I miss Jonsa so much but I miss the fandom so much more. I missed the emotion of coming to tumblr and always finding theories of what would happen next, great authors writing brilliant fics, just people enjoying art and talking about it for so many years. There were chat groups and so many ways to share your theories and analysis time and time again. Even when season 7-8 aired and we suffered and got frustrated and sad together.... it was wonderful it was a shared experience but now there are really few people still in the fandom and it's just sad that now feels so lonely when it used to be my comfort place.

I’m so sorry you feel that way, anon! I chose to leave the one jonsa discord I was part of not long after joining it, so I don’t feel quite the same sense of loss, although I sympathize with your feelings of bereavement. The tags aren’t as active as they once were, but considering how much we hated how they wrote Jon and how long ago GoT ended, I think our fandom does a remarkable job in still finding things to talk about. We still occasionally get new art (lovely, gorgeous, pls we are not worthy more here), we still have active fic writers (a writer of all AUs, modern AUs, on a crime and horror kick, historical and canon-verse AUs, so many more authors -fic tag!), and we even still get new gifsets and so many parallels!

I understand it isn’t the same, your favorite writer may have left the fandom, there isn’t a constant flow of new content, but it makes me even more grateful for those who still do attempt to contribute to the fandom, by creating or by encouraging those who do, by simply reblogging or leaving a comment or sending an ask. It will never be the same, but still find so much joy in our little corner of the fandom.

Also, the announcement of the Jonsquel has some show fans occasionally poking their heads in, so when we get a release date for that, I think there are a lot of people ready to get the buzz again! Anon hate in the TMR fandom

Hey-ho! As many people know, someone has been sending hateful asks and AO3 comments around the Maze Runner fandom for a while now. These messages are usually about thominho or newtmas, with an excessive focus on Newt. On AO3, the anon almost always uses some variation of the name "thominhoe". Other notable quirks are the constant use of <333, mentions of specific tumblrs or ao3 accounts other than your own, and instances of Newt's name being replaced with the work crank (so key words are crankmas, mincrank etc).

If you have been getting any of these comments or anons, or got them in the past, I would really appreciate it if you could send me screenshots of them (with timestamps if possible, if you still have the asks in your tumblr inbox or saved the emails, you can find them there for asks).

I've been investigating since January, but this has mostly been discord-based, so I know I might have missed anyone who was targeted without being a member of any servers I'm also in myself.

If you've been targeted, you can contact me through Tumblr DMs. This anon has been at it for a very long time, so anything you think of is useful even if the messages were sent a while ago.

I've been taking every precaution possible to prevent investigating this from stirring up more discourse, so please don't give the anon what they want. To anyone that listens to podcasts: how do you feel ab a slight accent in your listening experience? Should i go for it or not?

I personally don't mind accents and I know a lot of others don't either, and if they do, then they probably wouldn't listen anyway.

Honestly, I would say to just do it. If you wanna make Podfics, then make them. There will always be someone out there who says something rude/uncalled for, just ignore them as best you can.

Also, have you ever thought of also doing it in your native language, if its not English? I don't think I have seen many translated Podfics but that could be because I mostly read English. I guess that's a lot more work though huh I hope that doesn't sound rude in any way! 😅

As for what character I'd like to write, well... I am open to either! I have experience with both characters, and I love to write them, so I'm fine with whoever you choose. All I ask is that you are someone who is patient and understanding, as I can get busy, and have health issues that can at times prevent me from replying daily. That being said, I shoot for once a week at the least, and every other day to daily at the most- I always keep my partners informed, so no worries there, and always feel free to poke me if it's been a bit.

Does anyone else ever feel lonely when people talk about their group chats and discords? There's nothing wrong with that and I'm genuinely happy for people who are making friends , but sometimes I wish that I was too...

I'm really sorry you feel that way. I actually do totally get you, since I found it very hard to talk to people when I was younger too, both online and irl. It's difficult to see people have private jokes when you want that, but aren't talking to anyone from the fandom.

What I can tell you is that while it might feel daunting at first, you just gonna...take the leap sometimes? Message someone you like in the fandom first. You can absolutely message me, I genuinely mean it when I say my dms are always open, especially to talk about fandom stuff.

I also give my discord username pretty liberately if you message me, if that's what you prefer. But yeah genuinely if we are talking about JO/Käärijä fandoms everyone is really welcoming.

To give you a little trick that might help you, since it helped me-if you are unsure what to message at first, find out smth the person has made. Fanfic, fanart, relatable post, a meme, whatever. And send the post and say smth like "hey, I know we didn't talk before but I loved this because of x thing. I thought it was really cool what you did with that." Conversation flows easier after that and like, worst case scenario, even if it doesn't, you just gave someone a compliment. No harm done.

And I know it can be difficult to let go of thinking "but what if they think I'm weird?" scenarios, but I promise you that even if they do, they'll forget about it in like, few minutes. Most people don't dwell on things like these and your embarrassment over smth you said lasts much longer than the memory of that convo for the other person.

And hey, best case scenario is, you made a friend! And usually it becomes easier to expand on your friends once you made one. I only knew two ppl from my current discord gc that I talk here most often. But then I was added in and now I know 7 people. That's how connection often.
