Kitty reader: a medium coverage girlie through and through. She doesn’t pay too much attention to her base because her eyeliner and eyeshadow usually take over the show. She also def has a little pouch in her purse for touchups.

I have really been wanting to try out merit and saie beauty recently; I have absolutely loved their branding and philosophies so it’s only a matter of time before i get some of their products for myself. I am someone who doesn’t really like traveling with powder products since they are more likely to shatter; i’d rather have cream products, where even if they break, i can use them in a different container instead of having powder everywhere. All of these formulas are creams or liquids that are perfect for me to travel with. Plus, all of these products would be what I would reach for when I wanted a little pick me up, not so much full glam full cover makeup. I think the last time I did that was for my high school senior pictures. Because I was being professionally photographed.

Most of my skincare wants are just more rich moisturizers. I tend to have dry skin, unless it’s peak summer when it feels like I’m in a rice cooker, since that is super humid.

No matter how much I love beauty products, I do not wish to have the 2016 makeup collections, where there is so much that it is useless. If I ever get there in my career, I fully intend to give that surplus to someone who could use the bulk of it, like a makeup artist. I don’t know if I’ll ever get there, but I know I don’t want 80 foundations just rolling around in a drawer. That goes for skincare too; I do not want the skincare tiktoker collection that will expire in 6 months. I think, in a small thought, the best way to actually review that much product without wasting it would be to keep notes on the different products and how they worked, and how they compare to other products as a frame of reference, then use the product. I know for me that if I really need to use a skincare product before it goes bad, I’ll use it on my body. But that also would take more effort than a lot of people want to put into something, and I’m aware of that.

Blogmas Beauty favourites of 2023: Eyeshadow Palettes

Welcome to my Beauty Favourites of 2023 countdown! Each day leading up to New Years Eve I will be sharing with my beauty favourites of the year. This will be a mix of new products and products I have used throughout the year. Today we are focusing on my favourite part of my makeup routine, eyes so enjoy my top 5 eyeshadow palettes of 2023.

Let's start off with Charlotte Tilbury. Charlotte brought out a new eyeshadow palette in her holiday collection called The Beautyverse Eyeshadow Palette. This was the first time Charlotte released a 9 pan eyeshadow palette and I think we can all agree it is a glittery dream. This palette comes with 3 really wearable matte nude shades and a pink matte shade which is actually not as bright on the eye as it is in the palette which in this case is a good thing. It also comes with 5 shimmer shades that can be worn by themselves or used as glitter topper shades. It's a stunning palette and it's perfect for party season, this palette has made me really enjoy playing with bright shimmer shades that I normally wouldn't wear on the daily.

My other favourite eyeshadow product from Charlotte Tilbury is the Colour Chameleon Eyeshadow Sticks. These pigmented eyeshadow sticks are amazing when you need a quick product to throw on your eyes. I love drawing these sticks on my eyes and then either blending them in with my hands or a eyeshadow brush. Either method you choose will leave you with a eye look that people think you spent ages on. Though I have been using these sticks for a long time now I have been using them a lot more this year and they are just a dreamy formula!

Speaking of quick makeup, a new release from NYX has had me obsessed with liquid eyeshadows. I have been loving and obsessed with the NYX Ultimate Glow Shots Liquid Eyeshadow since October. They are some of the most user friendly, crazy pigmented, drugstore liquid eyeshadows I have ever had the pleasure of using. Once these shadows are in place they dry down and don't move at all until you use a makeup remover. I have used other liquid shadows before and they either fade or crack after a while but these shadows look just as good at night as they do first thing in the morning.

Every year Huda Beauty brings out a 18 pan eyeshadow palette as part of their holiday collection and this year we were blessed with the Pretty Grunge Eyeshadow Palette. This palette is gorgeous, it's full of matte, cream and shimmering shadows to create anything from a soft nude look to a perfect glittery grunge makeup vibe. Huda always creates the most pigmented shadows in her collection and they deserve all the hype they get. Compared to most of her previous you could argue this palette has the most unique colour story and honestly 16 year old emo me would have gone crazy for this palette back in the day.

Lasting we have my pressed glitter obsession, With Loved Pressed Glitters. I got these glitters when I wanted to add some extra sparkle to my era's tour inspired makeup looks. These glitters are stunning and unlike other pressed glitters they don't have crazy fall out and last all day. They are also really affordable at £8 each.

[MERWYN] Inspired makeup look. This is me after watching The Witcher: Blood Origin. The makeup department did an amazing job on all characters, but I was mostly inspired by the glamorous looks of Merwyn. After binging the series, I immediately wanted to create another crown. I had to repurpose a few old necklaces and earrings to create the spikes. This post is for all those Huda Beauty fans out there because today we have a brand eyeshadow palette to play with! If you didn't know every festive season Huda brings out a new 18 pan eyeshadow palette and (in my opinion) they are her best palettes. So today we are chatting about the brand new Huda Beauty Pretty Grunge Eyeshadow Palette, £62.00.

Now if you couldn't guess by the name this palette is inspired by 90s grunge aesthetic featuring a beautiful range of smokey, cool-toned wearable and versatile shades from matte nudes to multi-chromatic foils, a black eye gloss, and decadent sparkly blacks and silvers. When I first heard about this about palette I wasn't sure how wearable this palette would be on the day to day. However it features a gorgeous range of warm, nude tone shades that you could wear for a soft look and then build up shades for a more intense look.

I decided to test this palette to see if I could create 2 very different eye looks and as you can see above on my right side I have a dark smokey purple eye look and on the right I have a soft nude look. I have only used this palette for a few days but I'm already obsessed with everything from the colour story, the pigmentation to the packaging. The last time I was this obsessed with a Huda palette it was the Naughty Nude palette. Though you could argue the nude shades are slightly similar to the Empowered eyeshadow palette I would say the deeper smokey shades and shimmers/ glitters still make the palette worth getting in my opinion.
