I'll preface this by saying that: a) I haven't seen episode 5 yet . b) I have loved Strange New Worlds so far. It's not perfect but no Star Trek show is. c) I do not, and shall not, participate in any shipping wars, so please don't start any in the notes.

So. I just saw a gif of episode 2:05 of Strange New Worlds and they're making Chapel and Spock kiss? Ugh.Can we please not?

I was really hoping they'd avoid this. To be clear I'm not one of those hardcore K/S shippers that gets mad everytime Spock or Kirk look in the general direction of a woman (bisexuality exists? And so does TOS canon ? And unpopular opinion but Kirk & Spock having some other type of bond than just romance is good too?*ducks behind a table just in case*) It's just that I hate pointless romantic storylines and kind of feel like Chapel's character would be much better off without getting reduced to Spock's ex.Can't Chapel and Spock have some other type of meaningful relationship? Must everything have romance in it? Amatonormativity strikes again 🙄🙄🙄

Also why does every Star Trek media after TOS try to make Spock get more " in touch with his human side" TM? Can't it be his VULCAN side for once? You know the other major part of his identity?

(Also I am sorry but If Spock Must have a romantic interest then liked him better with T'pring. actually.They're doomed but they're cute.They better not give her the annoying ex treatment, she deserves better.

Not a shipper but now that I think of it I would take a well-written Spock/Kirk/T'Pring AU .That could make for some interesting relationship-and cultural dynamics)

Honestly gets a chuckle out of me because the intention is sweet despite the lack of knowledge on it but does get annoying when you see multiple kinds of "don't ship Alastor!!" comments on a cute ship post that isn't even sexual in any way

Also don't worry about shipping alastor, it's honestly fine as long you're not trying to erase/deny that he's aroace + it's very interesting the different ways you can explore the aroace spectrum through alastor ships + queerplatonic ships are also a thing

Remember aroace is a spectrum!! Fanfiction is literally "what ifs" and "au's"!! And he's still canon aroace in the show!!
