I’m writing to you from Paris. Apparently, Colonel Sink and the rest of the higher-ups decided I needed a “little dose of civilization.” It’s so quiet here - even with the buzz of the busy streets and crowded cafes, all I hear is your absence. All I hear is the lack of Robin and Muave’s little feet running around the house. How can I relax when I’m constantly reminded I am not with my family? I would give anything to be back in the States with you and the twins.

How is everything going for you? Is school going okay? I’m so proud of you and all the effort you’ve put into your studies - I still remember Robin looking at your textbooks and trying to help you! He is such a sweet boy. Do you remember when he tried to make you breakfast for Mother’s Day last year? I can’t believe he woke up before both of us! It was absolutely worth the cheerios and milk all over the bed. Robin will do anything to see you smile, he is such a sweetheart.

What about Muave? Is she doing okay? I still remember needing to pry her off of my leg before shipping off to Toccoa. That’s how she’s always been though, hasn’t she? Even when I was in bed with the flu, she was convinced that if she kept hugging me I would feel better. Our girl has one of the kindest souls I’ve ever seen.

The only thing getting me through this war is knowing that, when all this is over, I will be coming back to you and the twins. We can finally have our hectic mornings, you getting the kids dressed while I cook us breakfast (and they beg for chocolate chip cookies for breakfast!). We can go to the park again and finally teach the twins how to ride a bike. We can have our quiet nights after the twins go to bed, and it’s just you and me. You always calm every storm in my head, no matter how violent. You make me feel more loved and safe than I ever have felt before.

You are in my thoughts every minute of every day. Your focused expression when you’re doing your art, the way you tilt your head back when you’re laughing, the loving look in your eyes when you’re with Robin and Muave. I have never met anyone so loving, compassionate, and gentle. Thank you for being my wife - I promise when I return home, I will spend every day doing everything I can to make you happy.

It would be extremely gay. And angsty. It's the pining and devotion that gets me 👌 hahahhahaa

I like to put characters in situations where, even though they are good people and will in the end be nothing less than devoted to each other, they hurt each other either through circumstance, accident or mistake. Case in point: FSHOS and your fingerprints on my skin, my two IceMav fics. I also like arranged marriage AUs, slave AUs, etc. though I don't think I've published any yet.

Or, the blorbos would find each other in dire circumstances and fall in love gradually from the intimacy of relying on each for survival. Example: the ruins of our lives.

As for style (oh god, I'm exposing myself here AHHAAH):

em dash: I love them. So Much. One thing I like to do is to end a line of dialogue with it when a character gets interrupted mid-sentence.

dramatic one liners: I need to ration myself or I'll do it all the time.

comma splices: it's not grammatical but I like it. I probably use them more than I should but I try to be mindful of how I use it and how it affects the rhythm my writing.

use of names: you know that "the taller man" / "the aviator" / "the older man" thing people like complaining about in fanfics? Unless the descriptions are relevant to what's happening, I try to avoid those descriptions and just use their names instead. It does pose another problem though: overuse of names. I'm still figuring out how to balance it hahahah!

switching POVs: I try to ration out time to explore each side of the ship's thoughts

76. Did you have any ideas that didn't make the final cut of FSHOS?

(Spoiler alert for FSHOS in case anyone else is reading this.)

Here's a scarier road that branched off from Chapter 22: David makes Mav disappear. He finds the transfer form with the buyer signature still blank and just... kidnaps him. Gets a few goons and stuffs Mav kicking and screaming into the trunk.

By the time Ice finds out, it's because someone has filed the paperwork to pull Mav out of the Navy. David has handed Mav off to a third party and Mav is already on his way out of the country.

(Spoiler alert for this potential fic... I don't think I'll manage to write it but just wanted to warn.)

Ice is on the WARPATH. He knows his father is behind this but he just can't find Mav anywhere and can't pry his location out from between his father's lying teeth, so he makes good on his promise and drags the Kazansky name through an all-out shit show of a campaign to take down omega trafficking. Maybe Ice's mom's alpha helps cause she's a banging lawyer.

Legally speaking, Ice is in an absolutely terrible position but it is an unprecedented case that opens up to a lot omega rights arguments. The media eats up the drama and there are investigations, protests, etc... and the omega rights lawyers/activist all flock him wanting to make this The Case to overturn omega laws.

They are in and out of court all day every day. There are TIME magazine articles: WHERE IS MAVERICK? reads the heading, with a grainy, candid picture of Mav in his Navy uniform. The Washington Post has a picture of Ice walking down the steps of the courthouse with dark circles and a glare, and David is somewhere further behind him, stepping through the courthouse doors with his face shielded: KAZANSKY V. KAZANSKY - the generational chasm.

Ice can't look at the news without feeling like throwing up but he knows how to play the game and he plays it well.

I have some thoughts on how Ice would win: national security concerns for one, to void all omega sale contracts out of the country, cause Mav is privy to Navy secrets. Undue duress of some sort is another option to void the transfer form. Finally, if omegas rights are granted, all omega contracts could be voided!!

That's all and good, but we still have one problem: seriously, where is Mav? It's no use winning in court and winning omega rights if he can't get Maverick back safe???

*turns back the clock*

Ice knew this from the start. He had hoped that dragging the Kazansky name through the mud would force his father to capitulate and hand Mav back, but he knows that (i) he could fail, (ii) it would take a long time even if he succeeded, and (iii) it means nothing if Mav is gone.

So he sends his best friend, Slider, on a mission.

Slider has his rifle ready. He has a fast car. "I'll get him back Ice. I promise," he growls. So off our best boy Slider goes, zooming off and sniffing the ground like a bloodhound to track down their precious Mav.

(Meanwhile Mav is rattling the bars of his cage, biting shitty alphas, gnawing through ropes and escaping into the wilderness.)

Slider finds him dehydrated and sunburnt on the border but he's safe. He's safe!

Omega rights: won. Mav: back home. Slider: extremely relieved and proud. Ice: weepy mess ❤️

Even though I thought out this whole AU, I didn't go down this path because (1) I had already thought out the protest and the "canon" fic ending, and (2) I wanted Mav to be in a mentally healthier / more stable state when he re-started his relationship with Ice.

In contrast, the scarier Ch22 AU would give Mav a hugeeee amount of trauma (Ice too) and would probably end up with Ice being extremely protective and Mav accepting it, for stability's sake, while they heal together.

I just love her snarky attitude and her banter with Jade and how she's so scatterbrained sometimes. She has lovely chemistry with all of the characters. DRU!Reader is my most beloved. I think tense interactions between the both of them are so interesting to explore in the context of such a scary plot. So I've been reading opinions here and there about why there's differences in 2 shipping name for satosugu and why it seems pretty clearcut and important for this fandom and then saw your post saying the eastern fandom seems to lean more goge while western is more gego. I've read that the purpose is usually to define/tag who top/bottom if it's nsfw works and if it's not nsfw then it's to depict the dynamic (which perspectives about said dynamic vary from one fan to another). I'd even seen opinions that pointed out Mappa is prolly pushing more gego than goge just because they made Gojo lankier and prettier like ?? I'm not trying to start anything here because it all comes down to personal preferences and everyone is entitled to their opinions but to me that sounds quite traditional? Typical? Man...as someone who came from the west side then I'd say the eastern side got nicer taste! I like the top to be lankier, have pretty eyelashes, cheerful, and more childish lol. Not to mention buff, meatier bottom who is tall, dark, handsome, speaks less and has more mature personality of the two is all in the rage nowadays (more and more famous BL works recently are featuring those dynamics more). It's a bit of a bummer for me since satosugu is something we can experience fully through fanworks and as someone who only knows English, there are indeed more works for gego in English (at least from what I've seen by filtering tags for fanfics). So I really appreciate goge artists like you who made it available in English 🙏. I shud hurry up and make pixiv acc even though I would solely depend on AI translator to understand the fanfics and doujinshis there 😂

Yes I mean, I feel mappa satisfy both sides like in last episode (was the drool really needed?!?? That was made for us 😭). Even if they indeed made gojo a lanky teen I mean he kinda is in the manga too hahaa even if I like to give them both a nice built it doesn't bother me much. I do appreciate they dud make now adult Gojo look a big bigger on the shoulders specially so I just hope they deliver good post sealing Gojo when he gets out 🥹 cause that gojo is my fav version of him now.

I'm always weak for the thought of dad Erron being scared of fatherhood at first and suddenly realizing how much he loves his baby. Holding Lizzie for the first time must have been such a strong revelation for him. Makes me wonder if he was the one who brought up the thought of a second child? 👀 Like, Lizzie was pretty much unplanned from what I understand but Lana ? 🧐 I think Skarlet would be torn between being overjoyed at the prospect of having a second child and being surprised that it was Erron who brought up the idea ! 💖

Honestly I'd love to learn more about their family dynamic, especially Lizzie because I find it sooo funny how she'd be like- the only "normal" person in this family of murderous adrenaline junkies. 😂 Her parents being weird in front of her friends would probably embarrass her as well !

Also I'm curious about how Skarlet would develop as a person in your story because I remember you saying you weren't really up for a redemption arc for her canonically. Yet, she finds herself being a mom and leaving a rather "normal-ish" family life in Earthrealm. What do you think would bring her to this point in her life in your story ?

I've never actually thought about it, when they decided to have a 2nd kid. Like I honestly never thought about it, or if she was planned or another accident, but I LOVE the idea that Erron suggested having another! Lizzie is 7 years older than Lana, so that's quite some years between kids. I suppose that after her, they figured she'd be an only child, but then years later they caught the Baby Fever and just wanted another one.

I think he was shook holding Lizzie for the first time. He probably cried a bit, but he would never admit to it. (Skarlet knows. He denies it, but she saw it.) Not only realizing that he loves his child but also feeling the weight of his own familial trauma... all at once. Maybe that's why she let him be the one to name her? 🥺

I think Elizabeth is a bit of a Sad Girl™. (I have "Ow (Intro)" by Pom Pom Squad and "Human" by Christina Perri on her Pinterest board section for my original story, so I must've been cooking a bit for her.) Which makes sense; one of the children is bound to get Skarlet's and Erron's melancholy, and it ain't Lana! 🤷🏽‍♀️ (Sidenote: I remembered that they're both low-key named after Lana Del Rey because her real name is Elizabeth! 😭 I mean, she is my Skarron queen! 🫶🏽)

As for Skarlet: That's my CONTRARIAN ASS because I love Skarlet as a villain, but I also love the idea of her and Erron just living a domestic life together. *sighs* So in The Bubblegum Project (the story I mentioned because I have another one that I'm supposed to be writing rn), Lana's mother is a vampire, her father is a 185-year-old witch, and they settle down in Texas, acting normal. (He uses witchcraft to secure a job as a history professor, and she has a job as a showgirl at a fancy burlesque club.) However, he's a hitman on the side, and she's still killing people for blood even though there is a medication to fill the need for blood. (I reblogged this gif-set to my writing/story inspo blog for them, and I just love the idea of Erron & Skarlet having that kind of dynamic, due to the way Erron still shows signs of his humanity. *chef's kiss* TOP-TIER ship dynamic for me! 🤌🏽)

I think they got to that point because she got pregnant, WOOPSIES, and they wanted to give their child the best life they could. Idk exactly where my OCs were living, but they knew their lifestyles (which would've been similar to Skarron's) weren't good for a child to grow up in. And Skarlet and Erron would know that Outworld is not a good place for a child to grow up in. Skarlet knows that firsthand. And it's most definitely not safe because they've both likely made enemies there.

And unfortunately, no, I have anything written or published yet. I have 2 old Marvel fanfics, and I started writing a Scream fanfic over 2 years ago, but my attention span is garbage, along with the fact that I hate my own writing. 😩 And I have bits and pieces of original stories written, just the beginning of a chapter here and there, but nothing really yet. Um...all of them 🤣 But as for what would be the worst? Probably one of my currently anon fics for a controversial fest 👀 For being super problematic. As for things with my name attached...hmmm. In My Veins (In My Blood) for the dead dove-ry. But bonus points if they found my AO3 profile and some of the first fics they saw were The Perfect Shade of Purple and Gray Eyes (Tell No Lies). The shock and horror of the underage kinkiness. Only to then discover "oh no, it gets worse." 🤭

🎉 What leads you to consider a fic a success?

Hmm! I'm not gonna lie, good stats help. 🤭 More than that, I think seeing it talked about out in the wild, or people mentioning it to me when they talk to me. When they get recced! Like "wow people liked this enough to remember it and talk about it!" That always blows me away.

More than that, I think my own feelings come into play, too. Last I checked, my Top 5 fics by hits and kudos are all part of my Yes, Daddy series 😂 Some of those fics rank high in other areas of my stats page, too, iirc. And while I'm fond of it, and it gives me a giggle that my friggin' daddy kink series of all things tops my stats charts...they were just written for funsies. Which is great! We all need those stories, I think. But there are works that took more effort, that hold more of my heart, that I'm more proud of. I put more of my heart into my friggin' plant porn fic than the daddy kink fics. But Romantic Notions is understandably niche. 😅

For that, I very happily consider Contempt and Collateral Damage to be my biggest "success" stories. And that feels really dang good actually. One is the culmination of nearly two decades of Snarry love. The other contains all of my Dron feels. Both written for ship-specific fests. Both performed so much better (stats-wise) than I had hoped! Both people have talked to me about outside of AO3. Both have featured on rec lists! I put so much time and effort into writing them. I had actual meltdowns writing them both, so difficult yet meaningful they were to me. I'm so incredibly proud of the end product of both. I literally could not be more thrilled.

Bonus points: Contempt also has a podfic???? By @mrviran who is amazing. And art???? Also by @mrviran AND @inarticulateimbecile???? Incredible. I am blessed. 🥺 I have every feeling on planet earth. 🫶 And it truly touches me so much that people love those stories so much, because I love them so much!!!!
