KINGS OF WESTEROS DURING AEGON'S CONQUEST
Aegon's Conquest, also called the Conquest, was the campaign in which Aegon I Targaryen conquered most of Westeros. Aegon subdued six of the Seven Kingdoms, successfully resisted only by Dorne.

The Order of the Green Hand was a knightly order founded by House Gardener, the Kings of the Reach, whose sigil was a green hand. Only those both virtuous and skilled in arms were offered membership. The last members of the Order died with King Mern IX Gardener at the Field of Fire during the Aegon’s Conquest.

House Gardener OC’s
Tumblr media
So from left to right with little schpiels 1 and 2 are the brother and sister, children of the second born Gardener brother and his Hightower wife. Prince Andrys Gardener, The Thorn, is 22, a warrior born, gay, and extremely overprotective of his little sister. Princess Rosalind Gardener, Little Rose, 18, is the youngest gardener cousin, she is also the head lady-in-waiting to her Queen, born premature, her mother died in child birth, her father refused to hold her or name her, her brother named her, her father died when she was a year old, she is considered to be one of the most beautiful maidens in the realm. She is a kind girl, in love with plants and art. Queen Lynesse Gardener, 20, The Fair Flower of The Reach, the only daughter to the eldest Gardner brother, a king. She was raised as heir and is an extremely competent politician, currently trying to find matches for her cousins. Princess Desmera Gardener, 19, daughter to the youngest Gardener brother and a Redwyne mother. Desmera is a kind and quiet girl, growing up in the Arbor but moving to Highgarden when she was 16 after the death of both of her parents.
3/4 characters aren’t by me, they are from a discord rp server, Rosalind is my creation

A Game of Thrones, Tyrion II
His own remote ancestor, King Loren of the Rock, had tried to stand against the fire when he joined with King Mern of the Reach to oppose the Targaryen conquest.
That was close on three hundred years ago, when the Seven Kingdoms were kingdoms, and not mere provinces of a greater realm.
Between them, the Two Kings had six hundred banners flying, five thousand mounted knights, and ten times as many freeriders and men-at-arms.
Aegon Dragonlord had perhaps a fifth that number, the chroniclers said, and most of those were conscripts from the ranks of the last king he had slain, their loyalties uncertain.
The hosts met on the broad plains of the Reach, amidst golden fields of wheat ripe for harvest.
When the Two Kings charged, the Targaryen army shivered and shattered and began to run.
For a few moments, the chroniclers wrote, the conquest was at an end…
…But only for those few moments, before Aegon Targaryen and his sisters joined the battle.
It was the only time that Vhagar, Meraxes, and Balerion were all unleashed at once.
The singers called it the Field of Fire.
Near four thousand men had burned that day, among them King Mern of the Reach.
King Loren had escaped, and lived long enough to surrender, pledge his fealty to the Targaryens, and beget a son, for which Tyrion was duly grateful.

Considering the First Men to have had the Bronze Age style of governing, why did the Gardeners and Starks (who not only survived but thrived during the Andal Invasions) adopt the feudalism of the Andals rather them maintain their more centralised goverments? Seems particularly strange that feudalism spread to the North where not only Theon "Hungry Wolf" went as far as to attack Andalos on his oposition to all things Andal, but the North and the heavily andalised Vale spent centuries fighting the Worthless War, which must have kept the hatred going.
This is an excellent question!
I think the answer is very different for the Starks versus the Gardeners, Lannisters, and Durrandons, because the Starks were able to use their geographic advantage to keep the Andals out in a way that the southron kingdoms just couldn't do after the fall of the Vale and the Riverlands.
As for the Gardeners and Lannisters and Durrandons, I think the answer is that adopting Andal feudalism allowed them to make use of Andal manpower. As I discuss in my Politics of the Seven Kingdoms series, we know that the Gardeners adopted Andal culture and then used Andal expertise in boat-building and castle-building to permanently destroy the Ironborn threat on their western flank, and that the Lannisters did the same thing to expand their borders eastwards and bring the petty kings and lords of the hills under their dominion for the first time. And so on.
For the Starks, I think feudalism took a much longer time to develop precisely because Theon the Hungry Wolf stopped the Andals dead in their tracks and the Andals were never able to establish a foothold in the North either via the Neck or the east coast. When did it arrive in the North, I'm not certain: I think the earliest is sometime during the Worthless War and the latest is probably the arrival of the Manderlys.

Garth Greenhand
Tumblr media
Headcanon:
It is said that Garth Greenhand had the ability to communicate with plants and animals, and that he could make them grow and thrive simply by singing to them. It was said that his voice was so powerful and melodious that it could charm even the most stubborn of plants and animals, and that he would often spend hours singing to his crops and livestock, ensuring their health and prosperity. According to legend, his singing was so beautiful that it could bring tears to the eyes of those who heard it, and it was said that even the gods themselves would pause to listen when Garth Greenhand sang.

Shows you should save physically immediately + addition I recommend reading
Over the Garden Wall -- It's being pulled from HBO Max on August 31 and knowing HBO, there's a chance it'll be pulled sooner. *I have now made a Google Drive of all the episodes of OTGW. Please, please, please, PLEASE, save these on a physical device.
The Owl House -- Disney has tried to bury this show many times (giving it a weird release schedule, cutting the budget, etc) and has even cancelled the show. Also, Disney+ is going to nuke their catalogue soon and I doubt TOH will survive*I have now also saved all the episodes of TOH. Click here for the posts with all of the episodes
Amphibia -- I know less about the behind the scenes BS than TOH but Amphibia was screwed over by Disney mainly by poor promotion. Also since one of the protagonist is openly bisexual*, like TOH, I really can't imagine this would survive.*Amphibia has also been saved. Go here for the post with all the episodes.
Steven Universe -- Cartoon Network cancelled Steven Universe and gave it a weird release schedule, it has also just been pulled from HBO Max.
Gravity Falls -- Once again, Disney+ is going to nuke their catalogue at some point in the future and between Wendy being canonically bi, Sheriff Blubs and Deputy Durland being in a relationship, and Alex Hirsch (being the amazing man that he is) constantly calling Disney out on their BS, I imagine that Disney would be more than willing to nuke Gravity Falls. *I’ve also saved Gravity Falls now go to the main post here to see all the episodes.
and most importantly
Every single show, book, game, fanfiction, movie, etc you've ever loved
We now know that at any moment's notice, streaming services can and will just nuke their catalogue without hesitation. If it's digital, it can be removed and there's a likely chance you'll never see it again.
So, please take some time to save anything you love on an external device. It could be a box set (it can be official or fan-made one), a USB, or anything.
If you have a physical copy of something, it's yours forever and no one can take that away from you.
*Edit because I’ve seen some confusion about this. Read this again, it’s “one of the protagonists” not “the protagonist.” Sasha is the one who’s bi, Anne’s sexuality hasn’t been confirmed.
Also in addition to this, people have reblogged this to say Steven Universe is still on HBO. Since I don’t have HBO, I’ve been going off of what people have been saying and I’ve seen it mentioned that HBO was taking off SU. You should still save it though.
*Edit 2 if any of the links here don’t work, check the original post as I might’ve changed/updated them. If that still doesn’t work, send me an ask or DM I’ll give them to you.

HOUSE TYRELL
The Tyrells rose to power as stewards to the Kings of the Reach, whose domain included the fertile plains of the southwest from the Dornish Marches and Blackwater Rush to the shores of the Sunset Sea.
Through the female line, they claim descent from Garth Greenhand, gardener king of the First Men, who wore a crown of vines and flowers and made the land bloom.
When King Mern, last of the old line, perished on the Field of Fire, his steward Harlen Tyrell surrendered Highgarden to Aegon Targaryen, pledging fealty. Aegon granted him the castle and dominion over the Reach.
The Tyrell sigil is a golden rose on a grass-green field.
Their words are Growing Strong.
Principal houses sworn to Highgarden are Vyrwel, Florent, Oakheart, Hightower, Crane, Tarly, Redwyne, Rowan, Fossoway, and Mullendore.
