watching Hitoshi Ozawa's The Clan's Heir Is A Trans Woman and like obviously this is a low budget production but my god, it's funny. like i am just fucking cackling through this entire fucking movie, even its trans jokes are so fucking good. genuinely having a fucking blast right now.

also, so far, it is pretty smart at navigating surprisingly complex topics and doing it in a way that doesn't undercut the seriousness of the situation while also not feeling gratuitous when it uses a slur, like, it's just really well done on a script level.

god, i had forgotten movies could make you feel like this. a flawed masterpiece. so close to being one of the greatest movies of our time. honestly way funnier than it has any right to be (even its one trans joke is good!), and way more painful too. trans-ness not as a weakness, but as a strength. better at depicting trans struggle, and actually saying something with it, than like every other trans character i've ever seen in any media. one of the most fulfilling and soul-enriching experiences i've had in quite a while. if only it didn't fumble one choice in the ending... PLEASE go watch this. it's a crime this movie isn't more known, bc it's like. quintessential trans media imo.
