[Hamilton chorus voice] NUMBER ONE: Giant freakin phantompedes and how to escape them

-I was right about the football field lights to try to kill them idea yippee

-HOEWVERR, theres so many attacking the school rn and its freaking collapsing?? I literally dont know how they’re gonna get outta this

-Unless (unless) my Phantom Ashlyn theory is relevant, ashlyn can talk to them and tells them to go away and they… do! idk lol it's stupid but maybe ash has enough girl boss energy to convince them. or theyre so shocked by a human talking to them theyre like "dang ok". Could still happen!

NUMBER TWO: Phantom Transformation Theory

So it’s Basically confirmed:

If you die in the PD, you start to turn into a Phantom.

Of course we wont know for sure until we actually SEE it but like, Aiden’s creepy af smile and basically coming back to life in ashlyn’s arms after DYING it’s like, basically confirmed.

Ash wonders why Aiden snapped out of his seizure so fast compared to Tyler. Severity of injuries could definitely be a factor (tho like, im assuming Aiden got freaking blunt force trauma brain damage which, to me, is just as bad as being impaled). Another factor could be that Tyler died only about 30 minutes into the Time, while Aiden died almost right when it ended. And… we saw how fast Aiden started to “turn”. Red technically never shows us Tyler during those hours after he died. He very well… may have completely phantomized, but when he woke up in the real world, the transformation reverted. I'm very scared abt what Aiden’s gonna be like next night.

SUB THEORY: The Power of Human Connection and Phantom Reversal

Remember how Jasmine (the gang tour girl) asked if it was alright that all the kids got sucked in w/ ashlyn? This implies that

1. They usually expect 1 person/their target to get sucked into the PD

2. The origami gang has never dealt with a group being sucked in at once

- I believe (and the evil gang doesnt know this) that the kids being together is an integral part of their future survival. Tyler snapped back to consciousness in the hospital after Taylor had her PISSED moment. This moment was similar to Logan’s freakout, in that it tugged the phantom world to the real world, for a second. I think these intense emotions (taylor’s specifically out of anger and worry for her twin), pulled tyler’s “soul” out of the PD and into the RD.

- Now, you may ask, “what abt if a random person got into the PD and died and went into a seizure/coma? Why couldnt their loved ones “bring” them back?” thats a good Q idk. Perhaps the kids all being in the PD together is what creates this flow, a two-way street, between the two dimensions.

- Anyway also while Ashlyn and co didnt didnt get into an angry freakout moment when Aiden died, but we all know Ash and Aiden got something developing/going on thats special ♥, and thats what tugged Aiden back (its cliche but its the power of love there i said it).

- Also NOT saying that the other kids’ concern over their friends doesn’t matter or count (Ben and Aiden are Fam too), but like, i’m wondering if it needs to be a REALLY INTENSE love (familial/romantic/whatever) in order to basically bring someone back from the dead. idk

-interestingly, ty WAS essentially in a coma-like state, like how the spy said, which supports that it’s expected that ppl die in the PD eventually, and go into comas. I’m wondering if those who normally get sucked into the PD and die, theyre dealing with it by themselves, have no one to “pull them back” like taylor and/or ashlyn did, and they stay in a coma.

-rlly hope the boys arent like “possessed” or smn. Maybe the soul is like, tainted? Those big black eyes man… (ALSO THAT PREVIEW IMAGE WITH LOGAN AND THE BIG BLACK EYES??? WHAT??)

-going off the dead PD ppl turn into phantoms theory>> If a phantom is killed, their connected person in the RD who was in a coma dies fr permanently

NUMBER THREE: Ashlyn and the Phantoms (cool new band name)

we know the kids are getting influenced by the PD, making phantom noises (further supports phantoms were people theory) but with Ashlyn's "really strong" connection to the PD, she's in special danger. If one can turn into a phantom without dying, it's gonna be her. Ryan the spy said that "the girl" – assumingly ashlyn– should be "especially" at risk of danger. This could be bc she was the one who interacted with the rift, or bc she already has a higher level of phantom influence on her.

-when ashlyn told the phantom to let go, and her friends to calm down, both times she spoke with a black speech bubble WITH PHANTOM NOISE LINES NEAR IT. this is different than characters who have also spoken with black bubbles (aiden, logan, taylor). obviously these have been with threats/malice, but they didn't have the red lines. These times ashlyn has spoken, the phantom acknowledged her voice, and her friends' spell-like violence trance was broken. Theory: ashlyn not only can hear phantoms, but she can speak their language sort of

-when ashlyn was born, a phantom like touched her in a blessing/cursing sense which is part of the reason why she can hear phantoms and her strong PD connection. possibly even possession????

-tldr i want ashlyn to enter her monster girl era

The evil gang seems confused why the kids have lasted so long. maybe Ashlyn's PD connection goes both ways. she provides a strong anchor to the RD. Maybe the PD is USUALLY all desolate with the pillars that we saw in the finale (maybe it's even an afterlife of sorts?), but Ashlyn makes a huge radius (~30 miles! (assuming kids were driving at least 60mph for 30 minutes)) of the PD around where she wakes up mirror the real world, creating a safer space for her and the kids. meanwhile a normal person that gets sucked into the PD gets thrown into a desolate hell world different from the RD (also maybe stuck there permanently), causing them to die much quicker.

-maybe this influence is even part of the reason why RD tyler is awake (And aiden)

-Ashlyn's influence extends to jamming the recording devices like some kind of weird phantom static.

-Broke: Ashlyn's parents wanted her to learn self defense and have a knife bc they're in the military. Woke: they want her to be able to protect herself after the phantom scare when she was a baby

-Also THANK GOD she’s finally acting on her intuition. Sm times she’s been like “this feels bad!” and doesnt do anything. Almost makes me wonder if it’s a supernatural intuition based on phantom stuff. Like shes WAY OFF from the hospital and the drama and is like “HMM! Smn going on”

NUMBER FOUR: Origami gang and Co INC.

-The gangs symbol is an origami crane (orizuru). the crane in East Asia has longevity as one of its symbolisms, with some myths saying it flies souls up to paradise. there's the popular myth that if you fold 1000 cranes you get a wish.

Heres where the evil twist comes in. The gang boss believes that if he traps 1000 people in the PD as like, a sacrifice, then he'll get a wish and he'll ask for eternal life or whatever. this gang is a cult and he's tricked everyone saying that they'll also get a long life but really it's probably only gonna be him 🤫 So they go around to different haunted places in America and pick ppl they sense can open these shadow rifts and get sucked in. the phantoms may be ppl they trapped in the past and they've turned into phantoms

-Ryan, the guy who's spying on the kids, maybe is ALSO "Mr. thomas". he just puts on a wig and is a good actor lol. this is the reason why he asks about "Mr. Thomas's" fate. What goes against this is that Ryan seems to know all about the PD mechanisms, which doesn't fit Mr. Thomas being confused abt ashlyns hair. Unless he wasn't expecting it

– or "Mr thomas" could just be Ryan's friend or brother or smn. A low ranked guy in the gang that got stuck with roping Ashlyn into Savannah, but doesn't know the truth/details about the PD.

-the gang mentions that "both sides" are trying to track them. either the government and a supernatural hunting group, or even some force in the PD like some Alpha Phantom like the devil who's like "Where's my dead people quota hello?" or better yet "you're messing with MY domain and I'm gonna Get You".

-This is based solely on the Boss' appearance and smiling countenance: the gang Boss is Aiden's uncle, his dad's brother, his weird, estranged brother who's also evil probably. I'm really hung on this idea don't mind me

-you have to be able to make a paper origami crane from memory to be an official gang member /hj

NUMBER FIVE: Gen story/Character arcs and futures

-ready for a “power of love and friendship” aesop. these kids are gonna be so Bonded now after these traumatic experiences

-i had come up with an elaborate “death order” but thats now completely jossed now so im ignoring that

-PRAISING THE FREAKING LORD THAT ALL THE PARENTS KNOW NOWAND THAT MIKE BELIEVES THEM AND IS HELPING HIS DAUGHTER. DAD OF THE YEAR AWARD. IF ANYTHING AHPPENS TO HIM IM SUEING!!!!!

- SO NOW that all the parents know, and like, have seen all the phantoms and everything and BTW WILL PROBABLY GET SUCKED INTO THE PD AT SOME POINT because they felt the shift like the kids did, they help the kids get to Savannah yippee!! a cool Big family squad force they all hop on a working school bus or smn and drive there. PLs

- the families getting sucked in would be HUGE cause they arent prepared. Logan’s grandparents and Lily are top targets 😭

So the kids are gonna get kidnapped. that's definitely gonna be a thing, either mid S2 or ending. up in the air whether the kidnapping is successful or not. (assuming the gang would be smart enough to get rid of the kids’ phones when they get them)

-actually I'm placing my bets now S2 finale will be them getting kidnapped and it just cuts off there for another awful cliffhanger.

-since it seems Mr thomas will be involved, he'll ask the kids to stay after school to talk abt their failing grades or smn, and then maybe they're hit with knockout gas??

OR the gang has been spying on them so they pick a time the kids all separated and jump them.

-maybe this is when aiden knowing where ashlyns dance studio is is actually plot relevant!!?? like he (and Ben probably cuz they're always together) are able to escape their attackers and Aiden goes to help ashlyn cuz he wants to make sure she's OK. and she's either fine cuz she's a girl boss and can kick butt, or he saves her oo la la

–lol imagine kidnapping is successful, gang tells kids why they were kidnapped, (if Evil Boss Uncle theory is true this helps facilitate this) but Ashlyn "goes off" on Aiden yelling and "attacking" him and stuff saying he's part of the gang, he planned it all along etc, but it's all a ruse to have the gang think she'll cause another energy spike (and Aiden gets this and plays along) so assuming the kids are locked up, the gang opens their cell to stop ashlyn, and that's when they escape lol

so like, i THOUGHT ashlyn/aiden was gonna be a slow burn but HAHAHA. i mean not as freaking slow obviously as like Miraculous love square lol, but like slow for thriller standards? But things are gonna be heating up between these two 😏 watch ashlyn be ~conflicted~ and ~in denial~~. And meanwhile poor aiden is a confused boy who doesnt know what ash wants like “b u told me to give u space and now here u are grasping my hand like ur life depends on it”

Sorry back to character arcs:

Ashlyn: Learn to trust and connect with people, make friends, lean on others. Could be nice if she accepts and admits the kids are her friends by the end of S2, leaving the next season for Aiden/Ashlyn dev specifically? More development about her connection with the PD, which could put friendship to the test. [already getting this with her dad and Aiden so this is great]

Also she has the freaking GUILT like i expected! Watch her think tay hates her for like a week before tay is like “no?? I hate the ppl who did this to us instead” and then they hug it out 👍

Taylor: Willing to bet money the twins are unhealthily codependent on each other. She is on the edge bro. Unhinged feral. Is probably gonna be more angry in general despite it being a bad idea, like the top has been blown off. Bottled up emotions~!

Still thinking she’ll get close to Ben too (whether anything romantic develops on top of it is debatable, but I can see it. theyve already got a cute little closeness going on)..

Tyler: Get this boy some ~THERAPY~ help he’s so depressed and angry. Learn to have hope again (like ben 😭). He has so much negativity inside him, i dont think that’ll help with whatever is going on with him rn like, hes probably in the THICK of the PD influence. He’s kinda like ash, needs to learn to rely on others.

Logan: Seems to be overcoming his fragility well if the arcade scene is any indication. Still has self-worth issues to overcome due to his parents' abandonment. Maybe we'll learn more about that in S2. That could be a rumor and the real reason he lives with his grandparents is that his parents died but idk why that'd be hidden unless their death was suspicious (like, drug ring?? His gpa got the GOODS APPARENTLY).

Ben: Still needs to find a new passion for life, i suspect playing musical instruments like the guitar will be the answer (thank you tyler). Tho maybe learning to love his altered voice could happen? (tons of dudes have a rough/husky singing voice that ppl love) But this is probably unlikely.

Aiden: Good Lord like, Aiden being (most likely) suic.idal in the past (and possibly even still NOW?) has floored me. I figured his loneliness and suspected parental neglect was bad but IT’S BAD. Dude wants to feel alive and not depressed… frick. AIDEN ARE YOU going to therapy??? Do your parents KNOW??? Is that why your parents finally settled down?? Guh. this on top of probably untreated ADHD.

–I’m assuming now Aiden started dying his hair to try to get any fragment of serotonin.

– Kinda wondering if he grew up in a "toxic positivity" mentality home, where his parents are like "we're so privileged we shouldn't complain" ?

– im actually THIS close to beating Aiden’s parents with a stick.

NUMBER SIX: Miscellaneous predictions, wants, musings & hypotheticals.

-guessing now that the twin’s dad had cancer or smn

-hey uh what about the photo Logan took of the phantom back at the sorrel-weed house?? surely he still has it? can he show the parents?? will they be able to see it?

-Logan saw the whole Aidlyn hug from the roof from his snipper position, change my mind.

-Another “death” will happen in S2, possibly even two deaths. (GOD I WAS RIGHT)

-Mr thomas switches sides and helps the kids, gives them info

-Ryan (the spy) switches sides and helps the kids

-the tour lady Jasmine and the Boss are a hot evil couple

also kinda want them to have a Rourke & Helga dynamic where he throws her under the bus at the last moment and she's Bissed

-I want the boss to die by his own evil plan.

–i doubt a redemption arc will happen but I'd be down for it if done well.

-*grabs your shoulders until they bleed* listen. Aiden saved ashlyn, now I need her to save him. I need this.

-Taylor and Ashlyn girl time please!!!

-Logan and Aiden becoming closer would also give me joy. big Freckle and Rocky energy.

-this doesn't have to happen but I think it'd be really funny if Aiden somehow gets the IDEA that Logan has a crush on Ashlyn when Logan doesn't, causing a stupid silly short jealousy arc.

-actually I really need a "can skydive from 10,000 ft but can't confess to the girl he likes" Aiden Clark

-I've got a bad feeling smn will happen to Ashlyn's parents, specifically her dad

-if any of the gang/cult members hurt the kids or their fam fr irl im gonna >8) lose it

-the Origami gang fails to kidnap the kids and they accidentally create a huge "energy spike", making phantoms appear everywhere in town.

-if the kids DO get kidnapped successfully, I want Ashlyn to be an awesome girlboss and use her knife shoes to help them escape.

-if my puppy fic became Canon that'd be swaggie actually.

-let Ashlyn have a dog 2023

-pov you're in Georgia in the fall and a hurricane hits, knocking out solar power for a few days. what then? :)

-when all this garbage is over and they hopefully all live in the end, I want them to have a fun stargazing party led by Logan cause they can finally enjoy the night (And maybe aidlyn have their first Kiss?? 🙈)

-If there ISNT a "group goes to see Ashlyn in a ballet performance" scene then I'm WRITING IT MYSELF

-At the end of all things, Aiden and Ashlyn will become a couple, or at least have reciprocal romantic feelings. This is not just my shipper heart talking. I feel it in my brain, in my soul.

-So we know one or both of Aiden’s parents are writers. If anyone knows if that trophy Aiden’s dad is holding in that photo is a real award, hmu

-a kid going into an angry protective phantom mode to protect another(s) 😳 (aidlyn on the brain but it could be anyone)

-if I had a nickel for every time I've imagined Aiden dying in Ashlyn's arms, I'd have many nickels (IT BASICALLY HAPPENED! GREAT! 👍😭)

-what if having a good singing voice ran in Ben's family? haha jkjk…unless??? but they don't sing like ever cuz they don't want Ben to feel bad

-man what if an sbg kid “died” by a phantom pushing them down a set of stairs..

-Rlly hope that Aiden's parents don't get scared seeing phantoms in their house and hearing other families having phantoms in THEIR houses and thinking the whole town is haunted, and they consider moving which they don't wanna do bc Aiden finally has friends but what else can they do!? angst.

-John 15:13 for Ashlyn with the others except it's not permanent (I'm not saying ash is a Jesus figure tho WHWKEJEJDJ)

-I rlly wanna see ashlyn laugh

-Taylor actually using her mechanic skills. like maybe the jeep gets damaged [HAPPENED] and she fixes it. I dont want that jeep gone bro its already iconic (update: it’s probably gone bro.. sad)

hello i have a question if its ok! how do you think mars conjuct venus synastry would translate in a professional relationship? like mentor/student kind where the mentor is the mars

ive seen that in friendship it can work just the two will prob feel the attraction and the mars might get slightly irritated if the venus person has smn else in their lifes so im wondering about what would happen in a relationship that wont allow this

Hello, yes! Astrology questions are okay but please take everything with a grain of salt since I am totally not a professional, I'll just be speaking out of personal experience and the studies I've done so far!

Yes, Mars conjunct Venus synastry can work in platonic ways too, but there will be 'something' a little off or different about the chemistry between those two nevertheless. It's somewhat of an idealism. Even if the Mars person and Venus person are both not interested in dating each other, at the back of their minds they will know they are ideal for each other in some way.

That's one part of it. There is more, so allow me to slowly build up to it by explaining the Mars - Venus dynamic generally.

Stereotypically, they say that the Mars person is more 'masculine' (in the idea that they are more bold, aggressive and chase after the Venus) and the Venus person is more 'feminine' (in the idea that they are more passive and give in to the Mars person). However, I'll present you with a slightly different perspective: Venus is what a person offers in a relationship, Mars is what a person is looking for in a relationship in order to settle down. It makes sense this way too, if you really wanna hold on to the whole Mars chase Venus thing, that what the 'woman' (Venus) offers makes the 'man' (Mars) wanna settle with her. Therefore, it's the Venus person that sets off the Mars person. The Venus person motivates Mars.

Because of this, in a student - teacher situation I've mostly seen Venus be the teacher and Mars be the student. It's actually much more natural like that, in my opinion. The calm of Venus and gentle support drives Mars to learn, to act. I've seen this be very favorable and Venus breathed life back into Mars and got them moving every time they'd need it.

However the situation you're explaining is quite the opposite, where Mars is the teacher and Venus is the student. Now, I'm not saying it's not going to work, because it's still a nice synastry. It signifies mutual respect and the possibility of coming to speak "the same language" if you get what I mean. Finding the middle ground of their beings to a point where their personalities start speaking a language the two invented and they can intuitively understand each other. That will exist no matter who the mentor is.

But with Mars as the mentor there might be problems with the aggression. Mars might be too imposing or quite the contrary, afraid of doing or saying anything too harsh because they're afraid not to hurt Venus. Must figure out the right way and moments to be strict/lenient. Mars should not be impatient with Venus and celebrate their wins. Mars should not be afraid of telling Venus when they do something wrong, but gently not with aggression. Overall, the Mars person needs to be patient, gentle, supportive and forgiving - embrace a more guiding persona rather than a domineering one.

When it comes to Venus however, I feel Venus will really strive to be a perfect student. Listen very well, silently take in all the information and process it and figure out the best way to use it. It's almost like a teacher's pet situation and Venus will do everything in their power to make Mars feel proud of them. Because of this, Venus needs to watch out in terms of respecting their own boundaries and not over-compromising. Should be careful to not do things just to please Mars or because they're afraid of Mars and their disappointment or anger. In some other cases, if Mars steps over Venus' personality and sensitivity way too long, I feel it could turn into a love-hate relationship. (Something along the lines of Venus secretly hating Mars and just people pleasing them.)

Gotta make sure both people have both respect for each other and also for themselves.

When it comes to a teaching situation like this, Mars and Venus is not really... Ideal to look at though. I'd personally look at Mercury, as it represents intelligence more thoroughly. Does the intelligence type of the Mars person match the intelligence type of the Venus person? If not, some adjustments might be needed, teaching should be approached in a way that is more easy to understand by Venus.

You can also look at Pluto, since it is a generational planet and can signify growing up with very different mentalities. Maybe that can help fill in the gaps, too.

So far, I've only experienced being the Mars in this synastry so like I said, this is mostly speculation based off of the material I read and situations I've seen.

yandere-sins!!!!!!! the god!reader yandere village story got me completely fucked up. in the middle when shit HEATED UP i started out loud begging for a good ending to come.

i knew where it was probably heading and i was already going "NO NO NO" but then it all fucking spiraled and spiraled - until the ending literally had me screaming for a full minute afterwards.

my fuck you really went for it. and like, as excellent as the writing was, i am now left reeling like Aaaaaaaaaa!!!

so...... i am just begging for there to be an ending where the mc's pains will stop (including not letting the torture continue for their baby or smn else like that.)

Honestly, some might read the story and think "wtf is wrong with her" BUT for me, It's tough to be a god was paving the way of a less, hm, tame Sins and much more unhinged. Like I was so nervous posting something so digusting and gory because I kept thinking my followers will really hate me if they see it. (Ha! How the turns have tabled, right? Now providing beautiful disgusting things on the daily.)

In reality, however, I reached my prefered clientele with it and now feel much freer writing whatever the fuck I want. I also got the confirmation that horror was the right way for me to go with yandere, ultimately finding my passion in the genre again. In a way it has started my villain arc for killing characters with similar names to Alex and also for this blog because I realized I needed to be more unhinged.

As mindboggling as it is, that story really brought out my better self, in terms of writing. Like you know... do stuff you want, power through, enjoy your own stories... that kind of stuff. Reflecting on it now, it might not be my magnum opus but it placed the first bricks for my temple of creativity.

Did it have to be the most disgusting, gory story that brought forth that change? No.

But we don't get to choose what makes us grow in life.

Musings aside, I am really glad you had the exact emotions I intended for my readers :D

I will give you the absolute tease that you will hate me for and say that one thing you mentioned actually comes true. And also, always keeping in mind it's a yandere story, there will be a happy ending, yes! At least, one that I'd describe as happy, hehe.

But yeah, the plot is very much decided already, so sorry I can't really take suggestions. I also know some people wished for like a bookish ending where reader gets their revenge but well... this is a yandere blog. And if anyone knows anything about me, darlings don't get happy endings here.

Thoughts about the upcoming FFXIVwrite2022 that mostly devolved into me bitching about EW, so I’ll put them behind a cut out of courtesy.... Think of it as me sneezing into my sleeve instead of into your face.

I want to start by saying I LOVE FXIVWRITE SO MUCH HOLY SHIT. I’ve participated since 2018, and have nearly a hundred pieces of writing that I take genuine pride in to show for it. I’ve gone deeper into Fal’s backstory than I have for any OC I’ve ever had and both indulged my passions and taken myself out of my comfort zones along the way. Most of my followers found me through FFXIVwrite, and I found a bunch of talent to follow as well. I even got a kickass art prize.

2020 was my most productive year with 21 entries, annnd then I fell hard on my face in 2021. To be fair, its mostly because I was raising an orphaned kitten that required bottle feeding every 2-3 hours and was just too damn tired.

So what’s for 2022? Well, about that... I’m a bit worried. Downright scared, actually. I have plenty of bits of Fal’s story I can finish (and a few alts with unexplored backstories of their own who would probably ADORE the attention) but I just haven’t had the wherewithal. Usually the spirit is willing but the mind and body (and time) are weak, but now the spirit seems gone as well. I don’t feel inspired at all. I know a big part of FFXIVwrite is pushing past obstacles and just writing, but for me I just feel like I’ve mined all the good stuff out of me, and I’m afraid I’ll hit rock bottom if I dig much further.

Why do I feel that way? Well...

I've played FFXIV since late ARR, and Endwalker has been by far the most disappointing expansion for me. First and foremost, it killed SMN, which I’ve mained since mid-HW. I'm well aware I can just play a different class, write canon divergent and pretend nothing ever happened, but I really did kind of get my identity and Fal's caught up in pre-EW SMN, intentionally or not. And now its just... gone. Its been the better part of a year, and I’m still mad. Nothing else feels like the old SMN and I feel displaced.

I've tried really hard to like the story as well. It came with 8 years of baggage and the necessitated retconning some things and leaving some loose ends untied, but it just fell flat for me. The concept of dynamis was way too similar to pre-existing concepts in the game and Meteion/Hermes as antagonists felt like they came out of absolutely nowhere (though they were interesting characters in their own right.) The only part I really loved and felt the gravity of was the Garlemald arc, painfully clipped though it was. Putting us in a Garlean’s shoes was great storytelling, and the portrayal of refugees had a lot of care and nuance to it. The scene where Alisaie calls out Zenos, and the scene of Jullus crying into his mug of soup were probably my favorites of the whole expansion. If only they had done more with it.

Yes, I am being a whiny immature crybaby. I sat down wanting to write about my beloved FFXIVwrite and my fears of disappointing it, and I just ended up bitching about EW. My apologies if you read all of this.

About Healers in Endwalker!

I know there's a lot of doom and gloom going around about the healer changes from the LL we just had, but since I do have a bit of basis in speaking about healers, I wanted to make a few points to hopefully clear the air! As always with every pre-expac lull..

WAIT FOR THE MEDIA TOUR AND THE ACTUAL IN PERSON REVIEWS THAT FOLLOW.

Things shown in the Live Letter are not finalized, but will stay mostly the same. Exact numbers, overall class feel and specifics will be much more clear after then! But, without further ado...

"AST is losing its identity!"

That much is kind of obvious. With the removal of Diurnal and Nocturnal sect, AST now lacks the diversity it once had as it's being shoved into the role of a 'pure' healer. Divination changes are interesting and the fact they mentioned a lot of self-buffing has me intrigued. In this case, definitely wait for the Media Tour to see what pans out.

"RIP to SCH lol."

Technically speaking, SCH didn't get much of anything, but like what was stated in the LL - they don't exactly need it. The class in and of itself is quite balanced as it stands, and numbers will always make or break the class when it finally releases. Seeing how SMN's pet AI during Phoenix trance seemed to root the demi-summon in place, I believe there are going to be improvements to pet ai in general, so with that, and some new tools, I think SCH will be just fine, that all just relies on...

"SAGE IS BROKEN. RIP TO SCHOLAR."

That ultimately depends on how the numbers actually pan out in the end. Sage on paper seems to be much like how WHM used to be in comparison to AST/SCH - they're going to focus on damage, (but now it translates to healing ay lmao). A healer having a dash is indeed interesting, but now that all healers have a 1.5 second cast time on spells, mobility in general is going to go through the roof for all of 'em! Just like AST, let's wait for the media tour to see how big these numbers are, because if they're big, Sage has the possibility to outshine SCH...

But then again Sacred Soil being as good as it is DOES keep SCH hanging in there.

"WHM got nothing."

...And they really didn't need much more! The changes in SHB definitely made it WAY better than it ever was, as it finally gained an identity - dps healer! (and bene, of course). For WHM, who didn't have a convenient way to move, getting this 1.5 second GCD is going to be massive for them, and the fact that they're getting miscellaneous things here and there, they're going to be just fine in my predictions.

And remember, as long as Holmgang, LD and Superbolide exist, Benediction is gonna remain king!

no worries anon!! I can sprout absolute nonsense for the both of us 💕 i was gonna write a short thing but then my thoughts got ahead of me so the rest is under the cut!!

so here's my thought: hongjoong said that all of this is pre-treasure series, to me it feels like say my name was the birth of halateez - it was the first era we actually saw them and they seemed to just be existing in the smn mv also hala hala stands for hearts awakened, live alive - which for me envokes this sense of coming to life. So let's say smn is the origin of halateez (i have thoughts that ateez actually summoned halateez but those thoughts are currently muddled) and then they went off and did their thing (hala hala) and then met with ateez again in answer where things didn't go well - hence the destroyed dining room in answer.

Let me backtrack a bit now that we've established what halateez have been up to: if we follow the timeline hongjoong said, inception should be the first mv to occur event-wise. Inception is all about dreams and we see hongjoong running towards his sleeping self but instead of waking up and rehabitating his body he falls into this unknown place. So i think it's fair to assume ateez hongjoong is lost: so who is this impostor hongjoong with ateez in im the one? I really want to say halateez hongjoong (but at this point ??) so let's say it's halateezjoong. That one hj teaser of him saying he's the leader and the captian could be an attempt by halateezjoong to make us believe that he's ateez hongjoong (but the halateezjoong hat gives it away). Also to note in inception we see the tv playing smn mv in seonghwa's solo shots so i think we can say that the timeline of the mvs isn't moving linearly.

The train in im the one has strictland graffitied on it which apparently is an archaic term a narrow piece of land connecting two larger areas - here the train could be how colorful ateez got to the dystopia (we also see them running towards it when things start going to shit). It could also mean strict land aka school. The first half of thanxx mv ateez seems to be at school - and really sick of being there. In inception they're in a classroom where everything has been thrown aside. If the universe where colorful ateez and the classroom exist are the same then I think that the ateez in that universe got tired of life and were dreaming to escape to different realities, and im the one could be one of these realities. In im the one mv we see ateez on a hill planting the ateez flag to the ground, maybe they're trying to make the dystopia their new home but things go up in flames (literally) and they are forced to leave which will take them wherever fever part.3 may be. The name fever in itself implies that this could all be a fever dream - which are very vivid dreams that are super intense (also you have a fever). So im the one could be their first dreamscape. In say my name one of the sets looks like a museum, but all the displays are empty except for the one burnt painting of the tree in im the one. Maybe this museum/the sets in say my name are the origin ground for all the dreamscapes, this is where all the dream versions of ateez gather, in this "hall of dreamscape memories". The last lyric in say my name is also "now a new born, my mind", which again alludes to halateez being born there. This makes me think that halateez is another dreamscape version of ateez that were summoned/created by hongjoong (or halateezhj) with the trumpet thing in smn. At the end of smn the instrumental of treasure plays, maybe to imply that ateez went to experience treasure mv while halateez went to experience hala hala. Then they met up again in answer, which as epilogue, is after everything (so the last mv chronologically). The white masked man first shows up here: outfit color wise he is the opposite of halateez, but both have their faces covered. Maybe this man is in search of halateez because they fucked shit up in their dreamscape or another reason that we don't know of yet. So he retraces halateez's steps from the answer dining room party (where they were last seen) to the first dreamscape.

Back to the tv in seonghwa's room in inception, all dreams are based in reality, therefore the dreamscape museum/ground zero (aka smn mv) could very well be based on something ateez saw on the tv.

I have no idea what halateezjoong's motivations are in following ateez or how he got into their dreamscape in the first place but im assuming that this isn't the end of the storyline so we might see in the future.

Beastmaster (BST) as a FFXIV Job

It's something I've thought of and spoken of on and off for a while now, but I've realized I've never really fully put to paper outside discussions with friends: the idea I came up with to have Beastmaster as a Job in FFXIV.

While the advent of BLU and the Limited Job option opens a lot more possibilities to how to approach bringing this Job into FFXIV that might better fit how it works in other games, the original idea I had comes before we knew of this new approach to Job design. As such, this idea is built around adapting and adjusting BST using the basic Job setup as provided by all non-BLU Jobs.

Disclaimer: It should be noted that this is all speculation and ideas for the sake of fun and mental exercise. I haven't put much - or any - thought into such matters as move potency, global and off-global cooldown timers, or anything like that. Even the names are mostly either spur of the moment or straight pulled from elsewhere. It is all pure aesthetic theorycrafting and while matters like balance and applicability are considered, they are more afterthoughts than anything.

Also it's probably obvious that this is going to be a rather wordy and nerdy wall of text, so it's all going under a Read More line.

High Concept: Beastmaster as a Pet-Oriented Tank Job

Considering Beastmaster has always been about the taming and control of monsters, the idea of having some manner of beast involved was basically assumed. The big question was how to implement it, and have it still be functional without overloading a player with things like pet micromanaging like what can occur with the other existing pet classes - Arcanist and its accompanying jobs of Summoner and Scholar.

Having to move and order a pet around from a caster position is troublesome enough. It'd be even more troublesome in a tanking position where you're also having to keep eye on boss moves and your own tanking cooldowns, along with proper boss placement and dealing with the much more frequent melee-range AoEs and cleaves. Not to mention that pet AI can be a bit wonky and that could prove problematic for consistency (and overall fun) as a tank.

My first approach to this was to have BST's two stances actually be different. The DPS stance would be your standard pet class mode like with ACN and kin where you could micromanage your pet's position and optimize the use of its cooldowns. Meanwhile, the tank stance would actually be more of a vehicle-style approach. The BST would actually mount their pet and gain access to a whole new move-set specifically for tanking and gain an HP pool that would effectively be a combination of the BST and the pet's HP with any incoming damage split between them.

Which was a fun idea to an extent, and could still theoretically be manageable, but seemed to have various complications that would need to be addressed. Vehicles tend to not allow a lot of external actions that could prove necessary: such the use of items (healing and stat-boosting potions) and most of your other actions (such as Sprint or Role Actions) that might need to be "re-included" on the list of vehicle actions to allow their use. In addition, I was uncertain how a mounted BST would interact with any additional actions that may be included during a fight (such as the QTEs like escaping the chains in the Shinryu phase transition or Cid's device in the first Omega fight). Not to mention tracking the vehicle move cooldowns and syncing them with those outside the vehicle mode to ensure a tank couldn't just instantly refresh them by dismounting and immediately mounting again.

So, the goal became trying to have a pet-oriented tank job that reduced the issues of pet AI and micromanaging as much as possible. And, oddly enough, the solutions to both also came from the existing pet-oriented jobs - specifically Demi-Bahamut and the SMN's interactions with it. Which I'll go into more detail as I explain the mechanics, as I envision them, of the Job itself.

General Information

Job Role: Tank Primary Stat: Vitality Weapon: Whip Job Gauge: Trainer Gauge The Trainer Gauge displays the amount of Bond a Beastmaster shares with their Interceptor. Bond is accumulated through completion of combo chains and the use of certain abilities. Bond is spent to use certain Interceptor-related actions. Limit Break: Dogs of War With a whistle from the Beastmaster, a pack of wolves appears to intercept and absorb incoming damage for the entire party.

Beastmaster Pet - "Interceptor"

The Beastmaster's pet is called an Interceptor, an attack dog in a similar vein as the Garlean Canis Pugnax. However, rather than a Pugnax, the Interceptor is the adult version of the war wolf that the Wolf Pup minion text references. A much sleeker, more Doberman-style design to fit with the reference to Shadow's dog of the same name in Final Fantasy VI.

This will detract from the "capture whatever creature you want" style of Beastmaster play from Final Fantasy XI, which would be better suited for a Limited Job design like BLU. In standardizing the pet of the BST, this hopefully allows for less work needed to determine what beasts can and cannot be tamed, storing the data on which beast (or beasts, should multiple be able to be stabled akin to the WoW Hunter) the player has, and other necessary balance and flavor requirements such as creature-unique abilities and stat spreads.

The Interceptor will, however, still have some degree of cosmetic design - either in the form of barding armor and/or other accessories such as a scarf like the Wolf Pup. The appearance of these items are dependent on the whip the Beastmaster has equipped, allowing for some variation in look for the player. Depending on technical feasibility and difficulty, this could also include whole model reskins/replacements for certain weapons (such as a Collector's Edition weapon making the Interceptor look like Angelo from Final Fantasy 8, the Magitek Whip having it look like a Canis Pugnax, or Primal weapons applying their own unique looks and effects onto the Interceptor).

It is summoned through the activation of one of the Orders (as discussed in Combat and Mechanics), and can be dismissed by either turning off the Order or using the "Dismiss" option which will also deactivate all Orders.

Combat and Mechanics

Heel Order and Defend Order Like most tanks, the Beastmaster has two "stances" that dictate whether they are serving as the main tank or an offtank. However, BST differs from the others in that this is accomplished through assigning where the Interceptor goes through the use of two abilities - "Guard Order" and "Assist Order." Activation of these Orders is instantaneous, and switching between one Order to another (or reassigning an Assist Order, as explained below) will result in the Interceptor leaping to the side of its new target.

Guard Order is the main tank stance and, when activated, is indicated by the "Intercepting" buff icon being on the Beastmaster, not unlike PLD's Oaths or WAR's stances. The Interceptor will seek to remain by their BST's side and will perform autoattacks, along with any Interceptor-related actions, from this position. In addition, all attacks and actions made by the Interceptor will be attributed to the BST's enmity meter with regards to determining threat.

Assist Order, however, is more unique in that it isn't a stance set on the Beastmaster but another player. The target of the Assist Order (hereafter referred to as the Assist Target) will be the one to have the Intercepting buff icon on them, and the Interceptor will position itself in the same way as for Guard Order but as if the Assist Target was the Beastmaster. This buff can be removed by the target by right-clicking it like any other buff, which will either (preferably, if possible) reactivate Guard Order or dismiss the Interceptor. This is, of course, in place to prevent trolling with the enmity effects as all attacks and actions made by the interceptor will now apply to the Assist Target's enmity meter.

It should also be noted that a player can only be the target of one Assist Order. This is to hopefully simplify damage mitigation calculations and avoid abuse of the other effect of the Intercepting buff, which will be discussed next. On the downside, this does mean you won't be able to have a full raid of BSTs and have one person (such as one very worried Miqo'te) surrounded by eight dogs.

The Intercepting Buff As mentioned above, one of the effects of having the Intercepting buff is that all attack actions made by the Interceptor will add to the enmity of their target - whether it be the Beastmaster themselves or an Assist Target. However, there are also offensive and defensive buffs that the Beastmaster can utilize that will also affect the subject of the Intercepting buff. For example, the ability "Raise Hackles" will reduce damage taken by 30% for whoever is the target of the Intercepting buff.

In addition, it should be noted that while the Interceptor does have its own health bar and takes the normal reduced damage from AoE abilities that a pet would, it also mitigates a percentage of the damage that the BST or the Assist Target receives by taking it itself. For example, if a Beastmaster in Defend Order would be hit for 100k by a tankbuster move, he instead takes only 80k while the Interceptor takes the remaining 20k. Any other damage reduction abilities, such as Raise Hackles or Rampart, are applied first to the damage before it is divided between the target and the Interceptor.

In order to make this work as smoothly as possible and avoid the issue of healers having to specifically target the Interceptor for healing (which is still a thing the healer will be able to do), the pet also receives a percentage of the healing used on the target of the Intercepting buff. This is in addition to the healing that the target would normally get so, for example, a Paladin under Assist Order who is healed for 40k would still receive that 40k HP back and the Interceptor would be healed a percentage of it as well (8k in this case). This is determined by how much the target is healed, so it would also be affected by self-targeting healing boost abilities such as Convalescence and general heals on one's self like Equilibrium or Clemency.

So, in addition to personally taking less damage, the target of the Intercepting buff would also effectively improve healing potency on the target. A base 20% value for both was used for the purposes of demonstration, but these could be adjusted as needed for balance issues. However, it should also be noted that the buff is removed if the Beastmaster dies, and changes to an irremovable debuff called "Playing Dead" if the Interceptor itself dies while its BST is still alive. A raised Beastmaster would have to re-summon their Interceptor via an Order, and a fallen Interceptor must be revived via the Beastmaster's "Revive Interceptor" ability to change the "Playing Dead" debuff back into the Intercepting buff.

Actions & Traits

All items are not listed in level order, and instead grouped as I felt was best fitting for the flow of each section. Potency and cooldown timers are also not included, nor the Bond gains/costs for the abilities that mention them. The lists are of abilities and a general idea of what they would do rather than assigning concrete numerical values.

Job Actions

Whip Strike - Delivers a basic attack.

Entangle - Delivers a basic attack that binds the target.

Strangle - Silences target.

Calm - Puts target to sleep.

Praise - Boosts Bond by 30. Long cooldown.

Fetch - Orders Interceptor to use Crunch a distant target, leaping to the enemy before returning to Intercepting target.

Round Up - Orders Interceptor to use Crunch on all enemies around Intercepting target.

Foxhunter - Orders Interceptor to use Frenzy on focus of Intercepting target. Long cooldown.

Takedown - Orders Interceptor to use Bite on focus of Intercepting target, afflicting Heavy +40%. Middling cooldown.

Headbutt - Orders Interceptor to stun focus of Intercepting target. Middling cooldown.

Go for the Throat - Orders Interceptor to use Frenzy on target, leaping to the enemy before returning to Intercepting target. Usable only if enemy is below 20% HP.

Howl - Raises attack by 5% for all allies around Intercepting target. Uses Bond. Long cooldown.

Raise Hackles - Raises defense by 20% for target of Intercepting buff for 20s. Uses Bond. Middling cooldown.

Hair of the Dog - Remove a single debuff from target of Intercepting buff. Uses Bond. Long cooldown.

Biscuit - Heals Interceptor HP by a small amount. Middling cooldown.

Revive Interceptor - Revives fallen Interceptor and restore a small amount of HP, changes "Playing Dead" debuff into "Intercepting" buff.

Alpha Wolf - Intercepting target cannot go below 1 HP while Interceptor is still alive. All additional damage is applied to Interceptor at 40% reduction. Extremely long cooldown.

Interceptor Actions

Bite - Delivers a basic attack.

Crunch - Delivers a basic damage attack with high enmity.

Snap - Delivers a basic attack and applies a defense debuff.

Tear - Delivers a basic attack and applies a damage over time bleed effect.

Frenzy - Delivers a heavy attack.

Traits

Enhanced Vitality - Increases Vitality by 8.

Enhanced Vitality II - Increases Vitality by 16.

Enhanced Vitality III - Increases Vitality by 24.

Pack Mentality - Allows for Bond accumulation upon landing of certain actions.

Man's Best Friend - Increases Bond gained from certain actions. Increases Praise to 50 Bond.

Afterword

This was honestly a fun thing to put together. Trying to get Beastmaster to work as a pet-focused tank class was a bit of a head-scratcher at first. Wanted to reduce a lot of the extra work involved from both handling a pet and dealing with tank mechanics. So when I realized I could apply the concept from Demi-Bahamut, it all kind of... started to come together.

A lot of things changed in the process, though. As mentioned before, one of the initial ideas was trying to have it work as a vehicle class instead for the tank stance. And even in this iteration, I made some adjustments while putting this all together. For example, I originally had the pet be a permanent fixture rather than something you could summon and dismiss. And other things just popped out at me as I wrote it - like how to handle being able to put Intercepting on other people, and handling death for both BST and the Interceptor.

Granted, a lot of the stuff from here is adapted from a lot of other existing ideas. The job gauge is a mishmash of other gauges, combo chain is vaguely based off Ninja's one-two-branching three setup, Raise Hackles is basically targeted Rampart, and there's a lot of basic filler moves like "ranged aggro attack", "AoE aggro attack", and generic stun and silences. Even Alpha Wolf is can be vaguely compared to Holmgang if you really wanted it to.

... Not to mention a couple of the moves were inspired by FFV's Ranger rather than Beastmaster.

Still, I hope I managed to put enough unique spin and flavor into the idea that someone finds it all at least interesting. And I really enjoyed coming up with various aspects of the job - such as the idea of the Interceptor's look changing with your weapon, and what I like to think is still a pretty unique "panic button" ability in Alpha Wolf. It's a panic button you can use on your main tank while offtanking!

There's still plenty that could be done, though. I don't know if I made enough abilities to match with the other tanks, and things like potency and cooldown timer lengths would definitely need to be considered. Plus, I'm still on the fence on whether or not Guard Order should decrease attack and increase defense or something.

But overall, I kind of like this idea of a very support-oriented tank who is primarily designed for an offtank role but can still handle itself as main tank when needed.

Well, uh, I have to admit I somehow never even saw your OSAS stuff until you mentioned it and I looked through the tag?? And I can’t really get what it’s about from just the art but it looks rad and I’m always down for original works (I feel you on drawing shit for your own stuff instead of actually progressing the story) so have at it! Tell me about OSAS, anything from what the world’s like to what the characters like to eat!

ok so the world?? ive mentioned it several times but the worlds called uxordra!!! if u go back and find stuff u MAY find that like. i have called it uxodra or uxorda and honestly?? im not sure which one was right so i mashed the two together called it uxordra and called it a day

its ruled by kingdoms bc its. kinda like every other fantasy world like that. note that i started working on osas when i was like. in 6th grade so u have to rly bare with me here bc all the ocs have those 6th grade oc Tragic Backstories or are ocs from a fandom that ive reworked to put them in here. and also if u look closely u would be able to pick out the inspo for some parts of osas.

ALGJAD but yeah its separated into kingdoms!! surprisingly, there isnt a lot of conflict between the kingdoms in the story. surprisingly bc like. thats the plot for several fantasy stories huh. but thats mainly bc 6th grade me didnt even think abt making a fuckin map of uxordra. like ok i get it. but why. 6th grade me i couldve evolved the story so much if only i had a map but instead i didnt and now the story that i came up w rly only mentions only a few different kingdoms and im too invested w it so im too lazy to change it and figure out how to change it. and also they have like. no names

and for that im serious i mean. the kingdom that osas is mainly set in? thats like. the only one named so far. its called valkarie and yes its like valkyrie but just iwth an a instead of a y. see its bc one day 7th grade me realized that i needed a name and came up with one on the spot. but ive been thinking of it and refering to it as valkarie so much that now thats what its called. its a big oof. its arguably one of the biggest kingdoms next to this other one that i dont have a name for??

five out of the main group was born in valkarie!! while iovita ( hes the one w curly hair thats mainly sketched in green) was born in that other big kingdom!! that other kingdom (which is REALLY need a name for considering its the origin place of one of the MAIN CHARACTERS) is like. ok so valkarie is rly just. powerful as a kingdom. but that other kingdom?? theyre just funky! theyre a big trading hub and outsource of crops and everyone thinks theyre cool.

valkarie is. kinda mess. as ive mentioned before yeah no one rly likes them but?? theyre powerful?? they have a big military and iovita comes over here and immediately hisses thru his teeth bc man this is. hm. this seems Excessive. but in their semi defense there was already a good amount of guards and knights and shit but then this whole entire thing happened in ruresi and now all them from there moved to the capitol and its just agakdagjajd Too Many Guards! but yeah like. they also are kinda hggjghjdjg-ing bc there was this whole entire thing called the idarist war which will eventually be elaborated in osas once i actually WORK ON IT!!!!!!!!!! and like it rly just depleted a lot of resources and threw people out of wack

oh my god and i like. just realized i forgot to put this here. but like. theres also gods!!! whenever theres a character in the osas tag that doesnt look human?? tahts a god!!! they just kinda exist and give people things and sometimes start droughts like a fuckin idiot!!!!!!!!! aglajdajg ill probably explain them more in osas. again if i actually WORK ON IT!!!!!!

but yeah. the kingdoms are rather peaceful when it comes to each other. the real conflict most of the time is within the kingdoms themselves?? and at the start of osas its not even that full of conflict. the real peak of hardship was like 80 years ago during the idarist war but most (i say most bc. ruresi.) of valkarie has recovered or at least. recovered as much as they could.

and uhhh what the characters like to eat??

bodil (the ginger one with the teal-ish coat!!) likes salty things!! admittedly its bc her diet kinda. Sucks??? she lives off of preserved things and things merope serves (which is all bar food so. lots of salt.) she also likes milk. she is a simple lesbian she sees milk she drinks

merope (the one w an eyepatch and vitiligo and also sharp chompers………..) really likes stew!!! his aunt used to make it a lot when he was younger and its been his favorite food since!! he makes so many salty things that at this point hes kinda exhausted

aludra (the one with those red marks and blank eyes?? shes mostly drawn in red) cant eat anymore. shes a ghost. BUT anyways she also likes stew. but she also loves dry food that is rly easy to snack on (like crackers or smn!!) bc she kinda used to like just sit in her room and Brood.

iovita (yeah ive mentioned him already. hes the one in green) likes pies!! he likes fruits and as such was like “holy shit you can bake SO MANY fruits into pies. he really likes everything really?? bc yeah his kingdom is known for their abundance of farmland which means lots of fruits and meat and vegetables and its just. wild. but he really doesnt like sour things. conan eats a lemon in front of him and iovita realizes that Their Gods Will Not Save Them.

alfjadka yeah conan (has the light hair w dark roots, that emo bang, and drawn in grey) likes sour things. or so he says. he really likes sweets actually. especially caramel. his mom used to sneak him candies and its a mixture of just that positive association and also just. sweets good. that just makes him really love candy.

sorin (has the bandage over eye and the burn scars. also a ginger. mostly drawn in a yellow-gold) does really?? have??? a favorite food???or a favorite thing to eat???? he takes what he gets and at the least he knows that bread at the least is semi-reliable. ruresi while it was still up wasnt especially known for their food and it really shows?? well at least, sorin says that but conan has noticed that sorin sometimes stares at cakes for a long time………..

(conan buys every cake he sees sorin staring at then always eat a bit before going “oh wow!! i cant finish this sorin u can have it”. sorin is always a bit skeptical abt actually getting it and every other bite asks if conan is Really Sure He Can Have All This. but he eat its every time.)
