so with the chandrayaan 3 thing happening, an anecdote related to that
my mother was asking my twin about why it was such a big deal if india was the 4th country on the moon. and then he started to explain how the satellite has landed on the moon's south pole.
my mom: ....so what happened to the other satellites my twin: on the north pole my mom: and so the south pole is a huge deal because??? my twin: because it's more difficult to get there
and then like. the two of us looked at each other. my twin realised his mistake the moment he spotted me grinning at him.
OF COURSE i wouldn't let this one slide
so i immediately went "why is it difficult? is it because they have to hang off the edge of the moon because it's in the south pole?"
and like. the look on his fucking FACE. he was HORRIFIED. HE'S SO EASY TO READ AKHSDKDFJH
and then i continued "so it must be difficult being an australian right?? they probably hang off the earth down there in the south"
my twin is so fucking easy to rile up sometimes
BESTIE I AM SOBBING LEAVE THAT POOR BOY ALONE (annihilate him <3)
My brother and i were also discussing the chandrayaan and he also told me about the whole "difficult to get there" thing and then he was like "let the rover explore the moon for a while! Everyone is pressurizing ISRO by blowing it out of proportion" which is like kinda true but also let them celebrate man ajbdhdbdhdb it IS a huge deal after all

An Indigo flight was flying from Chennai to Dhaka. Coincidentally, it was passing over SrihariKota at the time of launch of Chandrayan-3. The pilot announced that the passengers can be the witness of the historic event, launch of Chandrayan-3. A passenger at a window seat recorded a video on his mobile and it is the first ever amature video of a space craft from space. The video has been twitted by Dr P V Venkitakrishnan, Director (retired), ISRO Materials and Rocket Manufacturing. (Actually speaking, the airspace around SrihariKota should have been a no fly zone at the time of launch and the aeroplane was well outside the no fly zone) A wonderful caption has been suggested by a twitter user *When Aviation Meets Astronomy*

Messier 45: The Daughters of Atlas and Pleione Hurtling through a cosmic dust cloud a mere 400 light-years away, the lovely Pleiades or Seven Sisters open star cluster is well-known for its striking blue reflection nebulae. It lies in the night sky toward the constellation Taurus and the Orion Arm of our Milky Way galaxy. The sister stars are not related to the dusty cloud though. They just happen to be passing through the same region of space. Known since antiquity as a compact grouping of stars, Galileo first sketched the star cluster viewed through his telescope with stars too faint to be seen by eye. Charles Messier recorded the position of the cluster as the 45th entry in his famous catalog of things which are not comets. In Greek myth, the Pleiades were seven daughters of the astronomical titan Atlas and sea-nymph Pleione. Their parents names are included in the cluster's nine brightest stars. This well-processed, color-calibrated telescopic image features pin-point stars and detailed filaments of interstellar dust captured in over 9 hours of exposure. It spans more than 20 light-years across the Pleiades star cluster. Vikram Sarabhai was an incredible Indian scientist and visionary. Sarabhai is often referred to as the "Father of the Indian Space Program." Born on August 12, 1919, in Ahmedabad, India, he made significant contributions to the fields of space research and atomic energy.
Sarabhai played a pivotal role in establishing the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in 1969, which has since become one of the leading space agencies in the world. Under his leadership, ISRO successfully launched India's first satellite, Aryabhata, in 1975.
Apart from his contributions to space research, Sarabhai was also passionate about promoting science education and research in India. He founded several institutions, including the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) and the Ahmedabad Textile Industry's Research Association (ATIRA).
Sarabhai's vision and dedication to scientific research and space exploration have had a profound impact on India's technological advancements. His efforts paved the way for future space missions and inspired generations of scientists and engineers in India.
Sadly, Vikram Sarabhai passed away on December 30, 1971, at the age of 52. However, his legacy lives on through the achievements of ISRO and the numerous scientific institutions he established. His contributions continue to shape India's space program and inspire the pursuit of scientific excellence.

DMK says BJP's 'torn slipper' remark an 'insult' to anti-Hindi agitation
The DMK said that the Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai's criticism of its anti-Hindi agitation, which he likened to an "old, worn-out slipper", was an "insult to the martyrs" who fought for the state language.
Tumblr media
During a campaign event on Saturday, Annamalai said, "People of Sriperambudur should understand that someone is still talking about what was said in 1980. Hindi-Sanskrit, North-South, this-that. They still haven’t thrown away such old, torn slippers. This is DMK."
Hitting out the BJP state chief's remark, DMK spokesperson Saravanan said, "He insulted the martyrs of the language war. Tamil Nadu has a great history of waging a war against Hindi imposition."
He also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on Annamalai's remarks.
"Why hasn't PM Modi condemned it? Annamalai has compared it (anti-Hindi agitation) to torn sandals. This is the respect people have for Tamil Nadu."
Meanwhile, the AIADMK said Annamalai was "foolish" to make such a statement.
“Insulting this (anti-Hindi agitation) only shows his character. Let me ask Annamalai why those who studied Hindi are coming to work here. But those who studied Tamil and English are going abroad or to Isro (Indian Space Research Organisation) and have become great doctors too. I can only see Annamalai’s words to be foolish," AIADMK MLA Sellur Raju said.
The language war has always played an important role in vote bank politics in Tamil Nadu.
The DMK's active role in anti-Hindi agitation in 1965 had led the party to win elections in the state.

India’s First Reusable Launch Vehicle, ‘Pushpak’, Successfully Lands by ISRO
On Friday, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) achieved a successful landing mission for its Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) named ‘Pushpak' from the Aeronautical Test Range (ATR) situated in Challakere near Chitradurga, Karnataka. ISRO chairman S. Somanath and other senior officials graced the launch site with their presence.
“Once again, ISRO demonstrates its precision! The winged vehicle, Pushpak (RLV-TD), autonomously landed with accuracy on the runway after release from an off-nominal position,” stated the space organization on X.
Pushpak's launch represents India's ambitious endeavor to enhance affordability and sustainability in space access.“Pushpak was hoisted by an Indian Air Force Chinook helicopter and released from an altitude of 4.5 km. Upon release, at a distance of 4 km from the runway, Pushpak autonomously navigated towards the runway while making cross-range corrections. It executed a precise landing on the runway, utilizing its brake parachute, landing gear brakes, and nose wheel steering system,” stated ISRO.
The design of the Pushpak RLV encompasses an all-rocket, fully reusable single-stage-to-orbit (SSTO) vehicle, integrating key elements inspired by the X-33 advanced technology demonstrator, the X-34 testbed technology demonstrator, and the upgraded DC-XA flight demonstrator.
The launch signifies the third flight of Pushpak, succeeding a series of tests focused on refining its robotic landing abilities amidst progressively challenging scenarios.
Having been in development for more than ten years, the project achieved a significant milestone in April of last year, when the vehicle showcased its autonomous landing capabilities following its release from an Indian Air Force Chinook helicopter. This marked a significant advancement for the Pushpak RLV, advancing its progress towards attaining orbital re-entry capabilities.
Named in honor of the mythical ‘Pushpak Viman' from the Ramayana, Isro's contemporary aircraft embodies themes of prosperity and innovation.
The winged technology demonstrator RLV has been designed to serve as a flying test platform for the assessment of multiple technologies, including hypersonic flight, autonomous landing, and powered cruise flight.
With an investment surpassing Rs 100 crore, the project not only highlights India's technological expertise but also lays the groundwork for future initiatives, including the ambitious endeavor to establish the Bhartiya Antariksha Station by 2035.
Prime Minister’s Visit: Briefing on Pushpak’s Development
