Like yes some of what he did I can maybe understand but have people actually read the books? Do they not understand what he's done which is so awful and unforgiving? For example; him sening Genya off to work with the Queen at 11- the work where she was constantly sexually harassed and assaulted by the king- how the fuck can people still like the darling after that? And don't say he wouldn't have known, there were rumours anyway about her and the king and the darkling knows a lot - it's so fucked up.

Also his emotional manipulation of Alina, Zoya and others who were under his protection alone is unforgivable. He knew grisha were drawn to him as he was an amplifier but used that for his gain. He took people who were delicate and used their fears and hope to twist their behaviour so they would do what he wanted to.

And it's not romantic that he kept trying to get Alina back - he wanted her power, if he truly loved and wanted her - he wouldn't have done all he did because for a moment he had her but he lost it because of his greed and power hungry self.

If I hear one person defending him in the comments I will genuinely be concerned for your mental state.

Naberius’s treatment in Gideon the Ninth is so cathartic, actually. He truly represents that universal lesbian experience of seeing a man that you know must technically be attractive because the girlies keep obsessing over him, but when you look at him you just think “ew yuck die” and form an intense, burning, instinctual hatred for him. Like, every time Gideon sees him she’s all “barf he smells like hair gel” or “ew he smirked like a douchebag.” Every time he’s in the room, he does this stupid routine that you’d expect of the Draco-in-leather-pants love interest in a shitty YA fantasy, except instead of fawning over it all the lesbians in the room just immediately go “shut tf up, Babs, I hope you die.” Truly the man-hating lesbian representation we need in the world

You know what's so crazy? I just came across a post that popped up on my feed and someone said the Darkling pit Zoya and Alina against each other. Since they were so busy competing with each other, they couldn't see that the Darkling was the problem. They also came to the conclusion that the Darkling was a misogynist🙃 The amount of reaching that was made is mind-boggling, especially since the Darkling didn't have many book scenes throughout the series so where exactly are they getting this from?

The funniest bit is how they call us of "not having critical thinking".

I mean you must be purposefully blind to not have read the bit where the Darkling took Zoya's amplifier away and send her away from the Little Palace after she yeeted Alina on a wall. 'Cause if she stayed for a few more days he would most likely no longer have a Sun Summoner.

Zoya didn't need anyone to make her Alina's adversary. Her own vanity, obsession with the Darkling and need for the spotlight did that.

But of course her fans will never admit that so....

I knew that many people would rather defend "vulnerable", delusional girls that the narrative constantly reminds us that have been through the passion of Christ rather than taking the side of an "oppressive", "evil" man that his only goal is to make these girls suffer but damn.... You guys have taken it on a whole other level, huh?

If the third amplifier had been the Darkling, the R&R plot would have been much more logical and interesting. Think for yourself, to destroy the Shadow Fold and kill the Darkling, Alina needs to… kill the Darkling. It would seem that this is a maximally losing situation for Alina, but there is one “but”. The Darkling wants Alina to rule with him, wants her to be close. So, she "surrenders" to the Darkling, secretly hatching plans to kill him. Aleksander is not a fool, and he understands that there is some kind of catch to this "surrender". From this moment the mind games begin. See? Much more interesting than the canon in which the blade boy suddenly turned out to be an amplifier😒.
