This year during PRIDE she'll learn about stonewall and why we're still fighting for that too. She's old enough to tag along and participate with more understanding so she will. She's learned about bodily autonomy and women's rights as well. And she's learned about having a healthy relationship with nature; to respect the critters, plants, water, and climate.

Protest and fighting and standing up for yourself and your rights and being a good ally are all family values in my house. And if the school won't teach that to her then it's on me, just like it's on all of us.

And no, she doesn't know or understand enough to have a whole debate but she's 9. There's still so much time to teach her more. But she understands the basics and for kids, it really doesn't need to be more complicated than that because she's just interacting with other kids.

I taught her about police & homophobia in 2020 as soon as I got her back from her homophobic dad. She was 6.

It was as easy as "But I'm a gay people too & when you say theyre gross that hurts my feelings. Do you have to think what your dad thinks?"

Giving her the freedom to make that choice herself, to disagree, and grow out of it and end that association with "gross" was the best thing I could've done for her. Cuz guess who told me she might like boys and girls 3 years later?

why is RGG so afraid of Kiryu getting older? I havent played Y6 yet but I have a feeling RGG is ok with Kiryu being middle aged. They did show some uncomfortable feelings about him being single in his 40s on Y5, but him behaving as a more mature individual is there, same as the rest of the cast (yes, even Majima, lmao).

And i wouldnt go into this tangent if they hadnt dropped that Y8 footage

(correct me if im wrong, lmao) but it’s not often that people get to play franchises that span through decades of people’s lives, like (you guessed it) Yakuza. I love that. I had been avoiding the newest RGG trailers, and I still havent fully watched The Summit™️, but I watch highlights a couple weeks ago, and it took me some more time to work on this puzzle. Most Japanese people (and other ethinicities, as far as i know) look youthful well into their 50s, when compared to white people (I’m Brazilian, so I see the ethnic mix and match everyday (on my own body lol) and how that affects people’s looks). Of course there’s levels of overall self-care, sun exposure, yadda yadda. I’m fairly certain Kiryu doesnt have a skin care routine other than washing his face everyday lmao but he takes care of himself, he exercises constantly (lol), so that helps. His face is fine, awesome beautiful skin (even though i much prefer the Y5 style, compared to dragon engine botching everyone*, but he looks great). If everything is fine and dandy. Why is that a thing?

Not only are they still bringing him for 8, and we dont fully know what that will be like, but 7 was already a cameo, so giving him more screentime on 8 doesnt make sense at all but go off, i guess. We will never fully understand why RGG has been saying goodbye to Kiryu for 6 games already and not fully letting him go. I say 6 games bc I’m considering the last 6 mainline games (6, 0, K1, K2, I’d say Y7, and apparently 8?). Gaiden and Ishin are fine, and I’m so happy about those decisions. I honestly think it’s a much better decision to keep them in spin offs if they still want bank on his brand, and give space to new characters and adventures in the mainline games (and judgement!). But then I look at that grey haired mess and im so puzzled.

And we’ve joked about him looking like a boyband member, whatever that is. *We still dont know if that’s a disguise or a midlife crisis. And if it is a midlife crisis, and they actually take that angle of him struggling with age, i’d give them all the kudos. That would actually be a bold, beautiful move.

Is milking Kiryu just a marketing tactic, or is it something deeper within RGG? Again, correct me if I’m wrong, I’ve speculated about this before, about them being uncomfortable with their character’s age. But are they also uncomfortable with handing the story over to new characters? Do they feel trapped with Kiryu being the (middle aged, totally not elder) face of the franchise?* Or maybe theyre afraid the franchise is not gonna be relevant anymore because it isnt full of lolis and shotas? The west is very anxious about the teenage dream, the live fast die young mentality. Majima has that underlying feeling, he has talked about it here and there. And I would love if they went in on that. It’s not like Y7 wasnt successful, it was the introduction to so many people to the franchise. We know it made bank. We know people love Ichiban + the new crew. We know RGG is moving on. The bat has exchanged hands already. So Kiryu being on Y8, looking like that, on promotional material? It’s such a step back…

As of 2022, Kiryu is 54 years old. Majima is 58. There’s only so much flashbacking RGG can do so they can hide their anxiety about their mascot almost being an elder. Are they afraid of growing old themselves? NPCs have been calling Kiryu an old men since yakuza 1, and that did bother me bc *I was just playing as this baby on Y0, how dare you call him old? he’s 30 D: And I’m almost 30, so I understand my own qualms, so I can only imagine what goes on on the majority of the 50 yo department heads on RGG. And for gods sake, we know they can model awesome older characters.

The most beautiful model Kashiwagi has ever had is his Y7 one* (Sources are kinda confusing because apparently he was born in 1948? So he’d be 71 in 2019? I mean, good for him if true!! lol) (also yes, this is the asterisc. As far as I’ve looked, Kashiwagi is by far the character who’s aged the most beautifully. I cant do anything but clap lmao) Kazama is also very handsome, and he was born in 1945, so he is 60 in Y1/K1. A more apt comparison would be Sera, who was in his 30s in Y0 and 49 on Y1. He has some streaks, you know. And then there’s Kiryu, botoxed to the gods at 51 on Y8.

We know they can do this. Majima talks about being an old man in Y5, and he was 40 then. If you wanna tell me Majima dyes his hair black because he doesnt wanna see his reflection greying, I’m 100% ok with that. But it’s about time. We’ve been playing those characters for almost 20 years, we have seen almost 40 years of their lives. These are conversations we* could be having at this point, even if it’s substories. But not all hope is lost though!

I dont know if it’s the lighting, but his model on Gaiden does have some some grayish bits. And that’s 2018 (before Y8 even but we can let that slide bc technology, lol they can retroactively grey him). And given that Gaiden seems to be a lot more personal and small, maybe we could have that age talk then. I can only hope. TLDR: RGG. Buddy (lol). We are still gonna love Kiryu even if he’s no longer young (he is still beautiful). Please recognize the fact that we are all aging up, our bodies and our skin. And so are the characters we play with. Kiryu isnt gonna stop being a good avatar because he’s older. And also, let go. Ichiban is the new avatar. And people love him. Move on. We all have. If you (as people who make the company) are uncomfortable about getting older, use that opportunity to talk about that aging anxiety. We (the fans) will need that when we get to that point (whether we’re pushing 20, 30, 40, 70, 80). Because that white haired monstrosity needs to mean something, you couldve gone without it. Pls. Dont let that be a hair disaster like Y4 Saejima. You had the ps3 excuse then, you dont have that now, you know how to do hair lmao. Pls lmao

I think this is very interesting because this gives us a further glimpse into the Camarilla. As Steve or whatever his name was said the Camarilla take care of their own, private schools, connections everything which leads me to believe that they have their own hiearchy. The same witches have High Atlantics who gets the mansions and money and the warmeat who just sent to die I feel like the Camarilla also have their elite and their drones. We saw the drones at the Bellweather wedding. They had no fear and were willing to burn themselves alive for their mission but the Elite at Samhain? I feel like they don't risk themselves and when they suddenly realized that their lives were at an actual risk they utterly panicked. I mean even with her powers they could have easily killed Scylla. They were literally all armed with stones and there were so many of them they could have simply swarmed her but her chilling speech, her calm demeanor.....she literally bluffed her way through and succeeded I think this the HUGE difference between Camarilla and the miliatary. High Atlantic may be privileged but they fight just as fiercy as the war meat. If they see a threat they wouldn't even think of running they would pounce without hestiation. Which is the reason why I think Camarilla can never win. You can't win a war when your leaders are cowards And the second part is that I am guessing that they simply don't know how to deal with the Spree. They had decades to study the military, to know how to counter the scourges, the common seeds, the usual tactics. But the Spree? They just hide out and randomly murder everyone around them. hi!! lets talk abt boone/arcade fanfic and the issue of depicting gay men as perverted/predatory :)

lets start out by touching on the stereotype of gay men being predatory/inherent perverts

theres an awful trend within media where queer characters; gay men, lesbians, and bisexual, and trans people alike, are depicted as, you guessed it, perverted and predatory. especially towards straight characters. lusting after them, flirting with them despite the other character is showing clear discomfort, even going as far as sexually harrassing, both verbally and physically, them. it stems from the perceived notion that queer people are inhentally oversexual beings. that being oversexual goes hand in hand with lgbt+ identities. its often the reason why some cishet people, upon learning a colleage of theirs is queer, immeditely thinks that that colleague is now dead set on having sex/starting a relationship with them.

you may be asking "okay so what does this have to do with boone/arcade fanfic" the answer is, surprisingly: a lot!!!

ive read just about every single boone/arcade fanfic on ao3, which granted isnt many. something ive noticed is that people LOVE depicting arcade as a horny, perverted, has-no-boundries teen and boone as a straight laced straight boy who uses arcade as, pardon my crass language, a hole to use for stress relief. and dont get me wrong, pure smut fics arent inherently bad, but you have to be very mindful considering that one of the characters is canonically gay. fuck bro, you have to be mindful period when it comes to queer ships. unintentional usage of harmful stereotypes is rampant in fandom. i always get very wary of non gay men authors write about gay male relationships, and especially about gay sex. i hate to gatekeep a whole ass sexuality but some of you just dont get it. not to mention, the trend of boone being a "its just one man"/arcadesexual (honestly same tho) kinda guy. as if the idea of him being queer is unfathomable. i promise you that straight boys dont fuck their gay friends nearly as much as you think.

on a more personal note, thinking of my own experience as a gay man who's been through. A Lot. when it comes to sexual relationships. i have to say that the diluted, watered down plot of "gay man turns straight guy" is uhmmm gross!! the idea of arcade making so many sexual comments to boone and coming on to him in such a casual way is really upsetting and follows the line of inherently over sexual gay men. the idea that gay men dont care if the men they are attracted to are straight or not, theyll harass them till the goddamn cows come home. the trend of gay men pushing and pushing and pushing till their an inch away from being punched. that they dont care about peoples boundries. the tone deafness of it all is palpable. not to mention a huge mischaracterized of arcades character, as well as boones to a certain degree.

actually, lets talk more abt that :) people also love to warp arcades personality and characterization to fit the plot of the story theyre writing. its as if they forget that he's a whole ass 35 year old man. a full grown adult man with three decades worth of life experience as a gay man. as if he doesnt have a very clear personality type and how it affects his sexuality. its insane!! despite having the highest charisma out of all the companions, i promise you that hes not as suave and smooth talking as you all make him out to be. hes just old and has experience. thats off topic tho hold on gimme a hot min.

hes also a full on wasteland genius. he most likely knows the nuance and egg shell walking that comes with being a queer man, around a straight boy, especially in a place so fucked and shit as post apocalyptic america. major knight, who's most likely not a ten intelligence, is full aware and wary of how the west view queer people. so the idea of arcade flirting with a perceived cishet man (from the ncr no less !!!) is the wildest notion ive seen in the fandom. almost middle aged old ass man arcade knows better than to do that and people discard that for the situation of "gay man flirts with 'straight' guy and makes him haha uncomfortable with no concern for the result of his unwarranted actions" the idea that he would disregard someones comfort to that level makes me wonder if yall ever leave ur bedrooms and interact with real people. not to mention the idea of boone just. accepting these come ons. that he just puts up with it and lets it happen, regardless of how he feels. which is even worse when you realize thats exactly how he would respond. he would just let himself be uncomfortable. or, worse, giving in not bc he reciprocates but again bc hes just horny. giant mischaracterization and also straight boys don't do that.

For how far we’ve come in displaying Tyrannosaurus in digital media. Especially because I just remembered the trailer for Prehistoric Planet and yall, Im not emotionally ready for these dinos-

I mean look at em, stocky, chonky, and everything i couldve hoped for. Why do i bring this up? Because a video on youtube was recommended to me showing some of the first T-Rex renditions and Im just

Look at how absolutely dumpy this guy looks. And you know what? I adore em. And I wish I knew about them sooner because theyre so funky for no other reason other than because that was our best guess at the time. And they stayed like this for such a long time, and even when Jurassic Park came out and really set in stone what we sort of all agreed was what they looked like for the next decade or so, they still werent entirely right.

But I dunno man, I love the novelty and literal evolution of how our understanding of these long extinct animals has changed through better understanding. From upright and a lil dumpy, to downright terrifying with some dental issues, to now a more accurate (although maybe still not entirely correct) predator that honestly was probably pretty chill most of the time.

And you know what, we’ll probably never get the correct rendition, but i love watching things people create evolve alongside what gets updated and studied. Its just such a good time capsule to see physically.

TL;DR: I love dinosaurs, theyre cool, and old Tyrannosaurs looked dumpy as hell. But I love how far we’ve come to depict them in a more natural way. Thats all, goodnight uwu
