Our most esteemed followers...the time has come for us to formally announce the surprise we Mods have been sitting on for quite some time...the event that those who passed our Halloween trivia test know as “the event that shall not be named!”

This year, HogwartsWelcomesYou is proud to announce we’ll be hosting our very own online Yule Ball!

This is #HogwartsWelcomesYule!

Starting today, November 1st, you will be able to “ask” Tumblr friends to the Ball, if you so wish. Just write a post tagging the person you want to ask to the Ball, and make sure you tag your post #HogwartsWelcomesYule to help promote the event, and you can even indicate us too in the body of your post at @hogwartswelcomesyou if you want!

You can also, starting today, start putting together and posting your Yule Ball ensembles. You may either take a picture or make gifs of yourself in your "dress robes”, or make up Polyvore collages or edits of it, and then either tag us (#HogwartsWelcomesYule) or submit it to our Owl Post so that we can post them! Even we Mods might be adding our own!

On Christmas Day, December 25th, we will be posting a special edition Yule Ball playlist for you, our dear followers, as well as announcing Tumblr Awards to the best Yule Ball ensembles submitted to us. There will be different categories for these Awards, including Best House Pride, Best Edit, Best Photo, Best Couple, and so on.

We are all super stoked about this event, and we think it’ll be a lot of fun! We look forward to your participation!!

My outfit for the Yule Ball, hosted by @hogwartswelcomesyou

My inspiration was mostly the fashion from the Victorian era/Pride and Prejudice. The colour palette was chosen because I saw this almost complete outfit and saw these rose gold accents.

Finally got around to taking a picture of my dress robes for #hogwartswelcomesyule, the online Yule Ball that the other mods and I are hosting at our Harry Potter blog @hogwartswelcomesyou! This look is a Disneybound, inspired by Cinderella! (When I first bought this dress from the thrift store, my friend and date @thefirststarinthesky said it was very Cinderella-ish, and after doing this, I’d say she was right!! I also hope to use this dress for an Elsa Disneybound in the future.) I took off my glasses for the picture because the lighting in the room kept giving me lens flare, but don’t expect to see that in any other Disneybound pictures of me you might look up...I am practically blind without my glasses, and I can’t wear contacts.

First things first, we must thank all of our amazing followers who participated in our online Yule Ball, #HogwartsWelcomesYule, asking each other “to the ball,” submitting dress robes, and spreading the word about our blog during these last two months! Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

The time has come, of course, for us to announce our Tumblr awards for best Yule Ball submissions! It was a little difficult to pick winners when we got such lovely responses, but we promised awards, and so winners there must be. But rest assured, we were charmed by each new one we received in our inbox!

Yule Ball

So, @hogwartswelcomesyou is throwing a Yule Ball on December 25th- aka, CHRISTMAS! I suppose it’s time for me to ask someone... @theconfusedhufflepuff will you go with me to the ball?

This is my Yule Ball outfit (of course i have matching underwear, because that is essential for a properly complete outfit). I don’t know if you could tell, but i’m in Slytherin. 😂 the outfit was actually a lot of fun to make!! I don’t have a partner for the ball, but that’s cool. I can rock this on my own ✌

LOVE IT! Those shoes are amazing!

If you don’t have a partner, why not take Digby to the ball? He’s looking for people to sneak him food off the tables, and I’m sure he’d happily dance with you for a couple minute and give you a kiss, if you wish?
