Live Footage: Mildlife Performs "Future Life" @heavenlyrecs
Released last month through Heavenly Recordings, Mildlife‘s highly-anticipated third album Chorus may arguably be their most optimistic effort while serving as a sort of sonic testament to their unwavering adoration or 70s psychedelic and cosmic sounds. But if you delve a bit deeper, you’ll hear references to Polish jazz, Italo disco and a sprinkling of contemporary electronic sounds. During its…

went to hulaween and it was an absolute blast. i had so much fun with my friends. we saw so much music and did so many drugs. we laughed and laughed. i felt happy and included the whole time.
now i'm back home and it's already snowed and there's a chill in the air. cue six months of winter. here we go. i want to be somewhere else, somewhere different, somewhere i can start a new chapter. i've spent the past few years really working on myself, and it has been hard. i've worked on being kind to myself, not taking everything personally, being generous, communicating my wants and needs, and thinking about what i even want in the first place.
i've reflected on growing up in a place where a specific type of achievement was glorified. getting straight As. getting into college. graduating on time. getting a "real job". my parents wanted all of that for me and i always felt obligated to please them, as they were supporting me financially. i never got a real job and it freaked them out. they kept pushing and pushing, devaluing the serving jobs i had because they weren't "real jobs". asking me, "you're not planning on being a server forever, are you?" as if the very idea were horrifying to behold. constantly making suggestions about who i should network with, trying to get me to talk to people with "real jobs" so they could inspire me to also get a "real job", waiting for me to get all the traveling out of my system so i could come to my senses and settle down. it was so exhausting, constantly receiving the message that i wasn't "doing it right", that i was making frivolous decisions and i needed to buckle down and get career-oriented.
i've come to realize that my parents really did not understand me. and it wasn't just like, me going through a rebellious phase, it was that my values and my parents' values were different - are different - and they tried to push me into being something i was not. i've never doubted that they love me and just wanted me to be happy, but they had no idea what that looked like for me. everyone in my immediate family - my parents, my brother - they've all led pretty conventional lives. they followed the rules, they got the career, they got the house.
then there was me, who traveled everywhere, worked odd jobs, saw psychiatrists, dated questionable people, went to music festivals, lived in rundown rentals, experimented with drugs they'd never even heard of. to them it was so worrying that i wasn't following a conventional path. they have tried so so so hard to "help" steer me in the right direction, but all it really ever did was compound my anxiety about feeling unmoored. i've spent so many years feeling like i'm doing it all wrong, that i should be striving for a stable career, that a serving job is a shameful thing to do for a living unless you're in college, that i need to turn my passions into profits, that i'm so smart and talented but i'm wasting it all away by "just being a server".
all this worrying has never done me an ounce of good. so, so, so much worrying, imparted upon me by my incredibly anxious and high-strung parents for years and years. despite the gnawing guilt and shame i felt, i kept doing the things i wanted to do. but i went through various states of mental deterioration during it all, and it was always some kind of identity crisis, like who am i and how did i get here and what the fuck am i doing???
lately i have been feeling more assured of who i am. i'm funny and kind and smart. i have created a rich life for myself, full of experiences and friends. i still want to find a job that excites me. i still want to fall in love with someone who adores me and respects me. i want to move to a new city. leave the midwest. find new opportunities. it will be really scary, leaving behind my community. but i know it's time. i finally feel confident enough to do it for real.

DNB Label BEACON Drops Debut EP with Bensley, Justin Hawkes, and Kumarion
It’s no secret that drum and bass is sweeping across North America.  Whether it’s your favorite house or dubstep DJ switching up their set with a little DNB flavor or major festivals like Bonnaroo, Hulaween, and EDC, booking multiple DNB acts, the revolution is undeniable. That being said, it’s about time North America gets a homegrown label dedicated solely to not just the movement but the…

MONSTER ENERGY OUTBREAK TOUR ANNOUNCES “AMPLIFIED” EVENT SERIES
Tumblr media
2023 has been a year of firsts for the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour, fresh off their first nationwide Latin tour with rising Trap/Reggaeton sensation, Mariah Angeliq, today they've announced the debut of Monster Energy Outbreak Tour: AMPLIFIED, an extension of the popular, genre-spanning tour series.
OUTBREAK TOUR: AMPLIFIED TICKETS HERE
youtube
'AMPLIFIED' will feature 3 bonafide dance music headliners - GHASTLY , BOOGIE T.RIO x Manic Focus, and LEVEL UP as part of a singular EDM tour series which will give fans the opportunity to win amplified experiences - ranging from VIP passes to watch the show side stage and pre-show soundcheck access to personal meet & greets with individual photos, autographed merchandise, and more!
Multi-genre artist GHASTLY, known for his continuously evolving musical sound and discography that spans a multitude of genres, burst onto the scene as a solo artist when he produced the high-profile collaboration with Lil Jon and Mija, titled “Crank It,” on Skrillex’s world-famous record label, OWSLA. In 2022, GHASTLY released his highly anticipated sophomore album, Haunted Haus which showcased his unique take on both house and future bass, and debuted in the top 5 Dance albums on Apple Music with smash hits including “Smoke” with Madalen Duke and “Fangs” with ALRT.
BOOGIE T. RIO is a live band that consists of Boogie T on vocals/guitar/keys, longtime musical cohort Frank 'Animal Drums' Castro on drums, and New Orleans-based musical virtuoso Andriu ‘Yano’ Yanovski on keyboard and synth bass. Lead vocalist Boogie T has risen to prominence in the bass music world as a producer and a touring DJ, performing at festivals such as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Coachella, EDC, Electric Forest, and many more. BOOGIE T. RIO is the next phase in the evolution of Boogie T, with the band dropping their debut “Three For All” EP and first live performances in Summer 2018, followed by their “3Fall EP”, and subsequent 50+ city national tour in 2020.
The Manic Focus Band is the live instrument fusion of electronic music by John “JmaC” McCarten, a Denver-based producer with roots in funk, soul, and new-era hip-hop. A multi-dimensional artist with a rowdy style that spans across genres, Manic Focus fuses soulful blues with heavy-hitting bass, creating a tone that’s entirely his own. The Band include instrumentalist and producer Marvel Years on guitar joined with the legendary percussion of Colby Buckler (Marvel Years Trio, Emancipator Ensemble). JmaC and Manic Focus have had some incredible live performances at some of the most popular festivals and venues including Lollapalooza, Hulaween, North Coast Music Festival, Electric Forest, Bonnaroo, The Gorge Amphitheater in WA and numerous Red Rocks performances supporting Zhu, Emancipator, Pretty Lights and more.
Originally a battle DJ studying under the legendary Rob Swift, LEVEL UP later dove into music production after discovering dubstep. Since then, she has established herself as an artist at the crossroads of blending heavy and future bass, with her own flips of classic dance and emo anthems. Her live performances have captivated audiences at legendary venues such as Red Rocks, Lollapalooza, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, Bonnaroo, Lost Lands, Beyond Wonderland, Electric Forest, and Bass Canyon, to name a few.
Since launching in 2011, Monster Energy’s Outbreak Tour has been shaping music culture and breaking new artists, while being involved with many of today’s biggest names in music across Hip Hop, EDM, Country, Rock, Latin, and Comedy.

Andy Frasco & the U.N.- Live at Terminal West
Andy Frasco & the U.N. is a blues rock band that formed in Los Angeles, CA. (2007) when a young, charismatic and a very energetic musician named Andrew Frasco (lead vocals/keys) decided to blend his love of funk, jazz, blues, and rock music. Despite having some lineup changes over the years within the band, the end result is always the same. A true musical experience that I feel everyone should see at least once in their lifetime. I feel that Andy Frasco & the U.N. should be known as one of the hardest working bands based on their ability to tour what seems to be year-round. I remember my first time getting to see them perform at Hulaween (2019) which incidentally was one of the best sets of the weekend hands down. Now fast forward a few years and now I am fortunate enough to do photography at their tour stop in Atlanta at Terminal West. Pretty much closing out 2022 with a bang!
Andy was very excited to tell the crowd that 2022 has been the “biggest year in our lives” because they had just recently gotten a signed to a record deal. And they were also completing a total of 211 shows played in 2022. Such good fortune could not come to a better group of artists than Andy Frasco & the U.N. A couple of notable covers performed this evening by Andy Frasco & the U.N. include “I Fought the Law” – The Clash, “Gone Daddy Gone” – Violent Femmes, and “Break Stuff” – Limp Bizkit. Closing out the night during their encore, Andy dedicated their last song, “Dancin’ Around My Grave” to the Georgia Bulldogs in hopes that they repeat as College Football National Champions. This got the crowd even more excited and cheered along with the band as they completed their final song for the evening.
Follow this link to check out Andy Frasco’s Official Bandcamp page today!
Little Stranger is a hip-hop duo with origins from Philadelphia, PA. but now the duo calls Charleston, S.C. their new home. Little Stranger consists of John Shields and Kevin Shields who are longtime friends but are actually not related. After attending the College of Charleston, the two decided to develop a new project which would become Little Stranger. The intro on Little Stranger’s Facebook page says it best, “two brothers from other mothers with the same last name”. The chemistry between John and Kevin shined brightly during their enthusiastic setlist at Terminal West. Picture Cherub mixed with The Beastie Boys, and you can come close to what it is like at one of Little Stranger’s live shows. I will say when they covered “How Many Mics” – The Fugees, I knew this duo (also with a special guest MC on stage) was something special as they ripped seamlessly through each verse. Plus, everyone around me seemed to know their original songs and rhymed along with both John and Kevin. To me, that is something truly special when the crowd gathered for the opening act is just as excited as they would be for the headliner.
Check out Little Stranger’s Official Bandcamp page today and hear them for yourself!
Unfortunately, Paul McDonald was scheduled to open the festivities for this evening at Terminal West but was unable to make this tour stop. No matter, we will still give you some information about Paul. Paul McDonald is a singer-songwriter from Huntsville, AL. but now lives in Nashville, TN. Many may know the name from his successful run (placed 8th) on the 10th season of American Idol or as the lead vocalist for The Grand Magnolias (formerly known as Hightide Blues). Curious about Paul McDonald? Follow this link to Paul McDonald’s Official Bandcamp page today and give him a listen.

I can’t even put into words how amazing this festival was. Hulaween really was magical in ways I never could have expected. The people I met on reddit were amazing. I was worried it would be awkward, but an hour after getting there I had four people sitting in my tent - drinking & laughing & falling over with me like I had known them all along. They had an amazing set up right at the festival entrance, next to 24 hour food trucks and real showers & bathrooms. All fest people we met commented on how lucky we were to snag that spot.  And they were just so much fun. They shared everything they had - clothes, batteries, drugs, food. I was offered drugs daily by various people in my camp, all for free, all without strings attached. The camp next to ours had a cool set up, and we’d go over there at night to hang out, and they’d hand out food to everyone there. I had bacon in the morning & spaghetti at night and mokey bread at 3 a.m. the first night I arrived. This one guy was 7 years sober, and he had access to electricity to blow up my air mattress and spent the fest handing out vitamin C tablets each day and gave me a quest upon leaving: to compliment someone every day. The girl I went with was so naturally kind and outgoing that it was infectious. Everywhere we walked, she made a friend or was given a gift, and I’ve never met someone with an energy quite like that. We’re still taking today and making plans to meet up in the future. And the guy who owns the camp is 41 and fits the stereotypical hippy vibes and was so chill and go with the flow. I felt more like a friend to these people than to anyone I’ve met in years. There was so much I didn’t get to see - I’ve seen posts about butplug tug of war at Frick Frack & crazy bondage shows at House of Lost & late night renegade sets in the woods, but I still wouldn’t change it for the world. Spirit lake was fucking magical, and I could have lived there. Between Frick Frack, the two stages, the incendia stage with it’s dome of fire where you could watch fire moving on the roof in this little room, and the dome with bean bag chairs and the projections all over the ceiling, and the house of lost with it’s 2 a.m. satanic mass of mostly naked dancers who did shibari demonstrations and fire dancing and interpretive dance and all it’s hidden secret rooms. And the art installations - the giant spider who’s butt you could climb in and the Rooster See Saws that spit fire when you rode them  and the guy who had everyone painting eyes and the artists live painting and the mural maze and the mind-bending, trippy visual projections over spirit lake and every other thing I can’t even think of to post here. I was given a polaroid by a stranger, and a quest from some people who didn’t expect me to say yes, and I completed my quest when the stranger I talked to about it just happened to have a rubber duck on them that they gave me, and I found a holographic tarot card on the ground (the high priestess), and I saw a guy get his beard shaved at Frick Frack, and another guy get his eye brow shaved after he tried to leave when he lost the bet and they chased after him and brought him back. I got a tiny wooden penis from a vendor I talked to at 3 a.m. and I saw the themed string Cheese Set, and my first ever rocky horror picture show screening and danced at the rail to gigantic nightmare. The park itself was beautiful. I wish I got to see the river & the bat house at sunset. I wish I went more all out with my outfits. I wish festivals weren’t so much fucking money, but everything else was incredible. I have 244 photos/videos, eight phone numbers, and a thousand memories, and I can’t wait to do it again next year.
