someone needs to tell those tiktok diet people that the actual "secret" is that human beings can eat almost anything and stay relatively healthy. we are omnivores. thats why we are alive and other hominids died out. "i only ate plants and i lost weight" "i only ate meat and i lost weight" "i ate mostly supplements you can buy on my website and lost weight" have any of you considered that you lose weight when you eat in a calorie deficite??? its not really much to do with What youre eating and the fact that people fall for this shit pisses me off. "eating s paleo diet cause our ancestors were healthier" THERE IS NO PALEO DIET PEOPLE ATE WHATEVER WSS AVAILIBLE WHOCH DEPENDED ON REGION!!!!! OMNIVORE GUYS O M N I

I’m mad, because the other day I wanted to find an exercise routine to help me stay healthy and build some muscle (not a lot, but a bit), but all of them are like okay “Let’s lose weight”. Here is an exercise routine and a calorie counter and I’m like no. I want to exercise without losing weight.

i wish more brands were ok with their product being unhealthy. i do not expect my bowl lucky charms to give me all the vitamins and minerals of the day you know. caramel slices don’t need to replace the caramel with dates and the cookie for nuts it really is ok if you enjoy chocolate caramel and cookie

The shittiest thing is my endocrinologist getting stuck on me NEEDING to go on the keto diet. It went from "look into it, it can help diabetes" to "you should really go on it" and I hate it. It's not just my last with an ED, it's the fact that I have a fast metabolism, get hungry every few hours, and need junk food around for when that happens and the fact I'll neglect my hunger cause of me being neurodivergent. I'm not even diabetic yet, I'm prediabetic AND managed to get my numbers down a bit. I went from 6.0 to 5.7 with just watching what's actually in the food I eat and choosing healthier snacks that aren't as fatty or as sugary and using sugary things for WHEN I have low blood sugar. It's not perfect, but I was so proud of myself then my doctor comes in like "you need to go on keto if you don't want to be diabetic"
It made me literally almost cry in the appointment. I won't see her until next year and I am enjoying it. My mom even agrees that keto isn't for me cause of how restrictive it is and did research for better diets (aka ones that are about switching foods, not limiting them) to help me.
I just hate the medical field so much. I hate it. It makes me angry. And we still have no idea why I gained 70 pounds in a few months then 70 more pounds in another few months without my doctors saying it was the pandemic. Nothing changed in my diet/exercise and this happened before the pandemic too. I'm so tired of doctors. I'm so tired of the medical field. I barely got a PCOS diagnosis. And i still invalidate myself because it's "not obvious." I hate that it's so ingrained in me to not validate myself.

One thing that always bothered me in high school (and still does, years after!) was touring a college and the tour guides went, "as a college freshman, you'll probably be susceptible to the Freshman Fifteen, so be careful!" as my tour group passed the college's gym complex (it was actually a pretty impressive gym, though, but that's beside the point).
Like, that just bothers me because... I wonder what is so different between American high school and American college that might contribute to weight gain (sarcasm intended)! Even taking 101 classes is very different from the classes you might take in high school, I don't think it's fair to hold your body to the standards you had in high school.
Absolutely, I think it's important to prioritize health for your body, but weight gain associated with major lifestyle changes are normal and why I remember this so clearly is because the threat of weight gain was treated as something that ought to scare us straight. If you gain weight in college, there's a reason why, and it isn't a horrific ordeal that you ought to feel ashamed of.

don't let diet culture and diet industry distort your perception about food and culinary practices, food is more than just calories and labeling it bad or good or toxic or whatever. Food can be your culture, your ethnicity, your identity, food can be locked with memories, with your childhood, with other people, with your loved ones, you know.

I am once again pissed at diet culture. I just watched three tiktoks in a row. how to cook dairyfree. How to meal prep without carbs. How to make healthy snacks without sugar. I keep getting (and stupidly clicking on) those articles that are like "ten things you shouldn't eat if you want to lose weight" and "why xy foods are bad for you" and wouldn't you know it last week i got recommendated articles that said those specific foods were super healthy and great for weight loss and now i should "never eat" them?? Is there any food we're still allowed to eat without being made to feel guilty?

me: huh, i wonder if there's anything i can do at home (on top of taking my medicine and quitting smoking) to help lower my high blood pressure that is a side effect of my immune system attacking my thyroid and causing a severe form of hyperthyroidism. maybe i should look up if there's exercises or like dietary things i should either limit in my diet or eat more of so I don't have a stroke. (like sodium? people on tv were always eating low sodium when having cardiovascular concerns?)
search engine results: lose weight, fatty. if you have high blood pressure it's because you're fat and you need to stop eating so much, fatty. there's no other reason. take diet pills so you can stop being ugly and fat and won't die of heart disease from being so fat. i mean you still might die of heart disease, but at least you won't be ugly.

it's very telling that when a skinny person talks about the dangers of diet culture and their body image issues, people are immediately like "omg so true, you should be comfortable in your own body. you're so beautiful!" but when a fat person says the same thing, all of a sudden it's "well being obese shouldn't be idolized. you should eat less, it's for your own good."

Dearest Ted Lasso friends, if you are going to have Roy tell Jamie he can’t eat something in a fic, or have Jamie worry over his food, you may want to consider tagging that shit! As a fat person who has had to deal with a lot of people policing my food intake, it’s just really a fucking bummer to read in what’s supposed to be my escapist hobby.

friendly reminder to my homies to always, always research and find credible sources to your information... was looking up food PH values today (this legit helps manage my intense GERD by eating more appropriate alkaline/basic PH foods) and one of the fuckin articles had lemons and limes listed as alkaline............. bro.........................
lemons and limes are so low on the PH scale they are incredibly acidic and I just. know this. its called CITRIC ACID for a reason... my god
thankfully I found a really helpful medical journal that did a surface level PH test of common foods & ingredients and it's really dope. will absolutely help me plan my nutrition better while keeping my acid vomit at bay
^ pdf for anyone wondering and also looking into alkaline foods to balance chronic GERD ^ (also the higher a foods PH is, the more alkaline it is aka it will assist with neutralizing GERD / acid reflux. generally, aim for foods with a base PH of 5.0 or higher)
