Kurako: He loves wearing dresses, his mother owned a lot of pretty dresses and he gets his love of fashion from her.

Aoi Hyōdō:

He is a a professional cross dresser, cosplayer for female characters and is a net idol who loves cute and girly things. As he is bullied for liking girlish things he dresses as a girl wearing blond curly wigs and dresses in lolita style. Due to his still androgynous face people do not second guess him and assume he is a regular girl. His father doesn't tolerate him dressing as girl and he finds shelter in the café of his aunt. Growing up and becoming a man he still enjoys the cute things and learns to embrace this fashion while still maintaining masculinity. Later he becomes a fashion designer, staying in this life, keeping his interests at heart and contributing these things for other people like him and with the same interests.

I really like Maid-sama but i think it is really problematic how this manga handels gender topics. In volumes 2 where Misaki dresses up as a boy and really enjoys being a boy Usui harrases her to make her uncomfortable she she accepts/realizes she is in fact a girl. Like... no, not okay, and it is not his decision if she wants to dress like a boy or not.

Second example:  Aoi Hyoudou. While she comes into the maid latte the first time and Usui realize immediatly that she is a born male person he also starts sexual harassing her at the end of the chapter so she admits that she is in fact a boy. Like first: Usui is 17 and Aoi is 14. Second: Why? Why is it important for Usiu that the girl that is hitting at him is actually a boy? Like, Usui could have just said: No thank you, i am attracted to Misaki.” but instead he trys to rip of her shirt. No okay. All in all Aoi-chan is represented the right way and i love how the writer trys to discuss discrimantion, gender issues and bullies but i have not finished the manga yet and i am really afraid how her story will end....
