To him, everything about you is literally perfect, including any flaw you see in yourself. Akane would tell you this regularly, so long as it didn’t make you uncomfortable.

He loves complimenting you anyway, so he wouldn’t mind trying to boost your confidence in your thighs! 

He’s fond of most any love language (and gets giddy over any of them), so, with your consent, you might find him resting his hand on your thigh randomly. Doesn’t mean anything odd or suggestive by it, he just likes to use touch as a reminder of his love for you.

While he might not exactly be sure how to incorporate “quality time” or “acts of service” into helping your insecurities, he makes sure to do what he can with words and touch, as long as you’re comfortable.

Spring 2024 anime review!

It's time for my annual anime season review! I had a lot more shows to watch this season than last, which at times got a bit hectic! It's not quite done yet but it's done enough that I think I can put this up. Warning: Long post incoming where I ramble about the many anime shows I watched and personal reflection about how Going Through It™ affected my watching.

Laid Back Camp Season 3: My fav of the season, I'm obsessed with these camping girlies and any more time with them is always a treat. The combo of the suspension bridge arc with the wacky over the top arc is a fun jarring one, and the last trip was so sweet. Rin and Nadeshiko felt even gayer this season which is impressive, they're the most girlfriends to me, Chiaki and Aoi too (or maybe I should just ship full camping polycule???) It was only a few second scenes too but I love that they added Aya into the later arcs as well. I've been in a rough place mentally for a while and it kicked into a new gear this summer, so the comfort vibes of the show hit differently. I'm a super anxious person so chill times where everything is OK is such a nice escape from the world. Shout out to the OP/ED for being my favs this season! Also highly recommend both sub and dub, because the dub cast is SOOOO good once more. Celeste Perez is so fantastic as Rin, and Morgan Laure Garrett does an incredible performance as Nadeshiko. The whole cast is so great I could ramble on and on about them.

Whisper Me a Love Song: Not technically done yet as eps 11 and 12 are delayed, but in spite of the production woes this one has my heart this season in that "I love the manga and am happy to see this animated, I am hyperfixated, and warts and all I love watching it and get way way WAYYYY too sensitive about it seriously chiral go touch grass instead of having anxiety attacks about an anime" kind of way. The voice cast is SO perfect and everyone fits their characters so well and it's a treat to see the manga adapted. Himari and Yori's fluffy relationship was so sweet and I teared up a lot at their big moments. My beloved Aki got so many delicious angsty scenes while also showing her as not a bad person, just someone who's caught up in a crush while heartbroken about her true love leaving her (a true love that she didn't even realize was true love). Speaking about that true love, Shiho getting to be a feral cat storming into the proceedings is a treat, and I love that we get to see her earlier in the anime than in the manga.

The downsides ofc are the production that delayed two of the episodes, and now has the last two pushed to a later date, and my big qualm is the festival getting skipped over (well still kinda animated in the visual comic they released with the voice actors doing great on it), that's a bummer. I can see structurally what they were going for, 6 eps for Himari/Yori and 6 eps for the very popular Aki/Shiho storyline, and having the 'lost' ep voice acted helps a bit. But ughghggh even with all that...IDK it's still my babg and they're my babygorls so I'm rooting for 11 and 12 to be really great and for me to not engage with any fandom discussion about it LOL. Like I said this one had my heart this season, and when something latches onto your heart like that, I think it's good to cherish that a bit.

Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night: I heard the buzz a few episodes in about this and was hooked pretty quickly. The animation quality was great, I adored the characters, and I loved the queerness in it with the nonbinary talks, trans yakuza ladie, the kiss, and while I wish they went more in on the romance, we still got a lot of queerness that I don't want to count out. It's another case where I really need to disengage with what people think about something when it's special to me (that might be the moral of the season, honestly). My big downside for this is it got a little too stressful for me, the big fight towards the end of the show kept me up at night. I might be going through it pretty bad if watching anime does that to me BUT we stay silly.

Train to the End of the World: I didn't realize until I saw a post about it like yesterday that this had the same director as Kill la Kill and Gurren Lagann and in hindsight yeah that tracks. This was such a wild ride, I love a good journey story and this scratched that itch well. A group of girls go on a weird, hilarious, and heartfelt journey via train through a bizarre world? It made me really want to write a journey story. Funniest show of the season by far, crazy visuals, fun action, each episode being a strange little journey on its own helped the vibe.

The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio: This was a really cute one, bubbly gyaru x stoic girlie is a fun dynamic. Going by the structure, I assume this was the first 3 light novels adapted, since each arc was 4 eps IIRC. I hope the light novels get translated here because I'd love to see where the story goes next. My downside to this is this one also got STRESSFUL stressful in that like social kind of way as the main duo deals with stalkers, assholes online, shitty voice directors (I hope that voice director that was giving Yasumi a hard time gets super fired in season 2) and that took away from the fluff at times. Still was a definite highlight of the season.

Nijiyon Animation 2: Maybe even weirder than the first season, I was really glad to get more of this one, weekly 3 minute adventures of a wacky gay harem really is good for the soul. I love the vibe of like "yeah we're doing this premise this week let's just go with it" that a lot of the episodes had. Do Season 3 cmon!

Vexations of a Shut in Vampire Princess dub: I am a big stan for Vexations, and this dub has not disappointed so far (I think just one or two episodes to go for it), VERY well cast with Brittney Karbowski (of Railgun fame) putting in a STELLAR performance as Komari, showcasing all the facets of Komari's personality, like her spoiled bratty princess side, her anxious about being plopped into a dire situation side, the theater kid performance that helps her through this, and many other sides, it's really fantastic work by her. Vill, Sakuna, and Millicent are standouts as well (every Millicent scene I needed to pause afterwards because wow 🥵).

I also watched the back half of Dungeon Meshi (which is so big rn that I feel like I don't know what to add? It's great!), the new Spice and Wolf which was nice, Bartender: Glass of God which was VERY chill, and a coworker friend rec'd Condition Called Love, but I did not really enjoy that one.

All in all despite the bumpy road, I was really happy with this season and got SO much yuri. I do still need to watch Girls Band Cry and will rectify that soon, I just had way too many shows to watch at once.

Next season I am mainly looking forward to My Deer Friend Nokotan, and started watching Suicide Squad Isekai mainly for the ED lol. Next season big goal also: Chiral touches grass and her hypersensitive ass stops getting so worried about what other people think of the anime she watches and to just enjoy the anime hyperfixation while it's in full swing like this.

I love the opening sequence aha, it's so direct... it kind of hurts my heart in a way, I feel like Iro-sensei makes a lot of consistent effort to get people to understand their stories, to recap things in a simple, concise way... but I feel like a lot of people still don't quite understand... but I think they've come very far from older written stories...!

the people we love.... we love them just the way they are, don't we? What we make with the people we love... even if it doesn't make sense, even if it looks hopeless, even if it looks like fruitless wasted effort.... we cherish it!

SHIJIMA-SAN--! She looks like she might be a teacher, based on the fact she's much taller, and not in a uniform nor in some sort of gimmick outfit. Her birthdate is 1973-- the manga as-is takes place in 2015. That means this Shijima-san MIGHT be 42? She could have become an art teacher...

It's shocking, but I suppose anything could occur to upswing Shijima-san's illness. Perhaps in this world, a doctor caught something earlier on, or perhaps she was diagnosed incorrectly in the past timeline, and received more sufficient treatment in time. We don't know precisely what she suffered from, so we don't truly know if it was incurable, or just handled poorly by the system.

I figured Kou wouldn't know Nene-chan, but would still just have a normal crush on her... he finds her cute, objectively.

laughs, I ASSUMED Mitsuba would just be dead, it's just as funny if he's alive... his death was an extremely random circumstance, I'd easily believe anything even slightly to the left would evade it... perhaps he cooked a cake instead of a curry for his mother, perhaps he had remembered those potatoes just earlier when shopping, perhaps the curry didn't need potatoes after all, perhaps he didn't even notice them missing, perhaps he just caught himself when he slipped on the steps... !

What's kind of funny is that even like this, Mitsuba and Kou are still the sort of difficult and bickering sort of friends, and Kou still just like Nene-chan... you two... it's like I'll never be able to find it beautiful or sweet lol.... sigh...! you have all the time in the world now and this is how it is eh....

sigh... now, I've seen people. confused by this? This Hanako is not really there. He doesn't exist. She imagines/hallucinates him. She's daydreaming. There is no ghost Hanako. She's only remembering his existence.

Or at the very least, are INCAPABLE of KILLING it... and need to do something else to him... I don't trust them, still... we were explicitly shown the Clockkeeper's ability to subdue/freeze him, I would imagine not for no reason.

Hope we also get a little 12 year old living Tsukasa showing up to try to coax Nene-chan on how to fix the timeline... </3 just before he's snatched... ahhhh! So exciting!!!!!! Edge of my seat!!! SO many interesting balls in the air oooooo!!!!!!!!!

The show hates her but she is a very good character. Trickstars and Marincesses are both hella cool decks.

Aoi’s parents died when she was around 6 and she was mostly raised by her older brother. She’s the 2nd best Duelist in the VRAINS at the start of the series and over the course of the first season goes from being rather shy and only putting on a happy facade to a determined Duelist willing to risk her life to save the world. She even puts a stop to a virus that’s leaving people in comas.

Aoi gets two more avatars (Blue Girl and Blue Maiden) and also obtains a semi-magic AI named Aqua as her partner.

She never lets her trauma keep her down and was a huge inspiration for me in high school!

AOI ZAIZEN IS THE BEST GIRL! She's gonna sweep this whole tournament and here's why:

Is the peak YGO Girl who Deserved Better from the writers

Just a normal everyday girl IRL who secretly turns into an ultra bubbly sweetheart idol who everyone absolutely loves when in the virtual world.

Her VRAINS persona is extremely popular, and none of her fans know that she's just Some Girl.

Plays an idol deck with Trickstars (toxic meta combo not included)

Is sheltered by her overprotective older step-brother/guardian, but very quickly stands up for herself and what she believes is right.

Mutual protection with said step-brother is the sweetest thing ever, I love Aoi and Akira moments so much!

Absolutely wrecks Soulburner for like 99% of their duel, and only loses because the writers don't understand how to move a plot along if Soulburner doesn't win as many duels as possible

Duels two seasonal antagonists, and completely destroys them both before losing thanks to an OP anime card that will never see the light of day, and a one-off card made specifically to counter her strategy and have her lose.

Her first virtual avatar, Blue Angel, is inspired by the main character from her favorite childhood book. That's adorable!

Her main summoning chants are all about hopes, dreams, and believing in yourself.

In the English dub, she says "I could so swipe left on you right now" implying that Tinder exists in the Yu-Gi-Oh universe.

Never got the Magical Girl transformation sequence she deserved because the writers apparently were not aware that Yu-Gi-Oh VRAINS is a Magical Girl show, despite the two main dudes getting that special treatment.

I love the Butterfly Girls found family, and how close they are as sisters in the series just warms my heart. 🦋 Butterfly Mansion Girlies Headcanons 🦋

Kanae Kocho

🦋: Literal sweetheart. Also a massive tickle monster when she was around. Kanae loved making her sister laugh, and tickling was one of the many tools she used to do so.

🦋: A big "scoop and tickle" kinda gal- she would call over her target and wait until they were close enough before gathering them in her arms and tickling like there was no tomorrow. She did it a lot when Shinobu was getting especially overwhelmed or Kanao was still new and adjusting to her life. She was also the only one of the Hashira prior to Giyu who could effectively tickle Sanemi.

🦋: She herself is ridiculously ticklish. Her neck and sides are especially bad. Sometimes as part of a trick, Shinobu will give her sister a hug and then proceed to tickle her ribs like no tomorrow. Kanae would always sink to the floor in bright bubbly laughter when it happened, but that always gave her a chance to tickle her sister back. They'd have tickle fights almost regularly because of it.

🦋: Big teaser- lot's of: "Aren't you adorable!"s and "Look at you laughing, you sound so happy! Tickle tickle tickle!" She made her lees feel special whenever she targeted them, giving them lots of forehead kisses and nuzzles if they were comfortable with it alongside their tickles. She leaned into lighter, more skitter like tickles instead of harsher attacks.

🦋: Post tickles always featured hugs and kisses from Kanae. She had a habit of playing with her lee's hair and telling them they were especially adorable when they were all flustered. Shinobu at the time lowkey hated it because she already felt childlike, but now that Kanae's gone, she aches for those sweet gestures. In a way- Sanemi does too.

Shinobu Kocho

🦋: A literal gremlin- pretty as a picture but will have you down and tickled in literal seconds. She's learned all of Kanae's tricks and amped them up for maximum mischief causing antics.

🦋: Contrary to popular belief, Shinobu rather enjoys tickling, both on the receiving and giving ends. Sure, if she's in a particularly scary mood she might stab you if you attempt it, but on a day to day basis she's not afraid to let loose and join the fray in tickling someone.

🦋: I've said it before and I'll say it again- my girlie's got a stupid ticklish neck that if you even graze it she'll let out the witchiest of witch cackles you'll ever hear. Anywhere else though like her lower belly/hips and she's got the prettiest laugh ever.

🦋: The first person to tickle her outside Kanae was Mitsuri. They were having a girls night and after some light teasing the Love Hashira was all: "That's it!" and attacked. She may have teared up after the first time cause it made her miss Kanae alot. Now she's a fluff fledge ler ready to take on anyone who dares challenge her!

🦋: She's the queen of using her nails when tickling. Never too hard, never too soft- just perfect pressure that drives her lee's crazy as she skitters and dances her fingers along their tickle spots. Aoi Kanzaki

🦋: One of the hardest workers ever. Aoi is usually a target for relaxing tickles when she's been up most of the day taking care of patients, laundry and cooking. She sometimes forgets to quit and take a break, so the girls have to convince her to.

🦋: Her knees are terribly ticklish- even gently squeezing them will make her squeal. She also has super ticklish armpits and ribs. Whenever she's doing laundry she has to keep an eye out for the Caterpillar Girls or Inosuke- they love sneaking up on her and jabbing her when her arms are raised.

🦋: Her laugh is surprisingly soft! You'd think with such a direct personality she'd have a bold loud laugh, but it's more hushed giggles and soft happy sounds. If you go for her bad spots it will increase to a loud giggle fit but never anything shriek-leveled. Her smile is super pretty too- but if you tell her that she'll get all red and embarrassed.

🦋: Not the biggest tickler but isn't afraid to use it to her advantage. Patient being stubborn and wont take their medicine? A few tickles to the ribs or belly and their mouth is wide open. The Caterpillar Girls are extra anxious? She'll gather them up and tickle them until they're squealing and giggly. Inosuke being Inosuke? Tickles. While not much of a tease, she's more than happy to give you a few pokes here and there.

🦋: Such a kind soul after tickles. She'll bring you water and food if you're in need, help you catch your breath and sit up if you're too tired to do so. If she's in a particularly good mood she just might let you get revenge- just be ready cause she's squirmy and pretty nimble; she'll be out of your grasp in seconds and running.

Kanao Tsuyuri

🦋: Kanao has the most unexpected laugh ever. You'd think it's be super soft and quiet like her personality, but the minute you start tickling her she's literally the loudest. Shrieks and squeals- my darling girl is so ticklish!

🦋: Her legs and hips are terrible. Everywhere from the tips of her toes to the joint connecting her femur bone to her hip is feather sensitive; if you even graze her there accidentally she'll squeak. She also has ticklish palms, but those aren't so bad for her; she'll giggle a lot but it's manageable.

🦋: She's a runner, she's a track star- Kanao will BOLT at the mention of tickles. She's fairly embarrassed by how reactive she is to them and hates the idea of anyone witnessing it outside the Butterfly sisters. This usually backfires as Shinobu's incredibly fast and not at all bothered by Kanao's shrieky giggle fits (none of them are- they all find it super endearing).

🦋: When desired, Kanao can be quite the tickler! Fast fingers, killer observation skills and lots of agility- she can bring down just about anyone when push comes to shove. One time Tengen and Rengoku decided to turn their antics onto the Kamaboku squad- when they got to her she had Tengen gasping for air from how effective her tickles were. Shame Rengoku caught her though.

🦋: Super shy about the whole ticklish thing; she'll hide in her hands and try to muffle the sound as much as she can. If you keep reassuring her that it's not so bad, she'll eventually start de-clamming. Tanjiro tickles her the most outside the Butterfly sisters cause he just adores how happy she looks when smiling and laughing.

The Caterpiller Girls (Naho, Sumi, Kiyo)

Did y'all know these three aren't even related? I always assumed they were triplets-

🦋: They're all ticklish- probably the most ticklish of the entire Butterfly Estate just behind Kanao.

🦋: Naho's worst spot is her neck and ears- she also has ticklish shoulders. Her laugh is incredibly bubbly and energetic! She's the type to curl into herself and hide behind her braids when tickled.

🦋: Sumi's ticklish along her waist and belly- her ribs are fairly bad too! She's got a really soft laugh that is almost hard to hear at times cause it's so quiet. Of all the Caterpiller girls, she's the one who enjoys tickling the most, so she'll let you have your fun.

🦋: Kiyo's worst spots are her legs- like Kanao it's everywhere from hip to toes, but she's got it especially bad along her calves! The squirmiest of the bunch, you might get accidentally kicked if you tickle her.

🦋: They always have tickle fights among themselves- it's a guaranteed stress reliever and helps them sharpen their skills for when they tickle others. Collectively they are quite dangerous- ganging up on people like Tanjiro and Co. or even Rengoku. All Shinobu has to do is go "Girls, take them down, please." And they're on it! Sometimes it might backfire on her, but it's a good time all around.

Birdie Wing is one of the most absurd, hilarious, and entertaining anime that I’ve ever seen!! Mafia that solves infighting by betting on highly illegal golf matches, golf eugenics, a high school golf tournament feeling like a more high-stakes event than the ACTUAL GODDAMN MAFIA… It’s incredibly campy in the best way possible, and the creators embrace the wild premise of the show with open arms. It’s masterful in suspension of disbelief, as by the end of the series I was nodding my head, thinking that truly, everything is possible with the power of golf. The series also has heavy yuri overtones, which, while not quite pulling through in the end, are definitely a big part of the appeal, and Aoi is my favorite lesbian daughter <3

Something that really grates on me about a lot of anti-Koma people is the complete lack of empathy for Nagito in regards to his actions from the Dead Room to the Chapter 5 Trial. Treating it as if it's the single most reprehensible thing any culprit has done over the course of the entire series. When it is pretty much the exact same shit that Asahina was pulling in the first game's fourth trial. But with a far less petty motive. We see how the remaining five survivors react when they discover the truth of the NWP in Chapter 6. They are all on the verge of a breakdown as it all starts to become too much for them, and they only narrowly pull themselves back together to initiate the shutdown. Now imagine how they would react if: 1. All those survivors were isolated from each other when they learned the truth. 2. They were not made aware of the fact that their apparent turn to evil wasn't actually voluntary, and that they too are victims. 3. They did not have the three DR1 survivors and AI Chiaki to offer moral support during these revelations. 4. They were not made aware that any person who dies in the simulation will actually be possessed by Junko's AI in the real world. Because those were the circumstances of Nagito learning the "truth" in Chapter 4! His antis get so worked up over his bitchiness towards Hajime and the others, that they refuse to see just how tragic and pitiable the situation really is. What at first seems like a bizarre and vicious betrayal is actually a young man finally having his spirit broken after a life of endless traumas. Becoming so ashamed and disgusted with himself that the only thing he can think of as a small act of penance is to torture himself to death and get his classmates executed for their crimes. While not realizing that he's inadvertently aiding the same Ultimate Despair he's trying to stop. And it pisses me off when it bleeds over into fanfics too, with most of the cast ostracizing him for it. Because come the fuck on. Characters like Teruteru, Fuyuhiko, and Peko really don't much have a leg to stand on with that, considering their actions would have had essentially the same result if the class trials went their way. Me personally I like to think they'd keep a careful watch on him. But also make clear to him that while they don't condone his actions and think he made a terrible mistake, they're not going to condemn him either. Acknowledging that if they'd been in his position, they don't know what they might have been capable of. Considering how his character grew, I like to think Fuyuhiko would be one of the first people to admit that he'd probably have reacted just the way Monokuma wanted him to if he'd been given that special "prize".

YESS this! this right here omg, i love talking about this.

i think it's really easy for people to treat nagito with a total lack of empathy because of just how far removed nagito is from his own humanity. so a lot of people just put the insane label on him and don't take much of a further look at his actions. but the reality is that every action he's taking holds so much meaning and has never not had a well thought out reason. doesn't make them justifiable, but does offer so much more depth into his character than just being "crazy."

also i agree on the aoi part, i really don't get how people hate nagito for chapter 5 but don't say anything about aoi trying to get her classmates killed in the trial. dont get me wrong, thats not me ragging on her, because i adore aoi. its just the inconsistencies in how people treat characters for their actions that bother me. i think people forget just how much of a stressful situation the cast is in. suddenly waking up where you're not supposed to be, missing memories, knowing your friend or you might die at any moment, not to mention the investigations and trials; thats all pretty fucked up.

and like you said, nagito was ENTIRELY on his own when he learned the truth about everything happening. he was already in a lot of mental distress when the killings started, so the whole "truth" would have just completely broken him. he's been so violently traumatized his entire life, literally everything has been taken for him and supposedly he's going to die from his illness soon since there's nothing left for his luck to take. the only thing he's been able to do is cope through his obsession with hope, (and if we remove the obsession with hope and just focus on the fact that they're inside a simulation and caused the world to end, that's already stressful enough. the main cast BARELY coped even with all the help) so when you take that into account AND that he was actively working against the one thing that could never leave him (hope)- that's pretty fucking destroying! the only way for him to not lose the last thing he had, was to commit suicide in the way he did. which he full heartedly believed was for the greater good.

the sheer mental distress you would have to be under to be totally okay with torturing yourself before committing suicide is, KIND OF A LOT lol. also, props to him for coming up with such an elaborate plan despite the stress he was under. i honestly feel like his death was heavily foreshadowed. the entire game he talks about wanting to be a stepping stone for hope and that he's okay with being killed for it. his entire life has all just been one big tragedy too. the way he died, his motives behind it, and goal to become the ultimate hope; it was honestly a great ending for him. but im not gonna go into depth on that because im already probably getting off topic here whoops

but lets talk about his bitch arc for a second (chapter 4.) people blow it SO out of proportion. nagito was an asshole for one afternoon and was bullying hajime because he's angry he's in love with some loser. its just funny to me how some people make it a huge deal and use it to say nagito hates hajime. in chapter 5 before he dies, he literally shows remorse for his actions and barely anyone talks about it!. i can talk about that a bit more on a different post if someone is curious but im trying not to let this get ungodly long lmao

also yes, the way characters in fanon will be overly critical with nagito. while i do believe they were a littleee bit harsh with him in the game (another thing i could rant about but i'll spare you) i really don't think they would hate him after the simulation. on the final trial with junko, they almost let her win. and when they learn about being remnants and they all wake up, i think they would have come to understand nagito at least a LITTLE bit better. literally none of them are inoccent, so they probably came to realize they weren't all that much better than nagito. while we don't really see nagito interact with the other characters much in the danganronpa 3 hope arc; he looks to be on good terms with the rest of the cast. and just judging by how they all agreed to just live for the future and put the past behind them, i do think they would try their best to give nagito a chance, even if they're a bit weirded out by him. also i totally agree with the fuyuhiko bit! i think he's a very reasonable person that understand morally grey areas, so i like to think he was one of the first to start giving nagito a chance.

Glistening Summer Days | Artist: tsukimoto aoi

Story 1 A sunny day sometime in August in the Garden of the Sun. Summer is hot―everybody knows that. But summer is also beautiful―not so many know that. The bright blue sky soared above. Sunflowers stretched up to the sun with glee. Splashes of water leaped up and twinkled in the light. Butterflies danced with grace, flapping this way and that. Soft gusts of wind blew and sent music through the trees. Summer days like these melt all of one's troubles away. As such, a certain youkai could be found, doing something she wouldn't normally do.

Story 2 Wriggle Nightbug is a firefly youkai who suffers in the cold. However, since fireflies are summer insects, she has no trouble in its ferocious heat. She's often seen hovering in the night sky, but today, she's playing under the sun. After defeating the swallowtail butterfly fairy, Cirno declared summer to be her own. Capable of manipulating ice, she does tend to struggle in the heat, but today, she's off to play with a straw hat on her head and a popsicle in her hand. Despite the fierce summer sun, she's full of energy.

Story 3 This summer, Gensokyo was struck by a terrible heat wave and was hotter than ever. There was once an incident that disrupted the four seasons and smothered some parts of Gensokyo… but this time around, it was unclear if someone was up to no good or if this was all part of nature's plan. However, considering how the shrine maiden and the magician played in the sun and cooled off indoors while waiting for autumn's arrival, it seems there was no great incident to be resolved. Apparently, there's another world where Gensokyo is in the midst of a never-ending summer. Perhaps the Wriggle and Cirno of that Gensokyo see glorious summer days like today as nothing out of the ordinary. Or maybe not…

Story 4 Beneath the crystal blue sky, cool water sprinkled down on sunflowers in bloom. Perhaps spurred on by the beauty of the summer day, Wriggle was busy watering all the flowers, a joyful grin on her face. Nearby swallowtail butterflies swooped under the droplets and cooled themselves off with a pattering of their wings. But suddenly, Wriggle felt droplets of water slashing on her head."Is it raining? But it was such a nice day!" she exclaimed. Starting to feel like one of the flowers she was watering, she looked up to see Cirno flying above her through the bright blue sky.

Story 5 Munching away on her popsicle, Cirno called down to Wriggle, "Hey, whatcha doing?" The frosty air around her turned to water droplets in the heat, which were raining down and dampening the ground below her. "All the flowers are in bloom, so I thought I'd water them," replied Wriggle with a giggle. She adored the beauty of nighttime but was amazed at just how pretty the daytime could be too. "I see… Well, be sure not to get a sunburn!" chuckled Cirno. The two may not be the closest friends, but their conversation bloomed like the sunflowers around them. Even the butterflies seemed to enjoy listening in as they flapped their delicate wings a little livelier than before.

🏀 honestly mahos took me some time to think about smth, but yeah! while maho is canonically a great cooker, she's also canonically a basketball player and very good at it, with her untrained initial 3* showing her playing and the recent origin sp too!

🎀 Muni... I think the fandom is pretty settled on emojis for muni actually, which are the bow and the 🐰, but tbh... i just think the bow fits her better? Not only do her outfits constantly have many ribbons (back of the uniform, on her pigtails, collar...) But also, while bunnies are indeed the focus of her tiara, we see her using other animals such as cats (untrained initial 3*) or bears (untrained d4fes1 3*)! Because of nyochio, i also think 🐈 could work, but nothing that beats the ribbon

🎹 for rei! It is her instrument after all, and D4 doesn't has many instrument players, sooo... My other option for rei would be cup noodles since she is lowkey obsessed with them and theyre implied to be her favorite food, but we don't have a emoji for that, so the closest thing would be the 🍜 emoji!

🎧 for shinobu! While yeah it's a dj franchise and this one seems too on the face... shinobu is one of the characters with the strongest connections to dj-ing besides aoi and has been doing this since her childhood, not to mention how she usually has headphones on her neck! My other assignments would be a bubblegum emoji but we don't have that, or a 🎮 , but we majorly see shinobu playing either on her computer or in arcades, so i decided to just go with the headphones!

💚 for esora, which may be indeed a cheesy one but cmon! heart for the lovely character of the franchise and green since it is her color! other ones would be 🐸 to represent esoran in the anime and 🐖 to represent her pet pig, tiara!

📸 while i know many people associate yuka to training directly, for me my first connection is always to pictures. She has over 5 cards where she's holding cameras and it is her hobby! While yes, she is on the training trio of d4dj, i think the camera says more about her character than any other emoji

🌐 for unit emoji! It fits their aesthetic very VERY well and also symbolizes the world, so!

☄️ for saki! sakis hobby is stargazing and she loves the galaxy, so it just seemed fitting to give her something related to that, and i settled on the comet! 🐈 Is also viable considering she adores cats and has one named schrodinger, but i just feel the comet suits her better

⛩️ for ibuki... im not even going to lie that initially hers gave me a bit of a headache to decide, but! Ibukis family owns a temple and she has 2 cards where she's dressed as a shrine maiden, so it seemed to work for me! As part of the training trio though, something sports/fit related could fit her v well

🧸 for noa!!! While i know initially many may directly think of a 🎀 for her, she has many cards where plushies appear and are related to her, so i settled on the teddy bear emoji, as it is also cute and something she constantly appears with!

🪩 towa! I wanted to give her an idol lightstick initially to symbolize her love for idols, but alas we don't have that, so i thought a disco ball could still work p well and fit the aesthetic!! My other choices would be a crepe emoji, but we don't have that, or the 🎤 to also symbolize her love for idols!

🍹 for rika! i wasn't quite sure on one for her, but i think the cocktail suits her pretty well? she has been shown drinking in various cards and is the party girl, so! this one also specifically suits her REALLY well with the tropical vibes and colors so!!!

🧋marika! While still not appearing in any card, it is stated to be her favorite drink and also said that she went across various shops in japan to taste them, so it seems fitting! A nail polish emoji would also suit her very well considering how she cares about her beauty a lot and is shown doing others nails in a card, but we don't have that with the closest being the 💅 emoji

Short Reflection: Yama no Susume Next Summit

There’s an argument to be made that Yama no Susume is the most underrated anime of all time. Maybe not outright number one, but it’s certainly up there. The fact that it started as a series of three-minute shorts and never climbed above twelve minutes per episode, coupled with the lack of legal streaming options, means so few people have gotten a chance to check out- or even know about- one of the best goddamn cute girls shows on the market. Not only does it do a great job you on mountain climbing as a hobby, in all its intricacies and charms, it uses that extensive hobby knowledge to weave a genuinely wonderful story about personal growth and struggle through the specifics of undergoing such a strenuous, difficult activity. Watching Aoi Yukimura grow out of her shell as she dives deeper and deeper into mountain climbing is, no bullshit, some of the most believable, natural, and human coming-of-age drama I’ve seen in this medium, never mind her absolutely adorable back-and-forth with longtime friend (and future wife) Hinata Kuraue. Like K-On before it and Yuru Camp after it, Yama no Susume is a standard bearer for just how good CGDCT shows can be at communicating the whimsy and magic of ordinary life.

And now, after so many years, we finally have a season 4! And not just any season 4; this time, we’re getting full-length 24-minute episodes! And a simulcast on a readily available streaming service! With the same director and so many of the same staff members returning! At long last, Yama no Susume has been plucked from obscurity! Finally, the whole world will get a chance to experience one of anime’s most underappreciated masterpieces!

So why am I left feeling so unsatisfied?

Look, this review really hurts to write. I’m a Yama no Susume stan through and through, I will take every opportunity I can to sing this show’s praises. I wanted nothing more than to come out of season 4 gushing about how wonderful it was to see this show continue its winning streak. But I have to be honest with me feelings, and my feelings are that Yama no Susume: Next Summit  was a letdown. Not a bad show by any means, but an inferior sequel that fails to capture so much of the spark that made those first 3 seasons so special. Just to make sure I wasn’t nostalgia-blinded, I went back and watched a random episode from season 2 to revisit the old show with fresh eyes, and let me tell you, the difference was night and day. There was something magical about this show, something that has not fully carried through into its most recent installment. And while there’s still a pretty good cute girls anime left once you trip that special something away, it’s not until the final episode that it reaches the same heights that past seasons reached on a regular basis.

So what changed? What was that special something that no longer exists, or at least doesn’t exist nearly as much? The obvious Big Problem to point at is the fact that this season wastes its first four episodes recapping the past three seasons, so we only really have eight episodes of new material. And yes, that’s definitely a huge, completely unnecessary issue that threatens to derail everything before it even gets going. Especially since studio 8it wastes so much time and resources re-animating all your favorite moments from YamaSusu’s past that the production is very noticeably stretched thin throughout the remainder of the actual new stuff. It reminds me a lot of RWBY Ice Queendom, where it wastes its best animation just recapping past glories to get newcomers up to speed and then struggles to keep up the momentum for the story it supposedly exists to tell in the first place. And much like in Ice Queendom, the recapped events are so condensed, with so much of their critical connective tissue removed, that it fails to do justice to just how damn excellent the storytelling in the first three seasons were. I can’t imagine anyone watching these first four episodes and crying over Aoi’s failure to climb Mt. Fuji, or Aoi and Hinata’s reconciliation on a mountaintop after a falling-out, or any of the truly wonderful moments that made me fall in love with this show when I first watched it.

So you’re left with a reader’s digest of past events that were done better elsewhere and a new story that lacks the production quality to do justice to its own big moments in the same way. And unfortunately, it doesn’t help that I’m not the biggest fan of the new aesthetic this season is going for. Look, superimposing anime girls onto stylized photo-realistic backdrops works for some cute girls shows- Yuru Camp, Bocchi the Rock just this season- but YamaSusu’s visual strength has always been tied to its gorgeous background art and how well it portrays the lush wonder of the wilderness without being so detailed that the more simplistic character designs get lost in it. There’s a clear sense of identity to how this show used to look, and that identity is just lost when you replace that meticulously crafted background art with random wilderness photos. Maybe if the production hadn’t been so stretched thin, they could’ve made this aesthetic work better, but as is, it never comes together in a way that makes up for losing the old look.

But hey, just having eight full-length episodes doesn’t have to be a dealbreaker. YamaSusu’s first season was literally less than two full episodes long, and season three was the equivalent of six 24-minute episodes. This show’s done plenty of incredible things with less time on its hands. So there’s no reason Next Summit, for all its production woes, couldn’t have still knocked it out of the park. But there’s another problem, a problem far less forgivable than spending one-third of your runtime on recaps that can be easily skipped if you can’t be bothered. And that problem is simple:

Unlike seasons past, Next Summit isn’t a story.

See, Yama no Susume, for all its cute shenanigans, is an actual ongoing narrative at the end of the day, moreso than most shows of its genre. Sure, it meanders here and there, but at heart, it always remains focused on Aoi’s personal journey through the medium of mountain climbing, and how her relationship with herself, her friends, and the world around her changes as a result of her experiences. It infuses every inch of this show, from its episodic divergences to its lengthy, impactful arcs. Even back when the episodes were only twelve minutes long, you’d rarely go for more than a couple episodes back to back without some kind of meaningful moment for Aoi. It’s a slow-paced story to be sure, and it isn’t afraid to go on a few tangents, but it never forgets to return the focus to Aoi and the path she walks before long.

But in Next Summit? It feels like it’s made up of nothing but tangents. Even with the full-length episodes, every episode is still split into two parts, so you’re basically getting two normal-length YamaSusu episodes back to back that never amount to anything beyond their own boundaries. The girls go fishing with Aoi’s dad in one half episode, they meet Hinata’s mom in another, Kokona and Honoka have some heavy yuribaiting that ultimately goes nowhere in another, and Aoi has some bizarre fakeout yuribaiting with her co-worker from the sweets shop in yet another, completely unrelated twelve-minute chunk, and none of it ultimately connects to anything else. It’s all just a bunch of moments, strung together in an arbitrary order because there’s nothing for these moments to build to, no ongoing emotional journey the narrative seeks to take us on. Sure, plenty of these larks are entertaining in and of themselves, but they’re momentary delights in a show that used to excel at long-term investment. What happened to the Yama no Susume that spent like four long-term episode’s worth building up to, paying off, and cooling down from that first harrowing climb up Mt. Fuji? What happened to the show that let characters’ emotional states develop and linger over multiple episodes, even when those episodes didn’t necessarily connect with each other plotwise? It’s not until the very final stretch that this season decides to have an ongoing story again, and it feels like everything before then was just killing time until the show decided to actually be about things again.

Actually, hot take time: I think Next Summit should’ve been a movie, not a TV production. The more I think about it, the more I feel like so many of the issues holding this season back would’ve been fixed by jumping on the bandwagon and making it a movie like every show and its mother has been doing recently. For one thing, it would give the animators a more flexible schedule to really give it the production polish it deserves, rather than try to air it alongside an animation-heavy sports shonen like Blue Lock. For another, it would force them to cut out so much of the faffing about and keep the story focused on what it should’ve always been focused on: Aoi’s personal journey. Cut out the recap episodes, extend the emotional focus of those last couple episodes over 90 minutes, maybe pepper in some of the better one-off half-episodes and tie them in more closely with the main story, and you’d have a tight, focused package full to bursting of everything that made this show so amazing. Wouldn’t that be so much better? Wouldn’t that keep the spirit of Yama no Susume alive like it had never left? Shows like Yuru Camp and Takagi-san have shown how to make movie sequels to slice-of-life stories really fucking work; surely, a team as talented as the YamaSusu folks could’ve done the same if they thought of it. Maybe if they had, I could come out singing its praises as much as I so desperately want to.

Because my god, the actual finale of Next Summit is so good. It’s a payoff to arguably the biggest unresolved plotline in this show, a climax to its most emotionally resonant arc that brought the fireworks in a way nothing else in Next Summit even came close to. For one brief, shining moment, I saw the Yama no Susume I remembered again, the Yama no Susume that showcased the best of what CGDCT shows are capable of. And it made me cry not just from how good that ending itself was, but how sad it made me that it took until the very end to recapture the spirit that once flowed freely through this show like a boundless river. If the only reason this season was made is to deliver that climax, then it’s more than earned its right to exist. But I just know it could’ve been- and should’ve been- so much more.

And if this season was your introduction to Yama no Susume? Then all I can do is beg you to please, please, please track down and watch the first three seasons. Everything Next Summit does well, the rest of this show does ten times better. Every bit of emotion Next Summit makes you feel, the rest of this show will make it seem like child’s play. Season 4 is only the barest taste of the magic that makes Yama no Susume so special, and if you’ve felt any bit of that magic watching it, then you owe it to yourself to experience it in its true form, free and bursting and absolutely astounding on a regular basis. I promise you, this show will sweep you away like few other slice-of-life anime can. Season 4 was a good time, but it just doesn’t do justice to one of the finest works of cute girls fiction you’re liable to ever find. But hey, if it can at least convince more people to check out the rest of Yama no Susume, then maybe it’ll all be worth it in the end. Until then, though, I give Next Summit a score of:

if you haven't I highly recommend Fate/Extra CCC, It's probably my favorite Nasu thing if you can deal with the janky gameplay (be sure to play Fate/Extra first though)

Since I know you liked chaos head, I think Child expands on the plot of the original in really cool ways and really loved what it did with its themes

While the Aqua After isn't translated (probably one of the best things Goo has written) Himawari is a great coming of age story, one of the best doujin vns (that got remade into a commercial product). It has some off color sekuhara humor and it takes a route until things really get going but otherwise its great. I also recommend ISLAND if you enjoy it as its by the same writer and in the same world (some people like it more than Himawari bc its more plot focused)

i don't care for debate if it is or isn't a vn, to me it is very eroge in its execution and themes. If you like sci/fi anime stories 13Sen is fantastic. One of the most gripping sci/fi games I've played, I'd rank it up with Baldr Sky.

I believe you played Utawarerumono? The sequel series Uta2/3 are great games which even improve upon the original with an even better cast and story.

Amatsutsumi is a pretty uneven title imo because the main writer only wrote the 1st and last chapter of the game (i recommend skipping all the side routes with non-true end heroines). But, the chapters that Mikage did are so strong that I adore it. Hotaru is an utterly fascinating character. This is also paired with the game Aoi Tori, while different plots (aside from being set in the same world), they thematically compliment each other.

While they aren't finished yet, there is a translation close to being finished for Kusarihime by Liarsoft (which is a heavily inspirational game along with being a straight good denki horror game) and the Tsui no Sora remake which if you like Subahibi you should play this, its janky because its mostly the same thing as the original 1999 game but the new chapter in the remake is one of the best things scaji has written.

“ I’m not doing this Hawks I broke my back just to catch that criminal,” Emily says squeezing her eyes shut as she takes a breath

“I know Emily I was there too,” Hawks says just as tired

“ I worked my ass off just for him to give in. Do you deal with this kind of drama too?” Angela asked

“Yes and I’ve been doing this for way longer time than you so I know the pain,” Hawks admits

“ Why did you become a hero? Your young and deserve to live an amazing life. I’m doing this for the money,” Angela asked not expected his answer

“I just wanted to protect the world and meet my idol. The game and money was the Cherry on top,” Hawks adds a smile

“Now you making my reason for being a hero seem so selfish,” Angela says and stops leaning on Hawks

Angela stands up and stretch

“Well you really needed the money so I don’t think of it as something selfish,” Hawks says and gets up

The man nods and walks the opposite direction

Angela flies on a building above and watched as the guy turned his arm into a drill

“Job well done,” Angela says and sees with her blade how the rando stabs the person with his quirk causing chaos around him

Angela flies away from that situation and lands on the rooftop of her apartment

“I need a little break,” Angela says to herself and leans against railing on the roof

In the future Emily with call this woman Mio even though her real name will be revealed in the future

Mio is a combination between a living quirk (Think of it as a literal shadow) and a human who has a quirk. Mio is literally part quirk and part human.

Mio was born as a quirk with a human body. Her human body was just a shell protecting her and making sure she lives, since needs the basic structures in a human body to live

The only thing is that even though Mio has a human shell Emily stealing Mio means the her human body/she’ll is out there somewhere without it’s host

“Are you you sure your human? And not from another planet like Klyntar,” Angels jokes with a serious face

“Venom joke I get you, but no I was born on earth. But the quirk is a lot like venom with the kind of abilities it has,” The voice says

“Okay what are your abilities?” Emily asked

“Okay… my quirk is called shadow defense meaning my entire body is protected from anyone using their quirks on me. My dad’s quirk is being really strong, and being able to really jump high but the speed comes from how fast I am in general. Sadly the only way I can even have my dads quirk or even be come strong enough to use it is to eat a lot of meat,” The voice explains

“Mhm I’m understanding. Can it be any type of meat?” Angela asked

“Yes as long as it’s meat it’s edible and delicious to me. Doesn’t really need to be cooked just need meat… even human meat,” The voice responds

“Okay before I go on with my day I need to give you a name,” Angela shakes her head slightly hard and keeps on hitting herself cause she thinks she’s gone insane

“Any name would be great as long as it’s a Japanese female name and not some Chelsea and Barbie kay,” The voice said

“Your name is Mio cause just cause your in my possession but still I’m going home and calling out sick,” Angela says and flies off

“You know you can’t shut me up. I still want to know why the hell you stole me?” Mio asked

“You really do talk a lot you know that,” Angela says while flying away from the rooftop

“ I want my body back and I’m not gonna shut up unless you bring me back,” Mio demands and starts whining

“I don’t know how any of your boyfriends or girlfriends would want to handle you,” Angela flies off and lands at her agency

“ I bet you there’s probably a lot of people who would want my body and my personality,” Mio blurts out

“Yeah cause your probably some skinny model who sells her body for a living,” Angela tells her off making Mio scoff

“So you just call all women sluts?” Mio asked

“Only the woman who annoys me gets that title, even my ex doesn’t deserve that title and she was both a nut and very annoying,” Angela admits and walks inside her agency

“Wow how very rude of you to talk about your ex like that I still treat my exes with respect,” Mio says with an attitude

“Still surprised someone actually dated you,” Angela walks into an elevator yet Mio still continues to talk

“God when she talks its never-ending,” Angela thinks

Years Later

Courtney is hitting Emily with a pillow while Emily is trying to get away from her

Emily hid behind a couch while Courtney prepared the pillow

“You could’ve started this entire session by saying you are the daughter of a freaking villain!” Courtney breathing heavily as she is tired after attacking Emily

“Yeah well I didn’t know I still had his quirk till then. Now I’m trying to be real careful cause I can accidentally steal a quirk at any moment,” Emily explained and Courtney threw a pillow at her head

“What does that even mean?” Courtney asked calling back on the couch taking a breath

“My mom is a scientist who learned how to take away and give people quirks. As soon as she found out I had the quirk it took her years to even create the formula that could take it away,” Emily explained while going back to the couch

“I thought she took away 100 percent of it not no 90 percent,” Emily continued

“Do you still have Mio inside you?” Courtney asked

“Hello Court!” Mio said in her shadow form

“Okay Mio, let me understand this. Are you just a quirk with a human body or just a quirk?” Courtney asked

“I’m a quirk with a human body. See when I was born I was born as a shadow basically the form I’m in now and I needed body just to do basic stuff. My human form is also like a shell I use just to blend in. Without my shell I can’t live life since I’m nothing but a mere quirk. So since she stole me I can’t function unless I have a body/shell to work with,” Mio explains while crossing her legs

“Your kinda like a turtle. You having a body is like a turtle having a shell since they can’t live without it mainly because they are fused to it. Besides the fact that your obviously not fused to a body you still need one to live life in general and without it your dead,” Courtney explains and Mio just nods

“Whatever the doctor says,” Mio responded

best underrated anime in your opinion??

Another wonderful Anon with another difficult yet welcomed question (´｡• ω •｡`)

I will try to follow the same layout as I did with the manga recommendations ask. These are the anime series that instantly come to mind that, in my humble opinion, are underrated :

Underrated Anime #1 :

91 Days

Why aren't more people talking about this series?! I've watched 91 Days at least a half dozen times, and it never gets old. This anime is set back during the Prohibition Era and follows a young man determined to avenge his family who were murdered by top members of a mob/organized crime family. In order to get close to them, he inserts himself into their world and works his way to the top. I genuinely love this anime so much. It's really sad, but is beautifully written and executed. I highly recommend watching the English Dub, mostly because I think the English voice actors do a perfect job with the accents and turn-of-phrase used during that time period. If you enjoy Crime Dramas, then please give 91 Days a chance. It's a 12 episode anime, so it's definitely manageable. Just be prepared for the ending. Despite watching it several times already... I'm still conflicted lol

Underrated Anime #2 :

Gangsta

I was so disappointed to find out this anime was discontinued, especially since it ended on a cliffhanger. From my understanding, the main cause was due to the production studio going bankrupt. Despite this, I really enjoyed Gangsta enough to hold onto a tiny shred of hope for a second season (I just won't hold my breath lol). Gangsta takes place in a town called Ergastulum and follows two "handymen" who conduct an array of different jobs. This anime is geared towards a mature audience, since it has prostitution, drugs, and other adult-themed elements in it. One unique detail is that one of the handymen, Nicolas, is deaf. If you enjoy darker themes and thrillers, then I'd suggest checking out Gangsta. It's 12 episodes long... Just keep in mind this anime does not have a second season, and may not ever be continued.

Underrated Anime #3 :

Kakuriyo Bed & Breakfast for Spirits

Little known fact about me : I adore supernatural themed anime. Series like Kamisama Kiss, Gugure! Kokkuri-san, Fruits Basket, and others all fit my taste perfectly. Kakuriyo Bed & Breakfast for Spirits is no different. This anime is about a human girl named Aoi who has the ability to see spirits. One day, an ogre appears and takes her back to an inn called Tenjin-ya that is run and patronized by ayakashi. Upon arriving, he reveals that Aoi's grandfather had made a deal with him. In exchange for forgiving the old man's debt, Aoi is to marry the ogre. Refusing the proposal of marriage, Aoi insists on working at the Bed & Breakfast in order to pay off the debt and ultimately earn back her freedom. This is such a wonderful anime. All of the characters are so cute and charming. And I'm a big fan of Aoi! She's not one of those useless or annoying anime protagonists. Quite the opposite, actually. I am currently watching Kakuriyo Bed & Breakfast for Spirits, and I'm loving every moment of it. It's 26 episodes long (I'm at episode 18), so a bit longer than the other series I've mentioned. But if you enjoy Supernatural Romance anime with some Comedy sprinkled in, then I highly recommend Kakuriyo Bed & Breakfast for Spirits (:

Underrated Anime #4 :

Aoharu X Machinegun

This is one of the many anime series that I wish would be blessed with a second season. Aoharu X Machinegun is about a high school student named Hotaru who mistakenly accuses her new neighbor, who happens to work as a host, of scamming her best friend. To defend the honor of her friend, Hotaru agrees to play a game of airsoft with the host, Matsuoka. In the process, Hotaru causes an extensive amount of damage before ultimately losing to Matsuoka. He then forces Hotaru to join his airsoft team, stating that it was the best way for Hotaru to pay off her debt. Plot twist : Matsuoka and his teammate, Yukimura, have no idea that Hotaru is actually a girl, a secret she needs to keep after learning that girls are not allowed on their team. This is a really enjoyable 12 episode anime series with a good amount of action, comedy, and some more intense/emotional scenes. So if you're interested in Airsoft or like Comedy and Action anime, then you might wanna check out Aoharu X Machinegun.

Underrated Anime #5 :

Servamp

You can't go wrong with a vampire anime, right? How about vampires that take the form of animals? Servamp fits both criteria. This series is about a boy named Mahiru who takes in what he thinks is a stray cat, only to inadvertently make a contract with a vampire, named Kuro (aka Sleepy Ash of Sloth). Shortly afterwards, Mahiru gets thrust into this once unknown world of vampires when Kuro's brother appears and vows to wage an all-out war against Kuro and their other siblings. I'd say this is arguably one of the better vampire themed anime currently out, at a total of 12 episodes. So if you enjoy Supernatural elements, Vampires, and little touches of Comedy and Action sprinkled in, then I recommend Servamp.

Honorable Mention :

Hakuoki (sometimes spelled Hakuouki)

I am happy to say that unlike some of the other series I listed here, this anime in particular was completed with a total of 3 Seasons, a set of OVAs, and 2 films... Not to mention all of the games for this franchise. This series takes place during the Edo period and follows a young lady named Chizuru. She travels to Kyoto to search for her father, only to be taken into custody by members of the Shinsengumi after witnessing them cutting down individuals who appear to be possessed. Upon realizing who Chizuru's father is, a man responsible for creating an elixir that turns those who drink it into invincible blood lusting beings called Furies, the Shinsengumi members decide to keep Chizuru close, expecting the girl to aid them in their search for her father. Hakuoki is a beautiful anime with even more beautiful artwork. If you enjoy Historical anime with Fantasy elements, then Hakuoki may appeal to you. Note : Hakuoki is also an otome game, so the anime can give off "reverse harem" vibes at times. But if you can overlook that if you're not into otome, then it can still be very enjoyable to watch (:
