Live Footage: Mildlife Performs "Future Life" @heavenlyrecs
Released last month through Heavenly Recordings, Mildlife‘s highly-anticipated third album Chorus may arguably be their most optimistic effort while serving as a sort of sonic testament to their unwavering adoration or 70s psychedelic and cosmic sounds. But if you delve a bit deeper, you’ll hear references to Polish jazz, Italo disco and a sprinkling of contemporary electronic sounds.

Buckeye Butterfly - April 2020
You would expect that a butterfly called a Buckeye might be found in Ohio, but it is a common one found in northern Florida and southern Georgia. It is named for the large round markings on its wings which resemble the eyes of a deer, thus a Buckeye. It was resting on the mesh of our screen tent when I captured this image.

Two Oak Hill Drifters Shows at Smiling Bison (2016-04 & 06)
2016-04-29 Orlando, FL. For whatever reason some shows got very little photographic or video coverage. At the same time, by May I knew I would be leaving Florida and moving to Las Vegas (NV) in a couple months, so there’s a definite increase in attending anything OHD. [sigh]. Very few images from this show, don’t know if it was the lighting that I wasn’t fond of, but it looks like I was just…
Bisbee Jr. vs. Finlay: Joshua W. Williams and the 1880 Florida Voter Suppression Controversy
Here's a story about my great grandfather, Joshua W. Williams, and other community members who stood up for democracy and against voter suppression in Suwannee County, Florida, in 1880.
William Gainer Williams (1869-1953), oldest son of Joshua W. Williams
Currently, there is a lot of discussion around voting rights and potential voter suppression. Many are anxious to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Bill in Congress. Sadly, this is an issue that has been of concern for 153 years since the passage of the Fifteenth Amendment in 1870. One case in point revolved around allegations…
Believe it or not, this is a farmhouse for sale in Ocala, FL.
The spacey 1981 "Live Oaks" farmhouse sits on 95.97 acres of land. It has 5bds, 8ba, and is priced below it's appraisal value at $8.5M.
I've never seen sculpted brick like this, before, have you? It looks like an angry horse and a screaming face. I guess it's an art piece, but why does it look so violent?
Inside, at first, it looks like a public building. There's a fireplace in the hall.
It's a very large, open space.
I'm very confused- that looks like a reception desk, with a large area in front of the fireplace. Then, this long table is next to the desk. Is it a boardroom? I don't think it's a dining room.
What the hell is it? There's another more direct entrance thru these glass doors.
Wait a minute, that's a bar! See the bottles peeking out on the bottom shelf? This is weird. So, that is like a dining room space.
I think I found the living room. It's carpeted with a fireplace in the corner.
Then in the round glass part of the house, there's a garden.
Plus, a large, half-circle-shaped pool.
Look at this- a full bar with a service window to the glass enclosure.
Another set of doors in the glass enclosure opens to the living area.
It's a big open family room/kitchen.
Beautiful huge cook's kitchen has a double stove, lots of nice quartz counter space and tons of cabinets.
Another set of doors open to a game room. So, the house surrounds the pool/garden area.
These people must love to drink, b/c there's a 3rd bar in here, a retro glass block one. Man, people could trip on that platform it's on.
They don't show any of the bedrooms, but here's one of the baths. Not that nice, but it's big and on an angle. It's hard enough to get into and there's a step.
Now, from the house, there's a path to the horse stables.
It's a very large facility.
Totally set up for horses.
Here's a covered outdoor horse space.
There's also a yard area with a fountain and tennis court.

It's been a long time talking to you. My husband and I just bought a house on an acre with huge live oaks in Hudson, FL.
So, I'm going to be homesteading and doing videos talking about the gruesome twosome and today's events.
Let's all stick together as humans, everything else is a distraction.
Everyone must grow some food, and partner up with neighbors. No farmers, no food. Take it seriously or you'll be eating za bugs. Starvation is the worst form of torture.
For this post, I will be talking about lore of Pine across cultures, with a focus on my local species here in Florida, the Slash Pine (Pinus elliottii). I highly recommend researching the species native to your area, and forming a relationship with those trees.
Ecology:
Slash Pines are known to grow very tall and quickly, and thrive in the Scrub and Flatwoods. They have an avg. lifespan of about 150 years. They reach up and chase the Sun, and call down Lightning. This Lightning starts Fires that prevent Hardwood Hammock Species from moving in and dominating the scrub effectively protecting the biome. It is an evergreen and a conifer.
Pine as a Healer and Protector:
Pines are a common symbol of pushing through the winter, and its never fading needles remind us of the Sunny days to come. In my experience, Pine can have a very Solar nature when approached in matters of cleansing and healing is a very fiery cleansing energy, swords come to mind. Pine has been burned used in crosses and strung about the home to dispel melancholy it has also been used as medicine by Indigenous People in FL for centuries. This is where I draw my associations Avich healing from. This Solar energy can also cause it to come off a bit posh, but you just have to pay appropriately.
Slash Pine is known for its hard, dense wood. Also, as its role as protector through bringing fires to fend off the encroaching Oaks and Palms, clearly has the virtues of a Fighter and Protector. Once you have established a connection with a few dices, call on them to gaud you or to burn up any hexes with the next fire the call! Burning some needles or bark is also a great way to call the spirit into your space for workings and
communication.
Pine and the Otherworld
Pine being associated with the Otherworld is a mix of UPG and Tradition. In some places, Pines are considered Saturian and Connected to the Dead. Personally, I do consider Pine an Ancestral Ally as my family are Pineros from Isla de Pinos Cuba. I find Pine helps to be an intermediary between a practitioner and Spirits Ancestors and Others. The Seminole and Miccosukee tribes have belief regarding Pine as it relates to some of their Land Spirits. The type of spirit who live in the Pine are called 'Este Lopocke' and are 'little people' similar to the Fair Folk in the mischief and connection to the Plant world. This further shows its quality as an Otherworldly plant.
Offerings T have made to Pine Spirits:
-Tobacco, Loose or burned
-Alcohol, on an altar or sprinked on the plant
-Copper Coins
-Water from a Local River
-Prayer and Song
-Blood, your water
-Devoted and dedicated time
It can't go unsaid when talking about Florida Pines that many people, mainly poor black folks, unjustly lost their lives or became disabled from working in Turpentine plants in the 19th and 20th Centuries. This tragic history is intrinsically linked to the Tree now. You can read some of the recorded folklore from these Florida Turpentine Farms in the book ‘Of Mules and Men’ by Zora Neale Hurston. Pine is a great ally to have in your spiritual court and I love working with it as a protective, cleansing force.
WEST PALM BEACH, FL — The Trump campaign announced Monday that the former president had begun preparing for his upcoming debate with Joe Biden by visiting nursing homes and arguing with dementia patients.
"George, you're wrong about lime JELL-O. Nobody likes it," Trump said as he argued with a 94-year-old dementia patient who claims to be constantly observed by Russian spies. "It doesn't taste good! Everyone's telling me all the time how much they hate it and you're telling me they should serve it every day? On DAY ONE I will ban lime JELL-O."
"And Mexico will pay for it!"
Elderly onlookers applauded as Trump slammed the dementia patient after suddenly picking a fight with him during dessert time.
"It's like he's saying what we're all thinking," said Constance Woodrow, a 78-year-old Alzheimer's patient.
In another instance, Trump screamed at a WWII veteran until he started crying.
"Greatest generation? More like lamest generation," Trump quipped, invoking laughs from orderlies. "You complain about loud music when people — good people — are trying to listen to jazz. You make me sick, to tell you the truth."
"But thank you for your service."
In this, and many such cases, a crowd of old folks erupted in cheers for Trump as he blasted one dementia patient after another.
Trump's debate prep is a distinct departure from previous campaign years when he spent time studying government policy and took part in mock debates against former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
"I spent all my time arguing against a fat man about bridges or something," Trump said, reflecting on past debate missteps. "It didn't prepare me at all. Biden is thin and he hates bridges!"
Sources close to the Biden campaign confirm the president is concerned about this new development leading up to Thursday's debate.
"Oh no, my ice cream," Biden reportedly whispered as his wife led him away.
At publishing time, sources confirm that if Trump fails to win the presidency he will be welcome at Shady Oaks Assisted Living.
Phlox - April 2020
When COVID broke out in 2020 many full-time Rvers such as ourselves had to scramble to find somewhere that was open and would accept new campers. Luckily for us, the Suwanee Music Camp near Live Oak, Florida, had to cancel all of their concerts and events and had a huge camping area where campers could spread out and be safe. This phlox was growing alongside a fence near the highway. The beauty of nature was unaffected by the pandemics of humanity.

Oak Hill Drifters at Little Fish Huge Pond (2016-04)
Sanford, FL. For whatever reason some shows got very little photographic or video coverage. At the same time, by May I knew I would be leaving Florida and moving to Las Vegas (NV) in a couple months, so there’s a definite increase in attending anything OHD. [sigh]. I got to enjoy the Oak Hill Drifters back in the little bar where I first saw them perform back in 2013. Alas, no video this time…
Since two of the guys had become dads in recent years, VoicePlay decided that the spring of 2018 was finally time to record their toe-tapping version of this Johnny Cash classic. They all brought in family members to celebrate with them, and released the video just in time for Father's Day.
Details:
title: Daddy Sang Bass
original performer: Johnny Cash
written by: Carl Perkins
arranged by: Geoff Castellucci
release date: 15 June 2018
My favorite bits:
those lovely simple harmonies behind Geoff's clear melody
that first contrast of Geoff's depths and Earl's heights
the canon of ♫ "Oh, the circle" ♫ passing down the line from Earl to Eli to J.None
J and Eli both pointing at each other on the second ♫ "little brother" ♫, since one is the youngest and the other is shortest
Layne's quickened percussion under the break section
♫ "Singin' in harmonyyy" ♫ Heck yeah, they are.
Earl hucking an entire hay bale like it's nothing, and Eli's reasonably confounded "Well, okay then" reaction
Layne gleefully plopping miniature hay bales the size of snack cakes into the other guys' hands
everyone's surprised reactions to the extra high ♫ "Mama sang tenor" ♫, including Earl
the way all the guys' faces light up when their families join them
the two babies smiling and laughing, such adorable little nuggets
Geoff's final rumbling ♫ "skyyy" ♫ Daddy sang bass, indeed.
Trivia:
This song had been a part of VoicePlay's repertoire since their 4:2:Five days. They first started performing it in 2006, and there are clips from as far back as their 2009 promo reel with Ryan and Danny.
They had originally planned to film this video the year before, but it was delayed by the fact that Geoff's son arrived three weeks earlier than the projected due date. Rather than dragging two sleep-deprived parents and their newborn into the woods, the group simply stuck it in their pockets until the next Father's Day.
Their social media posts leading up to the video's release caught the eyes of their buddies from Home Free.
That corn snake the guys encountered while they were recording the hay bale sequence was a sizeable specimen, but luckily they're not venomous.
This video was filmed at Big Oaks Ranch in Chuluoata, FL. VoicePlay returned to the same location for their "Billie Eilish in 3 Minutes" video a little over a year later.
Geoff later used other parts of the property for his "Take Me Home Country Roads" and "Man of Constant Sorrow" solo videos.
Layne and Tony also used the woods on the ranch for a Villains Lair two-part episode in 2024.
Most of the guys were joined by their spouses at the end (and kids for the two dads). Eligible bachelor J.None was joined by his mom, step-dad, and big sister.
The video reached a million views on YouTube in just over a year.
This track was later included on VoicePlay's "Citrus" album, which compiled most of the songs they recorded from 2017-19. Because the individual songs had already been made available digitally, that album is exclusively a physical item that can only be purchased at live shows or through their website.
The vanillic scent of aging paper, the tang of fresh ink, venerable bookshelves of oak and mahogany, a sweet trace of pipe tobacco, an undercurrent of faded leather. Wear this subtle potion to invoke spirits of arcane knowledge and empower your perceptions.
Water:
Bright crispy and refreshing. Smells of tropical waters and the feeling of meeting your childhood best friend on a beach
Let the scent of ocean mist transport you to the Southern coast of France, where the bright, fresh Mediterranean sea fragrances the air. Oceane is a mix of marine notes that conjures the salty, sultry allure of the beach.
Salt Air is the fragrance of a perfect seascape with notes of sea salt to give you a fresh-out-the-water feeling. Grounding driftwood and green seaweed mingle with light floral notes of water lily for a perfume that smells of endless summers and breezy, beachy days.
Earth:
Like a dark soil. A deep ancient being buried beneath the ground. Ominous greenery
Swiss made revitalizing scent interweaving a sheer citrus blend of lemon, bergamot and mandarin with white violet and airy musk.

A maximalist gathering of smokey woods, rich resins and a singular White Lily. Notes of unripe tropical fruits surround the full-bodied floral, bringing an unexpected neon brightness. Bohemian at its heart, this evocative floral is enveloped by a veil of incense, leathery saffron and unifying spice.
Delta:
Something dark and horrifying. Like a terrible atrocity has occurred but you can’t place what makes you feel like something’s watching you

Rotten river mud, a few drops of blood, a swirl of tobacco smoke, sweet pumpkin pie, candy corn, tears.
Forest loam under warm spring sunshine, new ferns poking up through decaying leaves, maple sap flowing over lichens, mosses and wet stones at the edge of a vernal pool.
Cowbell:
Warm and sterile. Light a brightly lit well lived in hospital room

Top notes: credit cards, snow, whiskey
Heart notes: dirty dollars, ink, candle wax
Base notes: green sacra resin, holy water, old confession room, priest’s clothes, plastic bag
White-collared promises that children follow, a better tomorrow. Only if you work for it
for every tomorrow.
And me, waiting in the cold, snow on my face, rye in my pocket, hoping for answers for a different age.
Society remains dying. And we have killed it. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers?

a bracing vinyl shower curtain note followed by a supernatural green-floral accord that includes wild fleabane and estragon. In the base: whispering aquatic notes that smell like cool steam haunt a blend of soft woods, opoponax, and costus root.
Mist:
Refreshing and feminine. Crisp ocean air on a cold winter night
Siren opens with a salty overtone of Pacific Ocean air and Jasmine vines filled with tiny white blossoms along the coastal landscape. The blend dives deeper into the water with notes of seaweed, driftwood, and ambergris, finished with a bonfire on the beach.
An ode to the powers of nature. Intoxicating notes of sumptuous Bergamot are lavishly laced with blooming florals of Eden Rose and Lily of the Valley, a tangle of Orris Root completes this brush with a dangerous beauty.
Moroccan mint, peppermint, mint tea. The name of the perfume menta y menta is repeated like a captivating mantra reminiscent of the movements of the dervishes turning to infinity. menta y menta is definitively a mixted fragrance. Notes: Moroccan mint, tea leaves, citrus, jasmine and roasted coffee
Its scent portrait balances cool floral notes of lotus, pikake, and tuberose with bracing springwater and moss-covered stone. Wear for bright blessings and to facilitate deep meditation.
Lake:
The inviting sound of waves crashing into the shore on an empty beach
Here's an old 1889 school converted into condos in Pittsburgh, PA. I think that this is much better than trying to make it into one big single family residence. And, it's affordable. The 1bd, 1ba unit is $235K + $211mo. HOA.
This would be the main lobby. Look at all the stairs. Kind of an interesting layout for a school.
One of those staircases must lead to this 2nd fl. unit. This is the living room, which is a large space with lots of windows.
If this was decorated, it would be lovely. Some color, pretty furniture and plants.
They have a small TV area set up in this corner next to the kitchen.
Spiral stairs go up to the loft bedroom.
I wonder if this unit was one big classroom where they built walls and a loft. Or, it could've been 2 classrooms. I went to a very old grammar school and the classrooms were very large with high ceilings.
You can see the bathroom from here. So, those stairs would have to be navigated in the middle of the night. I wonder if they would allow the owner to put a half bath up in the loft.
I love the kitchen. The oak cabinetry, black counters and that tile. The backsplash is gorgeous. I've never seen those colors- they're very vintage looking and so different.
That tile is stunning. I also like the black sinks.
The shape of the island is lovely, and you can easily fit a table in here.
The bath is just a standard 3 pc.
And, here we are in the sleep loft.
I don't care for this- there's no enclosed closet. I would want to enclose it and put a toilet and small sink in the corner.
Each unit has it's own utility closet with room for a small washer/dryer.
