Sunlight dipped into your room, you groaned and rolled over. It was your day off, you only planned on getting up when you felt like it. Or if you had to pee before your bladder bursts, whichever came first.Â
Three short beeps of a horn make you jolt under your covers, you huff and drag the blankets over your head. People and their shitty driving would be something that irked you till the day you died⌠Wait, you live pretty far out. Why would someone be honking right outside, unlessâŚ
"Y/N!!!!! WAKE UP, IT'S ROCK AND ROLL TIME!" You groan even louder into your pillow as your front door gets assaulted by Mikoâs fists. "GO AWAY I'M NOT HOME!" You scream back at her, and she goes silent. You pause and raise your head. There's no way that actually worked, right?
"BOO!"Â
"AH!" You vault your body onto the floor with a grunt. Miko starts to laugh maniacally outside your window. You wince as you move your stiff body up off the floor, you make your way over to the window, ripping open the blinds and unlatching your window lock.Â
Miko stops laughing as you yank her through the window. "Ow! Geez sorry, someone isn't a morning person." She mumbles. You roll your eyes and make your way over to your dresser to scour for an outfit. "No, especially on my day off." She scoffs and flops onto your bed. "You can't just sleep the day away! It's almost noon!"Â
You chuckle and turn back to her, outfit in hand. "You see Miko, the point of my day off means I can spend it however the hell I want. Besides, I already hung out with you guys yesterday."Â
Miko jumps up and latches onto your arm, putting on her best pair of puppy eyes. "Pleaseeeee Y/n! We love hanging out with you!" You chuckle and raise a brow. "I'm an adult, shouldn't hanging around me be a buzzkill?" She laughs and shakes her head rapidly, making her pigtails flop around. "Pfft what? So what if you're an adult, you don't act like it! Plus Jack is more of a buzzkill than you."Â
You laugh loudly and push her out of your room. "Alright, you've convinced me. Now get out so I can change."Â
You shut your door and quickly get ready. After a couple minutes you head out of your room to find Miko staring at your counter. Your stomach drops as you realize she's staring at the missing chunk in your counter.Â
"What happened here?" She asks, glancing up at you curiously. "Oh uhâŚ"Â
FUCK! You completely forgot about your poor bar that got wrecked along with you last week.
"Oh right, yeah a friend and I were uh⌠Doing a project, and it uhâ kinda got out of handâŚ" You ramble as you avidly search for shoes so you both can leave quickly and drop the conversation. "A friend huh? Which one?" Miko starts to get a wicked grin on her face.
"A friend from work." You say, a bit too quickly for Mikoâs liking. "Oh yeah?"Â
"Mmhm, yup, yup, alright let's go!" You flash a nervous grin and gesture to the door. Miko stands with her hands on her hips, giving you a disapproving look. "I thought we were best friends Y/n?"Â
"We areâ"
"Then why didn't you tell me you hooked up with someone?!"Â
You let out a squeak while waving your arms around in a desperate attempt to sway her. "Whoa! Haha, where'd you get that idea?!" She scoffed and crossed her arms. "Um hello? You're likeâ totally blushing!... Did yall get freaky?âÂ
You nearly screamed, you did not want to have this conversation with a teenage girl. Especially this one, who would embarrass the hell out of you for it. âIâm leaving without you!â You shouted and ran out of your house.Â
Bulkhead swung open the driver door as you sprinted to his vehicle mode. Miko was yelling as she ran out of your house, the passenger side opened for her as well and she climbed it. Bulkhead started driving and broke the silence. "Whoa, where's the fire?" His amused voice comes through the radio.
Miko huffs and slouches in her seat, shooting you a frown. "Y/n won't tell me about their new partner!" You roll your eyes and cross your arms, staring out onto the road. Bulkhead sighs. "Miko⌠If Y/n wants to talk about their relationship then they will, stuff like that is private sometimes."Â
The teenager groans and sits up straighter. "Fine, but I hope you'll tell me about it soon!" You laugh and reach over, ruffling her pigtails fondly. "Sure Miko, I'm just figuring things out right now ya know?"Â
She nods and starts to laugh. "I understand, maybe it's a good thing you're keeping it private right now. We wouldn't want Starscream to find out would we?" You choke on air, a coughing fit starting up in your chest. Miko cackles loudly and Bulkhead groans in disgust. "Ugh Miko grossâŚ"Â
Right, how could you forget? Let's rewind for a second. Now, it didn't go unnoticed by team prime that Starscream had a certain⌠Fixation on you. Whenever the cons got involved with whatever the bots were doing Starscream always seemed to make it his mission to capture you, or at the very least rile you up.
Most everyone didn't think anything of it, even you. Just chalked it up to Starscream hating how snarky you were with him. The flirts you would shoot at him were typically done out of range from the bots or cons, you didn't want to be asked questions you didn't have the answers too.Â
Most everyone didn't think anything of it⌠Except Miko.Â
See, she had this wild conspiracy theory that Starscream was secretly in love with you and that the reason he always tried to capture you was so he could have you all to himself⌠Hilarious right? You thought so, at least, you used to. Now? You don't know what the hell to believe.Â
"Oh come on Bulk, Screamers would be so jealous if he found out that Y/n was dating someone." Miko says. "Look, Starscream's not the type to care about anyone but himself. Especially about a human, no offense. But I think it's safe to say that he's not capable of any kind of affection."Â
Miko and Bulkhead start to bicker back and forth about Starscream and you. Bulkhead may have a point. Starscream is loyal to himself, you're not sure if he is capable of affection but you sure as hell know he's capable of turning the inside of your pants into a slip and slide. Your face burns at the thought and you do your best to tune out their conversation the rest of the drive to base.
~~~~~~
Starscream walked throughout the dreary halls of the Nemesis, his posture stiff. This past week had been absolute torture. You constantly plagued his thoughts, all day, all night. Even in recharge he can't escape you. He's been on edge constantly and everyone on the Nemesis was starting to notice. The worst part was that he had also begun to slack in his work. He'd be spacing out more, snapping at anyone who'd point it out. More errors in coding and other data entries, even taking more time than usual out on protrols.Â
Unfortunately for him, Megatron especially had begun to notice his second in command's change of behavior.Â
Starscream folded his servos behind his back nervously, pausing in front of the door to the bridge. Megatron had requested his presence a few moments ago, and he had a horrible feeling that he knew what it was about.Â
The doors slid open and he made his way onto the bridge. The room was mostly empty, only a couple of Vehicons were posted at their station, and of course, Megatron. Starscream made his way towards his leader, every step in his pedes felt like lead. Megatron was facing away from him.
"Starscream." He spoke, voice eerily calm.
"Lord Megatron." Starscream replied.Â
"Do you know why I called you here?" Megatron asked.Â
Starscream paused. Either he had found out about Starscream's little escapade with you, or he was here to reprimand him about his slacking lately. A small part of him hoped it was something completely different, but the underlying malice in his voice told him that there was no painless way out of this.Â
"No my liege⌠I do not." He uttered. Megatron instantly picked up on his reluctance. The tall mech slowly turned around, glaring down at his second in command. âI donât like liars Starscream. You know perfectly well why you're here. Correct?â Megatron started to circle Starscream as he spoke. The shorter mech felt his knees tremble. âI donât tolerate slackers. You should know that better than anyone. Itâs bad enough my second in command is a spineless fool who constantly plots behind my back, but I donât need one who does poor work as well.âÂ
âIâm sorry myââ Starscream grunted in pain as Megatron struck him across the face, the force of the blow making him crumple to the ground. âThe only reason youâre still here is because youâre of better use to me here than anywhere else.â Megatron sent a kick to his side. Starcream jolted to the side, landing painfully on his wings. âDonât make me regret it, Starscream. Iâll dispose of you myself if you stop serving a purpose to me.âÂ
Starscream shakily tried to get to his knees but Megatron grabbed his wings and threw him to the side, eliciting a sharp yelp from the seeker. Despite the throb of pain running through Starscream, he couldnât help the rush of relief that coursed through him as well.
Megatron didnât know about you.
~~~~~~
You waved goodbye to Miko and Bulkhead from the top step of your house. The two drove away, blasting heavy metal. You chuckled and headed into your dark home. A yawn escaped your mouth as you flicked on the light of your living room, you set down your things on a chair and stretched. You had an eventful day at the base, Wheeljack was back on Earth visiting, so naturally the day was filled with fun and chaos.Â
Before you could head into your bedroom a familiar sound of an engine stopped you. Your heart instantly started to beat faster, you hadnât seen Starscream in a week. You wait for him to burst through your back door but you hear shuffling and muttering instead. Slowly you make your way to the back door, creaking it open you see Starscream there in his smaller form clutching his side. Instantly you notice the dents and scratches littering his form. The grimace of pain in his face was enough to snap you out of your shocked stare. âChristâ What happened to you?â You swing the door open fully enough for him to come in. A hiss of pain leaves his mouth as he limps through the short doorway. âWho do you think?â He grunts out.
You shut the door and watch him limp further into the house. You chew your lip in thought, you could say the autobots but considering you were with them all day the only logical explanation wasâŚÂ
âMegatronâŚ?â You inquired dolefully. Starscream said nothing as he looked to the floor, his back was to you, letting you get a clear view of his wings. They werenât horrible wounds, he would clearly live; but the light blue energon leaking from a gash in his wing made your gut heavy in discomfort. âYouâre leakingâŚâ You mumble. Starscream continues to stare at the floor, refusing to look back at you.Â
You may not have the right tools to patch him up, but you could at least ease some problems. Slowly you walk over to him, moving carefully into his line of sight. The situation as a whole is bizarre, the enemy faction of your friends is here in your house injured, and while he may not be asking for help directly the look in his optics tells you everything you need.Â
You reach your hand forward, gently wrapping your hand around his servo, silently noting how cold he was compared to the last time you touched him. His optics dart to your smaller hand, before looking at you directly. A soft smile makes your way onto your lips. âCome with me?âÂ
Starscream raises a brow before nodding slowly. You smile, and lead him towards your bedroom. You slowly open your door and flip on the light, you lead Starscream to your bed, gently making him sit on the edge. âWait here, Iâm going to grab some stuff.âÂ
âAlright.â He mumbles.Â
You turn and walk into your bathroom, mentally going through the possible supplies you have that would be beneficial. You doubt anything antiseptic would work on him, and obviously you donât have any welding gear, or whatever they use to mend wounds. That leaves cleaning and wrapping up injuries temporarily. So, you grab some rags.
When you come back Starscream is looking around your room from his spot on the bed. You donât think you can get used to the tall Decepticon sitting on your bed so casually. He turns back to you and notices the stuff in your hands. âWhatâs that?â He asks.Â
âJust some rags, do you mind if I clean you up and tie off any leaks?â Starscream seems confused, before looking down at himself. âI donât understand, am I leaking that badly? I apologize if I got energon on your thingsâŚâ Your throat tightened at his words. Truly, you donât think youâve heard an apology come from his mouth before, let alone the absolute defeat in his voice.Â
You instantly moved towards him. âNo, no itâs not that. Donât worry about any messes okay? I just want to help, I may not be able to do much for you medically⌠But I justââ Your breath hitches as you meet his stare. He looks so broken. You briefly wonder if anyone has ever done anything for him out of the kindness in their heart. You raise a hand to his face out of instinct to comfort, but he flinches away.Â
Your heart shattered.Â
He must have seen the shock in your face, for he turned away from you in shame. You swallowed the lump in your throat, crying wouldnât help either of you right now. So you continued to reach your hand out, slower this time. Your hand met the side of his faceplate, you gently turned his helm towards you. His optics seemed duller than before as he looked at you. You raise your other hand, the rag you had wet earlier in your grasp. With utmost care you wiped a scuff that was on the lower left side of his face.Â
âI donât know your situation on the Nemesis⌠I know Megatron is far from being a gracious and forgiving leader, and in all honesty he doesnât deserve the crew or position he has nowâŚâ You speak as you continue to wipe up his various scratches, his optics never leaving your face. You can feel your heart racing in your chest, yet you continue to speak tenderly. âBut I want you to know that my door is always open. Whenever you need to get away from it, or if you want company, you need to vent, get cleaned up. Whatever it may be, day or night, whether Iâm here or not, I will still be here for you. Okay?â You finish wiping his face.
Starscream has a look youâve never seen before on him, then again, you haven't seen him like this ever. It hurts you to think heâs been suffering silently and alone from Megatron's wrath all this time. Starscream doesnât know what to say, no one ever has extended such generosity and kindness to him before. At least without some sort of catch to it. So he says the only thing that comes to mind.Â
âWhy?âÂ
The question shook you. One word, and yet it raised so many questions inside you. Why were you doing this? Setting aside the fact that you were âenemiesâ , Starscream wasnât exactly the friendliest around. That, and most times youâve interacted it was threats, bantering, or flirting borderlining taunting. Only recently did things change, clearly you skipped some steps when it comes to⌠whatever relationship you have with him. What relationship did you have with him exactly? Youâre not really hostile anymore, friends is a loose term that doesnât quite fit. Partner isnât the right word, neither is lover. Fuck buddy isnât to far off, yet would just a plain old hook up care this much about the other person? So it all loops back to the original question. Why do you care?
âI donât know⌠I just do⌠Why did you come here instead of your medical bay?â
Starscream blinks in shock, his expression befuddled. Another moment passed, both of you just staring at each other. Finally, he speaks once more.Â
âI donât know⌠I just did.â
A small smile grew on your lips at his words, his face softened ever so slightly. âWell then⌠Since we obviously have no idea what weâre doing, can I finish what I started?â He nodded.
You grinned brightly and started to get back to work, cleaning any smudges or energon leaks. Starscream watched you with a soft expression, admiring you and how you worked. He had no idea how to express to you that there was no possible way you could finish what you started, not when it came to how you made him feel. Starscream was terrified of what you did to him, more so what could happen to you or him if anyone else found out what was going on.
He watched you wrap a long cloth around his thigh, you tied it off, pausing and glancing up at him concerned. âThat doesnât hurt right?â He shakes his head, and you nod before reaching for another cloth to tie off a gash on his arm. You worked silently, briefly stopping here and there to ask permission or to check in on how he was doing. Once you were done, he honestly looked a lot better. You stood in front of him, hands resting proudly on your hips as you grinned. âAll done! How do you feel?âÂ
Starscream glanced down at himself, obviously the dents and such were still there, but surface wise you did an amazing job. âI feel better⌠Thank you.â The words felt forigen, but the way your face lit up was all he needed to forget the oddity of pleasantries.Â
For a moment, you both were staring at eachother again. The tension creeped back into the room, increasingly becoming difficult to ignore. Before you impulsively smashed your face against his you cleared your throat and gathered the used rags and brought them back into your bathroom. Starsceam watched you the entire time.Â
You came back into the bedroom, shutting the door behind you. âSo um⌠Do you have to go back soon?â You asked, slightly hoping his answer would be no.Â
âProbably⌠But I donât exactly want to go back.â Starscream rested his arms on his legs, leaning forward in thought. You frowned and shifted your weight between your legs. âDo they need you back for something?â He shook his helm, running his optics over a few objects on your wall. âNo, not exactly. My shift was nearly over when I left anyway.âÂ
You ran your eyes over him, his body language seemed uncomfortable. If his words werenât enough you could clearly tell that he dreaded going back right now. Before you could stop yourself, the words slipped. âThen stay.âÂ
Starscream froze, and slowly turned towards you. â...What?âÂ
Your mouth felt dry, you wanted to avert your eyes from his intense stare but you couldnât seem to pry your eyes away from his. âStay⌠Just for tonight.âÂ
Logically, you shouldnât have offered. Then again, if you want to go by those rules you should have stopped what you were doing a long time ago. Starscream was having a similar thought. He already has let you do this for him, he was already here. The looming threat over both of your heads was already there, one night wouldnât lessen or greaten the affects.Â
âAlright⌠Just for tonight then.âÂ

TWO GHOSTS IV | MATTHEW GUBLER

A nonstop flight, from New York City to Los Angeles, is three hours long. On a good day. And May 16 was supposed to be a good day. A great day. The best day of Matthewâs life. He tries not to think about it, not to reminisce too often. About the way he walked through the airport with a little jog, a little pep in his step. And the way he smiled through security, and constantly checked behind him as if you would magically appear. The roses he bought for you in a gift shop near the terminal.
See, a nonstop flight from New York City to Los Angeles is three hours long. On a good day. But Matthew wasnât looking for three hours. He wasnât asking you for a few hours of your time, or even a good day. He was asking you for a lifetime.
And that day, he had booked you two a connecting flight that totaled over six hours, with a two hour layover in Colorado. There was a little ice cream shop in the Denver airport, and they served blueberry ice cream. Matthew remembered it was your favorite, and saved just enough money to get your tickets and an entire pint. He couldnât shake the thought of flying across the country with you, seeing a few small parts of it at a time. A few small parts at a time, until someday, you two had seen the whole world together.
He bought a blanket for you and, while waiting at the terminal, he sat it in the seat beside him, keeping it warm for when you would arrive. He had a little itinerary written in his notes app, and so far everything was going to plan. He had a bouquet of roses in his lap, and he killed time by looking up engagement rings online.
He didnât start to worry until maybe, an hour, an hour and a half before the plane was set to depart. He called you, just to check in, and it went straight to voicemail. But he was still hopeful. There was very little that could destroy his peace that day. His hope. His happiness.
He tries not to think about it. The way the seconds inched by like a caterpillar moving across the limb of a tree. Slowly, painfully. The way his hope dwindled, and dwindled, and the insane amount of times he heard,
Hey, itâs [y/n]! Leave a message!
He canât think about it anymore. The way he spents those six hours alone. Bawling his way through flight after flight, and eating a pint of blueberry ice cream by himself. He spent hours on his own. And weeks, months, hell, he spent years thinking that maybe, just maybe, you would find your way back to him. That the universe would magically correct itself.
And youâd come home.
Fifteen.
It took him fifteen years to find you again. It took fifteen years for the universe to bring you back together, and Matthew spent the first five thinking it was all some really shitty nightmare. It took him fifteen years to get close to you, to hear you say his name again, to get inside of you again.
And he managed to fuck it all up in a matter of twenty-four hours.
His body is paralyzed. His mind is moving a mile a minute, and he canât take his eyes off the ceiling. His chest feels tight, like he canât breathe properly. He knows he should not feel sorry for himself. That he, alone, is responsible for this wreck. But he canât seem to shake it. He canât seem to move.
âWhat the hell did I do?â
A knock at your door wakes you up. You donât remember falling asleep, you donât know how you were able to. But now, itâs all you want to do. You want to stay in the bed, in a state of unconsciousness and dreariness where you canât remember your mistakes. But someone is knocking. Incessantly, loudly. And they wonât stop.
You roll out of bed, and drag your body across the floor. Zombie like, your shoulders are slouched, your eyes are hooded. Your feet shuffle along the floor like theyâre weighted to the hardwood. Your footsteps are slow, hesitant. You donât know what youâll do if Matthew is on the other side of that door. You just . . . you donât know. The very thought of it is making your stomach churn, and you suddenly feel very, very nauseous. The banging continues, and itâs as someone is using all their force. Like theyâd break the door down if they could.
â[y/n]!â
You instantly relax at the sound of her voice. You speed up, hurry to the door, â[y/n] [y/l/n]! I know you can hear me! Open up!â
The door swings open and you catch her with her fist in the air, ready to strike the door once again. Sheâs pissed, doesnât try to hide it, couldnât hide it even if she tried.
âGood morning,â you rasp.
âItâs one in the afternoon,â she corrects you, pushing her way into your home.
âPlease,â you say, shutting the door behind her. âCome on in.â
âYâknow,â Everest starts, clasping her hands in front of her as a wild look graces her face. âYouâve always been one of the good ones . . . hell, youâve been . . . great, if thatâs the word. Youâre better than the others. The ones that really write my checks. But, um, youâre testing me, [y/n].â
You donât even have to ask.
âNow, if thereâs is some magical relationship blooming, or a monumental disaster about to strike, then you need to tell me now, so I can fix it. Iâm a fixer, you know, thatâs what I do. So, why are you making this so hard for me?â
âIf it . . .â you clear your throat, cross your arms as you stare at her feet. âIf it makes you feel any better, um, this is hard for me, too.â You attempt to joke. But you just sound sad.
âYeah?â she raises her eyebrows. âSo hard that you come out of his hotel in tears? And what the hell were you doing over there anyway? Was there a plan? Did he call you to come over?â
âI donât see how any of this matters.â
âIt matters because I woke up at seven in the morning â on a saturday â to all sorts of choas and speculation, and picture evidence of you doing exactly what I told you not to do!â
âYeah, well, Iâm a idiot. Donât worry, thatâs been established.â
âThe internet is undefeated. Okay? People are . . . great at making up stories, making assumptions. And as your publicist, I need to know the whole story, the real story, before it gets twisted even further.â
You sigh, and walk over to the couch. As you sit down, you pull a pillow into your lap for just a little bit of comfort. âWhat do you mean the whole story?â
âWrong choice of words,â Everest says. âThe important parts of the whole story. Like are you dating him? Are you fucking him? If so, how long has this been going on?â
You canât make eye contact as you speak, âI . . . fucked . . . him . . . a few times, a long time ago . . .â
She nods. She motions at you to continue, â. . . And?â
âAnd . . .â you breathe out. âI fucked him, again. Recently.â
âLast night? At the hotel?â
âLast night . . . not at the hotel.â
âSooo, when? â Oh, my God,â she lowers her eyebrows at you, purses her lips. âYou didnât.â
âOh, I did,â you nod. Itâs a shameful nod. âYou know they say thereâs no sex like sex in a dressing room.â
âThey also say polka dots are making a comeback, you believe everything you hear?â
âSorry.â
âSo you fuck him in the dressing room, and?â
âAnd . . . we go our seperate ways . . . again. And, then I realize thatâs a lot easier said then done, so I . . . I go for him. I go for him . . .â Everest can hear the way your voice is cracking, the way the weight on your shoulder is slowly pushing the air out of your lungs. âAnd, uh,â you clear your throat. âYeah. Yeah, it didnât work out. Hence the . . . photos of me crying, I guess.â
âMm,â she nods, crosses her arms. âAnd the other girl?â
You freeze, cut your head up at her. âWhat other girl?â
âWhat do you mean? The girls that came out right behind you. Same sad face? Kinda got a Natalie Portman look to her?â
âI . . .â you shake your head. âI didnât know she came out after me, I must have left by then.â
âWho is she?â
You give her a shrug, âI donât know.â
âHis girlfriend?â
You huff, âGuess so.â
âAh, so, some people online actually got it right. Huh, look at that.â
âLook, if the point of all of this is to keep me away from him, you can stop now. I donât plan on seeing him ever again.â
The doorbell rings, as if on queue, and Everest instantly gives you a look. âWhat?â you ask. âI donât know who it is. Your guess is as good as mine.â
She scoffs at you, and turns around, marching towards the door with a certain determination. She pulls it open, and immediately puts her hand on her hip. âYou gotta be fucking kidding me.â
âOh,â Matthew gasps. âUh, oh . . . fuck . . . sorry, I must â I must have the wrong house.â
âYou sure do, Romeo.â
You stand from the couch, your face laced with shock and anger and confusion, âWhat the fuck are you doing here?â
âDonât engage, [y/n], what the hell?â Everest interjects.
You roll your eyes and cross your arms over your chest. âHow the hell did you find my house?â you direct at Matthew.
âOh, what?â he scoffs. âLike youâre the only one around here who can play stalker?â
âGo home, Matthew.â
âFive minutes. Iâm asking you for five minutes. You can time me if you want.â
âGo back to California, Matthew.â
âLook, I know I fucked up. I know, but ââ
âDo you?â you snap. You take slow, calculated steps towards the front door, and your voice is lowering to a rumble. âDo you know that you fucked up? Because, if you did, if you truly knew just how badly you fucked up, then you would leave. You would get on a fucking plane and leave, and you would never come back!â
The way Matthew is looking at you right now.Like he canât fathom whatâs happening. Like he is trying his very best not to feel defeated. âCan I . . . can I just ââ
âNo.â Everest says. âYou heard her. Fuck off, string bean.â
You walk away, retiring to your kitchen. You try to keep yourself busy, but youâre trembling like mad and you can barely breathe.
Matthew leaves. You know because you hear the door close. Everest comes into the kitchen, and you feel stuck. Frozen to the spot and position youâre in. Your back is to her, and you canât begin to imagine or guess what look is on her face right now.
Sheâs quiet for a moment, eyeing you with her arms crossed at her chest. She leans against the entryway and sighs, âTell me more.â
Ramona walks up your driveway, and it isnât until she looks up from her phone that she sees Matthew. She notices him, and he notices her, and Ramona tries to act like it didnât happen, But when Matthew opens his mouth to speak, she blows past him, âIâm not supposed to talk to you.â
âI know,â he says instantly. He is well aware, but it doesnât stop him from running in front of her, blocking her from your front door. âI know, I know. Iâm sorry, but . . . please, can you give this [y/n]?â
Matthew holds out an envelope. Itâs bright red, your name is printed on the front of it in his handwriting.
Ramona glances at it, but she quickly glances back up, âDo I look like a mailman to you?â
âShe wonât take it from me. She wonât talk to me. She might take it from you.â
âYeah, or she might fire me for even taking it from you in the first place.â
â[y/n] wouldnât do that.â
âYeah, yeah, sheâs usually pretty amazing, except for when youâre around, or when youâre brought up, or when youâre fucking with her head. You make her a different person, dude. I want no part of it.â
He nods, looks down, âFair enough . . . Iâll put it in her mailbox.â
âYeah, why donât you do that?â She shrugs, and she continues on by him.
âDamn . . .â Everest says. âYou ghosted the guy at the airport?â
âBasically,â you shrug.
âWell, fuck,â she scoffs. âThat is some serious great gatsby shit.â
âYeah, weâve always had a flair for the dramatic.â
The doorbell rings, and you both turn your heads sharply towards the entrance. âYou donât think he would come back, do you?â Everest asks as she walks to the door.
âWell, he never listens much to anything I say, but heâs probably a little scared of you.â
She laughs, and when she opens the door, she tells you itâs only Ramona, who walks in quickly, looking for you. She gives you a soft smile, and joins you in the kitchen as Everest follows close behind.
âSo,â Ramona pips. âWhatâs the game plan?â
âYou and [y/n] come to my office in the city and weâll figure it out. Hey, did you pass him on your way out?â Everest asks her.
âUh, who?â
âMatthew,â you tell her. âHe was just here, you didnât see him?â
âHe was here?â Ramona questions, putting on a look of bewilderment. âWhen?â
âJust now. He left right before you got here.â Everest explains.
âHoly shit,â Ramona says. âWhatâd he want?â
â[y/n].â
âSo,â you interrupt. âYour office? Now? We can go ahead and get going.â
âWhoa, whoa, whoa,â Everest stops you in your tracks, throwing her hands up. âNot so fast, you . . . you need to shower first.â
You look down at your outfit. Youâre still dressed in Claireâs clothes and theyâre completely disheveled. You havenât showered or brushed your teeth since the last time you had sex, and the very thought makes you feel dirty. You look exactly how you feel. You sigh, âFair enough.â
âWeâll wait in the car,â Everest nods, and motions to Ramona to follow her.
âWhat are we gonna do with her?â she says to Ramona as soon as theyâre out of the house and walking down the driveway.
âI donât know, sheâs my boss . . . I can only help so much.â
âYeah, well, Iâve known [y/n] for a long time now, and sheâs never needed saving. But, something tells me weâre going to have to keep her away from this one.â
âFrom Matthew?â Ramona stops in her tracks.
âWell,â Everest stops, turns around to look at her. âSheâs a grown woman. Sheâll do what she wants. But, that zombie in there,â she motions to the house. âWho walks around the city in her pajamas for a man, is not [y/n]. Atleast, not the worldâs [y/n]. People love her. Sheâs one of the few celebrities thatâs kind and passionate and isnât problematic. Iâm just being proactive here.â
âProactive?â
âShe says sheâs done with him. She told him sheâs done with him. Now, we will just keep her on that path. Few months later, she and the rest of the world forget this ever happened and everything is back to normal.â
âYou sound very sure of all of this.â
âYeah, well, I like my schedules and I happen to like [y/n] so I better be sure. Come on, our rideâs further down the driveway,â Everest continues walking. While Ramona is stuck in place.
âHey! Uh,â Ramona stutters, suddenly, loudly, causing Everest to turn around once again. âI think I left my water bottle in the house. Iâll meet you in the car?â
âOkay,â Everest eyes her. âItâs just around the corner. And tell [y/n] to hurry up.â
âI will!â
Ramona waits for Everest to continue down the driveway, and when sheâs just far enough, Ramona turns around and acts as if sheâs walking back up to your front door. When sheâs positive Everest has made it to the car, she runs over to your mailbox. She opens it slowly, so it doesnât creak as loud. The bright red envelope is the only thing in there, and she takes it out quickly. She looks at it for a moment, asks herself what the hell sheâs doing. But she doesnât have time to think right now, you could walk out at any moment. She closes your mailbox, shoves the envelope in her bag, and walks down the driveway.
Matthew Gubler, himself, is a disruption in the space-time continuum.
When you start tallying up the days, it just doesnât make sense. Some days, every second feels like itâs crawling by. Youâll be in class, at the head of the class, and youâre surprised when your lesson plan ends atleast ten minutes early. And some days, time moves too fast. You find yourself running late for things, events, important people or things, which isnât like you.
You call it Matthew Brain, and you keep that term to yourself. It happened fifteen years ago. And itâs happening now. Itâs a slow, steady descent back to earth, back to reality. Time isnât real with him, and you think thatâs the reason you canât remember much of your senior year. Itâs a rush, a high to even be near him, and itâs the ultimate collapse when heâs gone. Really gone. Out of the life, for the second time.
Time has reset.
And what feels like one month with Matthew Gubler, only turns out to be four days.
Youâre on a journey back to earth, and you havenât even reached the bottom yet. Itâs coming, but not now, you thought. You have time to prepare. And this time youâll be ready. Ready to hit rock bottom, and spend another fifteen years digging yourself out. You have time, youâre sure of it.
Then Ramona comes into your office. She notices you crying, and you have to twirl around in your chair while you wipe the tears away. âShit, Ro,â you try to laugh. âWhatâs up?â
âUh, your afternoon class?â she reminds you. âWith the girls at the community center? . . . Whatâs wrong?â
âNothing.â
A lot. Not anything that you can really talk to Ramona about. And each day is something different. Like today, youâre feeling like a fucking idiot. You feel unbelievably stupid and lost and question why anyone in their right mind would choose to learn anything from you. You feel defeated, and you canât get the look on that girlâs face out of your head.
You turn to Ramona with a soft smile, âIâm fine. I forgot about the class, thank you for reminding me. I just have to grab a few things before I go.â
âWell,â she sets her bag down in one of the chairs on the opposite side of your desk. She takes a seat in the other, âYouâve got some time, I havenât even called the ride yet.â
You eye her, suspicious furrowing your eyebrows, âOh, donât do that.â
âDo what?â she seems genuinely confused.
âSit there and feel sorry for me. I donât need pity. Iâm alright.â
âIâve never seen you cry before . . . Iâm just worried.â
âAnd I appreciate that, kid, I really do. But you donât have to be, alright?â
â. . . okay.â she shrugs.
âAnyways,â you change the subject. âHow much time do I have until Iâve gotta be out of here?â
âUm, I can call you a ride now, it should be here in about, ten minutes?â Ramona pulls her phone from her pocket, and holds it up as she dials the number.
âSounds good,â you nod.
She leaves the room to make the call, and when she closes the door, you release a big sigh. As if youâd been holding it in the whole time she was here. You get up from your chair, and walk around the desk. Not paying attention, you stub your toe into the adjacent chair, so hard that the chair falls to the ground.
âOw! Son of a bââ your yelp is cut off by a painful groan, and your reach down to hold your foot. You look out in front of you, and Ramonaâs entire bag has spilled out across the floor. âFuck,â you mumble and instantly begin to clean it up.
Itâs bright red. And it sticks out like a sore thumb. You reach over to grab it, but only because you recognized his hand writing. You run your fingers over your name, and your head is starting to hurt from the amount of pure confusion.
The door swings open, âOkay, theyâll be here in fifteen, but you have some wiggle room ââ Ramona stops when she sees the item in your hand.
You stand up straight, look her in the eye. Sheâs shaking. Sheâs trembling, and there are already tears in her eyes.
âI . . . can explain,â she says.
âThen explain.â
âMatthew . . . wanted me to â to give that to you.â
âWhen?â
âWhen, um, when he was at your house on Saturday.â
âYou said you didnât see him. You acted like you didnât even know he had been there. You took this from him?â your voice goes up at slight octave. Not by much, but it stills cuts Ramona like a knife.
âNo! No, I didnât take it from him. I told him to put it in the mailbox. Which he did, but then I . . .â
âYou? You what? Went into my mailbox and took it? Are you kidding?â
âIt was crazy! I know! It was absolutely insane of me! ButâBut Everest was saying all these things about protecting your image, and being proactive, I just wanted to help. I thought ââ
âEverest? Everest knew about this?â
âNo. No. I took it when she wasnât looking, and I just, I thought maybe if you didnât know about the letter, you would be able to move on, yâknow? Heal.â
âThat was not your decision to make.â
âI know. [y/n], Iâm so sorry. I canât â I canât even begin ââ
âYouâre right,â you interrupt her. âYou canât.â
You look down at the envelope in your hands, and shake your head. âGod, Ro, I can barely look at you right now.â
âIâm sorry . . .â
You nod.
âIâll . . . go wait for the car,â she nods, sadly and apologetically exiting the room.
You close the door behind her, and press your back against it. You slide to the floor, and bring the evelope close to your face. The day is not over, and you may need all night to take this in. You are not mentally prepared for whatever is in your hands, but, you rip it open anyway.
Thereâs a thin piece of paper inside. You pick it up, and it feels so frail that you worry it might rip. You set it on top of the envelope, and examine it. Your eyes dot over the page, until you realize, itâs not a letter at all.

COLD NIGHTS - Cassian x Azriel x Reader - Prompt:Â
hi i love your work so much!!! I was thinking a cassian x azriel x reader (i just love them sm, why have one when you can have two ) where the reader is sister of a high lord maybe day or winter court, and reader goes missing (kinda angsty) and her brother (a high lord) panics and goes to the night court for help (bc if her two bat boys canât find her who will)Â
and az and cassian go full on panic mode and search for the reader, i was also thinking a fluffy cute ending where reader is just cuddling with azriel and cassian while her wounds heal take as much time as you need to write this, donât pressure yourself. Take care lovely
Kallis would never forget the screams. The terror and panic that rushed through him when he realised that you were gone.Â
He sent half the city to search for you. He called upon Helion to inspect the magic. He was frantic in finding you. But it was like you had just disappeared out of nowhere. No sign of struggle, not a drop of blood spilled. The offender was sloppy in their ways, but their magic was strong. Helion could sense it.Â
They had a deathwish from Kallis himself if he ever found them.
+Â
The first thing you saw were your cracked and bloody hands. They were split open from the dry cold wind. Sea air drifted into the cave. The cold brutal howling outside mixed with the roar of waves breaking confirmed your nightmares. Cape Tragedy.Â
The islands off the coast of winter were known for their unforgiving nature to ships. Hence their name, Cape Tragedy. Also known as the Tragic coast, no stories were ever heard of any survivors of those crashes. If they had managed to survive the churning water, then the false salvation of the islands would kill them. It happened often enough that there were lighthouses set atop many of the bigger islands for ships to avoid on stormy days.
You coughed from the dry air, earning a pair of yellow eyes to dart to you.
One of the three lesser fae males noticed you were awake and clapped. "She wakes! We've been waiting for you, sweetheart." His green skin was pale in the overcast light streaming in from the mouth of the cave. Snow Bear pelts lay all around. A disgrace in your culture. No citizen of Winter court would do such a thing. You looked to the walls to find weapons, and strange markings along the stone. Sailors from far away lands.Â
Not even sailors. Pirates. A chill ran through you. Â
"We're going to get your weight in gold, pretty one." The scaled male curled a piece of your hair behind you ear. Your stomach turned, and you tried to scoot away. "My brother will kill you first. And he'll take a long time doing it." You promised, trying to make your voice sound strong. Terror had you by it's grip though, and it was hard to do anything other than panic
.
"Your brother? The pretty one that shears the Elk?" The green one asked. You laughed, and then were hissing in pain when the scaled male yanked on your hair. "What's so funny?"Â
"You think my brother is an elk herder?" You spat "You must be dumber than you look." The males glanced between each other, then to the one who hadn't said anything yet.
"Who ye think you are then?" The male holding your hair stammered, trying to keep his panic under wraps.Â
"Kallis' sister." You said with deadly calm. "And the high lord does not negotiate."Â
"If you're so noble why you got such a mouth on ye?" The third male finally spoke.
They laughed.
"Maybe we will see just how much of a mouth-" He started again. He didnt have a chance to finish his disgusting words. You kicked, bending an ice spear straight up from the rocky ice floor and through the third male's body. Then the beating from the other two came.Â
They bound your wrists and ankles in rope and tar. Their hands shook when they did it. It gave you a small bit of satisfaction. The potion they gave you to knock you out was just barely strong enough. You fought it as best you could, but it won. You could only hear the faint sounds of arguing then a crash of glass, then the cold winds whipping around you.
And when you woke, your body ached.Â
The cold bit into your limbs. Your fingers were pale. Far too pale to be healthy. You knew frostbite when you saw it. Your body refused to move under your own power. Your blood was frozen to the icy ground. They had used a potion and transported you to a peninsula, and you could only faintly hear the ocean below.
You could feel the potion wearing off, but you knew you weren't healing. Not yet. You reached down into your own mind, picking up the fading tendrils of power. Of your bond to the two you knew could save you. And you pulled as hard as you could manage.Â
---
"Fuck." The roaring thought shook Cassian awake. Bleary eyed, he glanced about the room as if there was someone actually shouting at him.Â
Then he felt it. The weak tug that had been silent for so long. And he knew it was nothing good.
Frenzied, he met Azriel at the dining area. Where they spent the rest of the night planning, deducing a probable reason for you to be calling so weakly. They sent their worries to Rhys, but they were shooed away. "I'm researching. Meet me in the library at dawn."
The two males tried to comfort each other. But the worry pulsating through the bond was too much to focus on. So they waited.
Kallis appeared that morning. He spat his story and begged for help, practically in tears as he spoke to the three Illyrians. Cassian and Az knew something was wrong the moment you were attacked. Court laws forbade them interfering on Winter Court territory though.Â
As soon as the approval was given, the brothers winnowed to the border of Winter and started flying.
+
You were coming to terms that you would die in the cold. You had imagined death differently. Battle was the primary way you thought you'd die. Or at the end of a High Lord's magic for being too much of an advisor. Smiling at the memory of putting Tamlin in his place, you gave another tug down the bonds to your mates.
And like a snap, they both tugged back. Almost in unison. It was hard to tell. You closed your eyes, listening to the soft waves below. They lulled you into a cold sleep yet again.Â
+
Despite the cold, the Illyrians flew as fast as they could. They could sense your light fading, and chased it for mile after mile. Their wings cut through the harsh winter winds, fueled by rage and desperation. Then they spotted the dark figure frozen to the snow below.
Cassian landed first, a few feet away. The ice cracked beneath him. "Get us out of here." He growled to Azriel.Â
"We need to make sure she's okay before we move."Â
Cassian growled, but didn't protest. Azriel understood. He felt the anguish and frustration through the shared bond. Az's hands pressed gently to your neck, checking your pulse. He swore. "Baby, we need you to wake up for us. We're here. We got you." Cassian put a hand to your cheek and fought back the tears that threatened.Â
You groaned in response. They both sighed in relief, their breath making clouds in front of them. "I'm stuck..." You managed through your stiff jaw.Â
Cassian stroked a thumb over your cheek. "Stuck? Honey you're-"Â
"Cas..." Azriel nodded to your side, to the ice that crept its way up your damp clothes. Azriel could have taken a very very long time torturing the beasts that did this to his mate. The rage coiled in his gut at the sight of your injuries. The only reason you hadn't bled out was the blood and water mix turning your wounds to ice.Â
Cassian pulled at the ice web that encapsulated you. Under the heat of his rage it broke, and broke and broke. Azriel placed small patches of his shield over your frostbitten fingers. "We're gonna get you out of here. Just stay still." Azriel smoothed back your hair, and darkness swirled over you. The change from the harsh overcast light of Winter court to the soft sun of Night court was jarring.Â
Madja put her hands on you and you were asleep in an instant. Her warm hands were a blessing from the Mother.Â
+Â
"She's lucky she has that Winter blood in her or she'd be dead." Madja wiped her hands off and handed both the Illyrians a small vial. "That is the scrap from a poisoned sword that broke off in her shoulder. I got all the pieces out, but the poison lingers. It may heal slowly, but it should get better."Â
Anguish burned both of their stomachs. Azriel's throat tightened and he looked away, but gripped the vial tightly. Cassian stared at it, his eyes murderous. Madja left without another word.
"She was almost killed. And we couldn't do anything." Cassians' voice was low, with violence dripping from it. "We need her here. In Velaris where we can... watch her." He didn't know what he was saying, but the instinct to protect was overriding every other logical thought he had. Anger burned and burned in his stomach, swallowing him with rage. He could feel Az mirroring the same feeling, but with a cold deadliness that begged to simmer out of him.Â
"You know she wont go for that. She loves her home too much. Her brother." Azriel whispered back.
"We're her mates. She should be with us." Cassian was looking for a fight. All the tension and anger of the day had to be worked out. Azriel felt it too. His shadows ran anxiously through the room.
The wind outside howled. It shifted the dark clouds that covered the moon. It seemed to be a cold day in all of Prythian. A cold day in your mates hearts to the pirates that had taken you. They spoke their rage mind to mind, imagining the ways to torture the bastards.Â
How to find them would be the first priority. Azriel kept circling back to that part.
+
The healer cleared his throat at the door. "She's asking for you." He nodded to Rhys' brothers. They left Rhys behind in unison, walking in perfect step with each other. Their minds hummed together over that bond they shared with you. "Protect protect protect." They both seemed to demand.Â
Azriel knocked softly, his heart flipping when he heard your voice again. "Get in here." You demanded, giving them a broad smile when they practically shoved each other out of the way.Â
"Come keep me warm." You weakly folded the blanket back, exposing some of the bruising on your skin.Â
They complied with enthusiasm. Azriel's hands were cold at first, but they got better when he reached around you to hold Cassian closer. They worked in tandem to keep you covered, making sure that you weren't too crowded or too warm. Azriel summoned his cool shadows when you got too warm and had to kick the blankets off. Cassian's warm breath would keep you warm when they became too much. You traced Azriel's cheekbones, the sharp edge of his jaw while falling alseep. Cassian's muscled forearms hugging you from behind were like a heavy pillow.Â
"Rest now, we can have more fun later." Az winked, making your stomach flutter. Cassian groaned and pulled you further to his lap. You tried not to think of the hardness that pressed to you now.Â
"Goodnight." The shadowsinger kissed your forehead and like a light, you were out. Finally resting peacefully wrapped between your two mates and their warm bond you all shared.Â

let you down. (sebastian stan x reader)
summary: it's a universal truth but it's worth repeating; feelings eat us raw. or just an actor and a girl falling in and out of love over the course of three months.
(this was inspired by sebastian's visit to greece for his movie, monday, and is based on that, so that means in the story weâre in 2018. also i have this posted on ao3 too but while iâm writing the last parts i thought of posting it here too)
pairing: sebastian stan x reader
warnings: alcohol, sexual references, implied depression, donât kill me because of the ending, sebastian and reader are the definition of right person wrong time, it's kinda slowburn because i love the yearning, also this part has some funny moments but overall itâs a big SOB
part: 6/6 (there will also be an epilogue)
(other parts)Â Â (masterlist)
This is how it ends: broken hearts from crashed dreams.
Sebastian holds you until his muscles ache and your lungs burn from the feeling of too little oxygen. It is cold and dark, almost midnight, too dark, a starless night.
No more stars for you and I.
âHere,â Voice hoarse, eyes heavy-lid and itching from almost crying. He gives you one of the rings he wore in the movie. âI want you to keep this.â
Keep it close to your heart. Forget me not.
He takes a breath and a step back, tries to regain all the strength he still has, steady feet and shoulders fixed. He digs his nails into his palms, red marks in his skin, air catching in his throat, heâs on the verge of falling but he stays standing.
He remembers tears glistening down his cheeks, maybe they were yours not his, and the cold autumn wind hitting his face and he remembers feeling like heâs dying.
And then he closes the door of Argyrisâ car and looks at you.
And his heart stretches and stretches and stretches and then somehow splits in half.
/
It goes like this:
Thereâs a ghost that lives in your apartment from now on. In the living room. Sitting on the couch. And it has steel blue eyes and a familiar heart. And it whispers a love story, half-finished, and you cannot make it stop.
The ghost touches your collarbone and heâs gone but thereâs a ring in a golden chain around your neck and a white shirt forgotten in your laundry. And it smells like him. The clinging scent of his aftershave sticking to your pores. Eucalyptus. And no matter how hard you try to wash it off, it still lingers.
How could I ever forget someone like you?
The ghost lives here, but the place is empty, so empty. And itâs hard not to cry.
/
Sebastian calls and texts a lot.
He tells you heâs tired but excited because he started filming a new movie. Itâs very indie and experimental, I canât wait for you to see it. He tells you heâs missing his days in Greece like hell and that one night he dreamt of you. Didnât want to wake up. What he doesnât tell you is that heâs coming back in a month, Argyris needs him for some extra scenes. Itâs nearly killing him but he doesnât tell you. He wants to surprise you, see the pure light in your eyes when theyâll meet his.
/
You try sexting. It doesnât go very well.
23:50, sebastian: if you were here in my bed right now what would you be doing
06:51, you: probably falling asleep hahaha
06:51, you: oh fuck was i supposed to sext back
06:51, you: sorry seb i just woke up and i have a class in an hour, love you <3
23:52, sebastian: fuck timezones
/
(three weeks and 10 seconds later)
âI canât believe she doesnât know youâre here,â Argyris shakes his head as heâs driving home from the airport, âIf I were her, Iâd kill you.â
âGood thing I didnât fall in love with you.â
Sebastian laughs and looks out of the car window. The stars. There are so many stars tonight. He holds his breath; heâs finally feeling whole again. His heart isnât split in two anymore.
/
You donât know how long you stand there at your door, staring at him, but it feels like a century before he grins, almost laughs, takes your hands in his and you start considering that perhaps this isnât a hallucination. Perhaps itâs real.
âSurprise?â
Something inside of you bursts, your organs twitch. You canât think, you canât speak, but you can move. You donât lose any more time, you take a step forward, attach your bodies, your face buried in his neck, your fingers clutching into the rough fabric of his jacket. You breathe him in like an antidote.
âHow?â
âDoes it matter?â
âNo.â
You kiss him and itâs like poetry, like art, like honey and you canât separate yourself from him, not even hours later.
/
(looking back, these were the golden days)
You pretending to be mad at him for not telling you he was coming back and him pressing his lips on your skin, drawing patterns on your naked shoulder. A feathery touch.
Sebastian always touches you like youâre something made of gold and porcelain, something cherished that constantly needs to be treasured. And nobody has done that before. And you love him for it.
You try to decorate your Christmas tree together. He messes with the lights for a while, eventually gives up and goes on to eat too many reindeer shaped cookies.
He massages your muscles when you write a boring essay for college.
You go with him when he has to shoot a âdriving a motorcycle naked in the centre of Athensâ scene and you bite the inside of your cheeks to stop smiling like an idiot.
He gives you a dress he bought for you in New York. Â
âYou didnât have to.â
âI know, but I wanted to.â
He calls you sweetheart in the mornings, still half asleep and later joins you in the shower.
âWhy are you so hot?â
âClimate changeâ
âOh, shut upâ
Itâs tender and itâs soft and itâs human.
And thatâs the saddest part.
/
Soon you realize that him leaving two months ago was merely a rehearsal and you still havenât said your actual goodbyes. Your chest starts to feel as if itâs full of crushed glass.
And itâs ridiculous because you fell in love with Sebastian sometime between the first ten days you spent together.
Who falls in love in ten days? Â
Ridiculous or not, you know you are in love with him just as you know that sooner or later, whatever he is feeling will fade and wither. Maybe itâll be in a week, maybe itâll be in a month, maybe in a year if youâre lucky. But there will definitely come a day when he will step out of a gala or a party or a fancy gym in New York with a beautiful model in his arms and two paparazziâs following him around.
What will you be then?
A past small cameo in his life. A side character. Will he remember your name?
He is your whole world.
(a bottle of cheap prosecco helps you decide that)
He is your whole world.
And yet, there will come a day when he wonât even remember your name.
/
It was difficult. No, it was the most difficult thing youâve ever done. Telling him how you think itâd be better if you didnât talk after he leaves.
âI donât agree with this.â
âSeb, itâs for the best.â
Your body doesnât feel strong enough to carry your heart. And youâre certain it will only get worse once heâs away. The world around you will melt. Youâll obsess over a phone screen and his messages. Youâll start chasing ghosts again. You canât handle that.
âWhy?â He says urgently and his fingers dance over the flesh of your palms.
âBecause thisâ, you motion your hand between the two of you, âis the most beautiful thing Iâve ever had in my life and I donât want it to become ugly.â
He nods, he understands.
âI love you, you know,â he says smiling and tugs you closer to him, âAnd I may not be here to show you but I think Iâll love you for a long time.â
Your hand grips his waist right to the bones and something flares in your eyes, something wild that wrenches you around.
âI know, Iâll love you the same.â
âMaybe weâll meet again.â
âOnly if Iâm the luckiest girl on the planet.â
He laughs and you look at him, fully aware heâll be ripped out of your life like a page from a cheap leather notebook. And when you kiss for the last time, thereâs a hole forming in your soul.
And just because endings donât leave visible scars to oneâs body and soul, that doesnât mean the scars donât exist. You know they do, because you feel the aching pain of every single one of them.
/
(every night when you close your eyes you see him)
(every night you look at the stars and think of him)
/
A month passes and Argyris asks you if you miss him.
âI donât think Iâll ever stop.â
âHe said the exact same thing.â
You tell him not to mention Sebastian again.
Two months pass and you need to stop stalking his instagram profile.
Three months pass and you almost text him.
Four months pass and you go to watch Endgame with some friends and you cry. You cry when Black Widow sacrifices herself and when Iron Man smiles at his wife while dying, and when Bucky Barnes appears on screen.
The others donât understand and you donât blame them.
Five months pass and Argyrisâ girlfriend wants you to meet someone. A charming boy your age with blonde hair and a lip piercing.
And he's cute but you compare him to Sebastian even before he has the chance to say his name. His eyes are not the right shade of blue and he doesnât look at you like youâre made of the worldâs finest jewel.
And he doesnât know any constellation names.
And then more than a year passes in a second and you learn to not look for him. Not anymore.
/
Itâs early March 2020 and despite the rising fear of the upcoming pandemic, youâre doing well. Scars are starting to fade. And after spending two weeks in Prague, your best friend being there with an exchange program, Sebastian Stan is the farthest thing from your mind.
Until he literally comes crashing into you. At the airport.
No, it canât be him.
You have your suitcase on one hand and a bottle of antiseptic gel on the other. He has two bodyguards on his sides and a black hoodie on. Â And while half of his face is hidden behind a mask, you can see his eyes perfectly. A frozen lake in December. You would know those eyes in your deathbed, at the end of the world.
Your vision gets blurry and suddenly you feel cold.
He wonât recognize me, he canât.
But then he looks at you and every memory you had buried inside of you resurfaces.
He motions to his guards to wait for him and he starts walking towards you. You breathe slowly, one breath at a time. He takes his mask off and you hesitate to take yours, not sure if you truly want him to see you.
You exchange the typical and very awkward hi, how are you, iâm glad youâre doing okay and then he smiles and it feels comfortable. Familiar.
Itâs the whiff of another time that you always kept around. A reminder that you were once loved by a god.
âWhat are you doing here?â
âFilming Falcon and the Winter Soldierâ
If you hadnât unfollowed him on instagram, youâd known.
âAh yes I heard about that, congrats.â
He nods a thank you.
âAnd you? In Prague?â
âI was at a friend.â
He looks conflicted, hurt, turns his gaze to his shoes on the grey cement. You want to say something, but you feel like throwing up.
And then he laughs.
âI was right.â
Youâre confused, he notices.
âBack in Greece,â he swallows, âI told you this would happen.â
âIt would have been an airport, different gates for each of us, but same waiting hall. Or a Greek island, where weâd both be for the summer.â
âI would have found you.â
You remember and you cannot help but smile. He was right. He found you.
âI didnât believe you then.â
I barely believe you now.
He touches your hair. And his touch is like a knife. And you want to cry. Magnolias under your tongue. A love long lost is whispering in your ears until it hurts to listen. Heâs like a magnetic field and you feel yourself drowning in him.
âI bet theyâll ask me a hundred questions about you later.â He says and looks at the two men waiting for him.
âAnd what will you tell them?â
âThat youâre most probably the love of my life.â
Donât cry, donât cry.
âThereâs no way weâd meet here if youâre not.â
âSebastian,â His name sounds like a prayer coming out of your lips and you're ready to tell him you love him and you can swear he looks like heâs ready to faint, âI-â
The guards yell his name. And it's the same feeling people have just before a car crash.
âIâm sorry, I have to go.â
One last look.
Donât cry, donât cry.
You repeat it over and over again. But you fail.
âNo, don't cryâ He smiles, one last smile, âJust look at the stars and wait for us to meet again, because we will.â
He caresses the back of your palm for a second and you think your ribcage is shattering but itâs only your heart drumming frantically. Pushing your fragile bones to break.Â
You want to stop him, wrap your arms around his torso, never let him go. Not again. But you donât.
You just watch him leave, one more time, your knees weak, your head heavy and dizzy. For the split of a moment he turns and glances at you but then heâs nowhere to be seen.
Perhaps it was all in your imagination. Perhaps it was nothing but a wonder.
You get into your plane and you silently sob.
/
And then itâs summer.
And you overhear he was seen with a girl, the day before your vacation starts and you find a picture of them together a week later, a pretty blonde girl clinging to his side with a colorful bikini somewhere in Spain. And heâs smiling. And you feel so ashamed. And so stupid.
They say time heals all wounds but they must be wrong because you canât forget how he used to smile at you or how he used to call you the love of his life.
Was he joking when he said you'll meet again? You bet if you asked him now, he wouldn't even remember saying it.
Iâll love you for a long time.
So long for nothing.

⥠"the next time i see you, it'll be in hell" / "you're the best thing that's ever happened to me"
⥠pairing: connor kent (superboy/RotS) x fem! reader
⥠note: not checked for grammar or spelling mistakes / i was listening to 'esa hembra es mala' by gloria trevi so if you do speak spanish, that's a song rec while you read this fic. if you don't, listen to 'hermit the frog' by marina instead!
"connor please, you're giving ME a headache and it's only seven in the morning," his friend, jake, spoke as his hands covered his face, "wait, shut up, who is that?" connor asked, seeing you with a few friends.
jake sighed, "that's ( your name )," he spoke softly, "she's friends with everyone here. some like her, some can't stand her. it all depends on how she feels with you." you were schools resident 'popular' girl and had a bit of a following among your class.
"i'm gonna go talk to her," connor said. his friends eyes widened, "connor no!" jake screamed, grabbing his friend and pulling him back, "she's a complete bitch, don't do it!" jake exclaimed as he could tell that everything he was saying was going over connor's head.
you fixed the newspaper that had superboy's face plastered on the cover, "i just think that superboy could beat robin if i'm being honest. PLUS he's attractive because you can actually see his face," the day old conversation between you and your friends about who was the better sidekick struck up again and anyone who knew you knew how much you adored superboy.
"hey ladies," you turned to look at the boy, confused on who he was as you had never seen him around school. you gave him a small smile, "uh, hi?" you asked, "do i know you?"
the boy who approached you was wearing sunglasses which threw you off considering your school didn't allow anyone to wear them inside the building. you looked to his other friend, recognizing him as someone you had in your Calc class.
"just wanted to introduce myself, i'm connor," he said, giving you a sly smirk. you shook his hand, half awkwardly, "please i'm ( your name )," you replied as you saw the way connor gave jake a wink, "is there something you wanted or?" you asked again, not knowing why he was still here.
"no, just wanted to say hi to my future girlfriend," you let out a laugh, catching everyone off guard, "please, as if," you replied as you grabbed your friends and walked away, kind of taken back by the new boy.
"he was kinda cute," one of your friends said as you rolled your eyes, "uh, not really? kinda weird if you ask me," you replied, looking down at the newspaper, "well, i'm going to class, see ya," you said, walked towards your AP Lit class.
you sat down in the front, immediately talking to the friends you had in the class. it wasn't even five minutes later when connor entered the class, immediately smirking when he saw you. you growled, instantly annoyed at his expression.
"ah, so you've met the resident new boy?" you nodded as your friend giggled, "he's really nice. made more than a friends already," she said as you shrugged, "okay and? he had a lot of nerve coming up to me and telling me i'd be his future girlfriend," you replied.
she let out a belting laugh, "yeah, he told meghan from fifth period the same thing," you saw connor walking up to your desk and before he could make himself comfortable next to you, you instantly put your leg on the chair, "don't even think about it," you said, not even looking at him, "the desk in the back is available though," you smirked as you watched your teacher roll her eyes at your attitude.
connor bent down to your level, "don't gotta be so hostile, sweetheart, i know you like me," he whispered before getting up and leaving.
your friend, looked at you, laughing at disbelief at both of your attitudes. you rolled your eyes, trying to pay attention to the discussion as you could feel connor's eyes on you almost the entire time.
+
throughout the weeks and going into months, your relationship with connor didn't change. he arguably became the biggest pain your ass from the beginning of the day until the final bell rang. he managed to befriend a few of your friends which meant that you were around him at times.
you sipped your coffee as you were reading the newest article on superboy, "ah, ah, ah, what do we have here?" connor asked, taking the magazine from your hand, "superboy fan, huh?" he scanned the cover, a smug smirk coming onto his face as you snatched the magazine back.
"yeah, someone who's actually useful in life," you replied as he walked with you to your locker. he had never saw the inside of it and taken back by the amount of photos you had....of him, "aww, don't be that way, sweetheart! maybe one day superboy will actually give you a chance," he joked.
your annoyance instantly shot up as you slammed your locker and walking away, "see ya later sweetie!" he screamed. you stopped in the middle of the hall and flicked him off, "the next time i'll see you, it'll be in hell!" you yelled, storming off to class.
you walked into class, sitting down as your friend, henry, walked up to you, "hey babe," he said, a warm feeling crossing your face at the term of endearment, "hey henry, what're you up to?" you asked, seeing him looking at you, a bit nervously now.
"i was wondering if you were free-," before henry could say anything else, connor walked up behind him and tapping him on the shoulder. he had heard the conversation between the two of you and knew exactly where it was heading, "uh, she's not interested, better luck next time," connor stated, surprising henry with his sudden angry attitude.
henry knowing he didn't want to risk the chance of getting his ass kicked walked away from the conversation as you stared at connor with rage in your eyes, "what do you want?" you seethed as you saw connor's smirk playing on his face, "you weren't actually entertaining him, were you?" he asked in disbelief, "i literally hate you with every ounce of my being," you blurted, finally sick of connor's attitude.
his mouth hung open as you got up from the desk, "do me a favor and PLEASE leave me alone, that's all i ask," you stated as you walked out of class and deciding to ditch for the rest of the day.
"told you she was gonna blow up," jake informed as he sat down in his seat, connor still standing in place, taking in everything you had said. he knew he was being a bit of an ass but he didn't know you were that angry with him.
connor knew he had to make this up. he genuinely did like you and he didn't want to ruin his chances with you because of his shitty attitude. throughout the class period, he picked his brain for ideas until sirens went off in his head.
SUPERBOY.
he knew you were practically in love with his alter ego and he knew he could use superboy as a way to persuade you into giving him another chance. that is if he played his cards right.
+
you reluctantly showed up the next day, trying to avoid connor as best as you could. you were talking with a few friends, gossiping about the fight that superboy and robin had against a few low level villains in metropolis last night.
"hey, look at connor," jake whispered, seeing his friend practically beat up. you were taken back by his appearance as he had a few bruises on his arms and legs, "are you okay?" jake asked connor.
connor shook his head slowly, his body still recovering from the night before, "what were yall talking about?" he asked, trying to redirect the conversation. everyone looked to you, "someone was gushing about superboy, so please, if you'd continue," meghan said playfully.
"oh shut up, like you don't have robin posters all over your room," you retorted as you watched connor struggling to stay upright, "all i'm saying is that superboy remains the best sidekick there is. did you see the way he walked out of that fight scratchless and look at robin, he nearly died," you continued.
meghan instantly retorted as you noticed how eerily silent connor had became. you turned over to him, about to say something sarcastic towards him until he flopped on top of you, passing out completely. you looked down at him, "connor?" you whispered, "hey connor, wake up," you whispered, shaking him a bit.
"take him to the nurse!" jake yelled at you as you grabbed connor by the arm and pulling him against you, "fuck off, he's heavy as hell," you breathed, trying to steady his weight against you before walking slowly towards the nurse.
you made the walk to the nurse but by the time you made it, connor had woken up, "don't take me to the nurse, please," he whispered, "what are you talking about?" you exclaimed, "you clearly aren't okay and you don't look okay either," you added on.
he steered the two of you to the family bathroom and grabbed the first aid kit, "clean me up here, i really don't want to be questioned right now," he said, nothing cocky or playful in his voice. you sat him on the toilet, bending down to clean his face first, "hey, is everything okay....you know at home?" you asked.
he laughed, shaking his head, "these injuries aren't from my guardians if that's what you're wondering. i kinda got into a fight last night," you stared at him confused, "did you lose or something? these injuries look horrible," you replied.
"course i did, just took a nasty beating before i won," he said as he flinched at the rubbing alcohol hitting his arm. you muttered a sorry as you put a band-aid on a few of his cuts, "listen, i wanted to say sorry for acting like a prick," connor muttered a few minutes later.
you were taken back by his apology, "i knew i was being an ass but please don't take this as me joking but you're actually the best thing that's happened to me since i transferred," you remained silent, not knowing to respond as you put the last band-aid on his knee.
"and if i could have a second chance, that would be super dope, ya know?" he tried to say without sounding nervous, "you better not be joking, kent," you threatened, putting your finger on his chest and shoving him a bit.
connor flinched back in pain as you muttered a sorry, "i'm not joking, i'd really like to take you out for coffee sometime," he asked as he grabbed your hand and gave it a kiss. you agreed as you responded with a kiss on his cheek, "also, i had this lying around my room and figured you'd like it more than i would," he dug into his backpack and gave you a magazine.
your eyes widen seeing what it was. it was the magazine that superboy first appeared in and you had analyzed a few signatures of his to know that it was his signature on the front, "did superboy sign this?" you practically tried to contain your excitement as you ran your finger over the sharpie.
connor nodded, "i met him one time after he saved a few people in metropolis last year and got him to sign the magazine. i figured since you like hm a lot more than i do, you'd take care of it better than i would," overwhelmed with excitement, you grabbed connor by the neck and kissed him.
connor was taken back by the sudden kiss but awkwardly responded with another kiss as you held the magazine close to your chest, "i can't thank you enough for this connor," you whispered, your lips still on his a bit. he chuckled, "just meet me at the coffee shop near the school and that'll suffice," he replied, giving you another kiss before slowly getting up.
"now lets get to our second period before we get marked truant again," he grabbed your hand and held it as softly as possible, "you know how much shit our friends are gonna give us, right?" you said, laughing a bit. connor nodded, "nothing we can't handle," he replied as he squeezed your hand in reassurance.

PAPA BEAR R.H.
Request: I'm so happy that you want to write the request! Anywho, my idea was basically that the reader works as a nanny for Lian while Roy is off doing vigilanting. And Lian gets attached to them while Roy is busy falling for them (mostly because they love his daughter as much as he does). In other words, I crave domestic bliss and would for you to right it. Thank you so much for taking in my request! As a writer myself I know it can be quite draining. I hope you enjoy this one. Heart anon :)
Warning: fluff, mentions of sex, mentions of roy getting injured
A/N: This one was so soft I loved writing it.Â
Word Count: 3.8k
Roy Harper moved into the apartment complex only a couple of months after you had. He and his daughter weren't the quietest of neighbors, but they were always kind nonetheless. You could hear their laughter early in the morning when walking by their door to work and the thumping of them running around to play.
Within the first month of him moving in, he knocked on your door twice. The first time was actually his daughter, Lian, who left a quiet knock. You barely heard it and when you couldn't see anyone through the peek hole - you opened it to find the cutest little girl with a smile on her face staring up at you.
She introduced herself to you, and mentioned that she and her father had seen you several times in the building. Roy popped his head out of his home only moments later with worry filling him. You waved at his appearance and quickly put together that Lian snuck out to see you.
He was ready to get mad for having Lian talk to strangers, even if you did seem like a good person. The sound of her giggle as you called Roy "angry papa bear" stopped him from doing so. It was a silly joke, but having Lian smile and laugh like that made it impossible to be mad.
That was the first time that you met them.
Almost exactly a week later they showed up again. The pair stood side by side with a container in hand. Lian wanted to make cookies for 'the pretty next-door neighbour' and Roy found himself wanting to meet you again, for longer than just a couple minutes that time.
From that moment on Lian couldn't stop talking about you. She was always trying to convince her father to go over so that she could play with you. The three of your spent hours together. Going for ice cream, pizza nights, every little kid's dream. There were countless times that Roy apologized for taking up so much of your time, but the change was pleasant.
Your first impression of Roy was right, he was a big papa bear. It seemed he dedicated his life to his daughter. Always sought for the best, always trying to make the best life for her. There was nothing more that he wanted than for her to be happy.
Roy asked you to babysit Lian one night. It was clear he was in a rush and had no other options. Though you hadn't planned to be left alone with a four-year-old that evening, you couldn't say no to Roy. Whatever he had to do, clearly it was important by how frantic he was.
So, Lian ended up in your living room, cuddled up on the couch with you and a movie playing on the TV. She was eager to spend time with you, but you couldn't help but be worried about why Roy was in such a need to drop his child off with you and run. He had never acted like that before.
"Do you know where your dad went?" curiosity had finally gotten the best of you. Lian was barely awake in your arms. It was late at night and Roy hadn't made any notice of when he was going to be back - not that you minded watching her for the whole night but where could he possibly be?
"I'm not really supposed to tell you, but," Lian looked around the room as if to check if anyone appeared in the room within the last two minutes. She gestured for you to lower down to her level and cupper her little hands around your ear. "Daddy saves the world, he goes by Arsenal." Her pronunciation of his hero name came out slurred, though you could clearly understand. "He's a superhero."
It was easy to guess she was joking at first. Every little kid looked up to their parents as heroes. She couldn't have been any different. However, the longer you thought about it the more you realized she was telling the truth. Roy avoided wearing T-shirts around you and the times that he did you couldn't help but notice the scars on his skin.
His quick reaction time whenever you nearly dropped something was impeccable, and he always seemed to notice the smallest details from a mile away. Maybe it was possible that Roy, the big angry papa bear was Arsenal. You wouldn't know until you asked him - a conversation that he was surely going to avoid.
Lian fell asleep on you before you could ask any more questions. Apparently, you took too long to comment on her revelation. Roy, as Arsenal? You heard a little bit about the hero, but nothing as much as Batman or Superman. He used to work with Green Arrow, went off to fight the world by himself - sort of.
That was about as much as you knew of Arsenal. It was a rare occasion to know more about the man under the mask than in it. If she was evening speaking the truth - then again what reason did she have to lie?
By the time the movie was over, you were nearly asleep right alongside Lian. The little girl hadn't stirred since she fell asleep. A knock at your front door jolted you awake. By the erratic tapping, you were sure it was Roy. Light from the hall poured into the room when he opened it after your welcome.
Your finger was held up to your lips to tell him to be quiet. It was already so late in the night and you didn't want Lian to wake. Roy sat down in the chair across from you. He winced, as if his muscles had been overworked - or if he had taken several hits too many. The bright light of the TV shone on his face, illuminating the dark bruise that was starting to form under his eye.
"I can't thank you enough for watching over her," Roy told you. "How was she?"
"An angel, like always," your smoothed down some of her hairs that had been sticking up. A sleepy smile was stuck on her face.
"She likes you, a lot," Roy looked exhausted. It was clear that he wanted to go to bed and pass out. The one reason that he was chatting was to be polite. "You know, the day that she came over for the first time, she had been bugging me all morning to go see 'the pretty lady next door'."
"Well I can't complain that she took matters into her own hands. Who knows how long it would have taken you," you grinned. Even in the dark light you could see the flush rise to his cheeks. He was an attractive man - and you often times wondered what happened to Lian's mother. Was she still in the picture? Were they married? Did she know about Arsenal?
"Lian told me something pretty interesting tonight, Roy," you cleared your throat. It might not have been the best time to address the issue, but you would surely lose the courage if you waited any longer. "She said that you run off at night being a superhero. Arsenal, to be exact."
"You know kids, always with their crazy stories," Roy was quick to try and cover up Lian's exposure. He was taken aback that his kid was so quick to spill secrets - they had gone over it dozens of times - she couldn't tell anyone. Even the pretty neighbour who they saw nearly every day.
"Cut the crap," you stared at his bruise. Roy let out a defeated breath. He ran his hands down his face - less than half a year of knowing you and you had already found out his secret. Oliver wouldn't be impressed. "You don't have to lie to me, you can trust me. Clearly, you do, or you wouldn't have left Lian with me for the whole night."
"She shouldn't have told you."
"I'm glad she did." Lian shuffled against your side. Her arm that was tucked into her chest stretched across you like she was giving you a hug. Roy smiled at the gesture. "I was worried about you tonight. You left in a rush and I didn't know what had happened to you. Lian was worried too.
"I won't tell anyone if you're worried," you assured. "Actually I'm kinda glad to hear that your scars are from being Arsenal not something like being in a gang." Roy chuckled at your confession.
"You're taking this all quite well." You shrugged. It always seemed like he had a secret or two, you just weren't expecting something like this. "Thank you, for understanding - and for taking care of Lian. I really appreciate it."
"Anytime, Roy."
><
Roy took full advantage of you knowing his secret. He didn't need to come up with some lie on where he was going or why. Instead, he could drop Lian off at your door with a simple "gotta go" and you'd understand that the world was in trouble. Roy was grateful for you, for understanding and to be so willing to help him take care of Lian.
It wasn't just babysitting anymore, you were nearly just as big of a part of raising Lian as he was. She looked forward to seeing you each time, never did she feel like it was something that she had to do. They both looked up to you.
A hot Saturday afternoon, after a night of wreckage that you and Lian had created in your apartment, Roy decided to take you both out for ice cream. He had come back to your home to find that every blanket and cushion in your apartment had been pulled out to make a massive fort that covered your entire living room. The mattress from your bed had been pulled off and was surrounded by blankets.
Although your home was a mess, he found the both of you asleep with the title scene of Lian's favourite movie on. Crumbs of cookies were scattered everywhere, along with half-eaten plates of french fries. Clearly, the both of you had a wild night and Roy couldn't bring himself to wake either of you.
Lian had talked about her night all morning the next day and how much she loved to spend time with you. Roy thought it to be the perfect opportunity to take you out for an afternoon you deserved. It wasn't much, but the thought was there and you appreciated his efforts.
There was a small, pop up ice-cream shop in the park Lian adored. It was her favourite place to get ice cream because she could sit on the park bench and watch all the ducks in the pond. Her little mind was still so pure and the quacks of the baby ducks had her a giggling mess.
Each of her hands were held in yours and Roy's. She's do a running start before getting the both of you to swing her up into the air. Your arms were tired by the time that she finally had enough of the movement - unlike Roy who seemed perfectly fine. Using that bow of his left his arms huge.
"What kind of ice cream are you going to get?" You asked Lian. She hummed, deep in thought like it was the toughest decision he would ever have to make in her life.
"Chocolate!" She finally decided on. Roy chuckled at the answer, it was what she got every time they went out for ice cream. He tickled her sides for a moment before hoisting her up onto his shoulders. Lian's arms stuck out like she was an airplane and the smile never left her face.
Roy was a great dad, that was easy to tell. It was hard not to be attracted to the fatherly side of him. He seemed like a different person when he was with his kid and when he was talking to you about the stress of the life he lived. Lian had really brought you both together and you were quick to call him one of your closest friends.
Many nights he would come over after Lian was asleep just to hang out with you. It was refreshing talking to someone outside the Titans. Not to mention that he adored how you cared for his daughter. In the year that you had known them, you took her in like she was your own. Even her own mother couldn't achieve that love anymore.
You reminded him of the life he could have, if he ever wanted to get out of the hero game. Settle down with Lian, have the white picket fence life that he always mocked for years. Would it really be that bad? To live without worrying whether or not he was going to make it out alive the next day? To find someone that he could love?
Your phone rang just as you were about to reach the ice cream shop. It wasn't uncommon for your boss to call you on the weekend, however whenever he did it was usually important. "I'm sorry, I have to answer this, I'll just be a minute." Roy nodded in understatement. He knew the burden of responsibilities more than anyone.
"Daddy?" Lian spoke. Roy grabbed her once more and lifted her back down to the ground. He knelt down to her level so that she didn't have to look up. "If you're my papa bear," she hadn't started to use that term until you started referring to Roy with it. "Does that make (Y/N) mama bear?"
Roy was taken aback by her comment. Although he knew that you and Lian were very close, he never expected she would look up to you as her own mother. Jade wasn't in Lian's life anymore, and she was far too young to remember what she was like. You had been the closest thing to a mother in Lian's life.
The more he thought about it, the more he was glad to have you as a mother fill in for Lian. It wasn't just the will to take care of her when Roy dropped her off, you went above and beyond to make her life good. Lian wasn't a burden that had been shoved into your life because of knowing a secret, she was a blessing.
Just as you were a blessing in Roy's life.
Roy was grateful for the nights that you stayed up with him, talking, listening, whatever he needed you were there. It was so easy to open up to you, more than Dick or Donna or anyone on the team. You didn't have to be there for him, you choose to be because you wanted to be.
You baked cookies with Lian on a Sunday morning because you wanted to. You helped to bandage Roy up after a hard night because you wanted to. You cooked supper for them both when Roy was having trouble to keep up with his life because of being Arsenal because you wanted to, not because you needed to.
Being part of his life was sudden, but you wouldn't want it any other way. And truth was, Roy wasn't sure if he could keep up both of his lives without your help.
><
"I didn't think she was ever going to fall asleep." You fell down on the couch next to Roy. He called you over when Lian refused to fall asleep unless it was you putting her to bed. She requested story after story and wouldn't settle until you promised that you would come over again to make pancakes in the morning.
His arms stretched along the back of the couch and as you leaned your head back you rested on him. Eyes shut, lips parted, Roy didn't notice that he was staring until you let out a sigh. He couldn't stop thinking about Lian's comment. It was clear that she looked up to you as a mother, but did you feel the same?
Or more so, did you only care about Lian, and not him? It couldn't be. You spent nearly just as much time with Roy as you did his daughter. The moment that they walked into your life you were consumed by them. It was hard not to be, they added so much joy.
"Did she get you to promise to come back in the morning again?" Roy asked. Without opening your eyes, you nodded. He wasn't surprised.
"I may as well live here at this point, the only time I'm ever in my own home is to sleep," you joked. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, to live with Roy and Lian. You were more than just a babysitter, you were practically family. Roy knew everything about you, and you him. Living together almost seemed normal.
"I'd like that," Roy confessed. He had full intentions to say that Lian would like it if you were to move in. The idea of it probably had him just as excited as his daughter would be.
"Would you?" You cocked an eyebrow. He wanted that excuse to spend more time with you, to be with you. Throughout the year you grew to love Lian, he had completely fallen in love with you, without even realizing it. You made his family feel complete once more. You made him feel complete.
Roy wanted to wake up with you every morning. He wanted to sit around and drink coffee while Lian told you both about her dreams that night. He wanted to come home after a long night's mission to find you cuddled up in his bed, half asleep and waiting for him. Roy wanted to have a life with you.
You looked over at him, waiting for his response. His pale skin was tinged pink, eyes filled with worry of rejection. Worried that you loathed the idea, or more so, didn't feel the same way about him.
How could you? Roy had managed to steal your heart right alongside Lian. You missed his presence when he wasn't around, and when you were together the time spend never seemed long enough.
"(Y/N), I..." Roy tried to grasp the words that were right at the tip of his tongue. He wanted to tell her that this past year of knowing her had been the best year of his life. He never wanted to lose this happiness that he had with you. Instead, he stuttered over his words, flustered. "Fuck."
Roy's palms grasped your cheeks. He gave you just a moment to express if you didn't want this, a moment too long. Your lips were needy against his, this moment had far too long waited for either of you. Your fingers threaded through the hair on the back of his head, keeping him close against you.
His arm snaked around you, gesturing for you to lower yourself on the couch. Not once did he break the kiss to hover over you, trapping you beneath his frame. Any exhaustion that you had was wiped away entirely. Every nerve in your body was lit up from his touch.
"Stay with me?" Roy asked. He gave you no time to answer, his lips back on yours the second that he was done asking his question. You couldn't leave, not when you already couldn't get enough of him. His lips, his touch, everything, it wasn't enough.
"Yes," you latched onto the hem of his shirt, tugging it up until he got the hint to take it off completely. "Your room. Now."
><
You and Roy were up far earlier than Lian the next morning.
Even though your night had been long you still found yourself excited to wake up the next morning. You were excited to wake up next to him. Limbs draped over you, warm breath at the back of your neck. Light kisses left against your bare skin as Roy awoke shortly after you did.
Your brief time in bed that morning was short. The last thing that you needed was Lian walking in on the both of you naked. So, you had gotten up to keep with your promise to her. Pancakes.
"Didn't know you were the clingy kind, Harper. Not that I'm complaining," you joked. He barely took his hands off you all morning. Holding you flat against his chest as you cooked breakfast, soft kisses that warmed you completely. "Go wake up Lian, everything's ready and you know she doesn't like cold pancakes."
Roy kissed you again before doing as he was told. His lips lingering, wondering if he needed the extra few minutes with you before Lian joined you. You pressed against his chest to make the decision for him. He had gotten more than enough love the past ten hours to need just a moment more.
He returned moments later, arms full with Lian. She got excited when noticing you with a plate full of pancakes. Roy set her down in her chair before taking a seat on his own. You kissed the top of her head, then his.
"I could get used to this," Roy spoke with his mouth full. Lian scolded him, her finger shaking at him and a pout on her face. He swallowed before continuing. "If you were serious about your offer last night."
It was a big jump for the both of you, even if it was true that you had basically been living together for quite a while now. He wasn't worried about Lian disagreeing with the idea, she would love it. In fact, he was sure that if she knew about the offer there was no possibility of you saying no.
You grabbed Roy's hand from under the table. Moving in wasn't something that you needed to rush. Being right next door, it was easy to see each other whenever anyways. Rushing something that you wanted to last was never the safest option, and you wanted whatever the hell you had going on with Roy Harper to last a lifetime.
"I was," you answered. "One day."

Invisible String (11/?)
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female reader (Modern AU)
Word Count: 2.3k words
Warning : fluff, angst, shitty Steve, Donât ask me why I make Steve so unlikable in every thing I write( PS Iâm still mad at endgame Steve), mention of sex
If someone had told you that you would wake up snuggled to your boss â naked â you would have told them to fuck off and leave you alone. Not that the idea of James in your bed was repulsive, no, it was actually quite the opposite. You wanted him so much that it scared you because he â well, he was so gorgeous, and you were you. And he even looked better lying in your bed while the sunlight peaked onto his face from the window, making his stubble and hair appear golden-ish. Even as hard his exterior was, everything about him, mostly sleeping in your bed, appeared soft.Â
âYou know, watching people while they sleep is kinda creepy,â James said, his voice gruff from sleep and you felt heat rushing through your body. God, his morning voice was so hot. It took a second for your brain to register his words and when it did, you moved your gaze away from him.
âYouâre beautiful,â you blurted out. You could feel him rumbling as he rubbed his still sleep-dazed eyes.
He gently lifted his hand to place it on your face, caressing your cheek softly with his knuckles as he said, âYou are beautiful."
You jokingly rolled your eyes and shifted your face slightly to plant a kiss on the inside of his palm. âDonât you have a club to run?âÂ
âThe club can wait,â Buckyâs hand trailed off from your face to your waist and he flipped you, situating you on his lap and kissed you lazily while his hands roamed around your body.Â
***
Bucky felt like he was dreaming, he felt as if any moment youâll slip out of his grasp and he would have to wake up. This was too good to be true, you were too good to be true. After an incredible morning, which included him pounding into you in your bed and then on the kitchen worktop and then in the shower. He couldnât keep his hands to himself, he needed to touch you â feel you â make sure you were here with him safe.Â
It wasnât just sex, it was so intimate that it felt so much more. The time when he wasnât buried inside you, youâd talk about everything. He told you that when he was a kid, he loved baking. His mom worked, so he spent most of his time helping his sister with her new hobby. Rebecca soon grew out of it, but Bucky didnât. He told you heâd love to open a bakery in a foreign country.
âYou know, we can go to Europe,â you suggested. âYou can open a bakery and maybe some chocolate whiff is all I need to break out from my writing slump.â
Buckyâs heart ached at your confession, he was delighted to know that he wasnât the only one that was fantasizing about a future with you. He had never told his ambitions to anyone, mainly because when he did tell someone, they laughed at him. His career and exterior did not match his dreams, and soon those dreams died. But you made him desire that peaceful life. He wanted peace and tranquility in his life with you. Maybe tomorrow he would wake up and realize that this was some dream, and he was alone in his apartment and not in your bed.Â
âHave you thought of a name yet?â you asked, âFor the bakery.â
âDid you recall that song you were humming?â
âNo,â you said, âBut Iâm sure it will make a great bakery name.â
You curled up into his chest, you were almost asleep. He kissed the top of your head, refusing to succumb to sleep, holding you tightly so that even if this was an elaborate fantasy that his mind had conjured, he was adamant to still make the most of it.
***
After leaving your house to get ready for work, that's when he finally realized that this was real. You were his, and he was yours in a sense that no amount of words could comprehend. You hadnât put any official labels on your relationship, but the way you moaned his name and breathlessly whispered, âIâm yours. All yours.â multiple times in his ears was enough.
Bucky hated when people called him James, it reminded him of his father, but the way you said his name with adoration filled in your eyes and tone made him content. You made him feel content and happy with everything you did without even realizing it. Bucky hoped he could do the same for you â make you feel at peace.
âIâve been calling you since morning,â Steve commented the moment Bucky entered his office. He eyed the group of people â Steve, Sam, Clint, Pietro, Wanda, and Peter in his office before exhaling. Although Bucky was their boss, that didn't deter them from treating him like the friend he was. He didnât mind that either, these people gave him a sense of belonging â a family, and he would give his life for them just like they would for him.
âI was asleep,â Bucky lied. And of course, his friends didnât buy it.
âI came by your place this morning. You weren't there sleeping,â Steve retorted. He didnât like how his best friend who he saw as a brother was hiding things from him.Â
Fuck, Bucky thought. Admittedly, he wasn't at his place, he was at yours. He didnât know what to say when six sets of eyes were looking at him expectantly. He couldnât tell the truth, he wasn't a kiss-and-tell kind of guy. He wanted to avoid telling because you met these people every day, and it would become awkward for you; but mostly he didnât want anyone to find out because it was so new for him that he was scared to even mention your relationship, terrified of jinxing it.Â
Just when he was about to muster up an excuse, a soft knock on his office door snapped everyoneâs attention towards the entrance. Buckyâs relief was short-lived the moment he realized it couldnât be anyone except you. Now everyone was looking at Bucky impatiently, waiting for him to respond.Â
If it were anyone else Bucky would have asked them to go away, but it was you. You were knocking at his door. He wanted to see you, see the marks hidden behind the concealer or collar when he sucked your neck a little too hard the previous night and this morning. Mainly, he wanted to see you.
âCome in,â He said, ignoring the stares his friends were giving him. His breath hitched at your sight, you were really breathtaking. You weren't looking at him or anyone in the room. No, you were holding two coffees and a bag of donuts in your hand. Your eyes were focused and you were looking inside the bag, searching for a dish to put his donut in, when you said, âI knew you'd skip breakfast after you left this morning. I brought you -âÂ
âY/N,â Wanda cut you off.
Bucky internally thanked Wanda because he didnât have it in him to stop you from speaking. And thatâs when you finally looked up and were met with seven people staring at you. Sam, Wanda, and Pietro were looking at you with a smirk on their face. Peter looked down at his feet. Clint was clueless and confused. Steve wasnât looking at you, he was staring at his best pal who lied to him about his whereabouts. And Buckyâs eyes were fixed on you and when yours landed on his, he smiled at you and shook his head, telling you that he got you.
âWhat are you doing here, Y/N? Your shift doesnât start till night,â Pietro informed, he was clearly teasing you. And soon a sense of understanding came to Clintâs senses when he joined the dots and his eyes widened before a smirk formed on his lips.
âI⌠I,â you stuttered. Your brain couldn't come up with an excuse this quickly. Bucky opened his mouth to say something, but you raised your hands and the packet of donuts with it and excitedly said, âI brought doughnuts!â
âThank you!â Bucky exclaimed, swiftly walking towards you, taking the donuts from your hand, and placing it on the table. He draped his arm around your waist before leading you outside his office. His friends knew now, he wasnât going to tone down the PDA in front of them. He just didn't want you to feel awkward or under anyone's subjection.
âIâm sorry. I didnât know,â you started once you were away from everyone. âI wouldnât have if I knew -â
Buckyâs lips landed on yours, stopping your rambling. His arms snaked around your waist, pushing you flush against his chest, and you wrapped your hands around his neck. âIt wasnât your fault,â he mumbled adjacent to your lips and you sighed in relief.
âI just wanted to bring you breakfast since we couldnât have it,â you pouted, flusteredly thinking about the morning activities that stopped you from having breakfast.
Bucky beamed down at you and planted another soft kiss on your lips. âHow about I make it up to you at lunch,â he suggested, âI'll bake something for you too.â
You nodded excitedly and were about to leave when Bucky gently took your wrist in his hand. âDoll, text me when you reach home, yeah?â
***
Bucky dreaded going back into his office, he knew he would be bombarded with questions and knowing smirks. He decided to rip off the band and entered the office. âOkay, go for it, ask away.â
âHow long has this been going on?â Steve was the first one to question.
âI mean, officially since last night.â
Sam was about to drop a snarky comment when Pietro chimed in. âWho asked who out?âÂ
âI asked her out,â Bucky answered, and was bewildered. âWhy is that important?âÂ
âI knew it!â Wanda cheered and raised her hand, palms up, towards the blond. âPay up,â Pietro grumbled before handling her sister 20 dollars.
âYou guys bet on us?â Bucky asked and was met with amused snickers from everyone except Steve. Peter stepped forwards before saying, âI had no part in this, Mr. Barnes.â
The twins rolled their eyes before Steve interjected another one of Samâs almost snippy comments. âShe is the reason you attacked Rumlow, isn't she?â
Sam raised his hands in frustration and turned towards his husband. âCome on, babe. You just had to ruin the fun.â
Bucky exhaled and answered honestly, âYes, but I canât tell you why. You just have to take my word for it and trust me that he deserved it.â
âBuck, Iâm not saying I donât trust you, but you have to understand where my fear is coming from,â Steve said, âI know Rumlow and I know he's planning something big. We have to be careful. You can't be distracted by this girl, pal.â
Bucky was furious. He did not expect his best bud to say that. Steve knew how much Bucky pinned for you, he knew how much Bucky wanted you. How could he just say that about you after knowing all of this? âThatâs rich coming from you after you told me to be happy.â
Bucky huffed in disbelief, his voice filled with venom. âWell, guess what, pal? She makes me happy.â
Nobody dared to intervene between the childhood friends. Everyone knew that Steve was saying stupid shit out of concern, but Bucky couldnât see it. Bucky would fight anyone for you, even his best pal.
âYou attacked our enemy because of this girl that youâve been with since what â a day?â Steve scoffed sarcastically, and Buckyâs breath was drawn and his fists balled.
âI attacked him because he-â Bucky cursed himself and inhaled sharply. He couldnât do this to you, it wasn't his decision to tell. You had decided that nobody would find out about what Rumlow did to you, not even cops, and Bucky respected your decision. He wouldnât do this to you, especially not out of anger and in front of multiple people you didn't even know.
Before Steve could say something, Buckyâs phone vibrated on the table. A text, Bucky assumed it was you, informing him that you had reached home. You â thinking about you made him take a breath and calmed him a bit. He decided he would text you in the privacy of his office, after his friends would leave. He would text you back or better call you when he wasnât fuming with rage at his best friend, then he would take you out on a lunch date.Â
Bucky was about to reach for his phone when Clint finally spoke up, âSteve, we will be careful, okay? We will contact our sources and find out about Rumlowâs plan.â
All the heads present in the office accepted this decision. Sam scolded Steve and Bucky and made them hug out their issues like kindergarteners. Peter offered to make a drink and everyone made their way downstairs towards the bar, leaving the office and Buckyâs phone unattended.
What Bucky didnât know was that Rumlowâs plan was already in action, in reality, he had even succeeded in his plan.
If Bucky had checked his phone, then he would have realized it wasn't a text from you, instead, it was a text from an unknown number with an attached photo. The picture was of you tied to a chair, your eyes half-lidded with drugs and tears, and a bruise forming on your left cheek.

Karma's a bitch - (Emily Sonnett x reader)
This one is slightly different. Reader is a YouTuber with a popular channel called On The Wildside. The chapter switches behind let's say "real life" and then to "recorded clips". So it might be a bit weird and difficult but hopefully it makes sense. Hope you enjoy!!!
"What! Is! Up! My Wilders! Welcome back to the Wildside" I say my intro as I hold up my camera to record myself. I smirk as I spin around as I continue, "And for today's video you are going to see me get my revenge on my girlfriend!"
Along with being a personal trainer for high paying clients, I also run a popular lifestyle and fitness Channel on YouTube which had amassed over a million followers. I usually posted fitness videos and just daily lifestyle vlogs along with soccer challenges with the occasional prank video. It was through my channel I had actually met my girlfriend.
I had gotten in touch with the Portland Thorns to do a video with them for my channel as part of a series I had started, aiming to play all of the NWSL teams in a series of challenges. And she just happened to be one of the players involved in the video.
She was also the one who hit me in the back of the head with a miss kicked soccer ball.
And that's how I met Emily Sonnett.
After that day we kept in touch and with me going to watch her games with the thorns and even meeting up again to do a few more videos with the national team until she eventually asked me out, with much persuasion from her teammates.
And now we have been together for a long time just managing with the long distance. Until she got traded to Washington. And while she was sad to not be at the thorns, on the upside we got to move in together.
Which had both it's positives and negatives.
"So if you have seen the most recent videos or even my Instagram posts. You will know that Em has kinda gone mad with the pranks lately. She got me at Christmas with wrapping my entire office with wrapping paper".
*Emily fumbles with the camera before it eventually focuses on her face*
She gives the camera a toothy smile, "Hey guys!" She starts to walk around causing the camera to blur slightly but can just make our the main image. "So obviously Y/n isn't here today. She's out with a client at the moment and won't be back until later. So I decided to help her get into the Christmas spirit with a little prank".
Flips the camera to show Y/n's office. "So with the help of a few friends" .
*pans the camera to show Kelley and a few other teammates*
"We're going to wrap everything in her room with wrapping paper!"
*Time lapse fast forwarded to show them wrapping her entire room*
"So Y/n is after texting me saying she'll be home soon and she is bringing me dinner which almost makes me feel bad". Emily pauses and looks down the camera, "Almost". She grins at the camera, "So I'm going to set up one of her cameras in her office to film her reaction and yeah hopefully she's like it". She cackles before it transitions to the next clip.
*Shows a clip of Y/n walking into her office only to freeze in the doorway when she sees the room*
Y/n throws her head back with a groan, "Emily!" You can hear the sound of Emily laughing in the background before she appears in the doorway with a wide grin across her face.
"Merry Christmas!" The blonde giggles as Y/n picks up a book that was wrapped. Y/n quirked an eyebrow at her, "You got me everything I already own?"Â The camera shakes slightly due to her nodding and laughing, "You get the gift of opening them all over again?"Â Y/n sighs before she spots something spherical over the in the corner.
"You wrapped my exercise ball? How?"
"With great difficulty"
Y/n licks her lips too tired to even argue. She tears off the wrapping paper off the chair before sitting down. She groans with her head in her hands before looking up at the blonde holding the camera.
"I hate you so much"
"I love you too".
She slumps in her chair as she looks around the room. "I'm too tired to do anything about this" . She glares back at the blonde, "Why would you even do this?" "Cause I love you?" In response to that Y/n scrunches up the wrapping paper into a ball and throws it at her.
"I'm still pissed at her for that by the way. She used all our wrapping paper and it took me forever to find my stuff she moved" Y/n sighs into the camera. "She also put a load of plastic cups filled with water around our bedroom while I was sleeping. But that ended up backfiring on her".
*A fast forwarded time lapse of Emily covering the floor of their bedroom with cups of water as well as any flat surfaces so Y/n couldn't climb on anything. She holds up 3 fingers and counts down to the camera before blowing an air horn causing Y/n to shot up in the bed*
Y/n peaks her head out from under the blanket only to see Emily giggling with the camera. She looks around confused before spoting all the cups. She groans loudly, "For fuck sake Em". She narrows her eyes at the blonde, "You have way too much free time if this is what your doing".
Y/n grabs a few of the cups and purposely empties them over Emily's stuff. "Hey!" The blonde shouts but Y/n just gives her a look, "What? You come in here and stop me? Be my guest". Emily groans dramatically, "I didn't think this through".
"Did you even think at all?"
"Hurtful"
Y/n clears a few of the cups without making too much of a mess. She sighs as she rubs her eyes, "It's too early for this shit Emily". She points at the defender holding the camera, "I hope you know your cleaning this shit up". Emily chuckles behind the camera.
Y/n looks up on the doorframe where her pull up bar is stuck. She looks between herself and the bar before smirking. "Y/n don't-" Emily starts but it falls on deaf ears. As Y/n bends her knees and make the long jump and grabs onto the bar. Her momentum swings her forward to where Emily is standing.
*In an attempt to soften the hit, Y/n wraps her legs around her waist making sure she doesn't fall. But in doing so she dropped the camera with a grunt causing the screen to blackout*
"And one of the worst ones was when she went away for a match and hid a bunch of alarm clocks around our bedroom which were all set to different times in the morning. Leaving me to wake up every little while to find the bloody things".
*Short clips of Y/n sleeping in the dark bedroom only for an alarm clock to blare causing Y/n to jolt in her sleep. This repeats multiple times showing different clips*
"And ever since then she's has also throw flour bombs at me, woke me up by pouring water all over me and she turned the hallway outside our bedroom into a slip and slide.
*Shows brief clip of Y/n slipping and falling on her ass*
"So I've decided to give her a taste of her own medicine!" Y/n exclaims to the camera. "So she's coming back late from a game tonight so I'm going to set up a few cameras and pretend to be mad at her and tell her I'm sleeping in the living room".
Y/n smirks at the camera, "One thing you need to know about Emily Sonnett is she loves her cuddles. Especially after a game. She's like a fricken Koala when she sleeps. She just clings onto you". She moves to set the camera down so it has a clear view of the bedroom, "And this is going to set up for my main prank for tomorrow".
"So I'm going to go set up everything. And wait until she gets home". Y/n gives a thumbs up to the camera before it times skips.
*Time has passed to show it's pretty late now. You can hear the jingling of keys before the door opens and closes. Y/n freezes before smiling at the camera and jumps up and starts gathering stuff*
Emily steps in the doorway and drops her bags. But scrunches her face when see her girlfriend isn't asleep and is in fact awake. "Y/n/n? What are you doing?" With an annoyed look on her face, Y/n looked over her shoulder before going back to gathering a blanket and a pillow, "I'm going to sleep in the living room".
Emily looks at her weird, "What? Why?" She moves to grab her hand but Y/n just pulls her arm away, "What's wrong?" Y/n just shrugs her off, "I'm going to sleep on the couch".
Emily crosses her arms upset as Y/n gathers up the last of her things, "Did something happen? Did I do something?" But Y/n just ignores her before shuffling out of the room. Emily curses quietly unaware that there's a camera in the room and that this is all a prank.
After a long sigh Emily pulls out her phone and dials quickly before holding it up to her ear. After a brief minute she starts starting
"Hey Kel did I forget an anniversary?"
*Cuts to the camera set up in their living room which is facing their couch. Y/n has a make shift bed set up as she's scrolling through her phone before she untangles herself from the blankets leaving to go to the bathroom*
After Y/n leaves a minute later you can shuffling off camera before Emily wrapped in blankets comes into view. She pauses at the couch before she jumps and flops on the couch making sure she's wrapped up in her blanket. Completely unknown that this is getting caught on camera.
A few minutes later Y/n comes back with her phone in hand. It swaps to her phones point of view as it shows a close up of Emily's face peaking out from the bundle of blanket. "What are you doing?" Y/n asked desperately trying to fight the small smile coming to her face. But Emily just smiles cutely up at her, "We're sleeping in the living room". Y/n groans quietly, "Noooo". But Emily just keeps smiling, "Together". Y/n shakes her head, "No. I am".
But Emily just ignores her and pulls the blanket back and nods towards her, "C'mon!" Y/n just sighs, "Kay fine. You sleep here and I'll sleep in the bed". Emily almost falls out of the bed trying to stop her, "Nooooo".
They have a mini staring competition before it cuts to the next frame where the two are seen cuddling on the couch with Emily lying on top of Y/n's chest.
"Okay! So last night's prank didn't go exactly how I planned" Y/n starts as she's back holding the camera. "BUT! I have something else planned!" She exclaims.
"So last night was really just meant for her to think I'm mad at her for some reason or another. Which sets up today's prank perfectly" she explains. "So I'm sure many of you have seen this one already but I'm going to put my own twist on it".
"So Emily and Kelley have gone out to train together today and then they're going to come back here to hang out" Y/n starts before smiling down at the camera, "but I'm going to pretend to just come out of the shower". She grins, "Well.... you'll see what happens".
*Camera cuts a clip of the kitchen where Emily and Kelley are. Emily is on her phone by the island while Kelley is looking through their fridge (obviously). Y/n walks in with a towel wrapped tightly around her*
Y/n walks around for a bit before Emily looks up and smiles before going back to her phone. It takes a second before Emily does a double take, eyes widen when she realizes that Y/n is supposedly only walking around in a towel.
"Y/n!" Emily gawked causing Kelley to look over and snort at the sight. Y/n just looks at her girlfriend unbothered, "What?" Emily just looks her up and down motioning to her lack of attire, "Uh!" "What?" Y/n asks frustratedly. "What are you doing?" Emily asked while Kelley just watched on amused.
"Nothing!" Y/n throws her hands up. "Get dressed" Emily says. "Why?" Y/n asks nonchalantly. "Your in a towel!" Emily says angrily. "So what?" Y/n just retorts. "Cause we have company!" Emily argues motioning to Kelley standing at the fridge who just holds her hands up in surrender.
Y/n just shrugs, "So what? It's only Kelley. She doesn't care". "I care! Only I get to see you like this!" Emily shouts angrily. Y/n runs a hand through her hair, "I don't see the problem I'm covered! I'm covered". "I don't care go get changed" Emily says sternly which is a bit weird to see from her usual happy, upbeat persona.
"She's not bothered by it" Y/n defends herself motioning her arm in Kelley's direction. "I'm bothered by it!" Sonnet claps back getting even angrier, "just go put something on".
Hiding her smirk Y/n progresses with the prank, "You know what? You know what? No. Now this". Y/n then turns her back to her girlfriend as she faces Kelley who's eyes widen substantially as Y/n untucks the towel still holding the ending with her hands.
Catching onto the joke, Kelley bursts our laughing which only fuels Emily's rage further as she stands there stunned that her girlfriend would do such a thing. "This is happening" Y/n says throwing a look back at Emily over her shoulder. "Y/n! That's not-" Emily stutters out trying to find the words.
"She's seen me like this before and so have you" Y/n says as Kelley is still gasping for breath as she laughs. "What are you-" Emily starts only to stop when Y/n drops the towel to reveal one of Y/n's dresses which she has pulled down the sleeves to hide underneath the towel.
Emily's jaw drops as Kelley falls into another fit of giggles as she leans against the island. "Gotcha!" Y/n grins. Emily's mouth opened and closed several times but no words came out as she just stuttered unintelligently, "Uh I um?" Y/n moves to pick up the camera and hold it in front of Emily, "Say Hi to the internet Babe".
If at all possible, Emily's cheeks flushed even darker, "You recorded all this?!" Y/n hummed contently, "And last night". Emily leans back against the island and slides down to the floor, "Last night! That was a prank?" Y/n giggles, "Yup!" Emily slumps back, "Thank god! I thought you were pissed at me! I thought I forgot an anniversary or something!"
There is some shuffling and a bit of blurry imagines before it shows Y/n sitting on the ground beside Emily as she grins, "Nah. Just payback for all the pranks you've pulled on me recently". Emily buried her face in her girlfriend's shoulder letting out a small, "I'm sorry" although it came out muffled.
Y/n leans her cheek on Emily's head, "It's okay. But just remember next time you prank me, remember how I got you back". "Emily pouted at her girlfriend, "Fine. No more pranks". Y/n smiled as she pressed a kiss to the top of her blonde crown. But of course Kelley had to interrupt.
"If there is ever a prank war, I'm calling Y/n for my team".
Emily growled at her teammate as she koala hugged her girlfriend's side, "No!" Y/n giggled as she shrugged at Kelley, "Sorry Kels I'm taken". "Damn right you are" Emily mumbles as she presses herself even further into Y/n's embrace.
Y/n smiled as she holds up the camera, "Well that's it for my revenge pranks back on my girlfriend. If you want to see the full videos of Emily's pranks on me, I'll leave them in the description. Comment below for any videos you would like to see". "No more prank videos" Emily whined at the camera causing the other two to laugh before Y/n finished her outro. "Well that's it for now. Until next time. Peace out Wilders!"

New Normal
Pairing: Yandere!Tubbo x Reader (with some Ranboo)
Request: we need more yandere tubbo i absolutely love the way you wrote him shdhhfjd........ maybe a short fic or some headcanons elaborating on "waking up in the mansion one day"? maybe the reader gets more afraid than going along with it .. I'd love to see ranboos aspect regarding tubbos behavior as well đ
Word count: 2.3 k
Warning: yandere, kidnapping, drugging
A/n: This is all platonic. Nothing romantic. Also this was meant to be short not this long oh lord.
The night had been unforgiving to you as of late. Every night you felt like you were being watched over. It was so weird. It didnât matter if the windows were open or not. Or even if they had blinds over them. Your paranoia was being fed by every noise emanating from the darkness. Now you werenât afraid of the dark, never had been. But now, oh god the dark was terrifying. The unknown of the dark scared you. Anything could be hiding in there. And with this new âadmirerâ of yours, your newfound fear of the shadows was being fed a damn feast. The last straw for you was when you came home one night and saw your window broken and front door open. It spooked you too much; what if they were still inside? You couldnât risk that.
Thatâs how you found yourself in Tubboâs house, on his couch, hunched over and shaking over a cup of tea. You donât remember why you came here, in all honesty. There were so many other people you could have chosen that were more than capable of protecting you. There was Sam, Bad, Sapnap, even Technoblade. Yet you still went to Tubbo. He was a comforting presence for you. And you just really wanted some comfort for this new fear of yours. Is this what I child felt when they were scared of the dark and needed a flashlight? God now you feel so bad for making fun of little kids for needing those.
âHey are you okay,â a hand just fucking attacks your shoulder and you wip around. Oh god what if the guy got you now- wait itâs just Tubbo. Wow you overreacted there. Your swift actions shocked Tubbo, making him take a few steps away from you. He held his hands up in the air; an attempt to show he meant no harm to you. But you were just relieved at the sight of Tubbo.
âI donât know,â a lump was forming in your throat. The tea isn't helping at all. You were so upset that you couldnât even tell what flavor it was. Nor did you ask Tubbo, but that didnât matter. Only distractions mattered now; a way to get your mind off of the paranoid thoughts. âI think I amâ. Your grip on the cup tightened. Some of that was you trying to ground yourself, but another part of it was just tension. It was becoming harder to breathe and you had no idea why. There wasnât a reason. Start breathing normally again- uh what was that breathing exercise?
Tubbo came around the couch and sat by your side. âHey, can you look at me really quick?â He grabbed your hands and you looked at him. Somehow looking into his eyes made it harder to breathe. âOkay now repeat after me- wait not repeat. Uh, do what I do. Ready?â
You didnât get a chance to reply before he started. âOkay take a deep breath with me. In through the mouth for five and out the nose for four. In for five, out for four.â A small pattern formed from the mantra. Something about the exercise was extremely comforting, but you were never sure on what it was. Well you knew it had to do with slowing your breathing and helping you focus, but you felt like there was something else to it. There had to be something else to it. Why else would it be able to calm you so well right now?
It took a while, but you finally calmed down. Well, âcalmed downâ being a relative term. You were tired and numb inside. Your attention was completely focused on the flames in the hearth. They were mesmerizing. Happily dancing away, illuminating the room.
You hadnât realized what was happening. All you remember is looking at Tubbo and then everything just became blurry. The sting of tears stung your eyes. Oh, you were about to cry again. Thatâs so annoying, stupid. You had just calmed down and yet youâre still crying. Craving human contact must be a symptom of sadness or some shit because you looked at Tubbo for comfort. And he gave you exactly that; opening his arms to give you a hug. Without a second thought, you essentially flew into his arms. He accepted you immediately and held you close. The tears that had once been contained by a damn once again ran free. Slowly you grew tired. Oh how you despised the act of crying and how it drained you so. A little nap wouldnât hurt.

The sunbeams were attacking you and it hurt so much. So bright, demanding. You didnât want to get up. Sleepiness still held you captive, flowed through your body like the very blood you had. Yet the light was relentless, attacking your closed eyes through itâs armor. A valiant effort was made to stay asleep and keep the sunlight out of your eyes. But it was futile. Rolling over did nothing but illicit noise and made you mildly uncomfortable. When you finally gave in, you just stared blankly at the wall.
For a wall, it was pretty. Kinda. It was plain but a stylish kind of plain. A timeless look. It took ages to finally muster the energy to even sit up, but you still did. The view changed yet it didnât at the same time. It was pretty empty in the room. Three doorways, two next to each other on your right and one on your left, a bed, some curtains, a small nightstand, and a bookshelf. Other than that, there was a ton of open space.
Once you regained some more consciousness, you slipped out of bed. There was a jingle, but you didnât really pay attention to it. You definitely heard it, you just thought something fell on the floor. Whatever it was could wait. The unexplored room was just waiting for exploration, though you could have easily explored it from your bed because of how empty it was. When you got to one of the doors, you slowly opened it to reveal a closet. It was absolutely filled with clothes you liked. Or some you were missing. Didnât you own that shirt at home? And that one too? Huh, what a coincidence. Pretty cool.
Not even two steps away from the closet was another door, which you also slowly opened. Didnât want to hit anyone. Through that door was a bathroom. It was pretty big and pretty. Very shiny and clean. There were some care products in there, some shampoo and conditioner. But you stopped yourself from looking too much. You didnât want to snoop. It was rather rude to do.
Grogley you turn toward the last mystery door. It was all the way on the other side of the room. Man you werenât awake enough for this. Yawning, you start your way to the other doorway. That must be the way back to the rest of the mansion. Sadly you didnât get far. Not even halfway there before you were stopped. More accurately tripped. Something made your foot slip from underneath, making you fall onto your stomach. Everything ached, but your ankle felt weird. It was a different pain. When you tried to pull it closer to examine it, something stopped it and the sound of metal hitting itself rang across the room. You nearly give yourself whiplash from how quickly you turn your head.
A metal cuff clung onto your ankle which in turn was connected to a tense chain. At the other end of the chain was one of the bedposts. Specifically the one closest to the closet and bathroom. Thatâs odd. Okay now whatâs going on here? Oh did Tubbo do this to make you feel more secure? Well it was and wasnât working all at the same time. Because who puts an ankle chain on somebody?
A knock interrupted your thoughts. From your spot on the floor, you whipped your head back around to the last mystery door. You stayed quiet, wondering if you were just imagining noises. But another knock soon came. It was undeniable, very pronounced and purposeful. Whoever was out there- what could they be here for. Panic started to overtake you again, but the sound of Tubboâs voice coming from the other side of the door caught your attention.
âCan I come in,â Tubbo announces his presence again with another round of knocks. With the amount of noise you made, you were pretty sure he knew you were awake. But you still replied to him.
âYeah you can.â
Not even a second after you reply, the door slowly opens and Tubbo peaks his head in. He seemed to have woken up with some bedhead, which made him look boyish. A little careless for physical appearances, which can be an endearing feature. Tubbo gave the room a sweeping look, checking for something. What exactly, you couldnât tell. But apparently he was satisfied because he opened the doorway entirely. You swiftly stood up, getting as close to the door as you could.
On the other side of the door was Tubbo in some pajamas. He looked a little sleepy, but his happiness shone through it. You smiled at the sight of him, happy that someone came to get you out.
âGood morning, Tubbo!â You gave a toothy grin and spread your arms to emphasize your joy. âSleep well?â
âGood morning!.â He gave you a toothy smile in return, but it looked odd. Like it was forced, nervous even. But you mustâve just been looking too far into it. âI slept pretty good. Howâd you sleep?â
âI slept like a fucking rock,â you reply with a little laughter. âHonestly? Best sleep of the month, man. Really needed it. Thanks for letting me bunk at your place last night.â
âNot a problem at all,â his smile soon became more natural, much bigger. âI really enjoyed having you overâ. It seemed like he was going to say something else, but stopped himself. The nervous look reappeared on his face, and you gave the most reassuring look you could. âSo about you moving in-â
âOh yeah that,â your smile disappeared as quickly as it came. âI canât just do that Tubbo. I just canât.â Tubbo seemed saddened by your response. âItâs not like I donât want to live with you,â you explained. âIâd love to live with you and Ranboo, but I have other responsibilities. Things that have to be done very far from the mansion. Seriously, Iâd love to stay.â
âThen stay.â It was a simple statement on his part. You thought it was a little banter.
âIâd stay if I could Tubbo. But I gotta go.â
âYou canât go.â
âYes I can, Tubbo. Now can you please unchain me, I gotta go.â You lift your ankle and shake it along with the chain for emphasis.
But Tubbo doesnât even give it a look before answering. âYou canât leave.â
His actions are words are a bit worrying now, huh. This is just a silly prank. Any second now heâll say itâs a joke and release you. Yeah, any moment now.
That moment never comes though.
âCome on now,â Tubbo starts to lead you back to the bed. âGet back in bed. You still look tired.â
âIâm not tired Tubbo,â your voice hardens to emphasise the fact that you really donât need this shit right now. âLook Iâm completely fine and I have to go. This joke isnât funny anymore. Just unlock the fucking cuff and Iâll be on my way.â
You two stop at the bed and he gently ushers you in. Climbing on the bed to give you a hug. Struggling against him does no good. If anything, it just makes things worse. He just tightens his grip like a damn python. Wtf why is this kid so strong and clingy? This definitely isnât a good combo.
âLook you arenât fine. See?â He emphasizes his point by hugging you tighter. Which you donât like and groan in protest. âYou need to rest. Itâs fine. Youâre home.â
Internally you start to panic. Yo, hold up, what the hell is he talking about? You know damn well you ainât home or agreed to stay here. So what does he think heâs doing?
Thereâs a cough from the doorway, and both you and Tubboâs attention is diverted to the newcomer. At the threshold of the room is Ranboo. A platter loaded with food held between his hands. He looks awkward standing there. And you donât blame him because you felt awkward just being in the hug. You couldnât even imagine the embarrassment youâd get from walking in on this shit. When your eyes meet, he gives you a small, unsure smile.
Movement behind Ranboo catches your attention. You look behind Ranbooâs legs to see Micheal clinging onto Ranbooâs pants. He looked so happy. Well, happy being debatable and interpretive. He looked normal but he was making his little happy noises. Micheal bounded over to you, stretching his arms out while making the most adorable little oink noises. You look between Tubbo and Ranboo for any sign. Literally anything for them. But Tubbo just encourages you. So you pick up Micheal and hold him close to your chest.
Tubbo gives a cheer of joy while Ranboo joins in, though a little less enthusiastic. Still the fact he sounded genuinely happy about this situation was worrying. Especially since he knew what was going on. Knew how wrong it all was. Micheal had no idea. Happily oinking way in your lap and messing with your hands. Suddenly two sets of arms entangle themselves around you; pulling themselves toward you for a hug.
Looking down at Micheal, you now question if the backstory you were told about him was true. Was he actually found wandering around? Or was he kidnapped, just like you?

The Extra (part 9)
Warning - illness, mentions of death
Authors Note - I have personal experience of this horrific disease - I hope I don't upset anyone with it, but it's a topic very close to my heart.

A month had passed since you'd deleted his number and blocked him. You were staring at the letter in your hand, shaking. You knew this day was coming, but you'd pushed it so far down that you had only truly thought about it when Cillian had told you he loved you.
You'd told Liane the truth. Why you couldn't commit to him, even though you desperately wanted to. Truth be told you'd fallen for him just as hard - and that's exactly why you'd pushed him away. It was bad enough you had to live with this, you couldn't force someone else to. She'd encouraged you to get tested - and you knew she was right. It was time you took your life in your hands once and for all. You'd spent too many years since your mother's and sister's untimely deaths burying it.
Picking up the phone, you dialled the number, heart pounding. The receptionist answered.
"Morning. My name is y/n y/l/n. I had some tests. I've had a letter to say the results are in?"
"Can I ask what the test was for?" The receptionist asked.
"My GP referred me. It's for the breast cancer gene. I'd like to know if I carry it."
"Let me check our records Miss Y/L/N. Yes, I have your results here. Would you be available to come in this afternoon? We've had a cancellation?"
"Can you not tell me over the phone?"
"I'm not allowed to, the doctor has requested to see you in person." Your heart lurched, that was never a good sign.
You immediately wanted to call Cillian, but remembered you didn't have his contact details any more. You called Liane instead. She would pick you up at 2pm and go with you to the appointment.
Sat in the waiting room, Liane held you hand to calm you. Your nerves were in tatters. This disease had already taken so much from you - your mum, your older sister, two cousins... You knew there was a strong chance it was going to take you, too. The doctor called you through.
"Your results are here y/n. And I'm pleased to inform you -"
"What?" You gasped. The doctor smiled and took your hands in hers.
"Y/n, you don't carry the gene. It isn't there - your chances of developing breast cancer are no higher than mine, or Joan Bloggs on the street. You're going to be okay." Even the doctor had tears in her eyes. Liane was gobsmacked. You just burst into tears.
"I'm not going to die?"
"Oh honey if I had the cure for that I'd be a millionaire!" She laughed, you did too. You felt like the world had just been lifted off your shoulders, taking a dark cloud with it. A dark cloud you'd been living with for nearly 10 years. The real reason you'd split with your ex. The reason you refused to get your breasts out for auditions. The real reason you backed away from a life in acting. You didn't see the point if you weren't going to be here for the long haul... But now?
Now you'd been given a new life. A new start. And your thrown away the best chance of happiness you'd ever had in one stupid click of a button.
Liane noticed your sadness in the car on the way home. You suddenly realised you weren't actually heading home though, you were on the M6 heading to Wolverhampton.
"Erm.. where are we going?" You asked, seeing the sign for Wolverhampton fly past.
"Road trip."
"Destination?"
"It's a surprise!! Do you trust me?"
"Always..."
"Then don't ask questions."
You rolled your eyes and figured you were probably en route to Bicester Village in Oxford. That was your happy place - a day of shopping, good food, few drinks in the evening... Before long though, your eyelids grew heavy. You always fell asleep on car journeys, this one was no different. Within ten minutes you were out cold.
You felt Liane nudge you gently, waking you. Opening your eyes, you looked around, expecting to see the car park. Instead you saw terraced houses, a green park, and a street sign with 'London Borough - Kilburn' on it.
"Why am I in London??" You asked. Liane shrugged her shoulders.
"Fancied a change - never been before! Just got on the motorway and drove. Been years since we've done that hasn't it! Just drove with no destination?" You grinned, remembering the random road trips you used to take years ago. You'd ended up all over the UK, even catching a ferry to Amsterdam one Friday night just because you were bored!
"So what's the plan?"
"Let's go explore!" She paid for the parking via an app on her phone and you both climbed out the car. The houses were all Victorian style and beautiful. The park was glorious - the sun shining on it beautifully. Liane suggested a picnic in the park first to line your stomachs, then cocktails.
"Aren't you driving us home later?"
"Yes - I'll be on the mocktails! Come on, let's go find food... There's loads of little deli places over there!"
Picnic done, it was cocktail time. Sadly, there didn't appear to be a cocktail bar anywhere near... But there was a nice looking pub over the road. Settling on a normal G&T, you both made your way over. Liane sent you inside to get the drinks while she sat in the beer garden out the back.
Heading outside with two G&Ts, you looked around for her but she was nowhere to be found. You quickly scanned inside again just to make sure you'd not missed her. Setting the drinks down on a bench outside, you waited. Must've gone to the toilet. Taking your phone out you sent her a text letting her know where you were.
Ten minutes passed - still no sign. You were worried now. A ping on your phone.
"For god's sake woman open your eyes and look in the corner!!" Liane... What the hell? You looked up and nearly dropped your phone. Sitting ten feet away from you, on his own... Holding his phone in his hand and staring at you the same way you were staring at him. In complete disbelief.
He looked back at his phone and shook his head. Both of you realising you'd been set up. Completely played.
He stood up, you were convinced he was going to leave but he didn't. He sat opposite you instead.
"Hey," he smiled.
"Hey..."
"Can I talk before you do?" He asked. You nodded.
"I know... I didn't... Fuck this makes so much more sense in my head..." He laughed.
"Can I talk instead?" He nodded. You took a deep breath and told him the truth. About your family. The deaths. The illness. The tests.. and the results.
"That's why I pushed you away. That's why I push everyone away. But you were the first one I pushed that I regretted... I regretted it so much because no one had ever made me feel as alive as you did. No one made me float on air like you did. No one made me forget about this cloud hanging over me like you did..."
"You thought I'd leave you if you had the gene?"
"My Dad left when my mom was diagnosed. He couldn't handle it so he bailed. Wasn't a great role model."
"Your dad's a dick. I'm not." His brutal, dead pan response made you laugh. In fact you didn't just laugh, you were in hysterics. He laughed with you, and took your hands in his.
"If I promise not to tell you I love you, will you let me see you?"
"No."
"Erm... Okay?"
"I want you to tell me you love me, if you mean it. Then I'll decide."
"Y/N... I. Love. You. I fucking love you. I adore you. I've had the most miserable four weeks of my life thanks to you!" He laughed.
"Yeah I'm sorry about that.."
"It's okay. You can make it up to me."
"You're giving me a second chance?"
"I never gave up on the first one. But this time, we take it slow. Get to know each other. I'll start by asking if I can take you out to dinner tonight?"
"I have nothing with me... All my stuff's at home..."
"Fair enough. Then we have two choices. You go shopping with Liane and get yourself something.. or go home and we can arrange to meet another time?"
"I'm already here, and shopping was on our to do list. Dinner tonight sounds lovely."
"Unblock my number. I'll text you the details later, okay?" He finished his drink and pulled his jacket on, quickly typing a text as you unblocked his number. If only you'd known it was that easy to get his contact details again... The message pinged through.
"Thank you..." You smiled reading it. He leaned over and kissed your cheek softly, before walking away. Glancing back, smiling, as he left the pub.
Liane was with you in seconds.
"You sneaky little shit, how did you do this??" You laughed.
"Anto contacted me last week, said he was sick of Cillian moping. We kinda worked together... Are you mad at me?"
"Not at all. Where's Anto?"
"Right here." Anto appeared out of nowhere and you threw your arms around him.
"Thank you. For everything?"
"No need to thank me. This was Liane's idea. Bit of a rush to sort once you'd got those results but luckily you live 3 hours away and you sleep like the dead!" He laughed. "Now get yourself gone - you have a date to prepare for!"

a/n: i hope i did this justice! i love spencer reid!!!!!!!!!
masterlist
Spencer first realised how much he loves your touch after a case where he put himself directly in danger.
You ran up, flung your arms around him and pulled him against you so tightly he felt winded.
He was shocked, stunned, and everything in between, but the most important thing is that he hugged back. It felt natural, the right thing to do, and his arms felt so snug and perfect around you his heart stuttered.
You pulled back, noticed his expression, and winced despite his reciprocation, âSorry. I just. You couldâve died, you moron. You scared me.â
All he did was give you a breathless smile and with a squeeze of his shoulders you let go, allowing him to get checked by a medic.
Spencer struggled to sleep on the jet home, plagued by the thoughts of you - you with your arms around him, how much he enjoyed how it felt.
It felt⌠wrong to like it as much as he did. Like, in theory, enjoying your physical touch went against his moral code â as a germaphobe, the thought of having to come into contact with anyone in any way makes him want to vomit. But, with you?
You smelt so good, even after running for God knows how long. You were so soft, yet so firm, so warm and welcoming and dear God Spencer has never wanted to touch every inch of someone so bad in his life.
The case was a rough one, so Garcia was waiting for you all with loving eyes and a pitiful smile, arms wide open for whoever may need it. Spencer instantly decides no thanks, but you swoop in and cuddle up to Garcia within seconds of seeing her.
You even place a series of kisses against her cheek, and Spencer is transported back to your hug.
If he was more like Garcia, open to any form of love as long as itâs love, would you have kissed him like that?
His pulse quickens, palms get sweaty and he has to clear his throat to bring himself back to Earth.
He canât afford to think like that.
But your lipsâŚ
No. Paperwork? Letâs do that and not think about a colleagueâs lips.
+++
Youâre furious.
You told Spencer to wait for backup, to not do anything stupid or irrational and definitely do NOT go in there alone, genius!
And what did he do?
He didnât wait for backup, did something very stupid and irrational, and definitely went in alone.
And now heâs dealing with a hefty concussion and flurry of other injuries; cuts, scratches, and bruises alike all dotted over him like heâs a connect-the-dots drawing.
The second he wakes up, youâre gonna kill him.
For the time being, youâll gently thread your fingers through his hair, scratching his scalp, and watch his chest rise and fall to ensure heâs alive and breathing.
âMmm,â A groan, âThat feels nice.â
His eyes flutter open. You lean towards the table next to him, pick up the bottle of water and the jello cup, and offer him both.
âThanks,â He says, hoarsely.
You sit back in your chair. Spencer doesnât take his eyes off you once. Not when he drinks the whole bottle of water, or when he cracks open the jello and inhales it with one slurp.
Your brows furrow.
âYouâre banned from work until youâre fully healed.â
âIâm suspended?!â He guffaws.
âNo,â You shake your head, âIâm personally telling you youâre not welcome back until youâre okay.â
âIâm okay now.â
âDo a backflip, genius.â
Spencer giggles, âI canât do that in peak physical condition, Y/N.â
âSounds like a cop out to me. So, again, youâre banned from work until youâre fully healed.â
He considers fighting back, but then he remembers what you were doing when he woke up, what he felt when he woke up.
He was confused and, you know, in pain, but there was this tender and soft, repetitive touch that immediately eased him. His subconscious knew it was you, in all your glory and sweetness, that had stayed with him for however long, looking after him even when he wasnât conscious to know it.
So he just keeps staring at you, spoonful of jello in his mouth.
+++
When you get to Spencerâs place, he looks around like itâs his first time seeing it â awe and wonder painted on his face.
Everything heâs doing, everything heâs going through, youâre putting it all down to his concussion.
On the way here, he told you the whole history of car air fresheners after taking a good five seconds to get a good sniff of the cherry blossom scent you have.
âLetâs get you settled in, huh?â You say quietly, guiding Spencer to his bedroom. He walks a little like a mummy, kinda stumpy and heavy, and he flops on the bed.
You give a lopsided grin as you watch him. Heâs mumbling incoherently, shuffling up to the top of his bed to fall flat on his back.
He moans.
âAlright, alright,â You placate, âLet me go⌠gather some things.â
You donât know Spencerâs place all that well, so it takes you a while to find even the simplest things like a glass, a flannel, a snack. You get lost in snooping around, trying not to profile him, and the one thing you deduct is his apartment is so him. So Spencer, so lovely and comforting and a little odd.
You canât get enough.
Thereâs a weak call from his bedroom: âY/N?â
âComing!â
He hasnât moved an inch from where you left him. He looks so pitiful, bruised eyes and a cut right through his lip, and you almost coo at him.
âIâm not a good cook, so I thought we could order some food later.â You hand him the water and gesture for him to drink. âIn the meantime, you need to rest. Mind if I borrow a book while I keep you company?â
You turn to leave, but Spencerâs voice makes you pause.
âCould you play with my hair again?â
A part of you wants to say no, like this is some overly intimate thing heâs asking, but then you remind yourself that heâs injured, which has reverted him to acting like a sleepy child.
âPlease?â He looks at you with glassy eyes and he looks adorable, âOnly for a little while.â
You say nothing, sliding into bed next to him. He scoots over a little to make more room for you, curling into you before your back hits the bed entirely. One hand rests above the covers, naturally placed on his arm, thumb smoothing him back and forth. The other, the one wrapped around his head, cards through his lightly tangled hair, all warm and loving.
He falls asleep instantly and, not long after, you fall asleep, too.
You both dream of eachother and wake up blushing.
+++
Spencerâs back in work within four days. Youâre working a new case the second you arrive.
Thereâs been a shift in your dynamic and everyoneâs noticed it. No one questions it, however, because theyâre all aware you looked after him while he was away, and they witnessed how worried you were when you found him, but they canât help but ogle and whisper.
They might be federal agents, but gossip is gossip and they love it.
Youâve noticed it, too, obviously. JJ tried to tease you about it, after Spencer bought you your favourite coffee and morning muffin on the way to the precinct, but you shut her down (and yourself from thinking about it too much) by reminding her you spent several days caring for him. Heâs repaying you, even though youâve told him he doesnât need to.
Ever heard of transference, JJ?
A shiver runs through you as you look into the interrogation room. Itâs not because of the suspect, though, itâs because the AC has been turned up â a tactic Hotch promises will be worth it despite your chattering teeth.
Somethingâs wrapped around you, suddenly, light but cosy and adds some heat to you that you need.
Itâs a cardigan. Grey, much too big for you, the sleeves falling way beyond your arms and length reaching your mid-thigh. Thereâs a little red heart with eyes stitched on the left breast.
Itâs Spencerâs.
âYouâre shivering,â Spencer chastises, seemingly appearing from nowhere, âYou know, when we shiver, itâs our bodies doing the opposite of sweating â it tightens the skin and shakes the muscles, a process that conserves and generates heat. We shiver to get warm. Do you not have a coat?â
âAlright, dad,â You tease, âItâs in the conference room. I wasnât prepared for Hotch to make the unsub an icicle.â
Spencer breathes a laugh, moving closer to reach an arm around you. His other hand presses against your bicep, his grip sturdy as he vigorously rubs up and down your arms to generate heat.
Whoa.
It certainly works. You feel hot, suddenly, but not because of the cardigan or whatever the hell heâs doing, because Spencer has voluntarily touched you and is standing so close you feel like youâre on fire from the inside out. Youâre sure your heart skips a beat and you stare at him in bewilderment.
He shrugs, as if itâs the most normal thing in the world, âMy mom used to do that for me when I was young and got cold. I thought youâd appreciate it.â
You give a shy smile, âYeah, I appreciate it a lot, Spence. Thanks.â
When Hotch leaves the interrogation room, he half-halts when he sees you in Spencerâs cardigan. Itâs the perfect Hotch reaction, combined with the rise of an eyebrow as he walks past you to reconvene with the team.
You donât take it off when you all walk back to the conference room, and Spencer doesnât ask for it back.
Everyone notices. A lot of eye contact is made with many questions silently asked.
You and Spencer pretend not to notice.
+++
Thereâs a knock on your door at precisely 10:12pm. You check because your first instinct is if Iâm about to get robbed, Iâm making sure the timestamps are correct.
Itâs not a robber. Itâs Spencer â frazzled, wrapped up all nice and warm like a pretty present, Spencer Reid.
His nose is slightly red from the biting cold outside.
Leaning against your doorframe, you say, âHey there,â
âHi,â He waves.
You stare for a couple of seconds, then remember the polite thing to do is invite him in: âCome in, come in! Do you want some tea? You look cold.â
âCoffee would be great, thank you.â
You move to your kitchen, not very far from your front door, but Spencer stays put and awkwardly glances around your place. He loves it, he decides. Very you.
You notice he hasnât moved, âMake yourself comfortable, Spence. My cat is somewhere if you want to say hi.â
He slowly moves to your couch, removing his coat, scarf and satchel as he does it. Two drinks in hand, you join him and fling your fluffy sock-clad feet onto your coffee table.
âSo what can I help you with?â You ask.
Spencer takes a sip of his burning drink, âWhat makes you think I want something?â
âWhy else would you be here? You wanna watch Greyâs Anatomy with me?â
Spencer laughs lightly. Youâre right. Heâs here for a reason that isnât to watch TV that he loves to correct with you.
Heâs quiet, then, and does that thing where his tongue flicks out to lightly wet his lips in nervousness.
âSomethingâs been going on.â He starts, ambiguously, âAnd itâs left me asking a lot of questions.â
Your brows furrow. Itâs not like Spencer to be cryptic like this.
âDid it mean anything?â He asks, finally, turning to look at you. âAny of it?â
âDid what mean anything?â
âThe.. the playing with the hair, the over-all gentleness, the cuddling.â
Your shoulders tighten up and you hope he doesnât notice.
He does.
âSpence,â You give a fake laugh, âYou were hurt and I was comforting you. Looking after you. You know, like a friend does.â
âNo one else did as much as you.â
âYou wanted comfort, and Iâm more than happy to provide that, Spence. Everyone else was busy.â
âYou took time off for me.â
You donât have an answer for that.
Youâre trying to keep the conversation light and breezy to not show your true feelings. Youâre not ready for that kind of conversation, but heâs right. You used your vacation days to stay with him and care for him.. and you know you didnât do it platonically.
âYouâre my friend, Spence,â You say, voice soft.
âThatâs it? Thatâs all it was?â He doesnât sound angry, or hurt, maybe peeved. He wonât look you in the eyes, though.
âWhat else would it be?â
Spencer scoffs.
He moves away from you, hands running through his hair in exasperation when he lets out a breath.
âWe cuddled, Y/N. I havenât done that with anyone in-in years! The last person was my mother when I was ten years old!â
âThatâs supposed to mean something?!â
âI-I donât know,â He sounds exhausted, as if the complications of his emotions are taking way too much energy out of him, âBut I really liked it. And I really like you.â
You look at him, then, and heâs staring back. He looks⌠hopeful.
âI really like you, Y/N.â
You swallow deeply.
âI tried to show you with the uh, the cardigan thing,â He scratches the back of his neck, a laugh to mock himself leaving him, âBut Iâve never been good with that stuff.â
He moves closer, shifting to face you, eyes remaining locked with yours.
âSay something.â He whispers.
âI-I-â You stutter, âAre you sure?â
âOf course I am. Iâve spent the last week thinking about it non-stop.â
âReally?â You laugh in disbelief.
âYeah!â He gives a small smile, âI-uh.. wrote to my mom about you, too. She told me that if Iâm this caught up on you, you must be special. Which you are, by the way.â
âIâm special?â You grin teasingly.
âVery special.â
Thereâs a moment where you think heâs going to kiss you, but instead he shyly asks, âDo you feel the same?â
You bite your lip. âI do. Really, I do. Iâm just.. a little apprehensive, I guess.â
âOf what?â
âItâs stupid.â
âNothing is stupid when it comes to you.â
God, heâs so infuriatingly sweet. You wish you could kiss him all over.
You might be able to, if all this goes well.
âI donât want things to be weird if we donât work out.â You admit, adding a shrug to appear casual. Itâs not like youâve worried about this since you realised you liked him.
Spencer tilts his head at you, âYouâre already thinking about a breakup when we havenât even gone on a first date?â
You giggle, which he returns with a smile, âI mean- I like you, Spence, and have for a while. Iâve thought about all outcomes.â
âAll?â
You roll your eyes as he gives you a look, âYes, all. Iâd want us to work out but.. what if we donât?â
He places a now warmed up hand on yours, âWell, we wonât know unless we try, right?â His hold tightens, âIâm willing to give it my all if you are.â
You look from your hands to his face, and decide yes, if thereâs one risk you want to take in your life, itâs a risk that could possibly result in you spending the rest of your life with your favourite person on this planet.
So you nod.
âIâll give you my all, and then some.â
He grins, âThatâs quite the promise.â
You donât reply, instead swinging your legs over his lap and leaning into his side to cuddle up to him. He reciprocates like itâs second nature, hand slipping from yours to wrap around your waist and tug you closer.
âWanna watch Star Trek as a mini first date?â You look up at him through your eyelashes.
You really are perfect for me, Spencer thinks.
âYes. Yes I do.â

The first two instances thereâs no relationship, but by the end itâs sort of an implied relationship. Also, I binged dharma and greg while writing this⌠So Hotch definitely has more of a domestic vibe in a few of the instances. thank you all so much for the support! i really do appreciate it. check out my masterlist!

One
It was a regular day. You stayed behind to help Aaron and Jennifer work over some cases. The extra pair of eyes would be nice, and maybe theyâd be able to get home sooner rather than later. You knew itâd be a late-night no matter what. So you decided to work through your files quickly.
Although, you wished youâd slow it down a bit. You wished you slowed down after you moved a paper just the right way across your finger. A hiss came from your lips as you dropped the paper and file to the table.
âYou alright?â Jennifer looked over at you as you stood up. Looking down at your fingers, liquid red came seeping from your finger. Your nose wrinkled as you looked at the injury. It took you a minute to realize what happened as you started at the minor injury across your finger.
âPapercut,â you winced as you looked between Jennifer and the cut on your finger. You brought your finger to your lips, sucking on the wound like a child would have done.
âI have bandaids in my office,â Aaron spoke, looking up from his file and right at you. You looked over at him, your finger still in your mouth. You felt a little weird staring at your boss and superior with your finger in your mouth. âHere, Iâll go get you one,â he looked up at you as he stood. You stared at him, watching him leave the conference room.
âI should go with him, right?â You asked, looking back at JJ. She looked up from her file and right at you.
âHe offered you bandaids quicker than I could,â JJ laughed as she lowered her file to the table. You raised an eyebrow at her. âIâd go with him,â a smile grew on JJâs lips as she looked back at her file.
âRight, I should,â you mumbled as you rushed to your feet. JJ grinned, watching as you rushed out of the room. You were quick as you rushed down the platform, going right to Aaronâs office.
âUnfortunately, I only have Batman bandaids. Is that alright?â Aaron looked up at you, holding a bandaid with Batman and Robin on it. You looked at him, feeling a small smile grow on your lips before nodding.
âBatman will work just fine,â you laughed as you met Aaron in the middle of his office.
âI donât have anything to clean it with either. So youâll just have to go to the bathroom. Next time Iâll be better prepared.â Aaron laughed as you took the band-aid from him and looked down at it. âJackâs the one who picked the theme of the band-aids⌠Insisted that superheroes help heal all owies.â Aaron laughed again as he watched you examine the theme.
âOh, no, really. Batman is perfectly fine," You spoke as you peeled the band-aid open and put it over your cut. âAnd, who said there would be a next timeâŚ?â
Two
You sat at the table, sweat pouring off you, while you somehow shivered like a leaf in the wind. You were simultaneously hot and cold, and you couldnât stop your nose from running like a character in a Tom Hanks movie. You didnât even realize Aaron was talking to you, everything he said to you went in one ear and out the other.
âAre you even listening to me?â Aaron stopped talking about the case and looked right at you. You looked up from the table and at him.
âYeah, yeah you said something aboutâŚâ Your words trailed off, just like any other thought you had at that moment.
âThatâs not even close to what I said,â Aaron spoke as he stared at you. He placed the file he was holding on the table and stepped up to you. âAre you feeling fine?â
âI feel great, Aaron. Really. Letâs just get back to work so we can go home,â you rambled as you tried to hold down a cough. Aaron looked down at you as he placed the back of his hand on your forehead. To anyone on the outside, our relationship was strictly professional. But behind closed doors, you both had a pretty simple and normal relationship. It would have seemed weird only to the people in a work environment. But you were used to it and love that side of him.
âNope, youâre going to the hotel. Youâre burning up.â Aaron folded his arms over his chest as he stared at you.
âBut I feel fine.â
âYouâre burning up.â
âBut-â
âYouâre going back to the hotel,â he spoke sternly, "Donât even think about calling Garcia to spy on the case. Go back to the hotel, and get some rest.â Aaron looked down at you. You stared up at him, trying to hold back the sneeze or hold down the cough that was making you suffocate.
âI feel⌠I feelâŚâ Unfortunately, you were cut off by a sneeze, then a cough, and then another sneeze, âFine!â You tried not to shout, but at that point, you had never felt so⌠defeated. So you finally let your shoulders fall as you looked up at Aaron. âIâll go back to the hotel,â you grumbled before grabbing your things.
âCall me if you need anything, please.â Aaron stared at you as you struggled to put your jacket on. He was quiet as he walked over to help you, grabbing a sleeve to your jacket and slipping it on you. You looked up at him with dewy eyes.
âBe safe out there, please,â you quietly pleaded. Aaron pressed his lips to your forehead, which he would regret because of how sweaty you were. You were happy it was just you and Aaron in the precinct, as all the other members of the team were at separate locations.
âLet me know when you get to the hotel.â Aaron walked beside you out to the parking lot. You looked up at him and nodded. âGet all the rest in the world, and drink plenty of fluids.â He looked down at you as he pulled the door open for you.
âOkay, Doctor Reid,â you scoffed and glared at him as you slipped into the car. Aaron returned the glare before pushing the door to the car shut.
The drive to the hotel was quiet, and thankfully pretty quick. You werenât sure if you were happy to sit this case out. Sure it was nice to have a break from the stress. But you did enjoy being with the team and actually working.
When you finally got to the hotel, you were quick to change from your business-work attire and into your pajamas. You clicked the TV on and laid in bed. You werenât sure when you drifted off, but you awoke to the door of your room clicking shut, and in a puddle of your own sweat.
âItâs just me,â Aaron spoke into the darkroom. You reached over and blindly turned the lamp on. Aaron was standing at the foot of the bed holding two paper bags in hand. âSorry to wake you,â he whispered as he cringed. You assumed you looked like a mess as you sat up. You felt like one at least.
âItâs fine. It wasnât restful anyway,â you sighed as you rubbed your face. It was an obvious lie too. You hadnât slept that hard since before you started at the BAU. Aaron knew for a fact that you were sleeping pretty hard. The line of drool coming from your mouth, the exhausted look in your eyes, and the indentations in your skin from where the blankets were indicated just how hard you were sleeping.
âHow are you feeling?â Aaron asked as he placed the bags on the table. You watched as he pulled out a bottle of orange juice, a box of popsicles, and a bowl of soup.
âLike I ran headfirst into a brick wall then hit by a semi-truck.â You spoke truthfully. Aaron raised an eyebrow as he walked over to you with the soup in one hand and the orange juice in another. âItâs probably a good thing I didnât stay at the station with you.â
âWell there was a reason why I sent you back here,â Aaron laughed as he placed the two items on the nightstand beside you. âI also got you NyQuil and Ibuprofen. And, I can get you ice from the machine down the hall,â he continued as he sat beside you on the bed.
âYouâre the best,â you whispered as you picked up the soup. âHowâs the case going?â
âItâs going. Thereâs been another victim,â Aaron honestly answered. You frowned as you looked away from the soup and up at him.
âI wish there was something I could do to help.â And it was true. But there was a little bit of a lie in your words. Youâd much rather stay in the hotel room wrapped up in blankets watching movies on your phone.
âYouâre helping by staying here and getting rest. We donât want Reid overreacting to you being with the rest of us,â Aaron laughed as he looked at you. You laughed and nodded.
âYouâre right, youâre right,â you sighed and sat back in the bed, âYou should get rest too. Youâll have an early morningâŚ.â
âNow⌠Iâm the one whoâs taking care of you,â Aaron scolded. You stared at him before blinking slowly. âIâm at least going to shower first. You better be asleep by the time I get out.â
âCan do, Sir⌠But only if you give me that bottle of NyQuil first.â
Three
âGet down!â You shouted as you looked at the victim. The little girl looked over at you with terror in her eyes. You looked at the little girl, then up at the unsub. âLet the girl go, and maybe we can talk about a deal,â You spoke softly as you lowered your gun. Your partner in crime and in life, Aaron, appeared by your side, his weapon still in hand.
âGet out of here,â the unsub muttered as he shoved the little girl towards you and Aaron. The little girl went right to Aaronâs arms, causing you to look over at him.
âTake her, I got this,â You whispered as you nodded to the girl. Aaron wanted to argue, but he knew it was useless. Aaron glanced at you one last time before lifting the girl up and leaving.
âLook, Iâm putting my weapon away,â You looked back at the unsub as you holstered your gun. The unsub looked at you for a moment before tricking you. The way the unsub moved made you think he was going one way, when in reality he went the other.
Before you knew it, the unsub threw a fist at your face before shoving you up against the wall. If you werenât sitting on the ground, you would have chased after him. But you were too busy recollecting yourself to bother. It was a shock and everything happened so quickly. So it was a relief when you heard Aaronâs booming voice renter the room.
âStay down!â Aaron yelled as he looked down at the unsub. You sat against the wall, your hand over your eye where the unsub punched you. Aaron was quick as he put cuffs on the already down unsub. The way Aaron glanced over at you worried you a little bit. You could tell there was a tiny bit of worry in his eye. You two would have to wait till other members of the team showed up before anything would happen.
âIâm fine, Aaron,â you mumbled as you stumbled to your feet. Aaron glanced down at the unsub before going to you to help you to your feet. âI said I was fine,â you whisper once you were standing behind him.
âYou go outside, and get yourself some help. Iâll be right behind you with him,â Aaronâs grip on your arm was tight as you stood. You glanced at Aaron with a raised brow.
âIâm fine, Aaron,â
âJust listen to me,â Aaron insisted as he guided you towards the door. You looked at Aaron and the unsub one last time before going outside.
The rest of the team was by your side, bringing you to an ambulance.
âWhereâs Hotch,â Emily asked as one of the EMTs helped you. You graciously took the ice pack from the EMT and held it to your face.
âHe said heâd be right behind me. Is the little girl okay?â You asked as you worried more about the little girl, rather than yourself. Emily gestured over to where the little girl was reunited with her family. A wave of relief washed over you once you saw the family back together.
Aaron was quick to your side when he was outside. You didnât want to question why he took so long inside with the unsub. You were just happy he was back beside you.
âBastard packed quite the punch,â you nervously chuckled as you looked to the ground. Aaron leaned against the ambulance rig before looking over at you.
âNext time Iâm staying with the unsub,â Aaron muttered as he rested a hand on your shoulder. You looked up at him as you dropped your hand and ice pack from your face.
âYou know, Aaron,â you started but let your words trail off with a chuckle.
âAre you going to finish that thought?â Aaron asked as he raised an eyebrow at you. You laughed again and shook your head.
âItâs no big deal that I got punched by an unsub. It wasnât the first, and it most certainly wonât be the last time itâs happened,â You spoke softly as you tried to reassure your partner. Aaron breathed out a laugh and nodded.
Four
The unsub was cornered. Stuck between you, Aaron, and a brick wall with no way over it. You and the team had profiled everything about this guy perfectly. Or so you and Aaron had thought. You hoped there was an easy way for this to end. But you ended up being wrong when he raised his weapon in your direction. Aaron was doing everything he could to talk the unsub of the edge, to get him to lower his weapon. But it all ended up being for nothing.
For a brief moment, you werenât entirely sure what had happened. All you knew was there was a loud bang, followed by a second bang, followed by you fell back to the ground. The wind was knocked right from your lungs, and breathing seemed to be a chore instead of a freewill thing. A sudden pain was in your chest, and sitting up was the furthest thing from your mind.
âAre you alright?â Aaron looked down at you with wide eyes.
âAm I dead?â You asked once you were able to take a deep breath. It was still a struggle for you. Aaron offered you a hand to help you sit up. You looked up at him before looking down at the bulletproof, kevlar vest. A bullet was lodged in the vest, saving your life.
âNo, you arenât.â Aaron helped you take the vest off. You sat back against the wall, the pain in your chest only growing.
âAre you sure?â You asked again, looking at Aaron with a small, but nervous, smile. Aaron returned the look with a raised brow, silently telling you now was no time for joking.
âYouâll have a bruise on your chest, but you should be fine. I would still get it checked out, just in case.â He added before helping you to your feet.
âIs he dead?â You looked down at the ground, your eyes instantly going to the cold body of your unsub. Aaron looked over at you with a crease in his brow and a solemn look in his eye.
âI couldnât take any chances that heâd try to kill you. Heâd already shot at you once.â Aaron explained once you had realized heâd killed the unsub. You understood why he did it, though. And frankly, youâd do the same if your places were swapped, you thought.
âAre the rest of the team and the police on their way?â You asked, already assuming the answer.
âCalled them when you were down. Should be here at any minute.â
Five
âAre you alright?â Aaron asked as he looked over at you. The expression that he wore on his face was⌠exhausted and sad. You were sure you had the same expression, more on the sadder side. This last case was⌠a rough one to say the least. You tried not to think about the details of it, but all you could think about was Jack, and your nieces and nephews, and their safety. But it was hard when that was the only thing that occupied your mind on the ride home.
âNo,â You muttered as you looked over at him. It was hard for you to hide the tears in your eyes. âI just wish there was more we could do,â You sighed deeply before bringing a hand to your face.
âWe did everything we could do. You know that,â Aaron whispered as he looked over at you. You glanced at him, noting that he was still looking at you. âItâs always hard to know how things like this play out.â He added as he reached out to hold your hand. The grip he had on your hand was firm, tight enough to let you know he was there.
âNo, no I know⌠It just⌠Sucks⌠I couldnât even imagine being in the position as those parents.â You shivered with your words. Aaron glanced at you. You wiped your cheeks and shook your head. âSometimes I wonder why Iâm still even in this occupation. You ever wonder that?â You asked as you looked up at him. Aaronâs jaw steeled as he kept his eyes on the road. âBecause, like⌠To me⌠I donât know⌠With all the shit we see⌠Sometimes Iâd rather just stay home with Jack,â You concluded with another sigh. That time Aaron looked over at you with a certain sadness in his eyes.
âI understand.â Aaron nodded. You werenât sure about his tone. Though there was some honesty, at the same time you picked some uncertainty. You knew how long heâd been in the BAU, and you knew itâd be an even longer time before he left. Heâs seen some shit. And, well, been through a lot of it as well. Heâd fallen victim to a number of unsubs and lost more than one thing.
âYouâre bad at this.â You stared at him as you pressed your head into the headrest. Aaron had a sad smile grow across his lips before glancing at you.
âIâm just a sounding board.â
âBut⌠But youâre also my boss⌠And my partner⌠You should be more than a sounding board, Aaron.â You pointed out as you sat up a bit. âI might take some time off. This case really⌠Itâs really affecting me in a bad way.â
âIâm sure Jack would love that. And Jessica,â Aaron laughed sadly as he glanced at you. âIâm always here for you. You know that. And if you feel like you have to take some time off, then Iâll be by your side then too.â He glanced over at you. You swallowed roughly before nodding.
âIâll have to tell my boss when we get back to the office,â you laughed lightly. Aaron returned the laughter and shook his head.
âDonât worry. He already knows.â
Plus One
When Aaron had gotten home from the hospital, you made it a point to take as much time as needed off so you could help him. Part of you thought everyone just assumed you were the one to go to Aaronâs apartment to help him. Of course, it was a fair assumption.
It was a rough scene when you arrived at Aaronâs apartment. It was a mess, but you partly expected that. It was more of a cluttered mess, with Jackâs toys and Aaronâs files strewn around the place. Maybe youâd help the pair out by cleaning up a little bit for them, too.
Jack was with his Aunt Jessica for the time being. He didnât need to be exposed to the injuries and pain his father was going through. It wasnât fair to the young boy. Jack had already gone through so much⌠What, with losing his mother, and nearly losing his father?
You quietly brought your go bag and backpack up the stairs and towards Aaronâs room. This wouldnât be the first time youâve spent the night at his house, and it certainly wouldnât be the last. Although this time was different.
âWhat are you doing here?â Aaron asked as you entered his bedroom. You looked down at him with confusion and mild anger on your face.
âYou⌠You had no one to take care of you,â You whispered as you looked at him. Aaronâs features softened slightly, but you could still see his own confusion and annoyance on his face. âWhat? With Jessica taking care of Jack, and the team off doing⌠team-y things⌠I figured Iâd help,â you shrugged as you dropped your bags to the foot of Aaronâs bed.
âI donât need anyone taking care of me. I can do it myself,â Aaron stubbornly refused your offer. Although it wasnât an offer. You were determined to help him whether he wanted it or not.
âDonât be silly, Aaron,â You crossed your arms over your chest as you stared at Aaron, âIâll take care of you." You looked down at Aaron as he readjusted his position. You grimaced as Aaron winced from pain. You were quick to his side, trying to help. But it was clear Aaron didnât want it. Youâd be lying if you said his refusal hurt your heart.
âItâs rotten work,â Aaron said once he was finally in a comfortable position. You looked down at him, feeling your face fall slightly from a sudden sadness.
âNot to me⌠Not if itâs you,â You whispered softly before taking Aaronâs hand into yours. Aaron looked up at you, a certain pain in his eyes. You didnât question it as you looked at him. âPlease, Aaron⌠Let me help you⌠The team doesnât need me right now. But you do,â You kept your voice low as you worried itâd crack.
Aaron looked back up at you, watching as tears fell from your eyes.
âI wonât be easy on you,â Aaron looked at you as he spoke. You smiled softly before nodding.
âThatâs okay. Iâll help you. Thatâs why Iâm here,â You nodded before you brought his hand to your lips. Your lips rested right on the back of Aaronâs hand as you stared at him. âThink of it as payback for all those times youâve helped me. Itâs only fair.â

Of course, you went into this thinking itâd be easy. You thought that Aaron would help you help him. The first day was easy. But the following days were rougher. You werenât expecting Aaron to argue with you. It was a fight to try and convince him he needed help.
Like today, Aaron had to go to the bathroom. And when you went to help him, he fought. You loved him, that was why you were helping him. But he was beginning to test your limits.
âPlease stop fighting me on this, Aaron. I know you know whatâs best for you, and you know yourself better than I know you⌠But you have to take your medicine and get rest,â your voice wavered as you looked down at the man. Aaron looked up at you, a scowl on his face and a stone-cold glare in his eyes.
âI donât need or want your help,â Aaron hissed as he pulled his arm from you. You stared at him, watching him wince as he adjusted the blanket over his legs.
âIf that was the case then you wouldâve pissed the bed,â you scoffed as you stared at him as you folded your arms across your chest. Aaron looked up at you, the hardness on his face softening a little bit. âIâll be in the living room if you need me. But you made it very clear that you donât.â You returned the glare before leaving his bedroom.
You quietly left the room, resigning to the living room where you had bedding set up on the couch. All of the belongings you had brought over were strewn across the coffee table. Various case files sat open, highlighters and pens sitting on them. They were files you were helping Aaron with so he wouldnât fall behind workwise.
With a deep sigh, you sat on the couch, pulling a blanket around your body before you picked up a file. You worked in silence, but you were on high alert waiting for a call of help. But Aaron was stubborn, you knew thereâd be no call.
You wished you could just help Aaron without the fight. It was exhausting for both you and Aaron. The days the team had off, a few of them would visit and help out with what they could. But Aaron still refused anyoneâs help. You could tell that it was even frustrating for the team. And they could tell it was frustrating for you when you faked a smile as you exited Aaronâs room. You had nothing better to do than refuse their help when they offered.
You couldnât help but let out deep, frustrated sighs as you continued to read over files. Some things didnât make much sense, so when you needed help in that area, you would give a call to Emily or Penelope for the help. Thankfully they were able to quickly lend a hand.
Time was quick as it ticked by. You werenât even sure what time you had started, but you knew it was late. Sleep would never find its way to you though. No you were too busy staying away, waiting for Aaronâs calls of help.
âYouâre still working?â Aaron asked from behind you. That was when you finally looked up at the clock and saw that it was 3:30 in the morning. It was probably a good thing that Aaron came out at the time he did. You needed a long break, and some sleep.
You looked away from the file and over at Aaron. He stood a few feet away from the couch, his robe hanging off his frame as he stood. That reminded you that you really needed to change out of your day clothes and into your pajamas.
âWell when youâre the one who constantly works and youâre out sick⌠Iâm the next best person since I know everything you do. So I figuredâŚâ You shrugged looking back down at the file on your lap and highlighter in hand. âAnd you wouldnât let me help you.â
âThatâs how youâre helping?â Aaron asked as he stepped around the couch to sit beside you. You looked up at him, watching him press a hand over his injuries.
âHow else am I supposed to help?â you scoffed, looking over at Aaron again, âI mean, you know whatâs best for you, Aaron. Iâm just trying to help and follow what the doctors told you to do. Youâre just tooâŚâ You let your words trail off, not finishing your thought. It wasnât mean, you thought. But you didnât want to take that chance.
âIâŚâ Aaron started but failed when you cut him off.
âYou almost died⌠Twice⌠All I want to do is help you. Thatâs all anyone wants to do, is help you.â Your voice broke off at the end. You had given up the fight. There was nothing left in you to keep going. So, you looked away from Aaron and tried to ignore the tears rolling down your cheeks.
Aaron silently reached out to hold your hand. You looked at him, your eyes wide as you stared.
âIâve just never had help withâŚâ Aaronâs words trailed off. You blinked slowly as you turned to face him more. You watched as he struggled to stand, and you could tell that he was trying to hide the real pain he was actually in.
âCome on.â He gently pulled your hand as he stood. You looked at him, your eyes wide and dewy. âThe way you can help me is to lie in bed with me. You can keep working, or you can just lie beside me. Thatâs how you can help.â
âAaron...â
âI donât care what you have to say. Youâre coming with me.â Aaron looked down at you with a furrowed brow. There was a certain softness to his features.
âFine,â You whispered as you begrudgingly stood to your feet. Aaron looked over at you before taking the lead back into the bedroom. You were both quiet as you slipped into the bed.
âWill you rest now?â You looked over at him as he laid beside you. You were too focused on being annoyed and wanting to help him that you didnât even realize he had fallen asleep. You didnât know when, but he had also had an arm thrown over your body. Usually the roles were reversed. And you realized just how much you actually loved Aaron, even though heâs stubborn and hard-headed.

A late night hand nsft
Musical beetlejuice x reader
You give beej a handjob in your sleep
Reader has a vagina
Warning dubious consent, voyeurism, masturbation, mutual masturbation kinda
Shout out to the anon that told me to do this
Its been a full week of beetlejuice being underfoot and in your personal space, from the moment youd wake up, and left for work, to when you got home again, not that you minded at all, in fact you adored the demon, hell, you were head over heels for the ghoul, not that you had the balls to say it.
But this whole week he's been up on you, clinging to you, nuzzling his scratch beard into your neck, pinching your rear, poking at you, he just couldnt keep his hands off, not that you minded, though you did scold him for getting too friendly with your bum, you two even slept together and the man was a cuddler. All this physical attention wasnt usually an issue, you could normally deal with this pent up frustration and sexual neediness during some alone time with some less then wholesome thoughts of the bastard who made you feel that way to begin with.
But not this time, beetlejuice just wouldnt give you the time of day, normally he would duck out and scare the neighbors or lydia would summon him away, but lydia was off on a family vacation or something, and beej just wasnt in the mood to be a pest to anyone but you.
You envied the ghoul, his ability to just leave and do whatever he wanted, hell for all you know the bastard could be jerking off on the roof, shooting his load over the edge and watching it splat on the sidewalk, honestly you wouldnt put it past him, you couldnt help but snicker at that image, but your mirth was cut short when a familiar gravelly voice grabs your attention.
"What's so funny?"
"Ah, just remembered a stupid tiktok I saw the other day, dont worry about" you shrug
The ghoul grunts, alittle annoyed you wont elaborate on the joke, but his attention returns to the film the two of you were watching, he was watching, you were too busy in your own head.
It was the regular movie night the two of you shared, you would order pizza, beetlejuice would scare the piss out of the poor delivery guy, and the two of you would stay up till the early morning watching B list horror, all the while the demon had an arm around your shoulders pulling you into his side, he would claim he did it cuz he was cold and you were warm, and under normal circumstances you didnt mind, but now? You felt like you were gonna die, you swore the demon could hear your heart pounding away, or feel the warmth from your face, god couldnt tell you were in desperate need to deal with your pent up frustrations could he? Hell you wanted the ghoul to absolutely rail you on the couch, and you're pretty sure he'd do it if youd asked, but you werent that type of person, nor did you want friends with benefits relationship with beetlejuice, if anything you wanted something more romantic, as cheesy as that sounds, a loving relationship with a literal demon, I mean the two of you DO get along nicely, so maybe it wasnt too out of the question?
You were so busy in your on head freaking out you didnt hear beetlejuice trying to get your attention.
With a poke on the cheek you yelp in surprise
"You sick or something?" He smirked, amused by your cry
"Yeah, feeling alittle dizzy" you mumble avoiding the ghoul's eyes, he was leaning into now, his face way too close to yours, he had no idea what personal space even was, and you were in no state to deal with his clingyness unless you wanted to cum your pants infront of a jackass who'll never let you forget it.
"I think I'm gonna head to bed early" you shift away from the demon and up off the couch, he huffs in annoyance
"Really babes? You got the day off tomorrow, how bout you relax here with me, I dont mind if you doze off on me~, I'll keep ya nice and cozy all night~" he purrs, eyeing you up and down, if you werent wet earlier you were sure as fuck were now, you swallow the lump in your throat and squeeze your legs together and squeak out a soft "no thanks, I think sleeping in my bed would be ideal, I dont want to make you sick or anything, I mean If i am sick, night" you babbled as you scurried to your room.
With the closing of the door you were home safe in your room, not safe enough to jerk away these annoying pent up sexual feelings, yes you could be quite, but beetlejuice was nosy and had the nasty habbit of appearing when you least wanted him to, fantasies of him walking in on you then helping you finish is one thing, but in reality? Its terrifying.
You can stare at yourself in your bedroom mirror and snear "horny dumbass" you mumble as you plug your phone into its charger and slip in bed hoping tomorrow these frustrations would vanish.
Beetlejuice stifled a laugh at your exit, one of his favourite things about you was that you were a terrible liar, he could read you like an open book, that's how he found out you liked him and not just in a sexy way, he saw how much you liked him as a person, even though he wasnt one, you treated him with genuine kindness and wanted him around, not strings attached, that in itself was rare, a pretty little breather like you having the hots for a smelly creepy old guy of a corpse? One in a million, and he sure as hell wasnt gonna let it go.
He knew you liked him, and yes he's seen you masturbate more then he's willing to admit, but seeing you so turned on you looked like you were gonna explode? That was new, and he'd be lying if he wasnt a tad turned on by it at all.
Let's be honest beetlejuice knew he was winding you up all week, he wanted to see you're cute flustered expression, but soaking your panties? That was a bonus, he didnt think youd get so hot under the collar by his games, he was actually quite flattered that he had that level of effect on you.
The ghoul quietly floats over to your bedroom, pressing an ear against the door, nothing, he frowns, no sounds of soft panting, or the muffled buzz of your little vibrator, nothing. Maybe he was asking for too much, hoping youd have the guts to jerk one out while his presence was known, but no, no little peep show tonight.
As much as the demon would love to slip into bed with you and catch some Zs, it was still too early to do so, you'd still be awake, and in your current state would be pretty jumpy, he floats back over to the couch to wait it out, despite his creepy nature beetlejuice occasionally had these moments of respecting you and your feelings, it was odd, maybe the maitlands were rubbing off on him.
Beetlejuice spent most of this time waiting for you to doze off just staring at the ceiling as he reclined on the couch, he pulls a clock out from his jacket and gives a small smirk, enough time as finally pasted for you to be out and for him to slink in.
The ghoul fazes his way through your bedroom door, seeing you fast asleep, he smiles, floating towards the edge of the bed and with the snap of his finger his striped suit vanishes leaving behind nothing but a pair of stripe boxers.
Beetlejuice gently pulls aside the covers to reveal your sleeping form, you were wearing nothing but an oversized t-shirt, and with further inspection a pair of boxers, that were hidden by the shirt.
The ghoul slips in beside you and sighs at the welcoming of your warmth, the ghoul pulls you close being ever so gentle, trying not to wake you. The demon settles on the position of you using his soft chest as a pillow, your body pressed up against his side, and an arm around your shoulder with his hand on your upper back.
Beetlejuice let's out a soft sigh, this, this was nice, the feeling of warmth from your living body against his cold one, you were so soft, and warm, and alive, and you were all his, you just didn't know it yet. The ghoul couldnt help himself, you made him feel so wanted for nothing, of course he was going to fall for you, soon he'll get you to confess your feelings to him and then things will be perfect, but until that day, the demon was fine to snuggle with you, and get satisfaction from you in anyway he could.
His musings of your future love life was cut short with a soft whisper, it was unintelligible, but it was from you.
The ghoul stifled a laugh, you were talking in your sleep again, something you did often, but rarely was the demon able to make out what you were saying.
"What's up sweets? You okay?" He chuckled, hand running up and down your back
You mumble in response
"Oh, what's that? You need mr beebleboose to help you out?"
You hum
"You need me to rub your clothed vagina? Oh, y/n you naughty minx, is it because your so pent up from my little game of teasing-"
The ghoul's mirth was cut short when he felt the soft touch of a warm hand against his clothed dick.
"Whoa, babes, y/n ah-"
At first beetlejuice could have mistaken the first stroke as a slip of the hand, but another? You were gently rubbing his crotch in your sleep.
The ghoul quickly changes his hue to electric pink, and bites his knuckles to try and stop from moaning out as your warm hand continously brushes clumsily against his cock, now fully erect, it was embarrassing how quick the ghoul's meat rose to your touch alone.
"Sugar, you're not playing fair" he groans before bucking into your touch, this wasnt fair, you're dead asleep and playing him like a goddamn fiddle, was this karma? Was this his punishment for making you hot under the collar? I mean as far as punishments go, it could have been worse, but having you touch him in such a way, and not being able to do damn thing about it? Still drove the demon nuts, god slash satan he wanted to wake and rail you, though he knew you would die of embarrassment if you found out what you did to him in your sleep, so here beetlejuice was, stuck between a tock and a hard place.
"Bee..."
The noise nearly stopped the demon's heart, if it was still pumping, beetlejuice glances away from the ceiling over to you, which thank God, you were still asleep, just rambling again.
The ghoul lets out a soft sigh of relief before you interrupt
"Faster?"
The demon nearly dropped his jaw at what you uttered, though he clenched it back shut when he felt your soft hand squeeze his cock through his boxers.
"Harder?" You mumble
"Y/n please" he whines softly "fine, you win babes" he ghoul groans before begrudging brushing your hand away and pulling his painfully hard cock out of his boxers, the ghoul gently guides your eager hand back to his desperate meat, which you gently take hold of, the demon stifles a moan at the rush of warmth of your soft hand against his hard cool cock. Beetlejuice slowly begins to guide your hand up and down his shaft, all while he pants and and moans, hips trying their best not to buck too hard and wake you.
"Oh y/n, theres nothing like doing the stranger, especially if you already know them huh?" He chuckles between pants
"You like that?" You mumble in a whisper
"God slash satan yes" the demon whines, he wanted this for so long, he would have preferred you be awake, but he wasnt going to punch a gift horse in the mouth.
His hand guiding your own began to pick up pace, running up and down his shaft, stopping at the base ever so often to give it a light squeeze.
"Is this good?" You sighed
"Sugar you have no idea" been groaned biting on his knuckles
As good as beetlejuice was at edging he knew he wasnt gonna last long, the warmth and softness of your hand was gonna be the second death of him.
He was in heaven, or as close as a born dead demon was gonna get, but he was brought back quickly to reality when movement beside him.
The smallest squeak of movement from the mattress followed by a soft whine from you, if the ghoul's heart was still pumping it would have stopped by now.
This was it, he was done for, you were gonna see his dirty transgression and banish him forever.
Seconds pass and there was nothing, no screaming, nothing.
Beetlejuice let's out a sigh before returning to guiding your hand up and down his desperate erection.
But you move you body again, a soft bump against the ghoul's side, and another bump, then another, followed by a soft whine from you.
Were you trying to get off?
The demon smiles and stifles a laugh, here he was tending to himself while his sweet little y/n was desperate for a release of their own, what kind of lover would he be if he was to leave his favourite breather hanging?
Beetlejuice moves his free hand from your back, and softly slides it between yours and his bodies, slipping it gently between your legs, where it was greeted with a great warmth. His cool fingers gently press against your clothed sex, he could feel you were already wet, you've been hot under the collar all week due to his teasing, the demon couldnt help but smile at how this was all his doing, with another press against your clothed folds, you let out a soft whine and gently buck up against his hand.
"Bee" you whimper
"Y/n" he sighs, returning his other hand into guiding yours up and down his leaking cock.
Many a nights has beetlejuice dreamed if this exact situation, although in his fantasy you were awake, but this was good too.
"Want me to make a mess honey?" You whined
At this point the ghoul was close to his limit, it was if you could read his mind "oh yeah baby, help daddy make a mess" he groaned using your hand at a more brutal pace, chasing his own orgasm.
"Fuck y/n, that's it, that's it doll, I'm gonna cum, I'm gonna cum all over your pretty hand baby" the ghoul babbled before finally cumming, his ectoplasm splattering all over your hand and the sheets that hid his dirty deed from view, moving you hand away from his now spent cock.
Beetlejuice takes a moment to bask in the after glow, before finally coming down from his sexual high to help you finish.
His attention now, 100% on you, a slight increase in pressure on your crotch as he rubbed, you whined and bucked into his hand, mumbling his name.
Beetlejuice took this opportunity to be a tad more bold, slipping a finger up the pant leg of your boxers and into your soaked vagina, he shivers at the new sensation, warm, wet, alive.
He slowly begins to pump his finger in and out, while his thumb eagerly runs at the clit.
It didnt take long for you to finish ether, due to how tightly wound you already were.
"That's it doll, cum all over my hand, eye for an eye right?" He chuckles
With a gasp and a few messy movements from you hips you cum, coding the demon's hand in your juices.
You slowly stop your thrashing and you panting dies down to soft breathing.
"Was it good for you too?" The ghoul snorts removing his hand from your crotch and bringing it to his mouth, sucking the lucky finger that explored your entrance.
Electricity leaving his hair, but remining pink, content in his late night activities, he snaps his fingers and his cum covering your hand and sheets vanish, as nice a thought was to have you sleep in that mess, youd be furious, and he couldnt have you finding him out just yet.
"Good night y/n" he sighs giving your forehead a soft kiss before dozing off.
Bonus
You woke up groping around for your phone, 10am, you huff, you start to sit up before being yanked back down, into the arms of the demon who snuck into you bed again.
"Wheres the fore babes? It's your day off, come play with old mr beebleboose~" the familiar coo of the undead bastard you welcome into your heart graced your ears.
"Morning beetlejuice" you sigh
"Sleep well doll? Feeling better, you sure were hot last night~" he teased giving your cheek a pinch
"Yeah, I am feeling better..." you trailed off, clearly amazed that you really DID sleep off those frustrations "werid dreams though.." you mumbled
Beej immediately perked up at that "oh~" he leans in nuzzling his face against yours "care to elaborate babes?" This was gonna be good, you were gonna be a cute flustered mess again.
You snort "dont get too excited there Bee, it's not like that, I was standing in the living room shaking a can of pop" you say flatly giving a jerk off type of movement with your hand, the ghoul's eyes grow wide at the gesture, tips of his hair turning pink "you were there, sitting infront of me, I tried to talk to you, but you didnt respond, I just kept shaking the can, till my arm hurt, then I opened it pointed directly at my face, spraying pop all over myself, then the rest is kinda fuzzy..." you trail off knitting your eyebrows together ad if you were trying to remember.
The demon let out a loud cackle causing you to flinch
"Oh babes, guess that dream helped you release all that tension huh?"
Your face burns when It clicks, rubbing you legs together and feeling the familiar feeling of a recent masterbation session, you didnt cum in your sleep did you? God, let's just hope beetlejuice wasnt awake when it happened...

hear you : a.h
after celebrating your promotion with hotch, it tragically ends in an accident with you hospitalised and comatose. yet, somehow you can hear everyone around you, wishing for you to wake up. (1.9k)Â

DO NOT STEAL MY WORK - IT IS ALL MY OWN WRITING
Everything that night occurred in an instant. No one had time to change what happened, even if you wished the events had happened in a different order.
If you hadnât left the restaurant first and walked ahead whilst Hotch admired the fleeting moment. You were laughing giddily as you turned to face him, his arms were crossed over his chest as you danced, still joyful after celebrating your promotion. Perhaps if he caught up to you it wouldâve been someone else lying on the ground.
Yet, as you lie on the ground, life draining from your gaze you canât help but wonder; what if?
The events that lead to you strapped to a hospital bed lifelessly could have all been avoided. If the driver hadnât drunk away his sorrows before picking up his children, families would still be together and one less hospital bed would be filled.
All you can hear is the monotone beeping of your heart monitor. The stench of antibacterial sprays and gels embed themselves into your nostrils alongside the fragrant flowers from Garcia that litter your private room. But out of everything in your environment, thereâs one thing youâre still waiting on; to hear him, to hear Hotch by your side.
What youâre currently certain of is that youâre asleep, comatose. Yet, you can hear everything. This was the sort of thing youâd witnessed happen in TV shows, and youâve listened to Spencer sitting beside you, explaining to Penelope that there have been no claims of comatose patients hearing voices. How they can hear movements or faint sounds, but no details of conversations. All you can do is wait whilst you remain trapped in your own thoughts, unable to react to anything said.
Your daily routine since being âawakeâ is being checked multiple times a day by various Doctors and Nursers. Theyâre very caring as they monitor your heart rate, brain waves, temperature and your comfort levels. You listen to them report technical jargon to one another, and now you wish you paid more attention to Spencer last week after he visited his old Doctor.
Thankfully, youâre allowed to have visitors which makes all the difference- even if they are oblivious to the impact theyâre making.
The first person to visit you tends to be Garcia, you can hear the urgency in her footsteps as her heels click against the lament flooring. She sits with you for a while before work, telling you about how Morgan keeps singing out of tune whilst she is on the phone to him. You wish you could laugh at the little things she describes, hearing about your family try and carry on without you.
Spencer stops by after work with JJ. You can hear how his voice cracks when he sits beside you, JJ on your other side as she rests her hand on yours. Spencer recites facts about comatose patients and if often interrupted by JJ with some happier news about Henry and describes the drawing she brought. You wish you could see it, feel the textures of the paint and cotton he used.
Yet, as much as you love your family, he still hasnât been.
âHey, baby girl.â You hear Morgan walk over toward you, pulling the ancient chair out as it squeaks against the floor. âGarcia tells me youâve been on your own all day,â He begins and you internally chuckle. âand we canât have that so I thought youâd love nothing more than your best man to come on by.â Morgan nudges your hand playfully and laughs to himself.
Youâre desperate to laugh along, joke back like old times, tell him how much Penelope has been going on about their phone conversations and the workplace issues that have arisen.
âI know you havenât seen him yet,â Morganâs tone changes, the light-heartedness has dropped. âbut he has been trying, trust me, we see it every day.â A sigh follows from him, and Morgan drops his head in his hands, thankful you havenât had to witness the state Hotch has been getting himself into.
âHe tries every day to come and see you, baby girl. He, he makes it to the entrance of the hospital and just,â Morgan knows exactly what it is, but he doesnât want to tell you.
Sometimes, the silence is enough for you to figure it out. âIt isnât his fault.â You want to yell out, scream at the top of your lungs, but you remain motionless, simply listening.
Hotch enters the hospital every day since the accident. He came in with you, running by your side as you were wheeled straight into surgery. He stood still as the doors slammed in front of him, taking you out of his sight.
âBut erm, we found out about the guy who caused this. His name was Robert Kingshill.â Morgan starts, unaware that both Penelope and Spencer have already explained the details to you. You home in and out of Morganâs explanation about how Robert was an abusive husband, his children both under 5 years. âHe died on arrival.â
âAnd no one will miss him.â
âSorry to interrupt,â A new voice chimes in, one of the nurses who has been seeing to you; Savannah. Sheâs sweet, attentive and engages with your family. âI just have to check her vitals, Iâll be a few minutes at most.â
âOf course, do you want me to step out?â Morgan asks, his voice softening after he clears his throat. You can almost picture him sitting up straighter, flashing that signature Derek Morgan smirk.
âItâs okay, are we still on for dinner tonight?â Savannah asks, catching you completely off guard as your heart rate spikes. âShit.â She mutters, watching as your heart rate relaxes once more, back to a normal pace.
âWhat was that?â Morgan speaks up, concern lacing his tone.
Savannah remains silent for a moment, too long for your liking. âJust a spike, they can happen now and then.â She brushes it off and steps out of the room, leaving Morgan with you alone once more.
*
âDo you think she can hear us?â Garcia asks as her hand remains in yours, holding it gently whilst Emily hovers by the window, watching as the rain falls against the window.
A loud disheartened sigh echoes. âI donât know, Pen.â Emily states as she turns around. âBut if she can, itâs kinda rude for her not to wake up.â Emily chuckles, and Penelope joins in for a second.
âIf you can hear us, Y/n,â Penelope starts, and you can hear the shake in her voice. âwe all love you, and miss you dearly.â
âWeâre all still here, and will be until you wake up.â Emily adds as she smiles to Penelope, holding her hand out as she gladly accepts as tears fill her eyes once more.
Sniffing to herself, Penelope glances over to the empty doorway. âAnd, and Hotch misses you, Y/n. I know, I know he hasnât been here yet, but he loves you, and Jack does too.â
The thought of Jack causes your heart to ache, how you miss that boy deeply in the evenings when you would go over. Jack would always ask for your help with homework or read with him before he went to sleep. Last month, he called you âMomâ and you didnât know how to react, neither did Aaron. But you let it happen, and carried it on.
Just as Jack felt he had a new Mom, he was at risk of losing her too.
âCome on, we ought to go, let her rest.â Emily states as she walks over to Penelope, taking her arm.
If only they could hear you. You were done with resting.
*
It has almost been a month. At least that is what you hear them say. Outside it has become colder, snow comes and goes, but it never sticks. With ease, you can now clearly differentiate the nurses and the doctorsâ voices, even by the sigh after they do their checks. Youâve heard them discuss your frequent brain activity, which is a good sign. Theyâre now thinking youâre going to wake up, that it could be any day. But then again, theyâve been saying that for the last two weeks.
Another Doctor walks in and checks over you, nothing out of the ordinary as you wish he would stop humming that awful TV show tune. âYou have a visitor this morning, Miss Y/L/N.â He states which is unusual, your visitors are never announced to you, they just sort of appear.
Your ears perk up to the sound of shuffling, quickly followed by a restricted sob, one you sadly could pinpoint; Aaron.
âHi, Y/n,â Aaron quietly speaks up, his voice hoarse as the chair scrapes across the floor and he reaches out, taking your cold hand in his. âIâm sorry I havenât been sooner.â He turns to business mode, forcing confidence even though heâs breaking apart, seeing you like this. âI just,â
âItâs okay, Aaron. Take your time.â You want to tell him, that itâs not easy, nothing about this is. But you simply listen as he exhales shakily and he takes lifts his other hand, enveloping yours into both of his.
A small sigh breaks the moment of silence. âJack, he keeps asking about where you are. Iâm running out of options here, Y/n.â He chuckles out of worry. âJessica has been great, taking care of him and everything, Iâve barely left my office since the accident.â Hotch explains, seeing flashes of light illuminating you that night, like an angel. The excitement in your expression turning to pure terror as he ran toward you, but was too late.
Hotch was always too late to save the women he loves.
âI just, I need you, Y/n.â Hotch mutters. âI canât lose you too, I just canât.â Soft cries sound from him as the door opens, and he sniffs quietly.
âSorry to interrupt, Iâll come back later.â Someone speaks up, and Hotch nods to them before returning his attention to you.
He tried not to stare at the evident wounds and scars that will line your skin forever. The stitches on your forehead from where you hit the ground.
Hotch will never forget how he held you in his arms as you were bleeding, eyes glazed over as he yelled for you to keep your eyes open.
âI know sometimes things arenât always easy for us, with cases and barely having time to ourselves. But I really wanted that night to be special, you deserved a night to be reminded how wonderful you are.â Hotch chuckles dryly, looking around the room. âLook where that got us.â
âItâs not your fault, Aaron.â You scream internally, wishing you could just take hold of his hand, squeeze it tightly and never let go. âPlease, just listen to me, please.â
âI know itâs taken me too long to get here, but I donât know if I can do this, Y/n.â Hotchâs voice hitches as his hands begin to slip out from yours. âReid mentioned how talking to comatose patients is supposed to help but er, I guess weâll eventually find out.â
Rising to his feet, you plead for him to stay, to not leave you here alone.
âI love you Y/n.â Hotch calls out as he stands in the doorway, seeing your chest rising and falling rhythmically, remembering the days where youâd lie beside him in bed, enjoying the moment of tranquil before Jack wound run through the door, waking you from a deep sleep. âI promise Iâll be back soon.â
As Hotch turns the corner, he canât stop the tears from falling as he collapses against one of the walls. Silent cries sound from his lips as a Nurse approaches him, but he brushes her off.
âAar,â Your lips begin to part, a faint sound leaving them. But then silence returns, and youâre still trapped in your mind, wishing he could return.
