Hello, July. 🌧️☔ Sorry, I didn't make a promise to do some improvised item review because No. 1 - I'm still trying to find a decent GPU Card with a cheap price 🔍🤔, No. 2 - My homeland suffered from the devastating (if not deadly) typhoon⛈️🌪️🇵🇭 days ago, and No. 3 - I'm selling non-functional PC stuff that was staying on shelves for a year to make myself a decent profit and buying a new GPU card, with additional adjustments to prevent a similar tragedy. 💵🖥️ (Or maybe, I'll just buy my own laptop instead as an alternative 💻) As of now, I'm still a helper from my parents' small business without paying a salary (at the same time, I'm still looking for a suitable job. Although, its rainy season so maybe I should get a home-based job? Who knows? 🏠🧑‍💻🤔), as they are focused on earning for renovating our home.

• Nevertheless, I'll be continuing to share my family's throwback items from the past, with another Mobile Phone of the 90s. This right here is the "Motorola d368" 🇺🇸📲 released in 1999 during the peak of Motorola above's popularity competing against Nokia and other cellphone brands, not to mention that their brick-shaped CPs will soon be decreased into small and slimmer packages. I mean, take a look when I compare it with my current Honor 8C 🇨🇳📲smartphone. While the specs of this phone were nothing new and a 90s spec standard, what's special to me was my mom used to be a "Motorola" user who owned two phones (including this one) before she switched to "Nokia" 🇫🇮📲 in the early 2000s. Furthermore, I could never forget the ringing sound when either received an SMS text or someone's calling from her former Motorola phone. And does it have games on her Moto (a nickname for "Motorola") phone? As far as I know, Nah. 🎮👾❌ Playing pixel games on her old solid Nokia phone(s) never gets old (than a boring and modern revamped Nokia phones). Nowadays, the Motorola brand had brought back to death after its bankruptcy 🇨🇳📲, and it doesn't have the popularity as before (save it for their iconic "Motorola RAZR", which is pretty rad to look at and owing it, to this very day), meanwhile, both "Samsung" 🇰🇷📲 and "Apple" 🇺🇸📲 (as well as other phone brands that we're budget-friendly) dominate each other with their impressive future-proof specs and features, since 2011; That's 13 years, and its already celebrated 10 years of rivalry. But, what about Nokia? 🤔Well, it had a similar fate as Motorola. So yeah... 🤷‍♀️

• As for this phone, you could see it already a "relic" status, with a missing antenna that went broken, the battery for this phone was long gone, and the phone itself was yet another decommissioned much like the previous old Nokia I'd already tackled on Sept of 2023 [CLICK ME!]. Well, your spotlight moment is over and its time for you to go back where you belong; the box of family memorabilia. 😊🤗

Coming up on a year since NCIS: Los Angeles’ swan song, Daniela Ruah pulls double duty this Monday, April 15, during CBS‘ NCIS line-up.

First up, Ruah reprises her role as Special Agent Kensi Deeks (via an MTAC video conference) during the NCIS franchise’s milestone 1,000th episode, which airs at 9/8c as an episode of NCIS. Then at 10 pm that night, you have the NCIS: Hawai’i episode “The Next Thousand,” which Ruah directed. (Ruah previously directed a half-dozen NCIS: LA episodes, as well as the recent NCIS episode about a kidnapped fiancé.)

TVLine hopped on the phone with Ruah to ask our No. 1 burning question about her NCIS “1,000” cameo, and then talk up her helming of the NCIS: Hawai’i episode about a U.S. Army SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape) training exercise on the Big Island that turns extremely deadly.

TVLINE | First of all, because Kensi dials into MTAC from her car during the NCIS franchise’s 1,000th episode, I need to know: Did you film your scene while you were in a drop-off line? [Laughs] No, I actually filmed that while I was directing in Hawaii. They were like, “Can we fit this into your schedule?” and we were like, “Well, we can’t make it look like I’m in Hawaii.” So, we had to go back and look at pictures of what Kensi’s car looked like to try and get something as similar as possible, to look like Kensi is in her car. I couldn’t even remember, to be honest with you, what brand she drove — I was so immersed in the Hawaii episode – but listen, I wouldn’t have it any other way. To be invited to be a part of the 1,000th episode was such an honor. It’s too big of a deal.

TVLINE | Turning to NCIS: Hawai’i, the episode they gave you to direct is crazy intense. Once you saw what it was going to be, were you charged up? First of all, the fact that all three showrunners wrote it, Jan [Nash], Matt [Bosack] and Chris [Silber], that right there tells you that there’s probably going to be, you know, a little more craziness, or it’ll be more out-of-the-box. I don’t know why, but I always perceive that when a showrunner writes something, they get extra creative.

TVLINE | I think about the specific challenges that this episode must have presented you as director, and not only is almost all of it outdoors, but it’s in the jungle. Did you have to learn anything new in that respect? Yeah — wear long pants and long sleeves, and bring mosquito spray. [Laughs] No, every time I direct something, even if it was still on [NCIS: LA], you’re always learning new things. Here I’m working with a new crew, with a new director of photography, so everybody’s going to teach you new things. Even stunts — when Tennant gets [spoiler], they said, “Here are things that we could do…,” which then allowed me to get creative with the way it was shot.

TVLINE | My next question was actually going to ask, where was that area of volcanic rock? Because it made for some stunning shots. That’s a place called the Lānaʻi Lookout — and there’s water right behind those rocks. I mean, we were literally on the ocean, so we had to adjust the camera angles to hide the water. Like, you shoot one inch to the left or to the right, and all of a sudden you’re exposing the fact that you’re actually not in this barren, isolated area. That’s the strategy and the magic and the figuring out that I have to do as a director.

TVLINE | The episode opens closes with some nice scenes between Tennant and Kate (played by Tori Anderson), which is a character dynamic the fans enjoy. What were you looking to capture there? First of all, [Vanessa and Tori] are both absolute sweethearts, and they have such amazing chemistry in real life, so it’s not a hard thing to do scenes with them. But yeah, you get this contrast of a character, Tennant, who is experienced and can improvise and who has kind of “seen it all,” versus a newer agent who’s really eager to do well, but she’s super by-the-book.

TVLINE | The Sam/Kate scenes are also interesting because — and this didn’t dawn on me until Kate mentioned it herself — they hadn’t really interacted yet. Exactly. Yeah, I love that conversation that Kate and Sam have at the desk when she’s just kind of struggling to figure things out, and he tells a little story of his own past and his own experience….

TVLINE | Sam specifically shares with Kate some advice he once got from an agent “much wiser” than him. I tried Googling the line he says, but came up empty. Was it from any NCIS: LA episode? Maybe it was Hetty…? I know that there is one Easter egg [in the episode] from Gibbs, and so maybe the other one was Hetty. Maybe. I’m not sure!

NCIS has locked in its plan to pay tribute to original cast member David McCallum, who died on Sept. 25 at age 90.

TVLine can exclusively report that the second episode of the new NCIS season will address McCallum’s passing and serve as a tribute to his beloved character, chief medical examiner-turned-NCIS Historian Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard.

Quite fittingly, longtime cast member Brian Dietzen — who since Season 1 has played Ducky’s protege, Dr. Jimmy Palmer — is co-writer on the episode, with executive producer Scott Williams.

NCIS Season 21 premieres Monday, Feb. 12 at 9/8c; the McCallum/Ducky tribute will air the following week, on Feb. 19.

In an exclusive statement to TVLine, NCIS co-showrunners/executive producers Steven D. Binder and David North said, “Everyone at NCIS felt it was important to do an episode that honors such a legendary actor, not to mention a dear friend.

“In the episode, the team will learn of Ducky’s passing and reflect on their memories of him as they grieve,” the EPs previewed. “And true to Ducky’s meticulous and compassionate nature, even after he’s gone, he still manages to solve one last crime with the team.”

Binder and North were mum on any cameos/returning cast (as speculated on by TVLine), though their statement does note, “There will also be a very touching and special moment you won’t want to miss.”

McCallum played Ducky for all 20 seasons that have aired thus far, most recently appearing (remotely) in the final two episodes of Season 20 last spring. (Ducky as of late was largely off-screen, on a globe-trotting book tour; his most recent video consultation was delivered from a stop in Edinburgh.)

The Scottish actor had been the show’s last remaining original cast member following the exit of series lead Mark Harmon early in Season 19. (Sean Murray, as Special Agent Timothy McGee, and Dietzen both started off as recurring.)

“For over 20 years, David McCallum endeared himself to audiences around the world playing the wise, quirky, and sometimes enigmatic, Dr. Donald ‘Ducky’ Mallard,” Binder and North said in a statement at the time of McCallum’s death. “But as much as his fans may have loved him, those who worked side by side with David loved him that much more …. From Day 1, it was an honor to work with him and he never let us down. He was, quite simply, a legend.”

It was a calm winter evening, snow was slowly falling in Edo and everyone was trying to go home to get under a cozy blanket, or was already. You and Gintoki were at home alone, cuddling on the sofa as Kagura and Shinpachi had decided to spend some time at Otae’s.

Your relationship had always been weird: Gintoki wasn’t exactly a responsible person, yet he acted like a father figure to the two teenagers that lived with him, and you had a soothing energy that calmed them all down when they were stressed, almost like a mother figure. However, no one really took you two seriously. You were the loudest, most known couple in all Edo (possibly in the whole universe, most Amanto had heard of you two one way or another) because despite your caring natures you seemed to wreak havoc all around you, following the most honorable morals, but delivering them in the worst way possible. Like that one time a client asked you both to persuade her beloved not to leave Earth for work and you two decided that, obviously, the best way to do that would be to destroy the O-Edo Central Terminal, where all spaceships arrive and depart. If anyone had to describe your way of doing things, it would probably be “mission failed successfully”.

The two of you respected each other more than anyone else, and craved alone time more than anything, so you decided to sit on the sofa, watch some TV and have a lazy date. You couldn’t think of anything that could make that moment better, until Gintoki came up with a proposal.

“Say, do you want some hot chocolate?”

Whether you like hot chocolate or not, you agreed. Not really because you wanted the drink, but more because you knew he did so, why not? You expected him to ask you to get up and make it, but he got up instead and disappeared into the kitchen before you could protest. It was unusual of him to cook (or try to) and for obvious reasons, you couldn’t really shake off the eerie feeling that something wouldn’t exactly go as planned. As suspected, you were right. A few moments later the smell of burnt chocolate filled the house, but it was weird, it didn’t even smell like normal chocolate and, as you walked into the kitchen, you asked yourself how he could even mess up a two ingredients recipe. As soon as you saw him, you couldn’t help but giggle a little: he was frantically waving a cloth on the stoves trying to put out the fire, spitting out loud every single curse that came to his mind. He didn’t seem to understand why the flames kept coming up and expanding even though he kept putting them out, and that’s when you noticed the gas was still on. Carefully, but nonchalantly, you turned it off and stared at your boyfriend with an emotionless expression that caused an awkward but rather comedic silence. You let out a deep breathe a few seconds later and the smell of burnt chocolate (if that’s still what it could be called) filled your nostrils so intensely that you had to resist the urge to gag.

“Gin… what did you do?”

He looked around somewhat ashamed and proud at the same time.

“I know you are lactose intolerant so I wanted to make you hot chocolate with water”.

As soon as you heard that you started laughing uncontrollably and, even though the thought was cute, you couldn’t understand how he even thought about that.

“I love you, I really do, but you’re so stupid sometimes”.

That said you both started cleaning up and you explained him that a little milk wouldn’t kill you at all and that, just to be safe, you’d be the one to make hot chocolate from that day onward.

Back in July of 2019, BNA had already launched the WMMT6 arcade machine spreading the arcade branches (e.g. Timezone Arcade, Quantum Arcade, etc..) inside the Philippine malls, and to this day the "number 6" Wangan Maxi Tune installment has updated to "6RR"! 🇵🇭🌃🛣️🚘🕹️ Will it soon be updated from "6RR" to "6RR Plus" and meet new cars, including the new Nissan car? 🤔 I won't spoil you, so you have to search it for yourself! 😉

Hello, January! Sorry for the long delay, though. Because I have a lot of things that happened at the beginning of 2024. And GOOD NEWS, I've bought something that makes my PC bring back to LIFE, after 7 months of being inactive (since Jun 9th, 2023)! 🖥️🔧😀 Although I'm still working on the topic, maybe I'll submit it this Feb 2024! 😁

Right now, it's time for my 1st throwback item share of 2024, with this neat-old camera (as my improvise).🙂

• Here's another '90s camera, this is the Olympus Camedia C-2000 Z 📷 inherited from my late grandpa named Jim, who passed away on Jun 6th, 2020 owing to complications, as well as the victim of the COVID-19 virus. Once again, R.I.P, grandpa Jim. 😔⚱️🥀 Believe it or not, I used this '90s camera for submitting on dA, back in Jan 2010. 🙂📸🖼️

• Anyways, the 90s Olympus cam possessed 2.1 megapixels of camera 📷✌️, which was pretty clear & and crisp at the time. However, as of 2024, it is considered a pretty low megapixel that no other modern high-quality companies make that, anymore. 🤷‍♀️ Except for cheap gadgets, of course. And when you compare to your (flagship/mid-range) smartphones 📱/digital cameras 📷 that possessed a whopping 150+ Megapixels, and sometimes 200+ megapixels for the Pro-DSLR camera brands 📷🖼️ speaks volumes to the consumers. It was simply an evolution of the camera lens. Today, like the brick phones from the 90s, the 90s cameras we're now a relic status of the past, meaning no one's using them, anymore due to outdated hardware. They now act as a throwback collection, which simply refuses to throw the trash 🚯, like this ancient 90s Olympus camera. 📷🫳 But hey, if your 90s camera still functions, then you're lucky to used it, but please be careful. 😉

• So, what about the "Olympus" 🇯🇵📷 brand? What happened? Are they still producing cameras? 🤔 Well, according to "quora.com", quote "Olympus has announced in June 2020 that it is selling its camera division to Japan Industrial Partners (JIP) and will exit the camera business altogether. The sale to JIP was completed in January 2021, and the new company created from the sale is called OM Digital Solutions." This means the Olympus camera brand is already off the camera wars; with Canon, Sony, and other Japanese camera brands still running the camera business. However, the Smartphone cameras became more advanced than the old-style digital cams. Here's hoping, that the digit cams will have the same treatment, or maybe still be around in case the smartphone's camera pixels weren't enough, in terms of the raw image.📷🤞

• Uh yeah, I forgot that the camera includes a soft case fitting for this model. And look, my paper dolls were delighted to see a throwback camera & they wanted a snapshot using it. 🙂📸 Yeah, but it's no longer working 📷❌, and I tried (using 4 Eneloop AA Batteries) 🔋🔋🔋🔋🤷‍♀️. So much so, that I decided to pretend to take snapshots with the old cam while taking photos with my actual camera from my current smartphone (Honor 8C). Was that a coincidence? 🤔 I'm not so sure 😅, but they're delighted. 😊

Listening to Brian Dietzen, who since Season 1 has played NCIS‘ Dr. Jimmy Palmer, reflect on the life and legacy of David McCallum, it becomes especially clear that he deserved to have a hand in crafting the episode that pays tribute to both his late castmate and Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard.

Nearly five months after McCallum’s death, CBS‘ NCIS this Monday at 9/8c will air “The Stories We Leave Behind,” which Dietzen co-wrote with executive producer Scott Williams. In that can’t-miss episode, as NCIS mourns Ducky, the agents find some comfort in working on one of his unfinished cases involving a woman whose father was dishonorably discharged from the Marines.

Here, Dietzen speaks with TVLine about honoring “not only the character of Ducky, but also David McCallum, in a proper way”….

TVLINE | When this episode came along, did the producers instinctively reach out to you, as a longtime scene partner of David’s, or did you step forward and volunteer your writing services? BRIAN DIETZEN | Before David passed, we had that work stoppage with the WGA and SAG strikes, so I had said to Steven Binder and David North, our showrunners, “I don’t need to write this year,” because we only have 10 episodes. I didn’t want to insert myself. But then when David passed away, Scott Williams, my co-writer, volunteered to do this episode and he said to me, “I thought it was only right that you co-write with me.” And then everybody in the room said, “Yeah, that’s perfect. That’s what should happen.” And I said, “Absolutely, I’d be honored to.”

TVLINE | Who in the process comes up with the basic framework for an episode such as this? Scott and I talked about it, and decided we still wanted it to be an NCIS show — it wasn’t going to be entirely a clip show of “Ducky’s Greatest Hits.” We wanted to have a case, and thought we should come up with a case that’s thematically linked in some way to losing a valued and loved team member. So we came up with this concept of how, when we’re done with with life, the stories that we leave behind are what’s important. What’s important is what’s left to our loved ones.

TVLINE | The episode opens by jumping back a bit in time to show Jimmy actually finding Ducky, passed away, when you could have instead picked up with the phone call at the end of the season premiere. What was important to you about including that particular moment? I think everyone knows that we want to honor not only the character of Ducky, but also David McCallum, in a proper way, and what was important about it was showing that this is a family — how you come in and take care of your own, how you are there for your loved ones. This is a part of Jimmy’s daily existence, going into Ducky’s house and picking him up to bring him to work, dropping off some coffee, maybe just checking in on him as you do with with a family member. I thought that it was really important to show how hard this team is hit, how hard they’re rocked by this loss. And the person that certainly was closest to him was Jimmy.

TVLINE | It would make sense that this episode focuses a bit more on Jimmy, a bit more on McGee, because they’ve been around for the whole stretch. Is that how it ended up panning out, that their reactions got a little more emphasis than others? Since Jimmy worked so closely with Ducky, for a couple decades, it made sense that a lot of the story would be retold through his eyes and his memories. And certainly, McGee had been there with him as well, but what was really important to Scott and I, and to the whole crew, was that we honor Ducky’s relationship with the larger team, not meaning just the current team of Parker and Knight and Torres and McGee and Kasie, but also the teams that came before. We wanted to make sure that some of these memories, and some of these loved ones and family members from past iterations of the NCIS team, were represented, and that his relationship with with those characters was honored as well.

TVLINE | Along those lines, what are you at liberty to say about how you navigated that sticky wicket of giving viewers a sense of how, say, Gibbs takes this news? That’s one of those things where every idea under the sun was thrown at us, from the network on down. “Can we get every person that’s ever been in the history of NCIS, and all of its sister shows, back together for one scene where everyone’s sitting together?” Logistically, those things aren’t really a possibility, unfortunately, so we tried to have shout-outs to these other field offices around the country, throughout the show, and also show tokens of admiration and honor that are coming from past team members — as well through flashback scenes, or even gifts that they’re sending, tokens of love.

TVLINE | One thing that always fascinates me, technically, about episodes like this is: Whose job is it to cherry-pick incredibly perfect archival sound bites and flashback moments? That’s us. That’s that’s me sitting here with a Paramount+ account, man, watching NCIS until my eyes bleed. Yeah, Scott and I watched a ton, and a few of our writers, writer’ assistants and specifically [producer] Justin [Kilmer] watched a lot, as well. We knew, “OK, we want this sort of scene,” “We want that sort of scene.” And there’s almost a bit of a reverse engineering where you go, “I remember this really great thing that we did in the [Season 10] episode ‘Detour,’ where we’re running through the forest and it’s snowing and we’re arguing over who’s should have the gun and who shouldn’t,” and I’m like, “I want to add that in there somewhere, but I’m not sure where,” so you craft the scene so that it works within the scene.

TVLINE | If you don’t mind me asking, when had you last spoken to David? I spoke to him on his birthday, which was on Tuesday [Sept. 19], and then he passed away that Saturday, on the 25th. So, yeah, it was it was a couple of days before. That was his 90th birthday, a few days before he passed away. We got to speak, we got to chat. He was coherent and all that…. I’m really, really glad that I got to speak to him one last time. It was really wonderful.

TVLINE | How would you say that David’s passing recontextualized the otherwise long-awaited return to work for everyone, after the strikes? It was very interesting, because, yeah, it puts a lot of things in perspective, obviously. I mean, we all know that we’re blessed to be on the show, man. You certainly know that, you’ve been covering the show for a long time. It’s a wonderful group of people, and it’s not lost on us at all how blessed we are to have the jobs that we do, to tell the stories that we do. So, I think every single one of us was really champing at the bit to get back to work.

Then when David passed away…. I was walking on picket lines and there were a lot of people I would see, that I didn’t even know, that would come up and extend their condolences, just because he had meant a lot to them and I was the closest thing to a “family member” or something. It’s not like his kids, or his wife, are walking out there, so they’d come up and say, “I’m so sorry, I know you guys are really tight.” That was wonderful to see and hear. And I’ll tell you what, when shooting this episode, there were a lot of David McCallum stories flying left and right, a lot of fun stuff that’s happened over the course of 20 years. A lot of it we were fortunate enough to capture in the script and show some memories. But there were some [stories] that we were like, “That’s just for us. That’s just for our people that are making the show, and that stays in the family.” It was cool to explore both.

I could never forget my friend Rom customizes on his Gunpla to my OCs, and hope we could used & adapt his works as our "Cuteness Mecha" armors. (Maybe, but I rather on my own.)😟🤖📲

• Nonetheless, I decided to draw this farewell moment w/ his entire active OCs & mine gathering around for the final farewell bow (a Japanese tradition).
