- no speculation or theories around drug use, more specifically around weight loss/austin looking skinnier/looking like he lost weight etc. that veers into gossip i think is crossing a line- and i have personal trauma surrounding addiction that makes speculating about things like that triggering. this applies to presley gerber (kaia’s brother) and the presleys (lisa marie included)- not just austin.

- no sexual assault or abuse speculation/theories. this is a hard rule and i will block anons that break it. if anyone tied to anybody/anything i talk about here has public accusations made against them i will post about it- i promise.

- i know that austin’s publicist (the redhead, kate) can be a contentious topic on twitter but she is not a public figure and i’m not comfortable digging into her body language/how she acts with austin at events/etc. she as a topic itself isn’t banned completely (it’s me and my tree paine 2.0/ginger publicist support group jokes against the world!!) but just keep ^ that in mind when sending stuff about her.

Why has Mike Connolly not been cracked before? ... Mike Connolly is not easily pigeonholed into today's rigidly defined, black-and-white gay categories. If he was careful not to flaunt or write publicly about his sexual orientation, as proscribed by Hollywood protocol, he was candid in other ways about where his sexual interests lay. He lived openly with his partner, Joseph Russell Zappia, and put Zappia on his payroll as his legman. Everyone in Hollywood knew what his situation was. because like every gossip blog on earth they will sometimes be wrong. i never said every waking thing they've posted is right. there are times i have a feeling they're dead wrong lol mostly with taylor swift stuff bc her circle does not really have blabbermouths, she's notoriously paranoid about exactly that. can you link me to what she's said about backgrid though? i don't remember when she talked about it.

but the truth is the truth. it's literally just an agency/quasi-market place for people to sell their photos through. there are some "backgrid" photos that are very obviously taken on some randos phone and sent to bg to make a quick buck (the example i'm thinking of here is of harper and finley which made me feel really gross because they're just kids. i would be 0% surprised if it was another teenager too). no different than image direct, splash, mega, grosby group etc. they're just the most popular (even though they don't have the best quality haha that's splash!).

Before one delves into [Mike] Connolly's wellsprings of intrigue and scuttlebutt, a fourth rule must be given its due: Journalism is not a queer profession and neither may your partner work in a queer profession. Connolly's partner, Joseph Russell Zappia, had owned and operated a beauty salon in Westwood during his first eight years in Hollywood. Because of Connolly's increasing prominence and fame, the couple agreed the stereotypes inherent in a salon could injure the reputations of both Connolly and the Hollywood Reporter, so Zappia closed it. Connolly needed a legman desperately, and his solution was to hire Zappia. Borrowing a page from Henry Willson's manual, Connolly gave his partner a new name. "We're expanding," the column trumpeted on August 26, 1954. "Joe Russell joins this column's staff as legman starting Monday [August 30]." Zappia explained, "When I started working for Mike, I had to give my name to receptionists or secretaries, so I spelled Zappia, which wasn't easy for them. Mike said I should simplify matters and use 'Joe Russell'—which also made it easier for me." … The announcement of Zappia's ascendancy was, on one level, Connolly's coming-out manifesto. The rest of Hollywood already knew or would quickly come to understand the private relationship behind this new professional bond. Ezra Goodman, Time magazine's Hollywood correspondent in those days, was irked by the arrangement, couching his disapproval in language that was intended to be transparent. Zappia, Goodman wrote, was a "former hairdresser" and "close friend and collaborator of Mike Connolly," which amounted to "no experience whatsoever in writing, reporting, or show business."
