He won’t - you’re too dear to him and he’s too good, he wouldn’t do this to you as a joke. “I didn’t the first time around,” He admits, “We were young and I was pretty stupid.” You’re surprised he’s talking about it. So far the conversations around his ex-wife have just been that he has one. You’re quiet as Borracho tells you about her, about them; you’re not jealous, you’re comforted, actually. He’s trusting you with this. “...Have you ever wanted to marry anyone you’ve been with?” He asks after he’s gone quiet about her. You shake your head a little bit. You don’t find out just how big of a night out Borracho had until about two hours later, when his phone buzzes. The two of you have been settled on the couch with the tv volume turned way down, zoning out to Breaking Bad reruns. He reads the text, and he groans.

“What is it?” You ask.

“...You’re gonna find out, anyway,” He mumbles and passes you his phone. It’s a text from Nick, Checked public records - no wedding certificate for Borracho and Tech. Henderson and Connors, pay up.

“Explain?”

As a thank you to my 230 followers. I decided to write out a concept I brought up a while ago. I know not everyone is here for my sides stuff, I'll write something for OUAT and Voltron too. So here's the first of the two part Sanders sides instalment of my 'secretly dating bet' idea.

Secret but not forbidden

Roman was pouting.

It wasn't very princely and he wasn't proud of it, but he was pouting none the less. Finally he gets Virgil to go on a quest with him and just about everything that could go wrong did.

Now he was dirty and soaked and injured.

“I can't believe you. Why in the world would you even go head to head with a manticore? What were you thinking?” Virgil mumbled as he helped Roman get to the bed in the abandoned cottage they found. Their first lucky break since they left the castle.

“I'm telling you falloutboy. I've fought more ferocious creatures than that and gotten away with barely a scratch… this one just got- argh!” Just then Roman accidentally moved his foot and a vicious sting shot through his body.

Virgil scowled as he took in Roman's pained expression. “Can't you just magic your injuries better? Or do you enjoy making me play nurse?”

Roman let out a flustered scoff at the accusation. “No! It's… I…it’s against the rules!”

Virgil blinked a few times in astonishment. “Rules…?”

Roman lifted his chin in defiance. “Unlike my brother I like to run a world where there is consistency and consequences. Until we get back to my room I’ll have to heal naturally,” he huffed as he turned away dramatically, ready for Virgil to berate him some more… but nothing came.

He turned back to Virgil and found the darker side looking at him thoughtfully.

“What?” he demanded.

Virgil shook his head and focused his attention on Roman's ankle.

“It' just… really mature of you… in your own way…” Virgil muttered as he ever so gently inspected the wound and tested how much movement it could handle.

Roman didn't realize he'd leaned in to see what he was doing until Virgil looked up and the tips of their noses came a hair’s width apart.

They both leaned back as fast as they could. Without another word, Virgil scrambled to his feet to get a fire started to warm them both up.

Roman took the time to consider the day’s events. If he was honest most of his misfortunes, with the exception of the unexpected downpour that had forced them to seek shelter, had one and the same cause. He had been distracted.

And not just today. He'd been noticing his tendency to get lost in thought when he was around a specific side a few weeks ago.

“I found some dry blankets,” Virgil announced, not quiet looking at him as he laid one next to Roman, another already wrapped around his own frame.

“Give me your cloak and stuff, I’ll lay it out to dry.”

Roman really, really wanted to protest, but he felt that would give him away so he just got it over with as fast as possible. And honestly, the warm blanket was worth the mild embarrassment.

Virgil sat down next to him.

“Your horses wouldn't happen to be the kind that always return in the end would they?”

Roman chuckled humorlessly. “They're not supposed to run off with all our supplies while we refill our canteens in the first place…” he should have tied them down better, but he had seen them brave much worse threats than a stray viper and he'd wanted to join Virgil at the river as soon as he could.

“I don't get it it's as if the entire realm…” then it clicked. “Oh…”

“Is that a good ‘Oh’ or a bad one?” Virgil asked tensely.

Roman blushed and looked back at his companion. “I… the imagination is playing out a different story than I thought… it's forcing us to follow the narrative.” His kingdom was trying to set him up.

“So you know what to do?” Virgil looked relieved. Roman was terrified.

“Yes. If I am right… well we could be home within the hour.” But everything would be different.

“That's great… isn't it?” Virgil picked up on Roman’s nervousness. Well, if he was going to risk it all he better go all in.

He took a deep breath and allowed his face to be soft, his eyes admiring, to show how he truly felt around his former adversary. He gently took Virgil's hand in his.

“Thank you, for saving me from the manticore… I am continuously astounded by your courage.”

Virgil blushed under Roman's praise and intense gaze, but he didn't look away.

“Virgil you are… I…” suddenly Roman felt soft lips gently touching his. The moment was over so fast he almost thought he might have imagined it. But then Virgil spoke. “Me too.”

Roman was ecstatic. He swiftly took hold of Virgil's face and kissed him properly.

And just when they parted they heard horses outside and a voice calling out for them.

“Deus ex machina?” Virgil scoffed dryly. The grin on his face took away from it though.

“Looks like we brought the story to it’s desired end. So… just to be clear…”

“Ugh. You want to hear me say it don't you?” Virgil complained.

“By the gods no. Not unless you want to. Just… we are officially dating, right?”

Virgil sighed. “Yes Princey. We're official. Now let's see about getting back so we can tell the others. Pat is going to freak!” Roman chuckled and let Virgil pull him up.

The man who'd followed their horses to their refuge had brought fresh clothes and some pain soothing herbs that would let Roman get home without too much trouble.

On their way Roman thought about everyone’s reactions… and out of nowhere he got an idea for an interesting once in a lifetime prank.

“Virgil?”

Virgil chuckled. “What? One kiss and you’ve got no more clever nicknames?” he teased.

Roman chuckled. “I have plenty don't you worry my dark knight in patched up armor. But I was wondering… what if we didn't tell anyone?”

Virgil grew silent. “you… don't want the others to know?” he asked tensely.

“My dear angel of darkness, I would love to shout from the rooftops that you are mine. But… what if we let them figure it out on their own?”

Virgil’s guarded expression immediately gave way to a mischievous gleam.

“Want to make it interesting?”

Roman was glad Virgil seemed on board. “I’m listening."

“Whoever does the thing that makes everyone realize we’re together has to plan our first official date.”

Roman nodded. “Alright, but some ground rules. We can’t straight up lie. And Remus doesn't count.” Virgil grinned wickedly. Already imagining the harmless chaos they were about to cause.

“Deal.” And with that they arrived at the gateway.

If the others noticed a difference when they got back, none of them mentioned it. To be fair their banter had steadily grown more and more flirty even before they confessed so the change might not raise any suspicion.

In all honesty it made their little game more exciting. They kept pushing the line of what they could get away with. Roman especially had a blast finding excuses to get close to Virgil and touch him casually in front of the others. His favorite was when one morning he took full advantage of Virgil's habit to sit on the kitchen counter for breakfast.

He stepped up to him and reached overh his head to get in the spice cabinet. He looked down at Virgil with a pleased grin when he noticed his boyfriend struggle to keep himself from checking him out. His sleepatire was much more casual and while he usually never left his room unless impeccably dressed and completely groomed, today he hadn't even combed his hair. Roman had found that Virgil had yet to deem any look on him unattractive and it had done wonders for his self image. So he let himself relax a little when it came to his appearance and man was it paying off.

"Eres tan lindo," he whispered lowly before stepping away, leaving Virgil to compose himself. Logan, who was reading the newspaper at the table didn't even spare them a glance.

While Roman liked proximity and sweet nothings as his hints to the others Virgil set up inuendo's and jumped on every opportunity to imply their relationship, remaining vague enough to be written of as something else.

"We both know who you think is the hottest of all of us. Fairest of them all, if you will, a hot topic..." he grinned during a game of truth or dare where Patton had dared Roman to give complement cards to the side they fit best with in his opinion.

Roman just threw up his hands and conceded.

“You got me there short, dark and handsome.” The jab at Virgil's height earned him a pillow to the face. And once again they flew straight under the radar.

The first real close call came from Remus. As expected honestly...

“Come on! I get why you are nit a fan of the classic princes, but Naveen and Tiana?!” Roman exclaimed gesturing to the paused screen that showed off the couple in question during their first wedding. They were sitting on the floor of Roman's room, cuddling underneath a blanket fort. Virgil had ran in earlier because he'd felt an attack coming up and wanted his boyfriend with him.

Once he'd calmed down Roman had made them both comfortable and got them some comfort snacks.

“They are fine. Tiana and Megara are my favorite Disney ladies. And Naveen is a well meaning airhead who can handle being humbled by a far more competent woman. But that,” Virgil gestured wildly at the screen. “Is not the best Disney kiss.”

“Alright. Then what is?” Roman demanded. Ready to defend this one. It was earned it came with magnificent outfits and the dialogue!

“This,” Virgil purred before laying one on Roman.

It was short and sweet and perfect. When Virgil pulled back he found his boyfriend looking rather pleased with himself. “What?”

“’So what you are saying is, I’m a Disney Prince?”

Virgil chuckled. “Well Thomas stole the show in a Disney production twice. And you are a Prince so…” Virgil didn't het to add anything else because Roman was now kissing him. It was a happy kiss. Playful and light but also earnest and…

“Roma…” when the door burst open they parted ways. Remus was balancing a pile of papers, props and fabrics related to whatever elaborate prank he’d come up with and didn't look at them in time to see them making out. But their position was far from platonic.

His eyes widened, he dropped everything and ran of screeching.

“Rude,” Roman muttered looking at the chaos his brother left behind.

“Leave it. He can clean it up himself. Let's finish the movie. Next one's my pick,” Virgil suggested, sitting back upright in a slightly less compromising position.

Roman considered going after Remus for a second. But he'd probably come back of his own accord.

And indeed. They'd only just settled back in after putting on Treasure Planet when the door flew open.

“See!?” Remus screeched gesturing to them in their fort.

He was talking to Janus, Patton and Logan who were taking in the scene.

“Did I misunderstand? Based of the description you provided I was under the impression we would find them in at the very least a state of undress.”

Virgil burst out laughing while Roman gasped scandalized.

“I'd never! Not without proper courting! Patton did I ever ask your permission to win Virgil' affections?”

“Pardon?” Virgil asked no longer laughing.

“If I were to ask you out it wouldn't be very princely to do so without Padre's approval,” Roman explained casually. "Then I’d ask you for the honor of taking you on a date.” Roman then turned back to their audience so he could pretend he wasn't aware of Virgil's blush.

“What exactly did he drag you lot here for?” he asked, sounding like he didn't even care.

“According to him you two were ‘going at it’?” Janus drawled narrowing his eyes at Roman. The snake might not approve of them. But Roman didn't really care about his opinion so it was fine.

Virgil groaned. “I… needed to calm down. Roman helped me out and we started watching Disney movies. We were not planning to do anything above a pg rating.”

“Oh… well… we'll let you get back to that then…” Patton smiled though he looked disappointed. Virgil was pretty sure he was rooting for them.

“Thanks Popstar,” he sighed relieved as Patton ushered the others outside. “Remus! Get your stuff to your side of the room at least!” Roman called after his brother. Remus reappeared in the doorframe with a pout. He started picking up his stuff as the door closed behind him.

Suddenly he heard Roman and Virgil chuckle. He looked up and they looked a lot cozier. Roman even kissed Virgil' hair. Dropping everything once more he jumped up and down pointing at them accusingly. “I knew it!” he screeched.

“If only your mind hadn't been in the gutter. Then it wouldn't have been so easy to keep it secret,” Roman grinned, relishing just a little in his brother's frustration.

“Your little stunt could've lost you the bet though,” Virgil countered.

Remus looked lost so Roman and Virgil explained the bet to him.

“So… what are you going to do? Tell everyone we're an item. Or help us?”

Remus grinned at his brother and his childhood friend.

Y/N can’t think of the last time she’s ever felt this lonely. Which is pretty ironic seeing as her relationship was bound to fail - not that she was trying to make it fail. But it’d been a few weeks now, that she started getting that feeling that her boyfriend - well, ex now actually - was showing less and less interest in her as the days dragged on. They hadn’t been dating that long, and she’d tried to make it work, even when he denied wanting out. Part of her was excited Christmas was around the corner, because maybe, just maybe she would be able to get him into the holiday spirit. Maybe he would stop make up excuses when she’d ask him over for a nice comfy night in. Safe to say that hope was crushed when he spoke those four words. “We need a break.” A break? From what? There had been practically nothing to need a break from. And it’s not like she was going to fight for that relationship to stay in tact. There was only so much she could give before she’d have to give up.

Harry feels like an absolute fool. He’s spent every Christmas with his family, and this year wouldn’t have been an exception if his girlfriend - well, ex now - hadn’t guilted him into staying and spending it with her. She’d gone and thrown it in his face how absent he’s been because of tour, telling him she didn’t know if they would be able to survive the holidays and go into next year as a couple. Harry can admit he had been rather distant - in terms of how often he’d seen her - but he likes to think he hadn’t neglected her. When he wasn’t on stage or running around doing promo, he’d phone her, or text her. Occasionally when they weren’t too busy doing their own thing they would Skype. But regardless of that - and the fact he was letting his whole family down by cancelling the holidays with them - Harry felt he would be somewhat forgiven if he granted her the wish of staying near her. Had he known though, that she would be dumping him, he would have gone back to the comfort of his mum’s home for the holidays.

The only downside to it all, is that they’ve gotten dumped on Christmas Eve.

As if it couldn’t have been any worse, Y/N had taken her time getting dolled up after receiving a text from her then boyfriend. It had seemed like a normal invitation for a date, and it had made her feel a little giddy to finally be able to spend time with again. She’d worn her nicest dress and coat, along with a cute new pair of heels she’d just spoiled herself with. He’d picked her up at his place, but failed to open the door to his car or greeted her with a kiss. He’d barely even looked at her on their way to the restaurant, where after the first course meal - maybe she should have stayed for dessert and charged it on his card - he’d broken the news. She would be a fool to stay, and though it didn’t much faze her - she would be okay with or with it him - she refused to stay any longer. She’d stood up hastily, chair almost falling back, and put on her coat with out giving him the slightest glance. She scurried out of the restaurant as fast as her heels allowed, knowing for sure if he wanted to, he’d be able to catch up to her. And that’s exactly what he did. He tried apologizing, explaining how it all seemed to come to a sudden halt, but she wasn’t having any of it. The clicking of her heels increased the closer he was getting. At one point she felt his hand reach for her arm, only for her to jerk away and murmur something along the lines of “don’t touch me.” He’d tried to tell her it was too cold for her to walk home by herself, that he would drive her back, it was no trouble at all. But did he really expect her to willingly sit in a car after having just said what he did. Eventually, when she no longer heard footsteps chasing her down the windy streets, she stopped. It was then that she noticed she’d been silently crying, and her feet were aching.

Harry loved treating his girlfriend to nights out when he had the chance. It was nice to spend some time out after being restricted by tour buses and hotel rooms, so he’d gladly made plans to take her out to see the Christmas lights and the Christmas tree downtown. He’d driven down and parked on a somewhat secluded street before they began their walk through lit up buildings. With the wind blowing the cold air every which way, he was thankful she had reminded him to put on his beanie. Harry didn’t think much to how oddly quiet she’d been, and recalls the most she’d talked was on the phone while he was getting them a hot chocolate at a nice little café they’d spotted. He had just sat down a table when she’d walked over, eyes lingering on the table after she’d sat down before she finally spoke. He can’t say he hadn’t seen that coming, he just didn’t think it would have been this soon. And he didn’t think it would be appropriate to try and fix it, to make empty promises, if he was going to go back to leaving her. If anything, he might be able to say it’d ended mutually. Enough that she said she would have accepted him taking her back home if she hadn’t already called for a cab because she wasn’t sure how he would take it. And he wasn’t so much disappointed on the relationship ending, but rather on how guilty he felt now for why it did.

Now, two lonely souls walk about the streets. Harry’s forgotten where he’s parked his car, and Y/N doesn’t think she can continue walking any longer with out eventually having to take her heels off.

Soon enough she’s spotting a nice, warm looking little café across the street.

Soon enough, Harry’s spotting a beautiful woman making her way through the door.

With out a second thought, Y/N’s taking a seat on the first chair she spots, feet too hurt to take another step. She sighs audibly, sinking back into the comfortable furniture and kicking her legs out to relieve them of any pressure.

“Ye’ a’right there, love?”

The voice startles her, and it’s only then that she realizes the table she’s sat at is taken.

“I’m so sorry. It’s just-,” she inhales some much need warm air, the cold air outside having burned her nostrils, “-can I just have a minute? My feet are hurting like a bitch. I’ll just be a minute. Then I’ll move.”

Harry smiles at how adorably miserable she looks, her cheeks and nose having turned a dark red from the cold outside, and it’s not until she moves a strand of hair behind her ear that he notices those are red too. He gives her a second to herself, standing up and going over to the counter and ordering her a hot chocolate.

He looks at how she rubs at the back of her ankles, twisting them in a way he’s sure she’s doing to relieve pain. She seems completely oblivious to the fact Harry’s gotten up from his seat, and only looks at him when he’s setting the cup on the table with a small thud.

“‘Ere. Must be freezin’.”

He sits back down, nodding down at the cup for her to take. She smiles warmly at him as she reaches out and takes it, blowing into the liquid before pressing it up to her lips and taking a sip.

“Can sit ‘ere all ye’ want. M’not with anyone anymore.”

She looks up at him through her eyelashes, “anymore?”

Harry ponders on whether to tell a complete stranger how he was left to sit on his own this lovely Christmas Eve. When she won’t stop looking at him expectantly, he take the last sip of his drink before placing it on the table and sitting back in his chair with his arms crossed.

“Girlfriend just left,” he murmurs, catching his words before correcting himself, “well, ex girlfriend.”

This causes the woman in front of him to smile, and his eyes slit at that, brows furrowed as he’s about to ask what’s so funny about him getting dumped.

“I’ve been walking for a few block now, that’s why my feet hurt so much.”

When Harry looks at her funny, she continues, “my boyfriend, well ex boyfriend,” she corrects herself like Harry had, “dumped me over dinner.”

Harry’s eyes widen, his arms unfolding as he rests his forearms on the table, surprised someone like her would have been broken up with.

“And he left you out ‘ere in the cold to walk home?”

She giggles slightly at that. “No, no. He’s not a total prick,” she takes another sip, this time a longer one and smiles when she feels the liquid run down her throat, “he wanted to take me home actually.”

So he��d offered to drive her home? But she’d rather walk in this cold with those shoes on?

It’s as if she had read his mind, “he could have done it when he’d dropped me off after I’d had dessert,” she offers, “at least then I wouldn’t have been so mad.”

Harry nods her head and chuckles at her response. “So you’re mad b’cos you didn’t get t’have dessert?”

“No,” she tips her cup over to take in the last of her drink, sets it on the table and leans over it to whisper, “I’m mad because now I have to return the presents I went out of my way to get him.”

Harry throws his head back in amusement, his laugh echoing through the café. She pouts and scrunches her nose at him in distaste.

“He wasn’t easy to shop for. Could’ve used that money for something else.”

She huffs and moves to sit with her back to the chair, arms crossed as she blows to move a strand of hair from her face.

“Like wha’?” Harry asks after his fit of laughter comes to an end.

“Like that dessert I wanted tonight.”

Harry’s not sure if she’s just saying to get another laugh out of him, or if she’s genuinely upset about not having gotten the eat dessert.

“C’mon then,” he’s standing up and pushing his chair in.

“C’mon where?”

“Gonna get you that dessert.”

Y/N’s astounded at that. A complete random - and handsome if she must admit - stranger is offering to get her baked goodies.

“What? No, what? You don’t even know me.”

Harry looks down at her, hand extended for her to take, “your name?”

“Y/N.”

He nods once, “M’Harry. Now c’mon. Haven’t got much left. Shops gonna close soon.”

Y/N eyes him carefully, stare lingering on his large warm looking hand.

“Tell ye’ wha’,” he begins, “s’Christmas Eve. Wouldn’t be fair for us t’spend it alone right?”

Y/N nods hers head slowly.

“So lets go get ye’ dessert. We can go look at the big tree. And then I’ll take ye’ home, yeh?”

Y/N thinks Harry’s got a point, and it sounds very inviting. What could she lose if she says yes.

She slips her hand into his as she stands up, “but my feet still hurt, y’know.” Harry smiles at that, “we’ll pop over to a shop and get you something more suiting for this walk.”

He opens the door to the café, walking out first and holding the door open for her.

“Walk? I thought you had a car!”

Harry notices how she shivers as soon as she steps out into the cold night, arms wrapping around herself and shoulders shrugging to give her neck some coverage.

“I can’t remember where I’ve parked it,” he confesses, hands moving to rub her shoulders for more friction.

She doesn’t much complain after that, she lets Harry lead the way and walks by his side, leaning into him when a random gust of cold air sweeps over them. They eventually find a street shop where he buys her a pair of comfy flats, insisting he pay for them. “Christmas present from me,” he says. And he refuses to let her carry the bag containing her other shoes.

They continue their walk through the streets. At one point Harry sees some bloke eyeing her up and down, and out of instinct, he wraps an arm around her to keep her close just in case.

They talk about how much it sucks to have been broken up with on Christmas Eve of all days, and they both somehow admit to not really having seen a future with heir exes. Harry can’t say that he’s relieved to hear her say that, but part of him feels some sense of comfort knowing she isn’t completely broke about the whole situation. Y/N on the other hand, is absolutely relieved his heart is still very much in tact.

Y/N asks a bit about his music, only after spotting a billboard and excitedly pointing it out to him.

When they finally find a nice bakery, Harry buys her all the goodies she’s craving, which isn’t actually much since she doesn’t wanna take advantage of him. They don’t stay at the shop to eat though, instead, they continue walking and talking and eating and making their way to the big tree.

“Why not Christmas with your family?” She asks through a mouth full of cookie.

“Stayed cos she’d asked me t’.” It sounded silly saying it out loud. He hadn’t been dating her for that long for Christ sake, and yet he’d sacrificed the holidays with his family to avoid a fight.

Y/N nods understandingly, mouth twitching to one side, a sign that she may have something to say about it.

“Wha’?” He bows his head down in embarrassment, surely she must think he’s a complete dolt for denying his own family his presence.

“It’s really sweet. And I just don’t see why she broke up with you. You barely know me and you’ve treated me really nice. Can’t imagine how you were with her.” He smiles at the sound of that, but says nothing about the matter.

It’s not long until they spot the star on top of the tree, high and bright.

Harry notices how amazed and intrigued she is by the tall tree, looking at it through side way glances, like a child trying to figure out what it is.

“It’s huge,” her head tilts back as her eyes take in the humongous of it all.

Is it weird that Harry’s beginning to feel a knot in his stomach from just looking at her?

“C’mon,” she hollers, waving him over as she pulls out her phone.

He walks the space between them.

“Picture to remember?” She asks a bit timid.

“S’not like I could forget,” he murmurs under his breath, leaning over just enough so he’s head to head with her.

She opens the camera to take the picture, urging Harry to smile before he hears the click. And when she shows him, big toothy grin on display, he begins to remember what it feels like to genuinely like someone with out having to force anything.

“It’s almost midnight,” she tells him, “we have to find you car still.”

She bring up her hands to her mouth in balled fists, blowing warm air into them and then holding them up to her ears.

“Hav’ta take ye’ home, right.” Harry let’s the bag with her shoes hang off the crook of his elbow as he takes his beanie off and carefully slides it onto her head. “Should be somewhere close.”

She thanks him with a smile, hooking her arm to his as they continue walking.

By some miracle, they’re able to find his car down a dead silent street merely five minutes away from the tree. The second the car turns on, Harry makes sure to blast the air on hot.

“Hopefully your face will defrost soon,” he quips, a smirk playing at his lips.

Y/N self-consciously bring her hand to her face, palms press end against her cheeks to find them almost icy cold.

“Would be dead if I hadn’t met you then huh?” She laughs, her finger pulling on the soft fabric a top her head to readjust it.

Harry listens as she gives him directions to her place, ever so often pointing out places she’s been to and how many stars out of five she’d rate them.

“Well, this is me.” She makes no move to get out of his car though. Instead, she moves to face him, “thank you for everything by the way. Honestly, I would’ve been a complete mess if it weren’t for you.”

“S’nothing really. If anything, thank you for keeping me company. M’not very good with being on my own. Would rather have someone to spend time with.” He’s not just saying it for the fuck of it, he really did enjoy her company.

She ponders on whether she should say what she’s been thinking next only for a second.

“Are you tired?” She asks sheepishly.

“Not really, no.”

“You said it wouldn’t be fair to spend Christmas Eve alone right?”

Harry nods his heads in agreement.

“Wouldn’t be fair to spend Christmas Day alone either. And I’m not sleepy either. You don’t have to say yes, I just thought that it’s super late to be driving around in this weather and you’re going home to and empty house anyway and I’m heading up there to an empty place too and I though maybe we could stay up and watch movies if you want, or I have board games too-“ she’s rambling on with no hint of an end.

“‘Ave you got any wine?” He turns off the engine despite not giving her enough time to answer.

Y/N smiles knowingly, shaking her head yes. And that’s all Harry needs before he’s getting out of his car to open her side door.

Why I’ve been so quiet so long(the gist of it is ‘intense family drama and really shitty health’, it’s very long sorry)

As y’all should know by now I have just like, an entire laundry list of mental health issues; I’m autistic(itself not a problem), have BPD, a severe anxiety disorder, depression, ADHD, and maybe C-PTSD it’s hard to say with everything else. Pretty much everything I have comes with the fun symptom of executive dysfunction, which basically makes it difficult to start and complete tasks- such as reading, writing, eating, cleaning, self care, etc. Basically it makes being alive difficult.      Late 2016- long story short my mom moved out of the country and I had to find my own place and moved in with my boyfriend of at the time 5 years(now 7). He and I had been talking about moving in together for like 2 years before that, he was well informed of my MI stuff(including how hard/impossible it is for me to do dishes and things that involve leaving the house like garbage and laundry) and was very supportive; we agreed that he would be responsible for the dishes and whatnot.      Fast forward about a year and a half, the house got so dirty we had 3 back-to-back gnat infestations, a pile of pizza boxes up to my waste, and maggots and mold in the dishes in the sink because Nathan hadn’t washed them in so long. At one point management of the apartment complex was notified and just *gestures* it never got that bad but it kept cycling back to ‘pretty bad’ because Nathan’s run so hard at work that he just will not do anything around the house and I ask him to do stuff and he complains and takes like 4-7+ days until he does it- I had to throw out my favorite pot because it got entirely coated in mold, we had over 6 garbage bags in the spare room at one point because he wasn’t taking them out, etc.      Cut to about 2 months ago, we hadn’t been shopping in literally a month. We were out of food and I hadn’t eaten anything except a lil candy and like, 1 serving of McDonalds in like 2 weeks. My mental illnesses got about as bad as they ever have been and I napped for 2+ hours every day because I was so tired and miserable- I made a plan and the main reason I didn’t go through with it was because I couldn’t get the items I needed thanks to not being able to order stuff online or get to a store IRL.        Blah blah blah other stuff blah blah, about 3 weeks ago Nathan’s like ‘I’m gonna go visit Bear(his friend who he talks to for 2+ hours every day) for a month starting April’ which like, great. Shit already barely gets done while you’re here, you’re gonna take a month off of your like $10.00 an hour job while I can’t work(I’m on SSI) to fuck off and have fun with your friend and leave me, a person with a severe anxiety disorder and no ability to leave the house, alone.      A couple days after that I hear from my mom that she’s gonna be moving back to the states very soon, getting home before Nathan leaves for Florida actually. She’s gonna be in Ohio to visit me and auntie and pick up her car. Because we have a spare room and I don’t do well living on my own(I start to get anxiety attacks after about 3 days and they escalate to panic attacks after about a week), I was like ‘why don’t you stay with me while you’re here’.       Blah blah blah, a little more drama(her ex-husband’s an asshole and was being a pain about giving her car back, she doesn’t wanna be here while he’s here, he’s threatening to call the police on her, etc etc) and lots of shifting plans(Nathan figuring out when he’s gonna go and come back, mom figuring out when she’s gonna get to the states, come here, go home, etc), we’re currently on “Nathan’s leaving on the 18th of April and coming back the 22nd of May” and “Mom’s coming the 21st of April and leaving probably before Nathan gets back”.      My mental health always gets worse around my birthday(which was the 12th) and it was even worse with the entire thing with Nathan, him hardly helping out around the house, etc etc.      I ended up doing most of the cleaning and he finally helped and he hasn’t been as much of a pain about it- but he’s also been working under the excitement of ‘I’m gonna be gone for 5 weeks’ soon and he always punches up the helpfulness around birthdays and anniversaries. He’s had like 6 days off in the past 2 weeks and while yes he finally has helped out a lot with stuff that needs done(I’ve had dirty clothes in the hamper for over 8 months, the fridge and counters are finally free of dirty dishes), there’s still more to do and he’s spent most of his free time on the computer, playing PS4, talking to Bear, and complaining about how much he has to get done before he leaves.       On top of that, all this time(starting before our month-long absence of groceries and my literal starvation) I’ve been complaining to mom about how he doesn’t help out like he said he would and how he complains so much when I ask for help, how he won’t come serve himself when I make dinner, etc etc. I told her how we hadn’t been shopping in a month and I was literally starving and desperately suicidal for like 2 weeks and along with the topic of her moving back to the states she was like ‘well why don’t you move in with me’.      After about a month of thinking, cleaning, mulling, talking with a bunch of my friends with it... It’s not good for me to stay here. I realize and completely understand that his job is hella stressful, but it’s not the most stressful job anyone has ever had. The other manager screws him over and he gets stuck with shitty shifts, but he has 3 days off every week and accepted responsibilities around the house. I definitely believe part of his problem is that he never fucking eats; the difference in mood and energy I had after going from ‘barely/not eating at all’ to ‘eating not necessarily well but at least once daily’ is astounding and it’s just insanely frustrating living with someone who doesn’t do the things they said they would do, complains when I ask for help, and lets the house get so bad we get maggots, fruit flies, and mold. Our respective mental health stuff plays VERY poorly off of each other and when the house gets bad(aka all the time), my mental health nose dives. Never mind how rarely we go shopping, translating to how rarely we have food, made even rarer because the dishes are so often dirty and the counters are so often covered, making it impossible to cook.      My mom on the other hand, even when she was working like 60-65 hours a week 6 days a week(compared to his ~40 over 4 days), while less stressful than his(she owned a vape shop in a small town), still got chores done every week, helped me do them, helped me cook when I couldn’t, and went grocery shopping EVERY WEEK.        After a lot of deliberation- I don’t want to screw him over by not being around to clean any more and once my SSI isn’t helping pay rent and bills any more he’ll be left with about $190 a month after rent and bills for food or anything**- my friends have helped me realize that me leaving isn’t throwing him under the bus-- he’s already done that. Me leaving is me pulling myself out from under the bus. So. That’s been rough. I’m gonna talk to mom about it while she’s visiting but at this point it mostly comes down to whether or not I can bring my cat, since I refuse to leave her here or rehome her. **Also he’s made a few comments about ‘I know I complain about my job being shitty but who else an afford to take 5 weeks off with no pay!!’ and I’m like... NOT FUCKING US. You’re a shift supervisor at a KFC, dude. I’m on SSI.      We have so much extra money because we never go grocery shopping(that right there would take care of over $400 a month), we don’t have a car, we don’t have any insurance, we never go anywhere(shopping or otherwise. cabs in town are $6 one way and Nathan likes to tip a dollar or two, so that’s at least almost $30 a month we aren’t spending), we never clean so we aren’t spending money on laundry or cleaners(the use of the laundry machines alone would be $10-$20+ every month that we aren’t spending), so like. There’s over $450 we just aren’t spending every month because we DON’T DO THE THINGS WE DO. And he always harps on about how ‘wow we’re responsible adults!’ RESPONSIBLE ADULTS EAT, CLEAN, AND WASH THEIR CLOTHES, NATHAN. Responsible adults don’t blow over $1,500 on a 5 week vacation with no pay when they make $10 an hour. Just. Ugh      Things have been pretty alright the last few days because it’s my birthday and nathan is always way more helpful around my birthday so we’ve ogtten most of the cleaning and stuff done and I was feeling bad about thinking about leaving but just like, dude. Shit is so bad and he’s acting like it’s not. This is even longer than I was afraid it was gonna be :/ Thanks if you read it all and just. Ugh. Yeah. Finally got most of the house cleaned up and my birthday’s behind me and my mood’s improving some, so I’m gonna be trying to get active on here. Nathan’ll be gone for 5 weeks soon so I won’t have the stress of having him around for a while and I’ll be able to cook for myself without fear so that should help... but also I get so anxious alone in a house. Probably will be limited activity while mom is around too because we’ll be hanging out and we’re gonna go out to eat at a bunch of places and to at least the Aquarium. Nathan’s gonna blow insane month we don’t have on visiting his friend? I’m gonna blow money on mom and me. I have over $1,000 in cash because, again, we never fucking shop, and I won’t be able to spend any of it until at least after the 21st and I’ll get another $750 on the first, so I’ll be set for a while, but I’m gonna try to save a good portion for if shit works out and I end up moing back in with mom.
