WOE. LAST DAT OF 2023 BE UPON YE

Here’s my art recap for the year! Tbh my art didn’t improve overtime as much imo this year as compared to others, but tbh I’ve been super happy with my art. I included some printmaking projects even though I planned on posting them by themselves later.

I won’t say much about my year bc frankly I don’t. Want to. But I’m halfway though my second year of art school! Frankly this has been more fun than the first year lol.

I think I'm gonna start watching star trek the original series but for real this time. like not to appease some friend but just for me.

Allow me to rave for just a minute about Gale’s kiss scene in the epilogue.

First, there’s Gale’s gentle teasing of Tav, which we can all universally agree is magnificent, outstanding, exceptional, top-notch.

Then there’s The Boop™️. Something so perfect you could show it to an alien life form with absolutely zero understanding of human emotions or love, and it would still say, '…that’s the cutest thing I have ever seen in my life.’

But the part that I truly love the most (and that I don’t see mentioned often) is this right here:

I love that after Gale’s tease, Tav leans in for what they think will be a quick little kiss, but the minute their lips touch Gale’s, he’s so completely love-drunk he’s pulling them in for a makeout session.

Words aren’t necessary. Gale doesn’t feel like he has to ask or flatter or charm Tav first; he knows he can just reach out and his love will be reciprocated.

This is the result of Gale finally having a partner that lets his needs and his wants and his desires be met. He’s confident and secure enough in Tav’s love to know that he can just kiss them with a defenseless, honest passion, and he’ll get the same in return, because they love him for him.

Plus, the little sway/dance he does while kissing Tav!? He’s bursting with so much happiness he can’t contain himself.

I just. Love it. SO much.

And I am 100% sure this happens ALL THE TIME.

Professor Dekarios is late for his morning class again? He hasn’t even left his home yet, he’s still kissing his spouse goodbye.

Gale’s spending an evening with his friends at the Yawning Portal and suddenly they’re wondering where he went? He spotted Tav doing some shopping nearby and left to give his love a “quick peck on the cheek.” It’s been 40 minutes.

Elminster himself stops by to meet Gale to go to lunch? He finds Tara waiting for him, tail swishing in annoyance as she says, “Please do sit down and get comfortable. Gale will be awhile.”

Elminster just laughs. Is Gale caught up working on a spell? Got his nose in a book? He’s used to waiting on the boy, he’ll probably just be a few minutes more.

Tara: “He’s saying goodbye to Tav.”

Elminster: Sighs, takes off his hat, sits down.

And one final observation that sets my heart ablaze: remember when Gale told Tav at the Netherbrain battle, “I hope that wasn’t our last kiss. I’d take a thousand more if I could.” Just look at Gale pulling Tav in for those extra kisses; he’s already started counting. ❤️

You met him when he came into the gallery, you were taking a walk after another argument with your father. The boy was dressed oddly, bright coat and a large top hat on his head.

He looks at you and catches you staring. He just walks past, ignoring it You watch him as he walks past you, probably another aspiring chocolate maker.

But something about him was different, his eyes were full of hope, and he seemed friendly. You walked back into your father's shop, sighing and sitting down.

You worked at the place; your father had hired you as soon as he could. He said, “I need someone to carry on the legacy.”

But it wasn't what you wanted, no. You were simply carrying on his dream.

You heard the sound of singing soon after, you turned around and faced outside the window. The boy had indeed been an aspiring chocolate maker, you watched his performance. When his chocolate flew into the air, your eyes widened. His performance ended and you were left to stare out in shock.

A few seconds later, your dad came down from upstairs, looking furious. He had a frown on his face and he shoved the door open. you followed behind. His eyes scanned the crowd and he saw the three chocolate makers walking towards him. He smiled widely, and they made their way in front of the crowd.

You followed your father, and the eccentric boy's eyes met yours for a brief moment, before looking back at the three men.

He said their names, in shock and awe almost.

"What an honor. Ever since I was a little-" he shook Slugworth's hand, his grip crushing his hands.

"That is quite a handshake…"

"It's a business handshake is what it is." He let go of the boy's hand.

"Let's try one of these so-called hover chocolates!" slugworth exclaimed, willy opened up the bottle and let them grab some.

Willy looked to you, offering you some as well. You shook your head but smiled at the man. The boy smiled at you back as your father glared at you.

He smiled as he awaited their reactions, they discussed ingredients they recognized.

"So? What do you think?"

"I can safely say that out of all the chocolates I've tasted, this is the absolute, 100 percent, worst." He finished, the boy got excited for a moment, and then the words sank in.

You frowned, looking at his disappointment as they explained how chocolate should be simple, and plain.

"If you thought the chocolate was weird, you're going to hate what happens next," he said, your eyebrows furrowed at his words.

They started to float, and you gasped. Your father tried grabbing onto you, but you pushed him off, giggling as he flew in the air.

He yelled your name in anger, to which you rolled your eyes. You looked back at the curly-haired boy, he smiled at your reaction and you smiled at him back.

You both became friends after, secretly hopping around with Willy Wonka was the best thing you've decided to do. And one day, after your dad and the rest of the chocolate cartel were in prison, you and him were on the rooftop, staring at the stars as you laughed about when you met.

He leaned closer to you, and soon his lips found his way to yours. It was perfect, everything was.
