#midterms week is so stressful and for what#also losing my phone Thursday evening and only getting it back this morning meant that my functionality over the weekend plummeted#other issue is that with my fatigue I cannot handle a 3 class day- especially one that doesn’t give me time to rest#by the time I get to my last class on Mondays and Wednesdays I am like half asleep and barely capable of coherent thought#and it is an entirely discussion based class that I have to write an essay for#i have a test for one of my other classes but honestly half of it is 6th grade chemistry and the other half is environmental issues I#learned last semester so I’m not too worried#but there’s no clear prompt for the essay!! and I’m behind on the readings and barely remember classes because I’m so fatigued by the time I#get to the classroom- this isn’t even something that becomes a problem halfway through that class#honestly it usually becomes a problem a bit before my second class ends just because of how that class functions#we do small group discussions every class and I can never hear what people are saying because it’s so loud and there’s like three people who#are just. so. loud. and I can’t hear someone else talking even if they’re literally right next to me#so that saps a ton of energy#I might ask my professor if going forward I can choose to opt in or out of that part due to how much fatigue it causes and how much I#struggle just to understand what someone is saying#I also need to send an email to the ODA because they dropped the ball in a couple different ways in regards to my accommodations and I need#them to fix that. also like. I know the head of the department. we have had multiple conversations since I am the chair of the student#disability group and she is the head of the disability department#I also know multiple people working in the ODA (students) and another person who I specifically can go to if an accommodation is denied#because she will get them to revisit my case (and likely approve the accommodation)#what I’m saying is that I have Connections. but they’re worthless if I don’t know if I’ve been approved or denied an accommodation!#I’ll send them an email. cc the person I met with both this year and last year (who somehow managed to remember me?) and see what happens#one of the issues is that they approved me for an accommodation to use this application and said they’d send me a link to access my account#and they just. never did! like they approved an accommodation and then failed to provide me with said accommodation#and the last thing that the ODA wants is the person in charge of the disability group on campus to decide that they’re not doing a good#enough job because I can cause a huge commotion#I have semi-regularly emailed with one of the assistant deans. I am actively communicating with one of the organizers in our#campus’s student labor advocacy coalition (which I was a part of last year) and they are super experienced in making a big impact about#an issue. I also learned from them last year and we support each other this year so again. Connections#they really don’t want me on their bad side. should I have to threaten my way into getting my accommodations? no but I will as a last resort

You're gonna hate me... BUT I needa do it regardless.
No 'Not Just Friends' post this week. I have a test in each of my five classes next week and a presentation in ALL OF THEM. That same week. I also have an English essay due on Sunday so I have like no time to write. Wish me luck on those oml. Updates should continue as normal after unless this happens again.
Part 2 of 'Too easily' might come out in two weeks. So Wednesday the 25th! (Might change)
The first part to Shoto's sister should be coming out on Wednesday if I can manage.
Bare with me though! I'm not abandoning you guys!!
LOVE YOU MWAHH

All of this review lets me see how much I have learned in my first year of high school, but at the same time, cumulative exams are NOT fun. There is SO MUCH information! And I'm still learning more information in Biology and World History! I mentioned this in yesterday's post, but my piano harmony and theory exam is on Friday, and I am much more worried about that than the practical! Almost done, almost done. And the best present of all during finals week, Julien will be home! He's taking his finals right now, and I'm not sure if he'll be coming back over the weekend or early next week. He won't tell me. He's going to get squished like my squishmallows. He better be ready for it!
Tasks Completed:
Geometry - 1st and 2nd quarter review
Lit and Comp II - Reviewed Units 7-9 vocabulary + read the news + + worked on non-fiction writing assignment (due next Thursday) + CLEP Test practice question + reviewed final study sheet
Spanish 2 - Reviewed Los Artes vocabulary + reviewed more on the preterit and imperfect
Bible I - Read Matthew 21
World History - Typed up a short essay about a current female leader and her accomplishments (I went with Kaja Kallas who is the Prime Minister of Estonia because she was in the last docuseries I watched as an interviewee, and she seemed interesting)
Biology with Lab - Learned about some phyla of invertebrates + filled in graphic organizer chart (first two sections) + continued germination lab
Foundations - Read more on virtue + completed the next quiz on Read Theory + worked on the outline for my argumentative speech
Piano - Practiced for two hours in one hour split sessions
Khan Academy - Completed High School Geometry daily mastery challenge + completed High School biology daily mastery challenge + completed World History Unit 1 test (89%)

I need more!!!!
'a gold star for me' plz
you ask and i shall deliver!! this is an au where jack is a middle school english teacher who wants to go into sports journalism and nico is the hot, new gym teacher that gets his goat!
also featuring trevor as the science teacher all the 8th grade girls have a crush on and jamie as his teacher's aide (who trevor is desperately trying to woo). also sebastian aho cuz i needed a villain lmao
it's hot, it's funny, it's relatable, and even a bit inspirational at times (i hope). it also might be my longest fic (with, like, actual chapters! wowza!)
here's a couple snippets:
The last essay of the semester, on a handful of Ray Bradbury’s short science fiction stories, was due at the start of last class. Jack had managed a good rate of on-time turn-ins, of varying quality but nonetheless complete, which bodes well for his end-of-semester performance review. Daniel turned his in on Monday, which wasn’t a surprise, and Jack was able to mark it over his evening tea, reading it and giving it its deserved A+ before the kettle even whistled. As for the rest, Jack dedicated a solid two hours to the task last night, breaking out his lucky red pen and using it frequently. Now, Friday morning, he has a stack of graded papers on his desk ready to be handed out before the weekend. Well, except Charlotte’s.
Charlotte was suspiciously absent on Wednesday, which isn’t out of the norm, really—her multiple absences was something he brought up to her mother during their parent-teacher conference last month, though the woman just sighed and said that she got frequent stomach aches (Jack wasn’t about to comment that her ailments had the habit of landing on test days). It’s not that Charlotte isn’t smart—Jack would hate to say she has potential if she only just applied herself—she just doesn’t want to be there. Jack has had more than his fair share of students like that. If it weren’t for their parents’ expectations—and their checkbooks funding their frankly overpriced tuition—kids like Charlotte would flunk out voluntarily. They always seem to get cold feet right before report cards come out, though.
Charlotte continues in her excuse train, and Jack waves a hand for her to stop. He’s heard it all before, and Charlotte is as transparent as a glass door, but Jack knows they’ll both be miserable if he gives her grief for it now. The whole point of getting these all done the night before was to have an easy, stress-free weekend with no homework of his own. All but forcing Charlotte to scribble some half-thought out mess on some looseleaf during her study hall would only stress them both out—Charlotte for obvious reasons, and Jack, because he’d be the one who’d have to actually read it.
and!
“What are you drinking?” Nico asks, and Jack had almost forgotten about the empty glass in front of him. Jack opens his mouth to answer but hesitates.
Part of Jack wants to lengthen this moment between him and Nico, really stretch it out as long as he can make it. Another part wants to nod his head towards the door, grab Nico’s hand, and pull him through it. With the way Nico is looking at him right now, he doesn’t think it’ll be too difficult. He’s certainly spent less time working up the nerve to make the big ask with other men, but something is telling him to let this moment grow—slow down the drive and coast a little.
“Gimlet,” he says, and Nico flags down Ana as she passes to order two for the both of them. Ana nods and grabs the well-loved bottle of Ketel One. He’ll let Nico take the lead and see where he ends up. He seems more than capable.
With Nico sitting down now, Jack can study his arms resting on the bartop, thick and covered in fine, dark hair. His gaze travels up the line of them, and he notices the bulk of his biceps stretched along the fabric of his shirt. “So, you’re new in town, checking out the local scene?”
Nico nods, catching Jack studying him with a cheeky smile. “Yes. I don’t really know anyone in the area yet. This seemed like a good place to start.”
“Well, yeah, Salt Crab’s the best. Isn’t that right, Ana?”
Ana turns around, towel in one hand drying some wine glasses. “Sweet talk’s not gonna make those drinks free, Hughes.”
Jack’s laugh bubbles out of him, and he catches Nico staring at him, like he’s hanging onto his every sound. Nico’s eyes flick to the floor and back up.
“You have a nice laugh,” he says, and Jack has to divert the conversation before he starts blushing like a schoolboy.
thanks for the ask, @solip1386 <333

authors note: So I attempted writing a text fic for another fandom i used to write for buuut abandonded it when i left the fandom. But i wanted to give it another go!! I think it helps me be a bit more creative, and I had some content that I hated going unused. I've tried to make everyones nicknames and stuff in group chats obvious so you don't get too confused who is who but I do have a "key" written out in my notes I can include if you need, just comment and lmk!!

Pineapples: ok so if human skin is like pig skin would u be able to make pork crackling but like with human
RoRo: probably if u prepared it properly
Four Eyes: You most probably could. Part of me would want to say that human skin would react to being in an oven differently, but I think if you just used a part of the body most similar to a pork roast it would be fine. Pat dry, oil and salt, all good to cook. The only issue would be knowing how long to cook it for and what temperature so that it does crackle

Stockholm Week 9: Booking the Rest of the Weekends!
This week was supposedly a stressful midterm week but thanks to the work I put in last weekend, I had an oddly relaxing week.
I booked a bunch of flights (hopefully the last) this week too ⸜( ˙ ˘ ˙)⸝♡
My wallet is suffering but I’m brainwashing myself that this is a lifetime opportunity I need to catch.
3/11 Mon: Ivar Los Park + Italy!
I had the mission of finding the tablecloth my mom bought in Stockholm Stadsmission during her stay. She was sad that she didn’t buy more of the same design since it fit the table size too perfectly. As a good daughter, I decided to do a scavenger hunt for it before it ran out of stock.
Unfortunately, the ones with the same design were gone when I arrived. Although I failed my mom’s request, my own hunt was successful! I found a skirt and dress that fit perfectly. I couldn’t resist buying them since they were less than $10 each too.
My Midterm paper for Crime Fiction class was due on Tuesday but I was close to being done due to last weekend’s grind. With light steps, I continued to spend time outside, enjoying the sun. Since I was already in Mariatorget and didn’t want to go home yet, I took a long walk around the Ivar Los Park.
The park was smaller than I thought. I sat down on a bench for a little while until I got up to walk alongside Monteliusvägen. The clear sky amplified the beauty of the view, lightening up my mood as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tried to capture every moment in my head so that I could look back to these moments when I was exhausted.
During my 40-minute walk, I discovered a kindergarten, church, ballet school, and Mojang studios (shoutout to Minecraft fans). I shared my happiness with my grandparents in Korea by calling them and chit-chatting for a while.

A few snaps from my point of view
I walked back home since the park wasn’t too far from my apartment. I noticed that our apartment also had a small garden and walking paths, so I strolled around in the little garden until I was satisfied with the amount of Vitamin D intake.
For the longest time, something inside me had been bugging me to travel to Amsterdam and see the tulip festival. I tried scheduling times with my friends, but I couldn’t find anyone available during the weekend I was planning to go.
It was then that I got in touch with my friend from home, who is also studying abroad in Europe. We started talking about our travel plans and scheduling availability. Going to Amsterdam failed again because of our tight schedule, but we managed to find a weekend to visit Italy!!! It didn’t take us long to book our flights and come up with Airbnb lists ( ˃ᴗ˂ )
3/12 Tue
In Swedish class, we were assigned random groups to do a team assignment.

There are too many ways to pronounce words
I don’t know how but dumplings kept coming up in our conversations (we were hungry), and I just had to go grab dumplings after class.
Tumblr media
These pork dumplings were a bit greasy but they tasted a bit like dim sum and I loved that
I walked around the vicinity after getting re-energized. More and more flower vendors have been popping up here and there, and I walked by slowly to enjoy the sight and the scent of flowers.
Tumblr media
Tulips usually aren’t my favorites but the ones here are absolutely gorgeous ✿(′ᵕ′*)
For dinner, I followed a kimchi fried rice recipe with cabbage instead. It was delicious as usual :)
Tumblr media
I’m running out of menus though ;-;
3/13 Wed: Productive Day
Wednesdays without any field studies are arguably the best!
I slept in and made a sandwich salad combo for brunch.
Tumblr media
Pesto is always right
I stayed home and worked on the second midterm essay of this week for Glued to the Screen TV Film course. I was more of a test girl than an essay girl but oddly, I enjoyed writing the three essays that are 2.5 pages each. I really think blogging is helping to lower the mental hurdles I have for writing essays.
After finishing the essays early, I switched the subject and worked on two different group projects. It was a very productive day!
3/14 Thu: Malta!
I stayed in the DIS building after the morning class until my late afternoon core class began. I was going to go to one of these recommended study cafes but got too lazy to go out.
Tumblr media
A map of good places to study!
I couldn’t get rid of the thought of going to Amsterdam, so I logged into Ryanair again.
The Ryanair website had an option to select “Anywhere” for the destination. Out of boredom and curiosity, I set the dates to one of my available weekends and scrolled through the possible destinations.
I found relatively cheap flight options to Hungary, Germany, Latvia, Estonia, Austria, the United Kingdom, Greece, and Malta. Out of those options, Greece and Malta caught my eye. I would’ve loved to go to Santorini but that wasn’t an option. When I searched Malta on Google, I was captivated by the scenery. I LOVE the beach and it happened to be Malta’s specialty. I could feel my lingering desire for Amsterdam finally dissipating as I looked at the pictures of Malta.
I contemplated for a while, calculating the expenses, and clicked the button to buy the flight ticket. A solo trip to Malta in April is officially confirmed! I’m becoming more and more spontaneous but I don’t hate the change. I’m working on trying out things that I wouldn’t have done before, and this is a step towards my goal.
For dinner, I made a quick and healthy meal out of oatmeal. I’ve been into oatmeal recipes lately; they are easy and fulfilling! Since oatmeal was healthy, I ate chips to balance out.
For the rest of the night, I read the second half of The Legacy by Yrsa Sigurðardóttir for the Crime Fiction class tomorrow.
3/15 Fri
I woke up early around 7 am to finish the book.
After classes, my friend and I grabbed lunch at a Thai restaurant.
Tumblr media
The pad thai was good but I couldn’t stop comparing it to No Thai
If you’re reading this in Ann Arbor, please get pad thai or drunken noodles or potato curry at No Thai for me.
Anyway, our lunch date didn’t end there. Yes, we were full after lunch. Yes, we got boba. I have been refraining from getting boba too much because I knew my addiction would kick in again soon enough. But it was Friday and I was productive this week, so I got it as a treat for myself.
I tried working on homework that evening, but I couldn’t get myself to focus enough to finish it. So Friday night ended up as a self-care night in my bed as well ( * ˘╰╯˘ *)
3/16 Sat: Study Date
On Saturday, I got to sleep in until 11:30 am. I was still in my bed rolling around when my friend asked me if I wanted to come with her to go do work in a cafe. It didn’t take too long to realize that I wouldn’t do any work if I stayed home, so I composed myself and got ready to go out.
We headed to Gamla Stan but it was packed with even more people than usual. I blame the good weather.
After failing to find a spot in three different cafes, we moved over to T-Centralen and found a good study place.
Tumblr media
The cafe is called the Kaferang City - I got Snapple but it was $5.50 ;-;
The music and distant conversations helped me focus and finish my assignments (+ blogging) for the week!
On the way back home, I stopped at ICA to get groceries. I bought a pack of raw chicken breast for the first time, and it took me TWO hours to cook it + make dinner. My legs hurt by the end but once I tasted my dinner I knew it was worth it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was so afraid that chicken would be raw so I cut some into thirds, not even halves
When I went back home I was irresistibly drawn to stay horizontal in my bed. I made a good choice to start a new novel but a bad choice to read until 5 am.
3/17 Sun
Free time!
My roommate hasn’t come back from her weekend trip so I had all the space to myself. Moreover, I didn’t have much to do because I did most of it yesterday at the cafe.
Sooo I basically spent the whole day finishing reading the novel except doing a brief project meeting and submitting finalized homework assignments.
This week was an opportunity for me to rest peacefully, both mentally and physically. I love traveling but felt that taking a rest was a necessary step for me.
It has been two months already since I came to Stockholm. Thank you for reading my weekly essays and I promise you that I’ll come back with more stories to tell next week!

good morning love!! good luck with finals this week <33 i have an essay due tomorrow night that i haven’t started yet so i’m doing great 🫠 but other than that i have two tests that i’m pretty confident about. how about you?
thanks so much lovie!! i’m currently on a zoom call for one of my classes, and we’re basically doing a wrap-up of the class, but the assignment’s only worth 5 points, so i don’t really know why i’m on here, given i finished the final yesterday, but it’s whatever. i have a final this afternoon, one tomorrow, one wednesday and then one thursday and then i’m done! i’d say i’m feeling somewhat confident, though i gotta admit that i did procrastinate on studying LMAO. hopefully my brain will help me out. i’m honestly so excited for thursday bc i can kick off my summer vacation with hockey & i was sad about not being able to do it last year so it gives me something to look forward to!
you’ll slay your essay though, don’t worry. i actually feel that essays are somewhat easier to complete than actual exams because you get to work on it at your own pace, whereas taking an exam in one sitting doesn’t give you that much time to think because you’re only given X amount of time. for my finals, i have between 1 hour, 50 mins and 2 hours depending on the class.
for everyone taking finals this week, i wish y’all the best of luck, and remember that at the end of the day, grades do not define you nor your intelligence!🩷

.💚💚.
𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝖓𝖊𝖝𝖙 𝖋𝖊𝖜 days were horrendous for me. Everywhere I went I swear, either Dumbledore, Snape, or McGonagall were shooting me conspicuous looks, waiting for answers. I'd given them a least a months worth of information, what more did they want from me? The grades to people's tests? Every little conversation that was between now and Colin's petrifying?
I was angsty and snapped easily, lashing out at everyone. Hermione had retreated inside herself, not talking to anyone and constantly reading, more than ever. The Hufflepuffs had taken to avoiding Harry despite my assurances that Harry wasn't the one who had petrified Mrs. Norris, and the fact that Dumbledore didn't believe Harry had done it.
A week later on Wednesday, I was with Ron in the library while Hermione was in the stacks of books father back. Ron was measuring his History of Magic essay which was supposed to be three feet long.
"I don't believe it." Ron said, letting the tape measuring shut as Harry walked into the library and sat down next to us. "I'm still eight inches short. And Hermione's done four feet seven inches and her writing's tiny." He let go of the parchment he had written his essay on and it sprang together into its original roll.
"Where is she?" Harry asked, grabbing the tape measure to measure his own essay.
"Mines four feet nine inches." I said with a smirk, able to gloat because Hermione wasn't here. Ron glanced over at my essay and scowled. My handwriting was just as small as Hermione's. Harry chuckled as he sat down.
"Somewhere over there," Ron said, pointing vaguely into the shelves. "Looking for another book. I think she's trying to read the whole library before Christmas."
I snorted with laughter and then refocused on my Potions assignment that was due next week.
"Listen, as I was coming here, I saw Justin Finch-Fletchley from Herbology class, remember him? Anyways, I was going to say Hello to him but he darted off in the other direction to avoid me." Harry said, sounding unhappy and a bit confused. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat and rolled up my potions essay.
"Dunno why you care." Ron said, scribbling as largely as possible to take up more space on his essay. "I thought he was a bit of an idiot. All that junk about Lockhart being so great-"
I scowled, pulling the string around my essay just a little to tightly. My essay crinkled and I had to untie the string and retie it. Even though my Hufflepuff friends were wrong, I didn't like anyone talking bad about them.
Hermione came out from behind the stacks of books, looking irritable. I put my potions essay away and pulled out my charms essay that was due in three days. Shallow charming and is it better than deep charming? Two feet four inches due. UGH! Shallow and deep charms were so boring!
"All the copies of Hogwarts, A History have been taken out." She said, sitting down across from Harry. "And there's a two-week waiting list. I wish I hadn't left my copy at home, but I couldn't fit it in my trunk with all the Lockhart books."
"They're a waste of space, you shouldn't have brought them period." I muttered under my breath. While Ron laughed, Hermione scowled at me, but otherwise ignored my comment.
"Why do you want it?" Harry asked curiously, shooting me a grin.
"The same reason everyone else wants it. To read up on the legend of the Chamber of Secrets." Hermione said waspishly, obviously still mad about my 'Lockhart's books are stupid' comment.
I looked up quickly as Harry asked, "What's that?"
Hogwarts, A History had the Chamber of Secrets legend in it? My book was downstairs, I could run up and get it before class. Did I have enough time? Probably not, Transfiguration started in 10 minutes. I could get it after class.
"Hermione, let me read your composition." Ron said desperately, checking his watch.
"No, I won't. You've had ten days to finish it-" Hermione said in her severe, bossy voice.
I quickly pulled my essay out of my bag and tossed it over to him. "Be quick. I don't want to be late to McGonagall's class."
Hermione gave me a look of disapproval.
"It's two lines, Hermione." I said in defense. "Its a one time pass too." I warned Ron as he clumsily untied my perfect parcel knot.
The bell rang and we parted separate ways- them to History of Magic with Binns, me to Transfiguration with McGonagall.
I sat down in my regular seat in the front of the classroom. We were going to be working on animal to goblet transformations. I had asked Sadie to fly into class today and she was already sitting on the back of my chair. I turned around and petted her head. "Ready for today?" I asked softly. "It'll be quick and painless, I promise. You can always change your mind of course." I added quickly.
Sadie hooted quietly and stuck her beak in my hair like she was grooming me. I grinned at her and petted her head again. Professor McGonagall called for attention at the front of the class and I turned around, leaning forward so that I wasn't pressed up against Sadie.
Suddenly, I was no longer in the Transfiguration classroom, but in the History of Magic classroom. I tried to look around, confused, then realized I couldn't move. I was in a different point of view, looking at Hermione. The view shifted to look at Professor Binns.
"For a few years, the founders worked in harmony together, seeking out youngsters who showed signs of magic and bringing them to the castle to be educated. But then disagreements sprang up between them. A rift began to grow between Slytherin and the others. Slytherin wished to be more selective about the students. . ."
I was back in the Transfiguration classroom. Professor McGonagall was going over the wand movement and Incantation. I quickly started scribbling down what she was saying. What a weird blackout.
I'd had a blackout like that before, last year. I hadn't been looking into the future, just as I hadn't been looking just now. And last year I was in the point of view of Harry. Was I in Harry this time again? I certainly wasn't in Hermione's point of view considering that I had been looking at her for a moment. And I couldn't see a reason why I'd be anyone else.
Then, it happened again. I was back in the History of Magic classroom, Binns still talking. "The story goes that Slytherin had built a hidden chamber in the castle, of which the other founders knew nothing. Slytherin, according to the legend, sealed the Chamber of Secrets so that none would be able to open it until his own true heir arrived at the school. The heir alone would be able to reseal the Chamber of Secrets, unleash the horror within, and use it to purge the school of all who were unworthy to study magic."
I came back to the Transfiguration classroom and looked around quickly. Everyone else had started on their transformation. Sadie hooted softly behind me, and I held out my arm, and she hopped onto it.
"Sorry." I whispered. "I got a bit distracted. I'm going to practice a little first so I get the spell perfect on the first try."
I looked down at my notes. Three taps on the target object then say the incantation. The incantation was Fera Verto.
"Fera Verto, Fera Verto." I said multiple times without my wand in my hand. Then, taking out my wand, I tapped Sadie lightly three times on top of her head and said, "Fera Verto."
She shrunk into a large silver goblet and I smiled proudly.
"Lovely, Miss Kane." Professor McGonagall said, who had started walking around amongst the students, looking at everyone's progress. "Five points to Hufflepuff." Sher performed the counter charm to turn Sadie back into herself.
I let out a sigh of relief. "That wasn't too bad, was it?" I asked, in concern.
Sadie hooted and flapped her wings. Then she tucked her head under her wing and closed her large eyes.
"Tired?" I asked, a little amused, a little preoccupied. I petted her head and down her back. She hooted softly again. I kept stroking her until the bell rang and then carried her over to the window and let her fly off. I watched her for a moment, wondering what the hell had just happened inside my head.
Now that I thought about it, it wasn't really the future, was it? It was the present in a different part of the castle. It had been the present last year as well. What was the difference? Why did it happen? It seemed the more I discovered about my visions, the more questions I had about them. Stupid things.
Grabbing my bag, I left the room quickly and headed down the hallway to get to the Great Hall for dinner. I approached the hallway where Mrs. Norris had been. Coming up from the other hallway, I heard Ron's voice saying, "D'you really think there's a Chamber of Secrets?"
I looked over, seeing Hermione, Ron, and Harry were coming up to me. Harry raised his hand in greeting but listened to Hermione say, "I don't know. Dumbledore couldn't cure Mrs. Norris, and that makes me think that whatever attacked her might not be- well- human."
The came to where I was standing which was right in front of the hallway where the attack had been. They stopped walking.
"That's where Filch has been keeping guard." Ron said, pointing to an empty wooden chair up against the wall.
"Can't hurt to have a poke around." Harry said, dropping to his knees so that he could look for clues better. I raised an eyebrow at him, rolled my eyes, and then looked away from him.
I looked around the empty hallway nervously. We shouldn't be here. I didn't think there was anything we could possibly find here.
"Scorch marks!" He said, pointing to the floor in front of him. "Here- and here-"
Where had the scorch marks come from?
"Come and look at this." Hermione said, across the corridor by the windows. "This is funny. . ."
Against my better judgement, I approached the windows with Harry. Hermione had been pointing at the topmost pane and it took me a moment to see what it was and then I jumped back in disgust. There was a single, long, silvery thread dangling like a rope. There were perhaps forty thousand spiders climbing along it like they were trying to escape to the outside world.
"Have you ever seen spiders act like that?" Hermione asked wondering.
"They look like they're trying to flee the castle." I murmured aloud, frowning. I didn't particularly like spiders.
"No, never. Have you, Ron?" Harry asked. There was no answer. "Ron?"
We turned to look around where Ron was standing well back away from the window panes.
"What's up?" Harry asked, confused and curious.
"I- don't- like- spiders." Ron said through gritted teeth.
"I never knew that." Hermione said with an air of surprise. "You've used spiders in Potions loads of times. . ."
"I don't mind them dead." Ron said, speaking very carefully as though opening his mouth to big would result in a spider in his mouth. "I just don't like the way they move. . ."
Hermione and I giggled.
"It's not funny." Ron said angrily. "If you must know, when I was three, Fred turned my- my teddy bear into a great big filthy spider because I broke his broomstick. . . You wouldn't like them either if you'd been holding your bear and suddenly it had too many legs and. . ."
He broke off, shuddering. Hermione was covering her mouth, stifling her laughs. I continued to laugh out loud.
Harry quickly changed the subject, "Remember all that water on the floor? Where did that come from? Someone's mopped it up."
"It was about here." Ron said, walking even farther away from the windows, his back to the spiders. "Level with this door."
Had there been water on the floor? I hadn't remembered that. It was obviously possible. Perhaps Myrtle had thrown a fit again. Peeves had upset her greatly last night.
Ron raised his hand to open the door and then drew his hand back.
"What's the matter?" Harry asked curiously, pushing forward to see.
"Can't go in there. That's a girls' toilet." Ron muttered.
I laughed again.
"Oh, Ron, there won't be anyone in there. That's Moaning Myrtle's place. Come on, let's have a look." Hermine said haughtily, pushing forward and opening the door.
I walked in first, looking around at the large, depressing bathroom. The floor was damp, like it always was. The candles flickered, dangerously close to going out. The mirrors were cracked and on the brink of shattering. The sinks were chipped, one faucet still dripping. The ceilings had stains on them and the bathroom stall doors were scratched and flaking. One door was hanging off its hinges.
I was never sure why this bathroom hadn't been cleaned up and repaired when it would've been so easy to do with a little magic. Part of me suspected it was because the Professors- or at least our headmaster- respected the ghosts and were lenient to let Myrtle have this place to her own.
I hung back while Hermione approached the last stall. "Hello, Myrtle, how are you?"
Harry and Ron followed Hermione to see Myrtle. I heard her say, "This is a girls bathroom. They're not girls."
If I didn't like Myrtle or understood her sensitiveness, I would've said, "Wonderful observation." I held my tongue.
"No." Hermione said in agreement. "I just wanted to show them how- er- nice it is in here."
I rolled my eyes, crossed my arms, and leaned back against the stall doors, studying the sinks. They were all shaped the same way except for one. One of them, the middle one, had the design of a snake curling around the tap. Strange design, but I supposed since this bathroom was close to the Slytherin common room. Perhaps that was why?
The sound of Myrtle howling in agony made me pull my attention away from the taps and pay attention again. ". . .My life was nothing but misery at this place and now people come along ruining my death!"
"We wanted to ask you if you've seen anything funny lately." Hermione said in a rushed way. "Because a cat was attacked right outside your front door on Halloween."
"Did you see anyone near here that night?" Harry asked, as though perhaps Myrtle hadn't understood the first time.
"I wasn't paying attention." Myrtle said in a voice that I knew meant she was about to do something dramatic. "Peeves upset me so much I came in here and tried to kill myself. Then, of course, I remembered that I'm- that I'm-"
"Already dead?" Ron asked.
Myrtle gave a tragic sob and I heard a splash that meant Myrtle had dove into the toilet. I sighed, getting up from the wall, pinching my nose.
"Let's go." I said, almost bored. "I'm hungry."
Harry closed the door behind us and we started to walk towards the Great Hall and then a loud voice made all of us jump.
"RON!"
We all spun around. There was Percy Weasley, Ron's eldest brother at Hogwarts, stopped dead at the head of the stairs. I could see his prefect badge gleaming from here. I wouldn't be surprised if he polished it every night before he went to bed. He had a look of pure shock on his face.
"That's a girls bathroom!" He said gasping. "What were you-"
Ron tried to shrug it off by saying, "Just having a look around, clues, you know-"
Percy swelled up, looking a bit like Mrs. Weasley in my opinion when she got mad. He strode toward us in long strides and started flapping his arms, moving us forward like we were birds he was trying to shoo away. "Get- away- from- there-. Don't you care what this looks like? Coming back here while everyone's at dinner-"
"Why shouldn't we be here?" Ron asked hotly. "Listen, we never laid a finger on that cat." He said, stopping short. Harry bumped into him.
"That's what I told Ginny." Percy said fiercely. "But she still seems to think you're going to be expelled. I've never seen her so upset, crying her eyes out, you might think of her, all the first years are thoroughly overexcited by this business-"
I felt guilt pierce me like a hot knife. I'd been perfectly friendly with Ginny at the Burrow, but the moment I'd gotten back to Hogwarts it had been Harry, Ron, Hermione, and me. Of course, we were in different years which meant we didn't have a lot of time that we could spend together, but still. We could go to Hagrid's together, explore the forest, study- or I supposed I could tutor her. I had to find some way that we could stay friends. It would be cruel any way else.
"You don't care about Ginny." Ron accused Percy, his ears bright red. "You're just worried I'm going to mess up your chances of being Head Boy-"
Percy's fingers flew up to his Prefect badge, stroking it, almost as though Ron had hurt its feelings. "Five points from Gryffindor!" Percy said angrily. "And I hope it teaches you a lesson! No more detective work, or I'll write to Mum!" He turned around and strode off without making sure we were going to the Great Hall to eat. His neck was redder than Ron's ears.
.💚💚.
𝕴 𝖍𝖊𝖆𝖉𝖊𝖉 𝖆𝖜𝖆𝖞 from the Great Hall by myself instead of with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Ginny came out of the Great Hall some moments later, looking a bit pale.
"Hey Ginny!" I approached her quickly.
She looked at me, looking even paler, and a little disconcerted, and then said, "Oh, hey Elizabeth."
"Um. . . I was wondering if you wanted to take a walk with me. I have something important I want to tell you." I said, clutching my book tightly. I still wasn't entirely sure what I was going to say. Everything that I wanted to say, read in my head, sounded stupid.
"Sure." Ginny said. We walked out of the castle. The sky was turning pink and gold and it was already very cold. We wrapped our cloaks around us and we wandered down to the Black lake.
"Umm. . ." I started out. "I just wanted to apologize to you." I looked out over the lake, unable to look at her, as ashamed as I was. I wasn't entirely why I felt so ashamed, but I did. I couldn't explain the strange feeling in my stomach. I felt like I had committed a crime.
"Why?" Ginny asked, sounding curious and surprised.
"Because." I said, taking a deep breath, my cheeks turning pink from shame and cold. "Over the summer, I was your friend and then we came to Hogwarts and I stopped talking to you. That was wrong of me. I want to be friends Ginny." I said that as innocently as a twelve year old could. "I understand that I've probably been really cold and that's just. . . no excuses." I finished lamely. "I'll always be around, I promise."
I finally looked at her and smiled, hoping she accepted my apology. The words still sounded stupid.
Ginny smiled back at me. She looked strangely relieved, as though she had expected me to say something else. "Friends forever?" she asked.
"Friends forever." I agreed. A warm feeling spread through my body despite the cold temperature outside. I was definitely doing the right thing. Now, I just had to keep my promise and that was always harder than it sounded.
"I have a report I have to finish for Charms, want to help?" Ginny asked, tilting her head to side hesitantly, as though I might have changed my mind in the last three seconds.
"Sure, let's go to the library." I said, smiling like an idiot. But what can I say? I'm twelve years old and I like making friends. There's nothing wrong with that. Besides, despite having a brother, I'd always wanted a sister. Specifically a little sister I could watch over.
We walked back up to the castle, stepping through the huge front doors and feeling the immediate transformation from freezing to warm. We walked through the hallways and up staircases, talking and laughing.
Reaching the library, we stepped inside, finding a table in the back and pulling out essays. Ugh Shallow and Deep charms. I wondered how Professor Flitwick would react if I just didn't do it. To my pleasure, Ginny needed help on one of her Transfiguration assignments.
As I started to help her with a question that I had done last year, I saw a bubbling cauldron in a bathroom stall.
I pushed the vision away. I could think about those later. Right now, it was just me and Ginny. I wasn't going to break my promise.

31 and 32/100 days of productivity
Wednesday, April 26th
I am so goddamn tired from studying. Currently having a gifted kid burnout. Yesterday I started the assignment due friday of my class on Marx and I realized I should have started it earlier. I hate studying in a rush, even though I have been pretty consistent with my study sessions throughout the semester, it still wasn't enough time to totally dominate the subject. We had SO MUCH to read for this class that I didn't have time to re-read the stuff so the info would properly be stored in my brain. So now I am re-reading them super fast to refresh my memory and find the answers in the text that i need for the assignment. I actually don't know how –or if– i'm managing to do that. Plus I have two midterm tests next wednesday, of Oriental Philosophy and Metaphysics, so I have to study for that once I finish the Marx assignment. Then, I have to make a detailed project for my future essay for Interdisciplinarities class. So much work!
What I did:
studied the stuff from my Oriental Philosophy class from monday that I didnt go to bc i was out of the city (yesterday)
worked hard on the assignment for Marx & Weber class (both yesterday and today)
well, went to class today
and went to the beach yesterday! Did not stay too long tho cus I needed to go home study, but it was so good, I needed some vitamin D to be revigorated and function
Of course, I could just do the bare minimun to pass the classes, but I am incapable of not trying to do my best. It is actually awful. And I am 100% aware that it is okay if I get a good passing grade instead of an A+, but a part of my brain simply cannot accept that. So yeah. That's gifted kid burnout shit for you.

Hello! I am trying to learn Belarusian from English. I want to start writing down my homework assignments in Belarusian, but I’m not sure how to do so accurately. For example, how would I write “math homework due Tuesday”? Some basic vocab would be helpful too :< (stuff like homework, test, quiz, etc.)
Вялікі дзякуй!
Hello! Вітаю!
math homework due Tuesday – дамашняе заданне па матэматыцы на аўторак [JSYK the construction with the preposition па + the dative case may be questionable here for among the Belarusian language revivalists it's considered to be russified, but it's still used in Belarusian schools. As I am no expert I can't tell if it should be заданне з матэматыкі or заданне на матэматыку. Maybe someone will specify in the comments, but you don't have to worry about it.] Edit. Sorry everyone, I've been stupid (as it always happens with me and grammatical cases). It's not the dative case in this example; it's месны склон in Belarusian. I'm not sure how it's called in English. Wikipedia says it's adpositional case.

Hey guys!
Today I wanted to go ice-skating, but unfortunately the rink had a closed practice for kids so it didn’t happen. No worries, I got coffee and cake and looked at the cutest pomeranian dog in the most charming cafe. So all’s good.
Now for the studying:
- morning Duolingo French
- Biochem lecture number 1 out of 25 (ugh) - another one to go today!
- Coding seminar - another 45 minutes - I took gorgeous gorgeous notes
Might update this later, depending on how much perseverance I want to have today...? No rush.
Tomorrow I start my regular classes, but luckily I have them online for another week. First big test is on Wednesday, I have another essay due on Sunday and a presentation for Monday. Seems achievable right?
in other news I bought a lot of cute cats and dogs stickers for my bullet journal and I’ve never been more excited to keep up with writing in one

im going fucking cuckoo bananas. why is it so hard to fill my schedule to be a full time student for my last semester when i am infamously the type of person who wants to learn about everything ever and jumps at any opportunity to take random classes
have really really really wanted to take advanced spanish grammar for so long but every fucking semester i have a necessary class during that time (due to the epidemic of every class in the world being in late morning on tuesday/thursday) and this semester my One Singular Class I Absolutely Need To Graduate is at that time
so then i was like. oh well. i'll take italian 1 instead since my grandfather has been trying to plan one last trip to where his family is from and if i get to go it will be good to practice italian in a formal context
but then that trip fell through and i just really really want to improve my spanish so i emailed a class for heritage speakers to see if it would be appropriate for me and the professor got back to me and said i was welcome to come to the first class and try it out
and so today i went to the spanish for heritage speakers class and it made me so so excited to be immersed in spanish again and going over the content of the course, with the exception of how i don't really need much writing help since when i was learning all the basics of how to read and write i did that as much in spanish as i did english, all the grammar topics were exactly what i needed and the idea of a class where everyone talks at a high level and theres no english but you still get into the basics of explaining different grammar topics is so so refreshing!!!
and at the end of class the professor was like your spanish is at a high enough level for this class so if you want to take it then see you monday! and it got me so excited
and then the italian class was just really extremely basic. i understand basically anything said to me in italian and know a decent amount of vocab i just have trouble speaking but throughout my life i have at least studied basics like past and present tense and articles and stuff. so my goals were to learn more grammar and make my pronunciation better (i always pronounce everything so spanish and dont have a good sense for what words have which e or o sound)
but this professor was like yeah basically this whole course is just present tense and well learn the sinple past tense right at the end. but i already know that!!! and also unfortunately she has a noticeable american accent while speaking so thats not much help for improving my accent either
so i was like well whatever that makes my decision easy ill drop italian and take the spanish class. but still just in case i asked her about if i could take an italian placement test (was nervous about that originally because the next level up was during my necessary class again) and she was like yeah ive never had to do that before but i can figure that out for next week. which is a little nervewracking bc add/drop ends on wednesday. but whatever i was excited about taking spanish now
but then when i got home today i saw an email from the spanish professor (technically a grad student) like ‘i talked to my colleagues and even if your spanish level is high enough since you are not a heritage speaker here are some classes better suited for you [classes where you write huge essays in spanish which i do not have the time or desire for rn]’
and that was upsetting because i just really most of anything wanted to take a spanish class but then i was feeling a bit better because it turned out there was a new section added of the italian 2 class that fit my schedule and looking through that classes textbook it seemed the exact mix of easy but not boring because ill still actually be learning stuff that i needed. and i even called my mom (who used to be an italian language professor) and read the textbook units and she agreed it seemed exactly right for me
so i went to start writing an email to that professor to be proactive even before taking the placement test but in the fucking half hour since i had last checked the page rhat section of the class filled up with no waitlist
so i looked through the entire search of classes in a certain block of time not on tuesday thursday for my giant university and literally rhe only thing that seemed both manageable and interesting was an intro to japanese class. and i was excited like wow! how did i miss this when i was first searching for classes! only to click on it and remember i did see it and the reason it wasnt on my backup class list was because it doesnt allow seniors to take it
