAGP yet. I am beyond excited to see what else Mr Bonzo is going to do.
HE RIPPED THE GUYS ARMS OFF AND SNAPPED HIS JAW LIKE A PISTACHIO. OH MY GOD???????
He is definitely the most... explicit (?) foil that we've seen so far. Like okay- with tma, we had some pretty intense statements, yes. But thinking about our key villains; Nikola Orsinov, Jane Prentiss, Michael/Helen, Mike Crew, even Jonah Magnus to be honest, we really only heard about their horrifying deeds conceptually?
Like it WAS very scary when Nikola was cheerfully threatening to remove John's skin, and hearing Martin's first encounter with Prentiss, but again- those are either the conception of or the aftermath of something horrible.
This time, we are seeing someone's first hand account of a BRUTAL death and following carnage. Not just seeing bodies, or alluding to a crime. This is way more real, and way more threatening.
I am delightfully terrified by this rancid, non-soft teeth, Mr Blobby reject, and I for one cannot wait to see what he does next.
Mr Bonzo's on his way.... he wants to stay he wants to play....

notes on cancer women
Cancer women don’t run down men. We MAKE them come to us with our lunar pull and when they’re with us we treat them better (sexually and otherwise) than almost any other woman in the zodiac. We’re the first water sign and as such, our pussies stay wet and we know how to get dicks hard as well as wet. We’re the best sex in the zodiac and men are hooked on us. We’re also the most feminine. We’re the women who can best intuit our man’s needs and desires. We’re the ones that can hang with his (guy) friends. We’re the ones who can even chill with other women, if they’re secure enough. We’re the ones he takes home to mom. Other girls are for a good time, we’re here for a long time. We’re the types that a man marries. We’re literally every woman. However, we’re also independent af so although we love to be with someone, most times we know how to be alone. My friends are constantly asking me when I will get a boyfriend and I have no intentions of dating right now (plus most relationships are shallow af so I don’t want to be part of that drama). Single life is lit.
Our personalities are so kind and deeply caring that they may look manufactured to a lot of people who don’t understand us, but trust me, they are REAL. We are THAT crazy lol. We HATE being fake and we hate fake people. I literally don’t understand how someone can be fake and live with themselves. Also, we get it, as the emotional creatures that we are, our personalities can go from one extreme to the next but WE CAN’T HELP IT. I sometimes don’t even understand my own goddamn self and I find myself doing shit I didn’t even think I would ever do the day before.
Depending on who you are and how you treat us, we can be the sensitive sweethearts you love, or we can be the sensitive sweethearts you love to hate. Whether we (or others) like it or not, most Cancer women generally express their feelings so openly and it makes all sorts of people get involved—and unfortunately it’s usually the wrong people.
As to the degree of emotional transparency we have…it depends on the moon sign of the Cancer woman really. As a Capricorn moon, the only, ONLY other person who can spot that something is wrong with me emotionally is my mother. I actually care about certain things, I have a really big heart to the few that deserve it, but I don’t really show it.
About the selfish thing, yes as Cardinal signs, we may come off as selfish human beings who have no regards for anyone but ourselves but when you get to know us, we really have one of the biggest hearts of the zodiac. We actually care for people, but we are a very cautious sign and we gotta know each other first before we care THAT much.
Oh and we let you walk out of our lives, so the “clingy” stereotype really needs to die. We’re loyal and we don’t give up on people, but we don’t really run down people either (at least not for too long). Just make sure that if you decide to walk away from us, be sure that you are REALLY done with us, because if you decide to try and come back in, it is 1000x harder the first time (if you’re accepted back at all).
We may come off as rude, but the truth is, we see bullshit before ANYONE else does. Our intuition is head and shoulders above ALL of the other signs. I remember two years ago, people wondered why I was constantly giving this girl the side eye whenever she was right beside me, two years later they FINALLY understand. Sometimes we really do say things that can actually hurt others (we sometimes don’t understand it because we’re the type to want people to like us) but most times we don’t mean to hurt anyone. We would go home and feel guilty about it and internalize it and feel bad for days. Well…that’s in my case.
I see a lot of utterances on here and elsewhere about how Cancers aren’t smart and aren’t regarded for their intelligence. Alan Turing? Helen Keller? Nikola Tesla, anyone? And again, we’re smart enough to see bullshit before anyone else does, so how tf are we dimwitted???
I also hear and read that we’re “followers”. Followers? Are you sure you are looking at the right zodiac sign? Because if anything, the unpopular truth is that folks follow us. We’re cardinal signs and we’re the leaders of emotion, as such, we make it okay for others to be kind and to care and to be nurturing and empathetic. We do our own thing, roll our own way and we like being uniquely us. We aren’t the ‘follow the crowd’ type of sign. If you are looking for that, head on over to Libras and Pisces.
Reading about how salty everyone is towards Cancer women, just goes to show that we are VERY misunderstood. We’re the shit without having to shit on anyone. I guess that burns people up, lol.
Also, if any of you people have any problems with a Cancer in your life (and by the way Cancers are talked about/not talked about/willfully ignored/written about/dismissed it seems everyone and their grandmother’s dog does lol), talk to them, be REAL with them. PLEASE tell them how you’re feeling. Tell them EVERYTHING. Vent it out. Even if it hurts. At the end of the day, we do not like fakeness and we are DEFINITELY not the sign to deal with that.
We can be earnest and genuine to a fault and we find it really annoying when confronted with someone who isn’t; we’ll try to deal with you to an extent, but the more evolved among us won’t even bother, we’ll just give up and walk away. If we just someone, the more evolved among us will take our actions into consideration since unlike all the other signs, we truly don’t like hurting anyone, ESPECIALLY the people we actually care about. Again, depending on the moon sign (since we’re lunar creatures), we may or may not show it, but we do care.
If we have a problem with a friend or lover, we have the rare ability to articulate it without sounding accusatory. But if we’ve done something wrong, we take the blame rather than blaming them. We are never jealous without reason, and no matter how badly someone wrongs us, we never fall into the trap of self-pity. We calm others down rather than get them riled up. Despite the unfortunate name of this star sign, we are the cure for relationship cancer.
I’m dying to know the date and time you fell to earth from heaven. Do you have pictures? You’re almost too good to be real, but in a world of fakes, you’re the real deal. You’re that good, and anyone who doesn’t realize it the moment that they meet you is going to cause you trouble. Whenever someone has a problem with you, I don’t even need to hear the details. I already know that they’re in the wrong. Did you ever hear someone say, “It’s not you—it’s me”? Trust them when they say that. It’s not you. It’s them. It’s never been you, and it’s ALWAYS been them.

Hi hi 😊 For the fanfic writer asks!
🍄🥑🍕
Hi hi! Thanks for the ask!
🍄 How do you come up with ideas for your stories? - They come from anywhere and everywhere. 😅 Songs, games, a random comment on the radio, someone pointing something out on Tumblr. It's great, but also a pain in the arse because sometimes I don't write down the idea and so I forget it.
🥑 What are you currently working on? - There isn't much of a list, because work and parenthood are kicking my arse atm, but there's:
the roommate fic
the “Helen decides that if Abby is so in love with Will, and Will won’t listen to Abby’s comments about what she likes in bed, she (Helen) will tell him exactly how to behave” fic (slowly working on that one - it has its opening scene that needs reworking)
the mash up fic of Your Girlfriend and The Walls Are Way Too Thin (this has been on the back-burner for about a year and a half - it's an AU where the guys from The Five are sharing student digs, and Helen/John get together, except Nikola thinks there might be something between him and Helen (there is, because Helen has chemistry with everyone), and James is pining hard for John. Nigel’s just there, trying to do his Chemistry degree and drink tea. Its based on a song by Blossoms and another by Holly Humberstone, and it is plaguing me to write it).
Like, there are wips I should be working on (like I have one where Helen is a vampire, and both she and Nikola are psychically connected and cannot be ten feet away from each other, or one where Will can see all the strings connecting people to each other) but I'm either not in the right headspace or I just don't know what comes next (I have a Teslen version of The Mummy I've been writing for years on and off - Nikola, Nigel and Helen have just got on the boat in Cairo, and Helen’s all cleaned up (because she’s Rick in this caper) and aaaah), so I don't actively think of them as wips. My brain is weird.
🍕What's your favorite comment you've received on a fic? - Any time someone leaves an essay (19 Edits not withstanding), or when someone comments on a fic they wouldn't normally touch because they saw it was me. I super 100% appreciate that. :)

Happy Tuesday, please enjoy a snippet of post-Circus Jon angst to the tune of “what if Jon didn’t believe he’d actually escaped the Circus when Helen rescued him?”
--
Time doesn't mean much inside Michael's–Helen's–the Distortion's corridors, but Jon doesn't think he's been there long before Helen opens a door for him and he stumbles forward–into a place that looks very much like his office.
The lights are off, the only illumination coming from the door still hanging open behind him, but he can see the outline of his desk, his uncomfortable wooden chair, the coat stand in the corner. The light from the doorway makes the shadows bend and stretch in strange ways. Jon squeezes his eyes shut.
"Home sweet home," Helen says cheerfully. "Don't say I never did anything for you, Archivist."
And before he can say anything in return, she laughs–a laugh that is completely different from Michael's, but somehow exactly the same–and closes the door, leaving Jon standing alone and naked in the dark.
It feels like an eternity before Jon is able to make himself move mechanically over to the door to turn on the light. He squints again at the sudden brightness.
He stands there for a moment, staring at the familiar clutter scattered across his desk: pens and pencils lined up in serried rows next to his desk lamp; a few post-its with scribbled reminders stuck along the edge; statements slipping out of their haphazard stack on one side of the desk, only partially shored up by the tape recorder sitting next to them.
(he hadn't taken the tape recorder when he left, after all, he knew he hadn't–he determinedly refuses to think about the implications of the one that had seemingly appeared in his bag sometime before he was taken)
The statements, the tape recorder, the pens and pencils and post-its: it all looks more less exactly as he remembers having left it.
Jon doesn't believe it for a second.
It's too perfect, too exact to the memory in his head. He's not sure how long he's been gone, but surely in that time someone would have moved things on his desk, picked up the statements, something.
Surely they would have noticed.
Jon pushes that thought away as soon as it appears (why should they notice? a nasty voice whispers in his ear. why should they care?). He shivers–it was always too cold in this office. He wishes they hadn't bothered with that particular detail. After a moment's consideration, he crosses to his desk and opens the bottom drawer; to his relief, the clothes he stashed there are still folded neatly at the bottom.
It takes him longer than he would like to get dressed. His limbs don't seem to want to obey him, stiff after a month of captivity. Still, he manages it eventually, and he can't help breathing out a shaky sigh of relief when he's finally clothed. He rubs the fabric between his fingers–it feels very real, he'll give them that–and shudders.
It would be easier, he thinks, if he could just believe it was real. If he could listen to the part of his brain that is so ready to accept that he has truly escaped, that he's back in the Archives (out of the frying pan into the fire, his mind whispers). That the horrors of the past however-long he's spent in that museum are finally over.
It would be easier, if he could pretend he's actually safe.
But he can't.
It doesn't really matter, he thinks with bitter humor, whether this is Helen or Nikola playing tricks with his mind. He’s not going to stay here in their mocked-up version of the Archives, taking statements and pretending that everything is fine.
Whoever’s game he’s caught in, he's not going to give them the satisfaction of playing along.
There is a pair of shoes under the coat stand, exactly where he expects. He puts them on, wincing at the unpleasant sensation of the leather against his bare feet. The cardigan hanging on the stand is old and threadbare, the one he always kept in the office to combat the lack of proper heating. He can't help but feel a little better with its familiar weight on his shoulders.
Jon glances once more at the desk–at the tape recorder sitting innocently amongst the statements. On an impulse he's not sure he understands, he grabs it and puts it in his pocket.
Then, before he can lose his nerve, he opens the door and leaves his office behind.

A bouquet for you too! 😁

Does... does this mean I need to send 12 sentences!? (also, damn, why didn't I think of that...)
From the next chapter of Lessons in Domestication (though I'll put it under the cut because I'm v confident it's not everyone's cup of tea).
When he turned back to her, Helen’s eyes were ablaze and, while he did go to speak, to offer some sort of apology for his lack of action, she was quicker, leaning in to press her mouth rather firmly against his. A familiar crackle of electrical current slipped across his skin then, radiating out from the point at which their mouths met and filling him with a restless energy he knew there was only one cure to. Helen seemed to sense the need for more and raised her hand then, holding his cheek as her lips opened against his, teasing at his tongue with her own until Nikola found himself gasping into her mouth hungrily.
She tasted of tea and toast and as her tongue pressed against his Nikola raised his own shaking hand, placing the palm flat against her cheek. Helen sighed into their kiss, tilting her head into the contact and he felt her body move forwards, pressing closer to him.
A swell of bold audacity overcame him then and Nikola pressed forward, sweeping his free hand up to cup her head as the hand that had held her in place swept down, landing on the dip of her waist as if that was where it belonged. Helen made a soft little sound at the move, but given the way her chest seemed to arch towards him Nikola decided it was the right choice.
It was only when a small huff of frustration echoed from across the table that Nikola recalled the audience they had. He pulled back then, reluctant to let go of Helen entirely but mildly concerned she might slap at him for getting so carried away. It wasn’t so much that it would hurt, but he had the distinct feeling that they were perched on the edge of something rather spectacular and he’d rather not give her reason to turn her ire onto him as well.
Helen smiled softly at him, stroking at his cheek (when her hand had moved there he was no longer certain).
“Yes, yes,” James put in then, interrupting the moment with his usual lack of tact and Nikola found himself shooting a nasty glare at the other man, “lesson learned, darling: we shouldn’t tease.”

@tinknevertalks thanks for the tag :) I know you also tagged me on the WIP poll post but as I don't really have any fanfic WIPs I wasn't sure how to do that one. I did appreciate it though. I always get a warm awww when someone thinks enough of me to tag, so thank you.
Anyway!
Rules: Pick any ten of your fics, scroll roughly to the midpoint, pick a line (or three) and share it. Then tag ten people.
I think I'll do my last 10 posted on AO3? That seems reasonable. So in reverse order (most recently posted at #1)
1) Somewhere to Belong (Star Trek: Picard, Seven/Raffi)
“Insubordination.” Raffi snorted. “Picard does bring that out in people. Although really… Seven…” she sighed.
2) Time Will Tell (Sanctuary, James/John/Helen)
“I take it the two of you have finally decided to stop dancing around one another,” Helen noted dryly.
3) We Belong to the Future (The Librarians, Eve/Flynn)
“Thirty years we travelled, somewhere new every week. I barely noticed beyond the season change. I didn’t count the years. Well I suppose I did but not…” Charlene trailed off, shaking her head. “It’s all different. The world has changed around us, but we’re still the same.”
4) Odyssey: Future's Legacy (Sanctuary/Warehouse 13, James/John/Helen, Myka/HG, Artie/MacPherson)
“Hey, Artie,” Claudia answered. “Yeah, we’re almost done here, I think Fang-boy just found it.” Nikola twisted to glare at her. He accepted such indignities from the wolf-boy, as they traded such things, but really? And he had thought Claudia respected him. He stalked forward, aware that his demeanour was probably like that of an offended cat, Nigel used to roast him for it. Nikola didn’t usually think of Nigel much, he had been dead over six decades, but the case, centering around the griffins as it did, was conjuring up many old memories of Griffin. It was a shame he hadn’t lived to see his namesake.
5) Dancing on Broken Glass (Star Trek: Picard, Seven/Raffi)
Seven set her mouth in a firm line. It felt incongruous to keep dancing like there was nothing wrong, when suddenly everything felt wrong between them. The mood had changed from flirty to unhappy tension in the blink of an eye. Suddenly Seven realised that the tension wasn’t just stemming from them.
6) Celebrate the Day (Sanctuary)
Every Christmas after that for the next few years they’d built Lego decorations. It had been the tradition of their childhood. Helen had felt a pang the year they’d stopped. Henry had reached the age where he was old enough to start building anything he wanted for real, and Ashley had been so eager to grow up and leave toys behind her. Now the tradition was passed to the next generation.
7) Gentleman of Blood (Sanctuary, James/John/Helen)
“War is coming,” James commented, with terrifying certainty. Helen sighed. “I wish you would stop saying that, James.” James turned to look at her, his eyes flickering to John behind her, and then back to meet her eyes. “I wish it weren’t true, darling,” he said apologetically. “But Europe is a powder keg. It’s only a matter of time, and with these investments Worth stood to make a fortune when it happened.”
8) Focused Avoidance (Warehouse 13, Artie/MacPherson)
He’d tried warning Myka, he’d even referenced James directly, but she hadn’t seen the obvious parallel and he hadn’t elaborated. An agent had to trust their partner. Artie had trusted MacPherson with his very soul and had been burned - rather literally if you took into account the Phoenix artifact. Perhaps because of what had happened with James, Artie had picked up the sparks between Myka and the thrice-damned HG Wells almost from the start, almost certainly before anyone else bar Mrs Frederic of course.
9) The Tragic Tail (Sanctuary, Helen/James)
“It’s April 14th,” Helen murmured. That meant nothing to James but his gut clenched. It meant something to Helen and there was a catch in her voice, something that told him that very soon it would mean a lot to him.
10) It takes little effort to watch a man carry a load (Sanctuary, James/John)
James shook his head. “No. I’m quite sure John killed those poor women but the real question is why. Don’t you see, Nikola?” James pleaded. “There has to be a reason. John would never have done… that on his own. I will find out what happened, and I will save him from it, if it’s the last thing I do.”
I don't think I know 10 people well enough to tag sadly. So tagging @purlturtle, @sarcasticsciencefictionwriter, @rinari7, @enterprise-come-in and @ussjellyfish and of course anyone who wants to do it :)

Nikola and Abby, investigators AU.
Yay, thank you! So tempted to make this a paranormal (a la X-Files) investigator AU, but that was kind of Abby's job, so... (Also, this one just screamed Nikola's viewpoint, even though I now adore Abby's)

Nikola had made the mistake of dragging Abby along to stake out the house that may or may not have belonged to the former colleague of his girlfriend--a house they were not being paid to watch, but he had chosen to anyway, because the man was a scumbag--and had to listen to her lecture him about the legality of it.
He had probably taught her too well about the fine line between what private investigators were legally allowed to do and what was illegal, but it was too late to back out of that now, and he pointed out that she was now complicit in the illegal activity, whether she liked it or not.
Still, listening to the lecture that followed that was completely worth it when the scumbag in question came to their office the next day, screaming at Nikola about Helen and trying to hit him, only for Abby to take him down and grin up at Nikola once she had.
___
Nikola's small private investigator business thrived, mostly because he was a man without much of a private life beyond a busy girlfriend, and he enjoyed the chance to be paid to watch and judge people for a living.
Abby, however, had a much different opinion on Nikola's judgement, even though she was adept at following people and had fished more than one scumbag out of hiding to turn them over to the anger of family, friends, or the authorities.
Nikola usually set her to work on the cases that involved parents skipping out on child support payments, tracking down people that were missing, things like that.
Those cases were usually more boring and Nikola did tend to keep his young employee away from the more dangerous cases, such as the cheating spouses and the criminal cases they also assisted with.
At the end of the day or the times they were both in the office, Nikola would usually detail his judgement on the people they were sent to find or some of the things people wanted them to do.
Finding stolen pets--which was surprisingly common--wasn't really what private investigators were for and Nikola flat out refused to look for spouses or girlfriends that had 'gone missing' after a history of domestic violence when the partner requested it.
Nikola expressed his opinions over that quite loudly, along with everything else, and Abby pointed out that they weren't supposed to judge, they were just supposed to do the job.
How she was able to stay so bright and bubbly was beyond Nikola, but he had also done his best to protect that and keep her that way, even when faced with the things that they saw.
Now, however, Nikola was trying hard to tune out Abby's lecturing as they sat in his car outside the house of his girlfriend's former colleague.
He had neither confirmed nor denied what they were doing, but he was still being treated to the lecture, and he was starting to think that maybe he had taught her a little too well.
"You know, if we're not being paid, this is stalking. Stalking, Nikola. You do know we can be arrested for that. Right? Of course you do, but you don't care."
"And you're now complicit in it, so you might as well stop droning on about it." Nikola said, looking at her.
Abby wiggled forward in her seat, bracing her hands on the console to look Nikola earnestly in the eyes.
"Did Helen ask you to do this?"
"She would never ask me to do anything, even when it comes to the tiny weasel that's been harassing her at work because she reported him for medical misconduct in his clinical trials."
"So we're doing this illegally and against your girlfriend's wishes."
Nikola sighed, propping his chin on his hand as he stared out the window at the house that had a light shining in a single window.
"Just saying." Abby said, shifting back in her seat. "This is completely against both professional and personal morals."
"Then why don't I pay for a cab for you?" Nikola asked grouchily.
"Oh, I didn't say I wanted to leave."
He looked at Abby and she was staring at him with slightly wide eyes.
"Really."
"Really. He threatened Helen. I'm not going anywhere."
"Huh."
"And someone needs to keep you in line."
Abby poked his shoulder when she spoke, grinning at him. Nikola had to work hard to make sure that he didn't smile back at her. He had an image to maintain and showing even a shred of affection for Abby would ruin that image.
Worth, the man in question, was staying up in that one room incredibly late, and the hours were slowly trickling by.
Abby was the one that started playing games and Nikola pretended to be grudging in agreeing, but he was bored and she was creative, and he was starting to see how she occupied herself when she was on stake outs by herself.
"What are you hoping to achieve by staking out this Worth guy anyway?" Abby asked as she scrolled through horoscopes on her phone for her latest idea.
"Something that will keep him away from Helen."
Nikola wasn't sure himself, but he had to try something. Even if it meant doing something illegal.
However, the night proved fruitless, and Nikola was thinking that maybe Abby had a point when he drove her home for the night, conceding that they both needed sleep and that there wasn't much else he could do at the moment.
In the morning, both Nikola and Abby were in the office as Nikola sorted across the new cases that Abby had put on his desk, deciding which ones he would toss her way and which ones he would take himself.
He heard the door open and glanced through his office door to see the man he had been staking out last night, Adam Worth, come marching in, breezing past Abby who was on the phone.
"Sir, wait, you can't just--" Abby started, but Worth ignored her.
Nikola wondered how the hell Worth had known to come here, but supposed they must have been seen and that he was smart enough to deduct what had happened, considering that they had met once or twice.
"So the bitch sent you after me?!" he snarled at Nikola.
Nikola curled his lip.
"I have no idea what you're talking about." he said smoothly.
"Don't lie to me! Helen wants to intimidate me into backing down!"
Nikola did--briefly--attempt to calm the man down as he kept screaming at him and making even more threats against Helen.
Nikola took it until Worth tried to hit him and then slammed him into the door.
Before Nikola could react, there was a blur of motion and Abby came flying out of no way, tackling Worth to the ground and pinning him there.
"Huh. Good job."
Nikola adjusted his tie, arching an eyebrow at Abby as she straddled Worth, pulling his arms behind his back as the little man spewed profanities.
Abby looked up at him. Instead of lecturing him again, like he had expected, she grinned.
Nikola returned it.

Gertrude and the cat-avatars, pt 4
Summary: The old-cat-crew has finally made their home at Gertrude. There's some darkness, worms and ants involved
Warning: Some very mild Corruption content (nothing in detail)
A/N: Heyyy it's been awhile, huh? Yeah, so I had trouble actually getting these four written down, which is why there's some bonus content and like.... 10 days of nothing.
Thanks to @dcartcorner for getting me to actually finish this thing
As always, not beta read, just me, the document and 3 hours of break between lessons...
Pt 1, Simon, Peter, Elias and Mike / Pt 2, Michael and Helen Distortion, Agnes / Pt 3, Annabelle, Jude, Oliver / Pt 4, You're here! / Pt 5, Jon, Martin, Sasha, Tim / Pt 6, Melanie, Daisy, Basira, Georgie / Pt 7, Jared, Gerry, Nikola / Bonus, a visit to the vet / Halloween bonus!
Simon really had a bad habit of getting older cats to Gertrude’s doorstep. Was it just because she was old? She had no real idea but there she was. In front of an older cat that Simon was proudly standing right next to. The cat was black, the first time she looked at him it felt like watching the void. The eyes watching her were rather dark too. She had named him Maxwell and moved on. Knowing she would not get rid of him easily if Simon had any say in it and Simon had a lot to say.
She got a similar cat two years later. She had been mostly lurking around. Gertrude had first seen her when Maxwell went out on a walk, she had looked outside and seen two nearly identical cats. Though the new one seemed to have a bit more fur on than Maxwell did. Afterwards the cat would spend her time in Gertrude's garden. Causing her to nearly trip over the cat on the darker nights. In the end she let the cat in. Deciding it would be better than harming the cat due to the dark nights approaching. Gertrude had named her Manuela. It fit well enough with Maxwell.
Despite them both being rather calm Gertrude tried her best to never enter whatever room they were in. Sometimes the room would go completely dark, no matter how many lights she had on. It never lasted for long, but Gertrude really preferred having sight.
The last of the older cats that had been making their home in Gertrude’s home was a rather odd one. Though how someone could be more odd than Simon she did not know. (A thought she would later regret ever thinking.) He was similar to Simon in looks, though he was more brown than grey and also bigger than Simon’s tiny body. There was an ill-fitting collar though it did not indicate a name or previous owner. By the smell of him it seemed like he had been alone for a while.
His name was John and would be healthy according to the veterinarian. She was given some medicine to give the cat and hopefully with a better bath John would stop smelling like he was dying.
Gertrude ended up with a similar cat. Which was not really ideal as John would bring with ants for her to kill. Similar to him, the new one would bring in worms. Which was why Gertrude had started to hate when it rained, it just meant that the cat would run outside and bring back as many worms as she possibly could.
The cat was grey with black spots on her body. Most of the time she would spend time outside, mostly in Gertrude’s garden. Something that was not great as she tried to at least take some care of it. Sometimes the cat would wander inside, putting a worm in a flowerpot or as a horrible present. The cat had gotten the name Jane. Figuring out that she probably was the owner of the cat by now.
She was not sure if bringing worms was better than bringing birds or mice to her home.

Imma be cheeky: When The Blurred Line Breaks and Fobwatch And a Sapphire Stuffed Choker. (I need to know how they end. XD)
*chuckling* I suppose that's fair. I'll give you some hints. ;3 They are both still on my "these will haunt me until I finish the damn things, and I do not consider them abandoned" list. But they are also on my "being very obstinate about the next part, in particular" list, too.
When the Blurred Line Breaks
As you've noted, Helen seems inclined to wake up on the wrong side of the bed. She's certainly been vulnerable in a way she's not used to, not with Nikola, and I don't think either of them know how to navigate that very well. Emotional, snappish conversations, hard to write.
Of course, this piece was always intended to slot into canon, to take them more or less to where we find them in S1 of the actual show. Nikola's borderline antagonism, Helen's wary, exasperated tolerance that turns to something like horror when faced with what he's been up to. So they're not going to end in a good place, I'm afraid, and I think knowing that is also part of what's blocking me from writing the rest, because there's very little that's fun about the rest.
Irritable early morning, a slow, torturous, snowy drive up to the safehouse, and a fraught parting: Nikola asking Helen if she won't consider staying, because he wants her to, and imagine what they could do, just the two of them together with peace and time and a lab, and they just shared something and he can't not ask knowing he likely won't see her for goodness-knows-how-long... Helen feeling a little betrayed that he would ask that in the first place, putting his own selfish desires first, despite knowing what her work means to her... it's perhaps bittersweet, but mostly bitter, in the end. They'll need those years in the interim to reflect a little and mellow out. Helen realizing she was perhaps a little unfair to him, emotionally; Nikola making the extremely misguided decision to impress her with The Monsters and propose a project she certainly can't refuse.(Spoiler alert: she definitely will. xD)
A Fobwatch and a Sapphire-Studded Choker
So, the next chapter is, broadly speaking, a whole fuckton of worldbuilding. In particular, living conditions and the nuances of the vampire society public transportation system, and also Rose and J'aen settling into their new place. The further alienation of J'aen having to give/set "permissions" for Rose for everything. The lovely awkwardness of settling into bed and cuddling with/being cuddled by someone who is... well. Everything J'aen is to Rose. >:3
Obviously the beginning is... intense. Time is pretty dilated, and I'm not quite sure how to transition it from that almost minute-by-minute framing, with small chapter "jumps" in between, to a more measured thing that will likely be necessary for the longer time frame (of at least a few weeks) that I'd envisioned this story taking place over the course of.
J'aen actually works for the big tech company that creates and manufactures those lovely oppressive scanners. So that's gonna be a fun conflict. Rose, meanwhile, more or less left to her own devices as a stay-at-home "bondmate," makes contact with the InRiCol underground - in part because that's what she believes in, in part because that's the only way she sees any possibility of getting the fobwatch back.
Rose has a fuckton to balance, between her obvious personal mission with the fobwatch, her dealings with the InRiCol while trying to stay under the radar, not arousing J'aen's suspicions, and also negotiating the boundaries of her status as "bondmate" and what seems to be expected of her. (And, hrm, maybe she's not actually all that averse to it... But she and the Doctor don't have that kind of relationship. But she also really needs to keep up this charade to be able to get the Doctor back. And she cares about J'aen, too, this gorgeous woman who obviously adores her, and the continued distance from her bondmate for no reason Rose can honestly give her is obviously weighing on her, too...)
I don't really want to spoil the ending, because I do intend to finish it myself! (...someday.) I can assure you that an eventual happy ending is planned. Hopefully this is enough fodder to let your imagination run wild in the meantime. ;3

Liveblogging TMA - Season 3 - MAG 100-105
"I saw a ghost."
I GUESS YOU HAD TO BE THERE :
... I hate this story.
It really went : Hey, we know Jon has been kidnapped by a mannequin that wants to take his skin and wear it, but it is also the perfect time to see the kind of statements that usually happen when he isn't here, in all kinds of very awkward and annoying ways !
I just.
I am so done.
I am actually laughing at this, it's just so ... Typical.
No wonder the Institute is a joke, if this is the kind of statements that got leaked to the public in 1999.
Ok, fine, more of The Devastation, the one Maxwell worships told through the eyes of a conspiracy theorist (to whom Tim really didn't have the patience for), a Spiral (he was late for dinner, he couldn't just stay in the spiral !) and the Spiders. Also, cameo of a Lukas, coming in with a lot of static. If we needed any more proof that the family was spooky, that would be it, I guess.
I don't think Brian is surviving long enough to give a coherent statement. RIP.
God, please tell me the next episode we'll get Jon back. This episode just explained SO much about season 1 if this is the kind of statements the man was used to for non supernatural stuff. They were written, of course, but well.
I can only imagine that they were barely any more coherent.
ANOTHER TWIST :
"The Eye watches, and the Stranger conceals, but me… I lie, Archivist. I am the throat of delusion incarnate. They can’t hide you from me."
At this point, I am genuinely surprised that Jon isn't just absolutely traumatized by doors.
Well. I guess this was the end of Michael. Despite all his claims of not having an identity and such, he sounded quite touched by his past with Michael and the Distortion. Touched enough that Helen managed to kill him, in a way, and take his place.
Guess that the best liars are the ones able to fool themselves.
Helen had drawn a map too, hadn't she ? In "The New Door".
That's why she managed to do what Michael did. And just like him, I don't think she knows what she was doing all this time. I really hope that we'll get a statement from this version of The Distortion.
Still, I am kind of sad that she isn't anymore. Though it is nice that this version of The Distortion is willing to help Jon, I guess ? I doubt that it is to stay that way, considering everything, but it was good.
Anyway, anyone confused by the tapes ? Because I am. Because it isn't Elias that controls them, but everyone seems to assume that it is the case, for some reason ? Like, Nikolas is just talking into the recorder, expecting Elias to be on the other receiving end.
Michael's story fucking hurt me though. It's just. I know that Gertrude was a big "the end justifies the means" kind of woman, and I even kind of get it, but man am I glad that Jonathan isn't this kind of person, and that he cares about his people.
I wonder what makes of Jonathan a better Archivist than her. And if it is actually a good thing, you know ?
NESTING INSTINCT :
"Yeah. I can’t imagine what it must feel like to be defenceless."
... Why is everyone so eager to blame Jon for everything ?
Like, I love my girl Melanie, but also, I'd really rather she and Tim stopped blaming Jon when he is just as much, if not an even bigger, victim as they are. He didn't ask for any of it, and he can't exactly see in the future (yet?), and he is apparently losing his humanity to forces outside of his control, without any say in anything.
I do get where they're coming from, but I also want to scream.
Elias is as infuriating as ever, and I swear to god, he better die someday.
Finally more info on the Unknowing, and I don't really like the sound of it, but it is the apocalypse, so I guess it makes sense ?
Gerard was actively working with Gertrude, apparently ? And Jon just ... Guessed it out of nowhere because he can just do that now, as well as read other languages, which is ... Worrying.
I mean, really fucking cool as fuck, obviously, and I also really want him to have more powers, but also, he really wants to be human and stay that way, so not only is this heartbreaking, but since I trust Elias fuck all, how thrilled he sounds at that makes me anxious.
Is anything going to happen to Jon ? Is he grooming him to be a sacrifice of some sort ?
Elias sounds honnest enough when he says that he wants to stop the Unknowing, but you can't tell me that only The Stranger has an apocalypse, right ? So what about the others ?
The french was cute though, and not as bad as I thought it would be when I saw he would speak french. Gotta say, I braced myself on this one, but it was pretty decent, actually. Good for him.
Melanie is great as usual, but also ... More and more violent and angry, it seems ? Which is fair, obviously, but this story gave me trust issues, and I just see everything as death flags now.
Call me The Archivist, the way I am worried that behind the actions of everyone is a death that is meant to crush me, specifically.
Speaking of worrying deaths, Martin broke my heart, but when does he not ? He was worried for Jon, damn it. And then Jon makes a joke about it, despite having been held captive for a month.
Someone needs to give this man more care for his own safety, it borderline feels like apathy now.
Good to know the rest of the Institute avoids the Archives though. They really should, to be honnest. I'm with Tim on this one, better be kept away for good.
God, I hope Georgie doesn't get caught too.
Oh, and there's a beetle wife now. It was cute. People really should just let others marry who they want, ffs, even eldritch beings of untold filth.
Anyway ! Guess we know what Not-Sasha was doing at the wax museum. Wonder how long our favourite lunatic will connect the dots.
CRUELTY FREE :
"What are you?!"
Pigs, dead ends and Jon blackmailing people. On one hand, I am so proud I feel like Elias, but on the other, I am worried for him. Do we actually want him to get better at using the powers of The Eye ?
Let's just hope that whatever they're plotting to get Elias will actually work. I'd be much more satisfied if the guy was to simply die, but I guess not everyone is up for murder yet ?
Which is. You know. Fair.
SNEAK PREVIEW :
"Then I guess I’ll see you in hell."
Tim's trauma, as well as the death flags he raises.
Oh, he is so not going to survive past this season, is he ?
We finally got Tim's story and I am worried, because he never wanted any of this and history is just repeating itself at this point. God, does he even have anyone left to lose to The Stranger before it takes him ?
Of course not. Even the friends he had somehow managed to make ended up neck deep in all that supernatural bullshit.
I miss Joe Spooky man. He was cute.
TOTAL WAR :
"How can unspeakable carnage become so tired and repetitive?"
Oh great. More war statements.
And I mean that unironically, those are somehow always the most beautiful ? You know, when compared to all the pain, and slaughter and violence.
It is a nice contrast.
Anyway, Jonathan went on a world trip in the steps of Gertrude, and found himself in China, where he actaully can understand other languages and not just read it in the statements.
I wonder if he can make himself understood the same way, or if Xiao Ling just understood what he was saying because she speaks english too. Considering Jonathan didn't even notice she wasn't talking english with him by the end, it makes sense if he could somehow.
Onto the statement itself, was the concept this time The End, I wonder. Doesn't sound like it. Surely there are more concepts born out of the fears of humankind that touches upon the concept of death, right ? And they all must interact sdifferently with it.
Well, that is if it's how it works, anyway. Could be that they existed forever and human's fear were shaped after them ?
Why only human's though ? Like, why not a mosquitoe or something ?
Imagine, The Clapping, the concept of being smashed by a humongous hands reaching out of nowhere.
Brr.
Anyway, next is America !
Wonder if we'll get more werewolves when there.
The quote of the post will be :
"I have nothing left, except to hope that what remains of my own life is neither long nor memorable."
End Liveblogging.

If your pets were characters of your fandom(s), which would they be?
We spent five seconds thinking about Sanctuary characters with my gf and may I present you, from left to right - Alphonse/Henry, Maud/Helen and Patate/Nikola.
I'll let you admire these cuties and I'll explain under ⬇️
Tumblr media
Patate/Nikola: a loveable jerk. Always annoyed, complains a lot. Will absolutely ransack your house. Doesn't seem to feel any pain. Attention seeker and very vocal drama queen that will definitely go to an empty room and cry about how lonely it is to be in an empty room. Evil genius, knows exactly what will trigger you. Will comment on anything he's doing, loudly. In love with Maud/Helen but will still stick his paws in her body when she's sleeping, likes to sleep on her, revels in her getting so annoyed that she bites him. Wants to be kissed a lot.
Also, he likes to attack Alphonse/Henry and teach him some bad behavior.
Alphonse/Henry: first, he's an absolute cutie. Rescued when he was small, very food motivated, kind of scared all the time. He's a victim but tough. He's got huge eyes that will melt your heart. Very scared of his own strength, will definitely but gently put his teeth to your hand when you've annoyed him and look at you with a scared look that says "don't make me bite you". Plays tough but needs hugs. Likes to get his head licked by Maud/Helen and secretly glad to have Patate/Nikola around to play.
He is the sweetest.
Maud/Helen: Half unphazed, half unimpressed. Surrounded by adolescents. Will absolutely judge you but still loves you unconditionally. Always there to support you when you're sick, or doing yoga. Exasperated by her housemates, won't move a paw when they fight, except if it gets violent. Small but fierce. Gorgeous queen of the house. Loves to run alone after things she's the only one to see. Will bit the crap out of anyone that threatens her. Likes to play like a wild girl but only when she cannot be seen by the two others, otherwise she'll sit back and quietly judge them while they jump for the feathers.
Watches out for Alphonse/Henry and Patate/Nikola but will occasionally bite their butts. Expects them to provide her with food. Harassed by Patate/Nikola but secretly loves him (I mean, she does settle next to him for a nap when he is sleeping).

Self-tagged from @bleachbleachbleach
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
Only three – most of my ff is in Finnish and online elsewhere
2) What's your total AO3 word count?
91,889
W00t w00t the next couple biweekly updates will get me above 100 k!
3) What fandoms do you write for?
I have only Bleach fic in AO3, but I've also written Black Lagoon, Daria, Doctor Who, Dragonlance, House M.D., Raid (a Finnish crime drama/thriller), Sanctuary, Supernatural and Stargate Atlantis
4) Top 5 fics by kudos?
All Her Parts (13 kudos at the moment), Kim’s game (6) and At one evening in a convenience store (4)
Interestingly, the 5/10 chapters of All Her Parts has also more hits than the 19 chapters of Kim’s game. Maybe the title of Kim’s game was unfortunate - It isn’t an OC story, the name refers to the memory game played in Kipling’s novel Kim)
5) Do you respond to comments?
Yes! They are few and far between, but I love them and I love responding.
6) What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I have quite a few angsty or unhappy endings in my stories but perhaps Salakatselijan päiväkirja (Diary of a Stalker, the content only in Finnish) or Etsin vain ehdotonta rakkautta (I was only searching for unconditional love, also the content only in Finnish) might be at a tie.
Diary of a Stalker is a Bleach AU where Bya mourns for Hisana and kinda starts to stalk Rukia, who he doesn’t know is Hisana’s sister. I was only searching for unconditional love is a House M.D. fic of Cuddy and Rachel and their mother-daughter relationship.
7) What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Uuf do I have happy endings…? I have plenty non-sad or ambiguous endings but I guess not that many I’d call happy. Kim’s game actually ranks high in here imo?
8) Do you get hate on fics?
I’ve never gotten any hate comments for some reason.
9) Do you write smut?
No. Tried it once, didn’t like it. I rarely write sex in general, and when I do, it tends to be strictly non-explicit.
Nothing wrong with smut, it just isn’t my thing to read or write. Unless things get weird enough, then I’m happy to read. With enough weird in the mix, it stops being about sex even when genitalia is at use. Then I'm on board again.
10) Do you write crossovers?
Not really. I find that it’s rare that different pieces fit together in a way I find satisfying. The one and only x-over I’ve written is a DW+Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy humor piece.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Only if you count me doing translation/rewrite of my own fic
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. But I’d like to – there is sooo much great ideas and such with powerful scenes and fun plots. I’d love to be the person who adds description of various shit without having to deal with characterization and whatnot. But with this role and me not operating in my native language it has an extra layer of working not great.
14) What's your all-time favorite ship?
My OPT of all-time is Raistlin+Dalamar, where I’m using the + to indicate it’s not romantic or sexual but not platonic in “just friends” or "practically family" way.
15) What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
Almost all I seriously plan to finish, but I’m going to pick the story with a working title of Ihmeiden kaupunki (City of Wonder). It's a Sanctuary fic where a bunch of women, Helen and Ashley among them, are sent to another planet to spread human life to space. It’s supposed to be women only (resource use & lack of artificial wombs) but Nikola uses his connections and gets in.
16) What are your writing strengths?
Persistence. If I see enough reason to write something, and if I judge that I want to write it, then I’ll fucking write it. It may take a long time, but I’ll write it.
I’d like to think that I’m good at writing description but that’s for my readers to judge.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
The snail speed I proceed, lol.
I’m actually not good at making plot. It’s difficult for me to plan the scenes and decide what’s going to happen next, and what kind of feeling the scenes should carry.
18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?
I avoid it. If the reader should understand the dialogue, then it must be “translated” to the reader for them to do so.
If the reader isn’t supposed to understand it, why bother to write lines that won’t make any sense to the reader? Then what it the reader understands it, is it going to spoil something, or does the reader find themselves reading something utterly irrelevant?
I can imagine there are some tricks that can be done with this but it’s a niche use.
19) First fandom you wrote for?
I can’t remember
20) Favorite fic you've ever written?
An unfinished The Walking Dead piece with a working title tkei. The title is probably an abbreviation of something but I can’t remember what. But the writing! I love the way I was able to write it! When I read it, I’m making myself happy and immersed in the story instead of wanting to alter phrasing here and there.
It’s an AU where the zombies never came and no found families form. After Rick wakes up from the come and find Lori and Shane banging, he is forced to move to Daryl’s place (Merle is in prison, Daryl can’t pay the bills to keep the lights on, and Rick can’t afford to rent). Everyone is deeply unhappy and lonely.
