Zombie Bunny and Strange Meow: Part One
We continue our Halloween week with the world's cutest little haunts! Junbaobao and Hanbao are here to make your Halloween sweet, not scary!
The second I saw this costume set listed I knew I had to have it. I love holiday themed things, they're so fun. Growing up, my mom had a hutch display that she would decorate for each holiday, with her little dolls and teddy bears all dressed up. I always thought as an adult I would have a holiday hutch too, not realizing now much work it is to festively think out and arrange an area every year. Sadly, it never happened. But now, I am certainly accruing enough bao outfits to easily do so!
Unfortunately, because of the tremendous detail and excessive cuteness of this set, the 30-photo limit per post is not allowing me to do both costumes together. Not in the level of detail I want to, anyway. So today is Part One, Zombie Bunny. Come back tomorrow for Part Two, Strange Meow!
Here is the costume set listing that I fell in love with:
Tumblr media
Adorable even on these random dolls! I could only imagine how cute they would look on the baos. The name of the listing only solidified it - Zombie Bunny and Strange Meow. Any cat themed outfit could be only be destined for a Hanbao! Junbaobao is cute enough to be anything, he can certainly be a bunny zombie!
I bought this set back in May, thinking I was leaving ample time for it to arrive in time for Halloween, but I will tell you it just arrived at home here in mid-October. Not much time to spare! I'm really happy it got here in time, because it is SO CUTE.
The two outfits were sold separately. Each one had so many pieces they came in two separate bags!
We're going to start with my Junbaobao due to my total obsession with this doll and his zombie bunny costume. Technically, this costume is not a zombie but a jiangshi, an undead hopping vampire. So, the bunny aspect is quite apropos!
Tumblr media
Here's the front of the full 6-piece set. I actually saved the earring for Hanbao, because we all know who wears earrings around here, and it's not Junjun.
Tumblr media
And here's the back! The detail on all of this is just lovely, I can't wait for you to see the closeups.
Tumblr media
Awww our little man, looking ADORABLE. The little jingle bell bows on his pants came pre-tied, thankfully. Oops, I see i didn't arrange one of the bows correctly so it laid flat. It does, you'll see it later.
Tumblr media
I took a side shot here so you could see the slashed color inset - such a nice touch! The material is indeed pearly and shimmery.
Tumblr media
And the back. I'm always a bit worried about clothes fitting over the chonky bao proportions, but the pants went on just fine.
Tumblr media
Here we have him with the little shoes - I love the gold ginkgo ornaments!
Tumblr media
Ah you can really see the golden opalescence in the pants fabric here.
Tumblr media
Here he is with the bunny top. So cute! As you can see, he's showing off a sliver of tummy here. You can also see I finally smoothed the other bow down, but I forgot to smooth down the ginkgo ornaments!
Tumblr media
It was a little bit of a squeeze, but I got him into the top!
Tumblr media
Now we have the collar. the purple ribbons there are wired, so you can move them around as you see fit. So I'm going to point out here that the actual look for this outfit, as shown in the sales pic, is for the collar to be turned the other way around, which shows off the zombie bunny patch, and allows for the purple ribbons to wrap around his arms (and so the puff is his bunny tail!). I actually really like it this way because I like the ribbons doing fun things like this, but, it's the wrong way, so back it goes.
Tumblr media
He's so cute, I can't even stand it.
Tumblr media
And the little cottontail! It is indeed very cute like this.
Tumblr media
And here is the whole costume (minus the earring)! I love it.
Tumblr media
Here's a shot of the clasp - you just slide the flower circle sideways into the clasp opening, and then turn it flat again to close it. It's beautiful, and you can see some of the nice embroidery here. The brocade is stiffened, so you have a nice shape to the collar.
Tumblr media
Here's a close up shot of the bunny patch on his little jacket and the pretty ornament on his necklace. As an extra bonus, you get a little peek of bao belly! MAY I also say it's an entirely cute zoom in of Junbaobao's perfect, perfect face. Gong Jun the person is gorgeous, but his bao counterpart isn't any less so!
Tumblr media
Oops, I could have pulled his hat down a little in back. It fits very nicely, actually.
Alright! Time for some fig-style 360-degree shots of the cutest bunny zombie ever!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
How is he so cute I don't even know. I love him so much!
Read on for Part 2, Strange Meow, and some shots of the two cuties together!

Oh, the joy of unexpected costume parties. Putting together a good costume could be a painstaking process for those that want to do it right, and apparently that process was not something that Mark Lee understood. Not that this was a spectacular revelation or anything, considering how last year he had shown up to his own party in an old red t-shirt with a bunch of lines sharpied on to vaguely resemble Spiderman’s suit. It had even been voted worse than Lucas’ costume, and he had shown up shirtless with what appeared to be an old bath towel chopped up and strung around his neck in a poor attempt at something along the lines of a neck ruff, and had the audacity to call himself a vampire. Not that most people stopped to question it, the sight of his bare chest was enough to make the majority of people who saw him drool. Unfortunately, you were one of the few that were focused enough on the costume contest (and winning it) to be offended by his lack of effort.
Though your costumes were known to be tedious but rewarding projects, often including quite a bit of planning and sewing, they were also known to be hastily finished at about five in the afternoon on October thirty-first. As a result, you had absolutely nothing to wear to Mark’s seemingly impromptu week-before-Halloween party. (Knowing Mark, it was also more than likely that he had forgotten to invite you until the last moment.) Which was an issue, because now you had nothing to wear.
With only one day to prepare, you thought you had done pretty well for yourself. Adorned in an ill-fitting brown trench coat you had managed to convince Johnny to let you borrow, a tie you just happened to have sitting around, and a navy blue collared shirt you may or may not have stolen from your roommate, you had managed to put together a somewhat accurate cosplay of the Doctor. You had been forced to make do with an old pair of converse that were so covered in paint it was barely noticeable that they were red and a regular pair of jeans, but overall you were pretty proud of your hastily put together costume.
Unfortunately, no one else was. Or at least no one knew who the Doctor was. You wouldn’t be surprised, Mark’s parties weren’t exactly known for their nerdy clientele. Which was probably why you didn’t particularly enjoy his Halloween parties. In fact, you had just about no idea why you were here tonight, other than it was Mark Lee and he was notoriously hard to say no to. Plus if absolutely no one got your costume, you could always find Johnny.
Johnny was Mark’s roommate, and definitely the more tolerable of the pair. You loved Mark, but hanging around him could get tiring after a while. Johnny was definitely quite the sociable person, and he could blend into any crowd which worked well for you. He was easy to talk to, and you shared some interests so there was always material for conversation, but he also never expected much out of you. You could sit in silence and be perfectly comfortable.
And, as it seemed no one that you had run into yet shared your love of sci fi, you had made your way outside to try and find Johnny. He wasn’t hard to locate, there was a fire going in the firepit in their pitiful excuse for a front yard, and as you had seen Mark attempting to start some vaguely halloween themed games surrounded by several of his slightly tipsy friends inside, Johnny was probably making sure no one caught themselves on fire.
Just as you predicted, there he was, his large figure easily spotted as you left the house, dodging around a couple of girls hanging out on the porch steps. Johnny was perched on the brick wall that ran down the street separating the sidewalk from the yards, the charred stick he always liked to use to poke things around when he was in charge of the fire next to him. The section of the grass beyond the sidewalk was unusually large, which had always made you wonder why the wall was there at all, as the yard could have just been sloped downwards, but it let them put the firepit out there so you let it slide.
“Hey John,” you greet, sitting down next to him and kicking your legs in front of you. Jaehyun stands in front of the fire to your left, a pair of cat ears perched on his head, and you offer him a small smile before looking back to Johnny.
He looks your outfit over, raising his eyebrows at the red and blue 3D glasses perched on your head. “Who are you dressed as again?”
You roll your eyes. “As I told you when I texted you to borrow the coat, I’m the Doctor. David Tennant’s Doctor, specifically.”
“I knew you were the Doctor,” Jaehyun pipes up. “The glasses add a nice touch.”
“Thank you Jae,” you say, elbowing Johnny. “See? I’m not totally unrecognizable.”
“Yeah, well, he’s a nerd too,” you roll your eyes again, and bump your shoulder against Johnny’s.
“Hey!” Jaehyun protests.
“Oh, don’t deny it.” You smirk before adding, “Nice ears by the way.”
Even in the fading light, you can see that Jaehyun’s ears (the non-cat ears anyway) flamed red, and he stuttered out something about how they were his sister’s and he didn’t have anything else. Seeing that you were still snickering at him, he rolled his eyes. “I’m heading inside. See you later.”
You and Johnny chorus your goodbyes, attention turning back to each other. He wasn’t wearing anything remarkable, which was odd because Mark had made it clear that a costume was required. “What are you supposed to be?” you question.
“I’m the tall dark handsome stranger your parents warned you about.” His eyes crinkle up into a smile as you snort and burst out laughing.
“You’re ridiculous is what you are.”
“It works on most people.”
You elbow him again. “Unfortunately for you, I’m not most people.”
The temperature had begun dropping for the night, and the wind had begun to pick up again. You shiver as the chill starts to seep into your bones, tugging your coat tighter around your body and laying your head on Johnny’s shoulder, hoping to absorb a bit of warmth from him.
Johnny stiffens just the tiniest bit, so little that you don’t even notice. He can’t quite think to realise you might find that reaction a bit odd, not with the way that you have your head laid up against him, and how if you were to lean up just a smidge you could easily press a sweet kiss against his throat. And, oh, how he wishes you would. But he knows that to you, he’s just John. You know him through a mutual friend, and you’ve never hung out with him outside the times you drift to the edge of your friend group, feeling as though they’re too noisy for you.
Maybe it’s just the wistfulness that comes with October nights, the feeling that summer has really truly faded away for the colder months to take their hold, but tonight Johnny can feel those little pricks of pain that loving someone who barely looks in your direction causes a bit more than usual. Sure, maybe he is the one that you’re all cuddled up against, and perhaps his mind is just playing cruel tricks, but he could swear he catches your eyes repeatedly flicking over towards one of the several people crowded on the porch. You had been talking to one of the girls standing there inside earlier, and even though Johnny has always known that he would never be yours, it still hurts to consider you having eyes for someone else.
He had come to terms with his one sided love a while ago, but for some reason tonight everything that he had been trying his best to keep down was hitting a lot harder than usual. Perhaps it was something about Halloween, after all Johnny knew it was your favorite holiday. Yes, that was probably it.
“John?” your voice interrupts his thoughts and he looks down at you, head still resting on his shoulder, wrapped up in his coat. “What’re you thinking about? You spaced out for a second there.”
Johnny huffs out a little laugh, staring across the street to watch the leaves tumble down from his neighbor’s tree, the streetlamp four houses down illuminating them in an eerie but strangely comforting way.
“Oh, nothing….” he says, just a little hint of the longing that filled his heart bleeding through to his words.

thirty days of development: ivy
Everybody needs a little poison ivy
+ Day One: Introduce your muse. Are they solo or in a group? What is their position in the group? Consider this day the day for writing the basics.
Kang Yumi is a vocal and dance soloist with Dimensions. Both her persona and real life personality are reserved, but that is where the similarities end. Yumi is kind and warmhearted. She is also demisexual, so any sexual encounters are only after she has developed an emotional connection. Ivy, however, is bolder. She is sexy, cold, and cool. People see her as something untouchable, even though that is far from the truth.
+ Day Two: Talk about your muse’s childhood. Where did they grow up? Did they have any dream jobs besides being an idol? When did they realize they wanted to be an idol?
Yumi was raised on a rice farm in Pocheon, South Korea. She has very humble origins and has never lost sight of where she came from. As a kid, all she wanted was to be a professional ballerina. Really, to this day, she would be perfectly happy being one. She really only became an idol because it was an opportunity to dance and to make money for her impoverished family. However, she loves it now. Really, it was the best accident ever.
+ Day Three: Take us back to when your muse was either recruited or auditioned to become an idol. How did that go? How did they feel getting up on stage for recruiters? If your muse could give their younger selves advice before the audition, what would they say?
Yumi was recruited when she was fifteen years old. She was doing a performance with her ballet class in her hometown and there happened to be a scout for Dimensions in the audience. Really, that was about as much of an audition as they needed. She was a very skilled dancer and also, in all honesty, she partially got recruited because she was just that pretty. Yumi would probably go back and tell her younger self that it would be okay, that all those hard times were worth it. Also, that being in love really sucked.
+ Day Four: Remember the trainee days? What are some of your muse’s memories of being a trainee? How long were they a trainee? Were they worried about potentially not making a debut? Talk about any challenges they might have encountered.
Being a trainee was a complicated time for Yumi. She was living in a big city for the first time in her life, away from her immediate family. Yumi was mostly very focused during her time as a trainee. If she wasn’t dancing or singing, she was doing homework. Her parents gave her aunt strict orders to make sure Yumi focused on her work because there was definitely a chance this would not work out. She hung out with a lot of the fellow dance obsessed people because they respected her dedication, but there was a lot of jealousy. Yumi was worried about not making a debut because that would have meant she wasted a few years she could have been auditioning for dance schools. She would have still been happy doing ballet. The biggest challenge for her was practicing her vocals because she had absolutely no vocal training beforehand. It was honestly much more difficult than learning all the different dance styles, which was a lot more natural for her.
+ Day Five: Recall your muse’s debut. What was the song they debuted with? How did it feel performing for the first time on stage as an idol? Feel free to bring up their thoughts about the concept, choreography, lyrics, music video, or other components.
This is a bit of a complicated question because Yumi technically debuted twice. Her first debut was with Nebula (which has no official discography, though I picture it kind of Chocolat because underappreciated beans who had good intentions, even if it did not pan out well, and they deserve the love; my headcanon is they first performed Syndrome probably though). Her first time on stage as an idol was with the rest of Nebula. The concept was fine with her. She liked the music and the outfits, though they were not exactly teeming with star power. Her second debut was different because yes, Nebula had some sexier comebacks, but as Ivy, she was full on sexy. The dancing was hella sensual. She appreciated the fluidity with which she had to perform though. Honestly, she preferred her second debut. At least no one was trying to trip her during Irreversible.
+ Day Six: What concept does your muse think they can pull off best? Cutesy? Manly? Sexy? What concept do they have a hard time pulling off? What kind of concept would they want to do at some point?
After having the same concept for a decade, Yumi does not have any complaints. Reserved and sexy is fine with her, though she is sometimes amused when people realize she is asexual. For Yumi, it is a part of her image as Ivy to be sensual. She doesn’t feel one way or another. Quite honestly, a cutesy concept would be very hard for her at this point. She is not very outgoing in that way and way too shy.
+ Day Seven: Which era is your muse’s favorite in their career? Why is it their favorite (think concept, promotions, choreography, etc.)? If your muse has recently debuted, talk about what they would want to do for their next comeback.
If we are discussing the classics, Yumi really liked the Full Moon era. She has never quite captured that otherworldly vampireness again. It was quirky and different; she liked it. Also the costuming was gorgeous for it. She is proud that a lot of people still consider it a bop. Of course, she has a soft spot for Gashina. The song was catchy and she appreciated the artistic approach they took. The choreography was a lot more fluid than she got to do in a while, so she has no complaints. Honestly, if she could incorporate ballet in a music video, she would be golden.
+ Day Eight: Talk about your muse’s strengths and weaknesses as an idol. Feel free to discuss their own personal thoughts regarding these components. Think of qualities such as vocals, dancing, visuals, acting skills, and variety show skills, for example.
Yumi is a decent actress. She has these moments of earnestness on screen that really make her shine. However, she doesn’t have the widest range. She can play bitchy characters or shy girls. That is about it. But, she is good at it and brings a maturity to certain roles. Her dancing and vocals are both very prominent, though she was a bit rougher on the latter earlier in her career. She will never be a rapper, though. Her variety skills are also non-existent unless it is based on performing (like King of Masked Singer). She is friendly, but just not the most compelling to watch joke around with the hosts.
+ Day Nine: What is your muse’s fashion style? Talk about what kind of clothes they love to wear. To them, what is the essential thing to have in their closet? What is their favorite outfit?
Yumi was very confused about clothing when she moved to Seoul because yes, she had opinions, but it did not matter that she had opinions. She had to wear whatever her older sisters no longer fit into. Her preference is flowing dresses and wide brimmed hats. She likes summer best, especially now that she is not working in fields. She is also down to wear some plaid button downs and jeans if she has to do labor (but, she never really has to do that unless she decided to help her family when she goes back home because she is not a lazy bum). However, people very much want to put her in little black dresses or sparkles. She doesn’t mind. In the winter, she likes heavy wool coats because she gets cold very easily.
+ Day Ten: Talk about your muse’s three closest friends. How did they meet? How long have they known each other? What do they love most about their friends?
Yumi is friends with a lot of people younger than her because they just gravitate towards this very friendly noona/unnie who is willing to help them navigate the entertainment industry. She usually meets them while acting or backstage at variety shows. She even makes it a policy to get to know her backup dancers and the trainees that dance with her. They are usually a bit excitable, but she thinks it is cute. She is also friends with people her age in the industry because old people need to stick together. Yumi is still close with her sisters as well, calling them whenever she has a chance. There are six of them though, so it is a bit hard to coordinate a group phone call. Usually, she has to go one by one.
+ Day Eleven: Has your muse had any scandals? How have these scandals affected your muse as an idol or as a person? If your muse has not had any scandals, talk about their views on scandals. Is all publicity good publicity?
Despite her image, Yumi has not had any public scandals. However, she got dangerously close when she became engaged. Off-screen, it was the first time she had ever given the company any sort of trouble. Sure, she was off a reasonable enough age to get married but her doing so would have killed the fantasy for many people. So, she would have likely have to leave Dimensions at the very least and rebrand with a new concept, unless she was willing to question the sexism within the industry. She doesn’t really hold people’s scandals against them unless they are less “I smoked drugs once” and more “Burning Sun”. For her, it is all about the product/effort you put into your work. If you are good at your job, why should your personal life be a big deal?
+ Day Twelve: If your muse is in a group, what are the fun things about promoting with other members? What do they love about being in a group? What do they love about their members? If your muse is a solo artist, what are their thoughts on promoting alone? What do they love about being solo?
Promoting with the other members of Nebula was never fun, especially since Yumi was always comparing herself to the others. She did not feel as talented as some of them at times, though, her hard work changed that. There is not a single member she looks back at fondly. Promoting was a nightmare and Yumi mostly just read books while they traveled. Or, she watched dance practice videos so she could incorporate her observations while practicing alone later. She does not mind promoting alone because she is such a reserved person. She wouldn’t mind spreading the attention on the actual stage, but she is so used to it at this point, she does not mind. Plus, it is admittedly nice to have no one impeding her spark.
+ Day Thirteen: For the muses in a group, what are the challenges of being one of several people in a group? Have there been any troubles that have come along with being in a group environment and times they wish they were alone? For the solo artist muses, have you ever felt lonely promoting alone? Do you ever wish that you were in a group instead?
Yumi sometimes wonders if she just got unlucky with Nebula because plenty of other groups are out there actually practicing camaraderie and supporting each other through all their comebacks. She really wishes she could have had that experience, especially when she has to lie in front of the camera about her time in Nebula. Honestly, everyone probably knows things were not good between her and the rest of the girls, but Yumi is not going to be the one to bring it to light. It was over a decade ago; it is time to move on. She likes being a solo artist just because it gives her a bit more versatility. They can play a bit with her comebacks and don’t have to coordinate with anyone else. She might get a little lonely promoting alone, but she has a real good crew to keep her company at least.
+ Day Fourteen: If your muse is in a group, how do you think they would have fared had they had a solo career instead? What kind of concept would they have? If your muse is a solo artist, how do you think they would have fared if they were in an idol group? What position of the group do you think they would have?
Yumi has been a part of both so far. Had she been a part of a nicer group, she might not have strove to be as strong vocally (dancing was always going to be her main goal), but she would have probably been better adjusted for most of her life. If some type of  Unnies-esque group would form she would be down. She would have preferred a main dancer position in Nebula, but she was young and still had to learn. As a soloist, she doesn’t mind her concept, would probably not be against something more artsy.
+ Day Fifteen: Who does your muse look up to in the industry? Why do they look up to this person?
At this point in life, Ivy is the one you look up to in the industry; there aren’t many people older than her within it. Though she has remained with Dimensions for years, she really does not think much of her C.E.O. (she has been a part of the Dimensions system; she watched a lot of people crumble under it, though she herself was never really a victim). She usually avoids his nephew as well because lord knows she will not be accused of dating the guy she basically works for. No, for her, it is all about Bang Sunyoung. She is an actor, a dancer, and started an entire empire. The two of them are not that far apart in age, so Ivy would kill to collaborate with her, though it would probably never happen. Honestly, had Gold Star Media been more established by the time Nebula had been disbanded and had Dimensions not offered Ivy a solo, there would have been a good chance Ivy would have found herself working for Gold Star.
+ Day Sixteen: If your muse could do a special stage with another artist or idol group, who would it be and why? What song would they perform?
Aside from her majesty Sunyoung, Ivy would enjoy doing a special stage with Lucid. She likes their darker concept more than their bubblier concept, and it would be easy enough to coordinate considering they are within the same company. Besides, she likes supporting her dongsaengs. She wouldn’t mind doing any of those singles since they are in fact very impressive dance numbers as well. But, she could also see them performing Full Moon or some type of mashup.
+ Day Seventeen: How would your muse fare in a variety show? If your muse could appear on any variety show, which variety would it be and why? If you don’t have a lot of knowledge of variety shows, talk about what kind of variety show they would go on.
Watching Yumi on a variety show is an experience, for sure. She is great at performing, but is not the best public speaker. She needs practice and honestly, it is her least favorite part of being an idol. As an actor, she follows the lines religiously. So, she is never great if all that is involved is talking or being generally silly. She is good at variety shows that involve competition and less ad-libbing. Yumi would dominate in King of Mask Singer or Dancing with the Stars. She likely performed when Hit the Stage was on air as well.
+ Day Eighteen: What entertainment agency is your muse a part of? What do they think of other groups and artists that are in the same agency as them? Which labelmates do they get along with the most, excluding group members?
Yumi is a member of Dimensions Entertainment, which has somewhat of a sketchy reputation for how it treats its trainees. She respects the other artists in the agency and likes to look after the younger idols. While she does like all the groups well enough, it is no secret that her favorite group is Lucid. They are newer than a lot of groups within the industry. Plus, she also respects that they are taking risks with their music and the complex choreography. If any of them asked to perform with her or to have them take her under their wing, she would do it in a heartbeat.
+ Day Nineteen: Is there anything besides idol activities that your muse would want to do? Would they want to take their hand at hosting a variety show or act in a television show or drama? Would they want to try out modeling or a musical? If they have done things such as these, talk about their thoughts toward these things.
Yumi became an actor out of convenience. She wanted to make sure she stayed in the spotlight long enough to make it to her next comeback. Really, if there was an idol option of doing ballet, she might have considered that. The only reason she did not do modeling was because she was sure she would have definitely been bored doing; also, she does not like using only her looks for anything. Her first role at least had a decent amount of dancing and using her skills as a vocalist. Really, that was probably why she got the role despite her lack of acting experience.  Since then, she has gotten better and is coveted for more mature roles. The genre does not always matter, as people just like that she is willing to step outside the box and challenge patriarchal norms.
+ Day Twenty: If your muse was able to be a part of a supergroup that comprised of current idols, who would they want to be in the same group and why? What kind of concept would this group have? How do you think the group would do in terms of popularity?
It might be interesting to do a supergroup full of other members of Dimensions Entertainment. She is fine with a co-ed one, but an all-girl group could definitely be empowering. The concept would be something dance based (because of course it is) and fun. Maybe a little edgy or experimental. They would probably not do many comebacks, but it could be interesting to keep the fans interested during breaks. Some group members would be more popular than others, but Ivy would look after everyone.
+ Day Twenty-One: How does your muse feel about their fans? How do they feel about sasaeng fans? How would they handle a situation in which they were faced with obsessive fans that followed them or invaded their privacy? If they’ve had problems with sasaeng fans before, how did they feel about it?
Yumi likes inspiring people, particularly women. Really, at the end of the day, isn’t that what part of her image is about? Much more than a sexy icon? However, she doesn’t really mind people being attracted to her. So, she is always probably kindest to her fans. However, she does not handle saesangs well. Yumi will not let anyone invade her privacy or her personal space.  She would probably deal with it in a mature manner, such as reporting it to Dimensions or the police. Maybe hire some protection if she was feeling physically endangered. However, she can certainly take care of herself if in imediate danger, she just would not want to do any damage to her reputation or her image. She has not really had any problems with saesangs so far, thankfully, but she has a feeling that is mostly because the company is good at handling it.
+ Day Twenty-Two: Talk about your muse’s goals that they have for their group or themselves if they are a solo artist. Where would they want to promote if given the chance? Do they want to do a solo album at one point? This can be any sort of professional goal.
Yumi would like to earn a Nation’s Title one day because that would be a sign that she most definitely made it. Of course, she would prefer if it was something based on her talents and not because she is super sexy. But, beggars can’t be choosers. She would like to promote in Latin America as Gashina had very heavy Latin vibes. She thinks she could do well there and the different cultures sound interesting.
+ Day Twenty-Three: What is your muse’s thoughts on being an idol and dating? Are they against dating? Have they ever been in a relationship after debuting? If so, talk about the challenges that have come along with dating. If they aren’t dating, would they want to date?
So, because Yumi is demisexual and a workaholic, dating has never been high on her list of priorities. She never dated as a trainee the only dated very sporadically as an idol. To her, hiding relationships is just part of the job. They all know what they are getting into and need to be careful to follow those rules. Of course, she was engaged so she was fully prepared to accept those consequences. It does hurt her that sometimes, difficult decisions must be made. She is not currently seeing anyone seriously, as it never ends well. But, that is also the only type of relationship she likes.
+ Day Twenty-Four: Who is your muse’s ideal type? Why is this person their ideal type?
Yumi’s real ideal type is just someone motivated and kind to her. Her dad was incredibly respectful to her mother, so she could never be with someone who did not treat her as an equal partner. Younger or older, she is not particular, but she does consider herself an old soul, so that constantly gets in the way. In terms of attractiveness, she tends to focus less on physical appearance and more on the emotional connection
+ Day Twenty-Five: What does your muse want to be remembered for in the idol world? Do they want to be remembered for their vocal prowess? Their image? Their dancing skills? Their scandals?
Yumi is proud of how she has improved in her vocal skills over the years. She is good and she knows it. She earned it. However, if she were to pick one thing to be praised for it would be her dancing ability. She has worked her entire life to become the best dancer she can and has sacrificed a lot to do so. Looking back, she has spent the past twenty-something years dancing. It shows and she wants to be recognized for it. If she is also praised for her female empowerment that would be the icing on the cake. She definitely does not want to be known as someone with a lot of scandals. That would hurt her deeply, because she worked so hard to remain in line and to dedicate herself to her craft.
+ Day Twenty-Six: Does your muse ever regret becoming an idol? Do they ever think about what they would be doing instead if they lived a normal life? If they could go back in time, would they do everything all over again? Or would they end up doing something else?
Ultimately, Yumi does not regret being an idol. In her mid twenties, she did wonder if she should have stayed the course and become a professional ballerina. It would probably not have involved as much financial security and would have not given her as much mainstream attention, but it was her dream for so long. Now, she likes how her career turned out. For her, there has never been anything more important than dancing, so if she can continue to keep that up, she is fine with whatever career she has. When she was engaged, she did contemplate if she could ever live a normal life. She does want to get married and raise some children (even if say, she married a woman and had to fly to Taiwan to do so). But, she wants to keep working amid it all. Ultimately, she does not regret the decision she made to become Ivy.
+ Day Twenty-Seven: After working hard on promotions, your muse is given the chance to take a two week vacation anywhere in the world at any time they want, with nobody bothering them. Where would they go and when? Why would they want to take their vacation there? If they had the opportunity to bring three other people, who would they bring?
Yumi is not a very difficult person to please. She honestly does not know what to do with her time off, so she usually takes on an acting gig or a commercial or something, just so she can keep working. If she had forced time off, Yumi would go back to the farm to hang around with her parents and her siblings in the area. Some of them have children and she would love to hang out with her niblings. They seem to be the only people who know how to force her to stop for a moment and enjoy herself. She would probably end up helping in the fields anyways though. It would be considered a compromise. As for who she would bring, it would have to be a romantic partner or very close friends, because otherwise she would rather go solo.
+ Day Twenty-Eight: Talk about your muse’s low point in life. Why was this a low point in their life? What kind of challenges did they face and how did they feel about this? Were they able to overcome it? If it is still ongoing, are they working on overcoming these challenges?
The lowest point in Yumi’s life was when her engagement was broken off. It is funny, she never thought she would feel worse than she did when the girls of Nebula bullied her, but that moment surpassed it easily. She had trusted someone so deeply and had every intention of potentially giving up the career she worked so hard for in the name of love. And they did not care. They broke her heart and left her shattered to pieces on the ground. Had she not been reawakened by Gashina, she is not sure she would have ever recovered. Still, she definitely has a whole different set of issues with intimacy now, particularly romantic intimacy.
+ Day Twenty-Nine: Talk about your muse’s most meaningful moment as an idol. This is what they feel so far is the highest point in their life and where they’ve never been happier. Recall the memory and describe it; what happened and how did they feel?
Yumi’s most meaningful moment as an idol probably when she released her solo debut. It was incredibly meaningful for her that someone had recognized how hard she had worked and how much she had to offer. Really, that is probably one of the reasons she has stuck with Dimensions for so long, despite their questionable reputation. After all, they gave her the gift of a career. They gave her a shot and they have never abandoned her, even when she was thinking of getting married (though they certainly asked her often enough if she was sure about the whole thing). Really, it is something she will never forget.
+ Day Thirty: Think about your muse’s life down the road. Where would they be and what would they be doing? Would they still be in the entertainment industry? Would they settle down and have a family?
In like another twenty years, Yumi will definitely still be working in the industry. She will probably be acting as the mother in kdramas or maybe even a grandmother later down the line. She will have a family and probably has cut back hours for the kids. She would not mind working as a mentor for Dimensions or another idol company. If not, she would probably open a dance studio and intensively teach some kids. She knows her life as an idol at that point will probably be over, especially because of her image, but that is fine with her. She just wants to keep doing what she loves in some way. Plus, she is sure she had some good years.

Funko Fun for Lazy People
Hi everybody! Today’s randomly off topic post is about Funko Pops. There’s no real reason for it - I’m just bored and I like Funko Pops.
I’m also really lazy. Like, reeeeeally lazy. I’d love to make custom pops, but, you know, I’m lazy. So that totally prevents me from doing anything remotely crafty, time-consuming and skill-requiring like making customs.
Thankfully, I’m also not at all picky. As long as I look at something and think, “Hey, that could be so-and-so if I squint a little...” I’m good with it. I don’t need exact details or perfect matches, as long as the overall image resonates with me.
So if you’re like me (lazy and not too picky), there’s a lot of fun Pops out there that you can add to your Once Upon a Time Funko Pop collection without needing to customize anything...
For starters, given the nature of Funko Pops and their minimalist design, animated characters and live action characters end up looking the same. That means that any Pops of animated Disney characters can easily work for their live action OUAT counterparts, so long as they wore similar enough costumes at some point. Adding even just these Pops to your Once set will practically double your collection - and without the need for any customizing...
Tumblr media
The Frozen crew: Thanks to Disney insisting that the Frozen characters wore perfect replicas of their iconic movie costumes in Once, the Funko Pops of all three of the main characters from the animated film are basically perfect for their Once versions, as well.
Tumblr media
Jasmine and Aladdin: Once didn’t give them identical costumes to their animated counterparts, but they’re certainly close enough.
Tumblr media
Some Other Folks: There’s a bunch of other animated Pops that can work perfectly for other characters, as well. Merida, Cinderella (S1) and Rapunzel (S7) all have animated pops that could easily work for their OUAT counterparts, who wore costumes close enough to what’s shown here. (It also needs mentioning that Funko did release some Cruella De Vil Pops that would easily work for Once’s Cruella, but they are extremely expensive (as Pops go) and not really recommended, as you might as well buy a custom at that price.)
Unfortunately, not all matches are quite as good. This is really where your own level of pickiness comes into play. Can you handle things being a little (or a lot) off as long as the overall idea fits the Once character? If so, these next ones might make your Once collection even bigger yet...
Tumblr media
Belle in the Iconic Yellow Dress: Technically, you can go with either the animated movie Pop or the live action movie Pop. They’re pretty much equally accurate/wrong in their own ways, so it’s really just a judgement call of which one of them meshes with your own mental image of our Belle in this dress.
Tumblr media
Ariel: Really, none of these fit as well as we’d like. The mermaid Ariel is the closest match, as she DOES appear in the show in the iconic purple bikini top with her fin (albeit a fin that has more blue in it than this one does). However, the mermaid Ariel is very noticeably an older Pop, meaning it’s likely to stand out as “not belonging” in your Once collection. The other two Ariel Pops’ outfits weren’t recreated by the show, though she DOES wear a pink dress in a ballroom scene, even though it’s a much, much paler shade of pink.
Tumblr media
Tiana: Mind you, Tiana hasn’t worn either of these dresses yet, but there’s still half a season to go, and it would be a damn shame if they didn’t recreate her beautiful lily pad dress on the show. Also, with these Pops and Ariel’s, as well, when a character wears enough of a variety of dresses/outfits on the show, it becomes a little less important to perfectly match any one specific outfit. At least, that’s my opinion. For example, a Pop of Mayor Regina could really be wearing any stylish skirt/pant suit and It’d seem “right” to me, regardless of whether it was a specific skirt/pant suit she’d worn on the show. With that in mind, really, Tiana and Ariel could both be suitable.
...and that brings us to the really fun part. Have you ever looked at a Pop and thought, “Ah! They made one of [insert thing here]!” only to find out it was of something else entirely and not that thing you thought it was at all? Well, that happens a lot, and while it’s rare to have one truly work for something other than its intended source, there are some totally unrelated Pops out there that could easily pass for a Once character. Keep in mind, the “fit” will always seem better if you’re not familiar with the intended source character. Your mind will obviously jump to form the intended connection if you’re familiar with who the Pop is meant to be. But if you’re not, then some of these might work for you...
Tumblr media
Battlestar Galactica’s Six as Pilot Episode Emma: Luscious blonde curls, slinky red (okay, it was pink, but a lot of people remember it as red) dress, black heels. This pop could very easily represent Emma from the OUAT pilot.
Tumblr media
Princess Diana (Chase Version) as ‘Princess Leia’ Emma: Dramatic red off-the-shoulder dress, upswept blonde hair, crown. The details are a bit off, and this is a Chase version, which will make it harder and/or more expensive to get... but short of getting a custom, you couldn’t ask for a better match.
Tumblr media
Miss Peregrine’s Jacob Portman as Henry Mills (S7): While Henry’s Enchanted Forest outfit would make a better Pop for most folks, this is undeniably a pretty good match for the casual, laid-back style Henry exhibits in Hyperion Heights, as well as a nice call back to the button-down shirts and jackets young Henry was often seen wearing in the first 6 seasons of the show. Incidentally, this Pop could also work for a clean-shaven Colin O’Donoghue - complete with brown shoes, blue jeans, button down shirt... and grand-dad sweater ;) Your call, really!
Tumblr media
Parks & Recreation’s April Ludgate as Ivy Belfry: Yes, the outfit isn’t one Ivy’s actually worn, but Ivy’s consistently in short skirts and trendy separates, so the outfit looks like something she would wear - and the hair and coffee are on point. It feels like a good fit to me, at least ;)
Tumblr media
Tim Burton’s Alice as Robin Mills & Alice Jones: Both of the Pops above are intended to be of Alice herself, from Tim Burton’s Through the Looking Glass and Alice in Wonderland, but the clothing and hair styles just speak to me of being perfect for OUAT’s Robin and Alice. We haven’t really seen enough of Robin to fully determine her style yet, but this pop seems fitting. And while Alice’s outfit doesn’t match anything she’s worn yet, it feels like a great mix of Alice Jones’ eclectic personal style melded with the iconic blue pinafore of the Wonderland character.
Tumblr media
Elena of Avalor’s Isabel as Lucy Mills: This Pop gives me major vibes of 8-year-old Lucy in the Enchanted Forest. You could even print out a tiny cover of the Once Upon a Time storybook and glue it on the book/box she’s holding.
Tumblr media
Some Disassembly Required: Here we have Ash vs. Evil Dead’s Kelly on the left and Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Giles on the right. However, if you were to remove the objects they’re holding... You could just as easily be looking at Roni and Archie Hopper. In fact, picture that Kelly Pop with a fricking baseball bat. Are you seeing it yet? Are you? Depending on how good you are with an Xacto Knife, you could probably do something with these two... or maybe they just got new weapons/hobbies? Whatever works for you.
Well... That’s that. I’m always keeping my eyes open for more, so I might add some later on if they release some more contenders... but for now, this is all I’ve found! Let me know if there’s any you’ve found, too!

Entry 195
“Would you care to join me for some dinner, so we can have something a bit more typical on this date?” asked James shortly after he picked me up.
I smiled and nodded, eager to see what he had in mind.  The day we met, James’ birthday, he had taken me to get new clothes and then out to eat.  Though the dresses weren’t really to my taste, they were pretty.  The meal had shown me far more about him.  Everyone gravitated toward James.  The idea was confirmed even more at his birthday party.  There were so many people, all there to celebrate James’ day.
Working for him over the past month had introduced me to so many new ideas and wonderful people.  First he made my life better than ever with a great many new friends and a place I could truly call home again.  Then he made me a better superhero.  Unlike before, I knew how to really fight now, had my own costume, and even possessed an incredible weapon.  None of this could have happened without James.
I couldn’t feel more fortunate to know him.  He took two weeks to take me on our date, but things were going so well.  We had some entertainment, and now we were going out to eat together like something out of a movie.
“Mila, please drive us to the Intergalactic House of Awesome Sauce.” he instructed.
 “Of course, master.” she replied.
I felt my grin grow wider.  Ever since meeting James, I felt like I was living a dream, at least how people had described them to me.  I knew James wasn’t a secret agent like I originally believed when I met him, but I still felt he had a great many similarities to the ones in movies.  He was charming, skilled in many things, and perfectly brave when needed.  He lived in a world filled with secrets and sought every day to use his craft to improve the lives of others.  He carried no gun, but he was always armed.  His magic could easily act as a more dangerous weapon than any gun if ever he needed one.  Now this man of mystery was taking me to a place said to be mysterious by Jarod, one of the smartest people I knew.
When the restaurant came into view, I felt like jumping out before Mila even stopped the car.  The building looked so unobtrusive with its shiny bricks.  The sign was cheesily made with a smiley face surrounded by a galaxy off to the side of the restaurant’s name.
“You seem rather excited for someone who doesn’t need to eat.” he told me.
I was thankful as ever that Mila was supplying text for me, so I didn’t miss what he said while staring at the building.  “I do still enjoy eating.” I informed him.  “Plus, I’ve heard some pretty crazy things about this restaurant from Jarod.  He told me that the rooms don’t make sense, like there’s some odd magic taking place when you enter.  He also told me that he wouldn’t be surprised if criminals use this place for covert meetings, since overhearing conversations seems virtually impossible.  How could I not be interested?  We might stumble across drug dealers, mafia members, or some other shady types!  I wonder if Maxine ate here while she was in town.  I really wish I had my suit and Midnight, just in case.”
“Jarod does love this place as well, but I can’t say I’ve actually seen any evidence of criminal activity when I’ve been here before.” he insisted.
Unlike most people, James could easily afford to eat here often.  Jarod probably hadn’t eaten here as often, but I knew Jarod did his research.  James, as incredible as he was, did miss things.  I sometimes wondered if he chose to miss things.
My mind went blank as the door opened, revealing a second sun setting over a purple ocean in the most spectacular way.  I felt the gentle warmth of it on my skin as I followed James inside.  As far as I could see was a beach and the ocean, stretching endlessly.  The dark blue sand squished beneath my feet as I stepped on it.  I wondered how all of this could possibly be in a restaurant, especially as I saw a well-dressed man nodding to us.
“Hello again, James.  I’m Abdel, and I’ll be your host again this evening.” he told us.
With James in front of me and facing Abdel, I couldn’t make out what he was saying.  I wouldn’t have realized he was even talking if his head hadn’t been turned as much as it was.
Nodding again, Abdel said, “If you would care to get changed, your assistant, Mila, warned us that you didn’t possess appropriate attire for our current theme, so feel free to get changed in the rooms just over there as I set your table.  The current temperature might distract you from your meal, dressed as you are.”
I jogged over to the out-of-place structure, wondering what would be revealed to me inside.  The doors were marked with the typical male and female symbols found outside of bathrooms, so I had no trouble knowing which to enter.  There was also one with what looked like a showerhead.
At first, I was disappointed.  The room was plain, simply hosting a bench and pole of clothing bags.  I half-expected the room to have some sort of light show or other oddity when I was entering.  I unzipped one of the bags and gaped.  Was there an outfit split between the bags for some reason?  This was barely more than underwear and a see-through top.  Oh.  Sandals too.
Opening the second bag, I realized what I was actually seeing:  a bikini and something to wear over it when not swimming.  I hadn’t been swimming for a long time, but I was sure James would help me if I couldn’t remember how.  He didn’t have to worry about me drowning at least.  I didn’t need air.
I quickly looked through the bags, wondering which swimming suit James would prefer.  I knew I wouldn’t feel comfortable in any of them.  The one piece suit was tempting, just to cover more up, but James never minded my skin.  If anything, he might enjoy it.  Frowning, I thought of how Alma was nearly as white as me.  Any whiter, and she’d be albino as well.  Well, her hair and eyes wouldn’t work.  After a month of seeing him look at her, I recognized his interest.  If he could like someone as pale as she was despite her unnatural look, he could like someone as white as snow.
I chose the red bikini and the pink, knit shirt.  We were on a date.  This wasn’t a time to be timid.  I smiled, certain that Alma would never wear something like this.  Seeing that James wasn’t out yet when I finished changing, I ran with the sandals in hand, wanting to feel the strange sand beneath my feet.  I could hardly believe the view.  When I got to the edge of the water, I let a wave splash over my foot, hardly believing this was a restaurant.
The smell of the food called to me, and I took to the table, already anticipating the taste of the food.  Where had the server gone?  There was no sign of him.  I couldn’t explain how the entrance seemed to be a free-floating door either.  Maybe Jarod would tell me later.
I forced myself not to eat anything yet, taking a seat and putting on the sandals.  When James finally emerged, I was happy to see he was ready to swim as well.  I would’ve felt foolish had I been the only one to change clothes.  I waved at him, anxious to spend more time with him.
As he ran over to me, I tried not to stare, but the movement of his muscles was yet another thing fit for a movie.  I knew he was strong for a human, if he really was human, but I hadn’t seen him quite so bare before.  I exhaled and smiled.  There were guys, and then there was James.
“The ocean smells so real!  I dipped my foot in just to see, and the water is real!  How do they do this?” I asked the moment he was seated.
Shrugging, he said, “I have no clue.  Aaliyah probably does.  I believe she helped with some of the tech here.”  He frowned slightly after mentioning her.
“That girl is amazing.  I’m really glad I met you, James.  Since I started working for you, I’ve met and helped so many interesting people!  Well, not all of the helping is on the job, obviously, but being a best friend for people is pretty cool too.” I assured him.
James always worried, and I never thanked him enough.  He might have frowned because he was worried that he mentioned another girl on our date, but I couldn’t care.  He was here with me when there were so many beautiful girls in his house, and Aaliyah was far too young to be a rival despite her intelligence.
He smiled at me, and I instantly felt more at ease again.
“I’m glad you are doing well.  I was honestly being a bit selfish when I started the business.  My father wanted me to get a job, but I couldn’t think of anywhere with the flexibility and variety of work I desired.  Then I decided to start my own business, and I wouldn’t be doing nearly as well with it if not for all of the help I’ve received.” he claimed, modest as ever.
“But you inspire people, James.  Whenever I’m around you, I feel so... full of hope.  I know the other girls feel it too.  You’re not some average guy who just happened to get lucky.  You’re amazing.” I insisted, reaching out and gently touching his hand.
He pulled back, frowning again.  “Sorry.” he told me.  “What you’re probably feeling is magic, actually.”
Having him pull away from me was discouraging, but having him worry about his gifts was so weird.  Why did he treat his incredible abilities like a curse at times?
“I found out a while ago that my body absorbs residual energy and creates this sort of magical field which causes people to like me.  I can’t control it.  There’s no way for either of us to know if anything you feel around me is real or not.” he stated.
I stared into his eyes, still wondering why he seemed to be in pain.  “You mentioned this before when we first met.” I reminded him.
 He nodded.
With him being silent, I then said, “You’ve gotta be one of the most talented people I’ve ever met, but you let your abilities bother you too much.”
He stared into my eyes and I wondered what all he saw.  There were times when James seemed to be delving into my soul.  For all I knew, the feeling might be true.  I smiled at him, trying to be reassuring.
“Well, you have to admit that sounds pretty lucky as things go.  Vampires have to deal with finding a source of blood.  Werewolves have to fight the urge to eat people.  I have cold skin, which freaks guys out.  You have to deal with everyone liking you.” I explained.
“I see your point, I guess, but aren’t you bothered by the idea that you’re forced to like me?” he asked, still looking upset.
I took a bite of my food, some sort of incredible chicken dish.  The taste was too amazing to keep from smiling even if I wanted to try.  James was worrying himself far too much, especially here.  “How can I be bothered by liking my date when we’re eating on a beach during sunset?” I asked.
He nodded.  I wished he would smile again, but I was glad he wasn’t frowning.  We talked idly as we enjoyed our meal.  The food here was easily as good as Marco’s, which was a feat by itself.  Had Marco helped the chefs here as well?  This past month had spoiled me more than I would’ve thought possible before coming here.  I felt guilty at times, knowing there were people struggling for food out there when I ate incredible meals daily and didn’t even need food to survive.  Emma couldn’t be everywhere to make the vegetables, and Marco couldn’t be everywhere to make the meals.  We needed to do our best with what we have, and today I was fortunate.  Not eating would only disappoint Marco, and I was making a difference in this city.
When we finished eating, I said, “Ready for a swim?”
 “Huh?” he asked, looking surprised.
I took off the knit shirt, placing it on the back of the chair.  “Swimming.  Why get dressed like this if we’re not going to enjoy this exotic ocean?” I asked, nodding toward the water.
“Oh.  Yes.  I suppose we can.” he replied, looking nervous.
 “Can’t swim?” I asked with a grin.
“What?  Of course, I can swim.” he stated.
“Then come on!” I exclaimed, interrupting whatever else he was going to say and pulling him toward the water.
The water felt wonderful, but I was surprised by the lack of salt.  There was no sting when some got in my eyes.  I supposed they weren’t trying for authenticity, not with purple water and blue sand.  The feel of the waves was plenty authentic for me, and being able to swim alone with James was amazing.
He eventually started to suggest we should leave, but I just dove back into the water.  He knew I couldn’t hear him, so I didn’t know why he tried telling me such things.  He needed more fun!  If he had been serious about needing to leave, he wouldn’t have followed me back into the water, so I knew he was just being overly cautious.
I swam to the shore when I spotted someone odd.  A very old looking man wearing robes like some sort of wizard was walking toward us.  He took his time making his way across the sand, but he seemed plenty strong to me, especially for someone so obviously elderly.  There was a confident ease to his stride that made him seem quite capable.
“Sorry to interrupt, but Aaliyah just called and informed me that you’re going to be late for your practice with Alma if you don’t leave in the next seven minutes.” stated the man when he reached us.
Turning to James, I asked “Why didn’t you tell me you had practice tonight?  I don’t want to make you late!”  I then ran to use the shower next to the changing rooms.
I didn’t quite trust Alma yet, especially alone with James, but I was aware that she was powerful.  She was far faster, stronger, and more knowledgeable than me.  If she was willing to instruct James, keeping him from the lessons was criminal.  Before meeting James, I wouldn’t have thought of such a thing as criminal, but I realized now what a difference instruction could make.  My world was expanding a little more each day, and a better me would exist tomorrow to give back to the world.
